If you are using stamina mode, WIFI and mobile data are temporarily switched off when screen is not on.

Hi all,
I'm using stock rom XXLQE on my i9070 and switched to CoCore 6.8 since I was experiencing tremendous lags with official kernel.
Even though I've set WiFi to stay always on during sleep, I have noticed that it drops off after a while when Power Saving mode is enabled. Indeed, turning the screen back on will cause a reconnection to the wireless network. Is it the expected behaviour when power saving is enabled?

No, as far as I know; I haven't installed any. I thought that it could be related to the particular WiFi network but it's happening both at home and at work...

No. Check your settings again. If its on ON, it should not close.
I use also xxlqe with Harsh jelly v2.1. And cocore v7.6 Wi-Fi is always on. And i dont have this problem.

Something is wrong with your phone. This does not happen on my S Advance or even on my Note 2 !
I'll try to run for few days with PSM disabled and see if that happens again.
I suspect it won't but I need more time, I'll keep you posted in case.
By the way, is there an app that logs WiFi connections/disconnections? The simplest possible would fit...It can be useful for debugging purposes
I've extensively tested the phone, and it happened quite a few times that WiFi went off for long periods (around 30 mins): in fact, as soon as I unlocked the screen the connection promptly restarted. I could determine the downtime by some Whatsapp messages I received and their timestamp.
Disabling Power Saving Mode apparently solved the problem (i.e., I've never experienced any WiFi downtime).

the reason is, when I switch on the screen, I may have times to wish to use the browser or to download something, so I will activate the lte manually. But then, as I switch off the screen, probably I would have finished my job, and wish to switch off lte to save power during standby. At the moment, without any tasker as far as I know which can do the job, I will have to remember to switch off the lte every time after switching it on. This is unnecessarily annoying. If there is any automatic means to do this, I can have peace of mind, just screen off and the job will be done.
Try juicedefender

you cant turn off lte and turn it back no when ever screen is off. Your phone will waste more battery by constantly switching to different bands. The best thing to use is the built in battery saver which switches data off and other things that aint required.

the idea is just to turn lte off when the screen goes off, not to turn lte on when the screen is on. This means, I will manually switch lte on if I need it, but do not have to remember to switch it off if it is on. This will not bring an on off issue, as I will not hop in and out of internet very often.

Are you sure Tasker can do this? In my Tasker, the choice of 2G/3G toggle is RED with X, meaning that it is not selectable in my ROM environment.

So the thing is i recently rooted the mobile
so i flashed an older kernel then flashed the current kernel
then i had that update notification
so i though that i updated the phone before (very similar numbers .245 to .254 )
so i flashed the recent kernel of .254 then the stamina mode isnt working and the battery is being drained like hell !
so i tried now to flash the .245 kernel and still im facing the same problem and i really need Stamina mode its vital for me !

Dude seriously thanks for the hope
i bought this phone only because of stamina mode !
From what I can understand about the comments in here is the following:
- Stamina mode does not turn on properly
- Stamina does not function properly
First of all; Stamina mode only works when you have your SCREEN OFF... This has been stated many many times and only Serves as a (cheap version of) Juice Defender to prevent pointless sync on background.
Sometimes the Estimated time of Stand-by is false (or stays the same) when it has been enabled or disabled. This can be solved by removing its data via Settings > Apps > all > Eco mode controller > Force Stop > Clear data and reboot..
After reboot you need to enable it again and set it the way you want.

I think the only hope is sony's 4.3 update or custom rom
Also try uninstall google+. This made my standby battery alot better (even though battery stats show google+ wasn't the problem :/) But the drain comes back right after updating any app on Play Store. This makes no sense but I've been able to replicate it 3 times in a row. I've tried so many other things without success, completely given up now and just waiting for the new update.

I tried this and still the staminy mode isnt working
when you turn on the stamina mode it changes the amount of standby hours you have
when i do turn it on nothing happens and the battery drain is tremendous
so i just wanted to ask
why i cant update the mobile from OTA or PC companion(keeps downloading for years and gets stuck at 99%)
and can i flash a stock rom and still have all my apps and data ?

Trying to fix the stamina estimate is a waste of time. I did this and it says standby time 4 days (I've even been able to get it say 9 days on one of the rare occasions my battery issues were gone)
I said to myself wow 4 days standby, good job mr.stamina. So I left my phone standby for 24 hours, checked it and down to 3%. Total screen on time of 5 minutes.
Also I don't think our problem is gtalk_conn. When I've been able to get good standby time there is still a very large amount of gtalk_conn wakelocks.

Or else if are not bored enough you can repair using PC Companion BUT you will lose root...

Looks like a weak mobile network signal could be the cause. Go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > set "Preferred network type" to "GSM only"
I am not saying its your issue, but when I turn google now " voice - ok google detection" and from any screen is on, it just keeps my phone awake 100%. I turn it off and then it updates and comes back on, same issue.
drives me nuts stock everything
Install Wakelock detector by UzumApps.
Perhaps Xposed !
I think it xposed it self that drain battery, an alpha release is unstable.
I tried it i have the same mater, a clean install without xposed and battery is normal
I think you are right, I turn off the voice detection and it seems normal now. Observe a little longer to settle.
