Hi all
So, after a thread about ten things that'd make the HTC one better got me thinking, eventually I wondered why ringtones and notifications don't use beats? They are so much deeper and bassier with beats on, and they sound like every other phone without.
Any way it can be enabled?
B.
I'm looking for exactly the same thing. It sounds so much better with the beats audio. I'm trying to find a way to force beats always on.
Have you found anything about this yet?
Up for this!
Hopefully updates will have this!
No i'm afraid I couldn't find anything. Doesn't seem to be high on anyone's agenda. I am thinking about asking in ROM specific threads see if anyone is interested. It would improve the phone no end in my book.
i was messing with EQ setting on an audio editing software and tried so many different EQ settings, but for some reason the sound isn't nearly as good on the phone speakers when beats audio is turned on.......... I don't understand but I really really want this. If someone could just find the correct EQ that the HTC one uses for it's speakers when beats audio is turned on then maybe.
It sucks that these speakers depend on this stupid software audio thing.
One of the threads here suggests that beats off is actually an anti-eq. I wouldn't be surprised, it does sound awful when it's off, at least through the speakers.
Maybe try something like poweramp?

What Equalizer were you using? I know I see DSP Manager in a lot of ROMs. I think one good Equalizer that I had on my E4GT was... eh...? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223) Viper MOD (ViPER4Android Audio Effects) That equalizer had EVERYTHING.
But yea, different equalizers give different effects and features.
Anyone has a idea to get beats audio quality with another equalizer ?
greetings
This is the EQ I use and it works while beats is on. Set to the rock or hip hop preset just makes this device sound great. Prefer the rock preset while using the speakers.

This app works in a very similar way to DSP manager except this can go much louder!
This application is priced at £1.25 on the Android Market but is (and always will be) available for free on here and on my website.
Android Market Link
It currently includes a Speaker Volume Boost and a Bass Enhancer, with more features planned.
Due to the fact that different mobile companies make different quality speakers, this app with sound very different depending on the phone it's being used on. For example, it sounds pretty bad on the Nexus One because the Nexus has a terrible speaker. It might sound better on other phones, i dunno.
The regular Disclaimer applies (see app discription, or disclaimer in the app).
Enjoy
I'll give this a run with the Droid X on GB and let you know the results.
it says all phones but does it work with lg p500 ?
How About a NC?
Anyone know / tried this on a Nook Color running CM7?
It should work on all phones which are running Gingerbread (2.3)
Does it need Root-Access?
I'll have to test this out. Thanks
Sounds great
Is there any risk of outwearing ones' speaker using this kind of apps?
Maybe there is no instant sign of it, but in time it might just get noticeable..
Does anyone have experience with this?
give it a try later..
Amazing on Inspire 4G!
using this on nscolab with voodoo sound and it works great !!! so much louder however anything above +3 comes out distorted like hell but even +3 is well loud !
HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

I was hoping this would increase the volume of movies played with Rockplayer through headphones for when I am on the tube, alas it does not, any chance of this being sorted? Nexus s i9023 2.3.4 with latest version of Rockplayer.
How much can you really do with the same hardware?
The best speakers I have had is the Motorola e398.
Stereo speakers and simulated sub.
Truly awesome with VooDoo... love all the little tweaks and effects, really imporoves the sound
Oh yes!
It works for Motorola Defy whit CyanogenMod 7 Beta 6 (Android 2.3.4)
My ear's are bleeding

Indeed. Since the Inspire normally has subpar volume, this app fixes the problem and offers more juice than what I needed. Perfect for those important alarms I need to respond too.
Doesn't work on Droid X GB. Would've been nice but oh well.
I'll try it later ^^
Hey folks.
So one of the things I love about the latest Gingerbread DSP app is that it has bass boost. The bass ends up being balanced and punchy, and it works ****ing wonderfully when I'm listening to Gojira.
Anyway, I've rolled back to using Laszlo's Froyo ROM, and I've been missing this augmentation. I've tried ripping the .apk file from the COS-DS gingerbread ROM, but the .apk file will not install. I've been trying to find work-arounds, but I'm more of a super-user than a developer. Anyone have any ways of pointing me in the right direction?
Thanks much!
Dammit. Typos in forum titles are quite embarrassing.
try POWER AMP from market..even it has superb bass boost..give it a try..
GOJIRA!
Dunno about DSP but, i've been rockin' "equalizer" from the market and it's awesome.... Like you, I jam Gojira 24/7 and it does great! ...
BTW, nice to find another Gojira fan! Best band ever, dude.. end of story

I looked into this app once I got the Doubleshot, but it only works within the app. What I like about DSP manager is that it works across all sound-based apps (phone, google talk, music apps etc).

YUS. Totally agree. Their song "Of Blood and Salt" is the most epic of tracks, since good Ol' Devvy and Thordendal are bringing the rawkus as well. Just wish I could listen to it with some deep bass-resonance. Gives the double-kick drums some nice punch.
Tomorrow I'm going to a concert and I would like to record with my Samsung Captivate.
I heard that the microphone is horrible when recording loud sounds.
I'm on KH3 and I don't know if the bug is still present. I got the application "Voodoo Control Plus" and there's a Microphone presets.
What should I go with, these are the options available.
--Original
--Balanced (new default) With DRC
--High Sensivity with DRC
--Loud Environment with DRC
I suppose Loud environment right? If not, what? Balanced?
Thanks,
NightShack
If you want to have a good sound...please use something else. I know this from experience.
Just saying.

Well I don't have anything else so I'll just have to use it even with the crappy mic.
I will be using the "Loud" setting, I just tested it recording next to a speaker and the "Original" sounds like **** and the Balanced and Loud are the best ones, but the Loud is better.
You recording a concert is Illegal. Its called stealing. If you get caught it will cost you a great deal of money. Best case scenario they kick you out and you miss the concert you paid to see. Besides, sound fields at concerts all sound like crap anyway. Just shell out the 13 bucks for the cd or steal it off the internet.

Yeah buts it's alot easier to get away with stealing music off the internet than it is to stand in the middle of a concert with your phone shoved in the air like a moron.
P.S. I fixed your post.

Stealing? Are you crazy?...Then why almost all people record it, or at least take pictures They don't even check for cameras at the entrance, unless it's a professional one....
Anyways..here's a video I recorded with Voodoo Sound (Loud Environment setting)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb6GyuwFHT4&feature=channel_video_title
It turned out decent and sound is ok.. The video quality sucks because I had somewhat bad seats.
A lot of bands allow recording and sharing of their concerts. Check out Live Music Archive for bands that allow sharing of their concerts. It's not an illegal site. All the bands on the site give their permission before concerts can be posted. There are more bands that allow recording but don't allow sharing over the internet. The Dave Mattew's Band is one of the better known bands that allow recording but not internet sharing.
Hi guys,
I have done some research on here for the last 2 days but I have not come across a definitive answer so I decided to ask outright. When ever I watch some specific youtube videos and play a few specific mp3s the boomsound speakers crackle with Beats ON but no crackle with Beats OFF.
Is this a common software problem with you guys on firmware 1.28?
Or is this a speaker hardware problem (therefore I need to exchange my phone as I am still within my 28 day exhange period?
If it is a software problem is it also true that firmware 1.29 solves this crackling but lowers the overall volume of the device?
I would really appreciate your feedback please as I do like the phone but I do not want to have to return the phone unless I definitely have to as I did manage to get one which has no gaps, screen isues, etc.
Phone is on firmware 1.28.401.7 and I am NOT rooted.
Thanks
What do you mean by 'specific'? I don't have any problems, a link might help to see if its only your phone.

Same problem here. It only happens in youtube for me so its probably just a software problem.
I'm pretty sure it's just the Beats software. If you download one of the Air Horn apps from the Play Store and run it with Beats on, it crackles like crazy. Run it with Beats off, and it runs fine.

Just tried it and you are right. My crackles a lot too.
So i guess it may be a software issue after all then. So my next question is does the 1.29 OTA solve this Beats crackling problem at the expense of lowering the overall phone volume? I am VERY curious to know the answer to that question.
I just tried the video and got no crackle on this specific video but .... I've heard it plenty of times on other YouTube videos so you're not alone.
I'm hoping this is easily fixed with a software update since Beats seems to be the culprit here. But like the OP said I'd like to know now so we can exchange the device if it's faulty.

My top external speaker crackles when i play music at a semi-loud volume and crackles with the video link posted above. I have searched around the web and it seems like this problem is very limited. Many people complain about some very low level pops or clicks in the audio when using headphones but this issue is different. It sounds like the speaker has some kind of mechanical issue. Sounds like the speaker is blown.
I really dont want to exchange the phone. :crying:
Mine ONLY does it watching YouTube. Everything else I have tried works just fine.

I totally understand. I have a near perfectly built phone and I don't want to risk exchanging it unless I definitely know for a fact that this crackling is a hardware problem. Can I ask, what firmware are you experiencing the crackling on?
I am on 129.1540.3. It crackles with beats on or off.
I called letstalk and they are sending a replacement phone. Crossing my fingers I am not trading one issue for another.

I'm not sure if my One has this issue.
With Beats enabled, I can definitely hear a "pop" whenever there is a cut in the video. Considering the audio quality is somewhat improved with Boomsound, I don't find it so distracting.
With Beats disabled there is no "pop" or crackling.
Oh, I am with 1.29.401.12.
My speaker has distortion and static when audio is played at any volume above half. The distortion and static is heard during the playback and not just before or after the audio is played.

Youtube App
I too have this problem the ota 1.29 has not solved it. When I watch/listen to music/film using the YOUTUBE APP I get the pop and crackling every few seconds. However if I watch or listen to the same stuff through the browser and mobile youtube I do not have the problem. Also via youtube app but wireless disabled and using 3g no crackle or pops. It's definitely something to do with the Youtube App and over wireless.
Testing via headphones seems to have no issues under any circumstances very strange definitely a software issue.
Try turning off Beats.
It pops a little in the bottom speaker. I think it is particles
similitudes some
I think is the speaker. Suck the usb port and the crackling gets worst.
Now I did not know where else to post this, as when i posted one of the videos in General I got asked politely by a moderator to take it down.
So I don't see the harm in posting it in the "off topic" section since it has nothing really to do with XDA itself.
Basically I have a Youtube channel Called Android Insanity, and need support from other android lovers.
So it would really mean alot.
I am a ameateur at it at the moment though. But I do try make my videos good quality.

Hi I've watched some of your videos and I have some constructive criticism for you
1. Your intro animation goes on a little too long, I would recommend 4-5 seconds from beginning to end, or 1.5 - 2 seconds after animation has reached its full display.
2. At the end of each segment during your best 3 upcoming phones review you could see your hand going to turn off the camera. If you just wait 2 seconds when you have finished you will be able to cut and paste the videos together smoother, making it look more professional .
3. If you keep notes of bullet points that you want to mention during the video keep them near the camera if possible, then you won't look like your looking away to refer to information.
4. You should maybe have a brief outro clip. Like a still image of your main logo with some music, that previous music you were using, the bass one was quite good. Maybe use that for the intro as well?
Other than that your doing good pal
