--------------------------[ UPDATE ]---------------------------------
This is now DEPRECATED as we can read reboot code from kernel cmdline during bootup, and this has been integrated in most recoveries.
--------------------------[ UPDATE ]---------------------------------
As most of you would know that the reboot-into-recovery is broken in our Xperia devices as we dont have a dedicated recovery partition... this is especially annoying as we cant directly use the Goo/ROM Manager functions without manually pressing the VOLUME keys at bootup..
well now I have developed a fix in the form of a reboot binary!!! this will now add compatibility with Goo/ROM Manager's Reboot into Recovery!!
just download the zip linked below and flash via any recovery...
It will work on both locked and unlocked bootloaders and on any kernel or ROM (stock or custom)...

I have a question to ask, and i am asking this with no knowledge what so ever.
but, would it be possible to rewrite the partition table so that we get a recovery partition?

It sure is possible to shrink an existing partition and add a new one, but that should never be done unless absolutely required, which isn't the case for us.
We do have extra partitions, such as FOTAKenrel, which are already used for recovery (CM supports this too, if you flash a compatible TWRP image to the FOTAKernel partition, that will be loaded instead of the recovery present in the boot partition).
It still just loads the ramdisk from the image present on the FOTAKernel partition, what would have been better is the bootloader directly loading another kernel (from another partition), if the reboot reason is recovery or a key is pressed while booting.
How it be on DoomKernel? It may reboot into CWM or TWRP? O_O
I don't know if it works with Goo manger to boot into TWRP O_O
Edit:Now I know that Rom manger is support TWRP now,so I don't know what recovery will Rom manger use because Doomkernel has both CWM and TWRP

thx, work with rom manager like a charm. But other tools like quickboot use an other way to boot? So they won't work.
Do you have to reflash with ROM updates etc?

Also, it would be much nice if it can be flashed directly from stock recovery. Do you think you can give it a go?

Hi !
Here's an application to install and uninstall TWRP 2.4.3.0 recovery on locked bootloaders Xperia Z. It's stable on my Xperia Z, but i highly suspect some partition (system) problems with Xperia ZL phones.
This application will install TWRP recovery ramdisk to system as "recovery.tar", but you can provide your own recovery (ramdisk) by placing it to "/sdcard/XZRecovery.tar". This way this application could be compatible with other recovery or devices.
TWRP recovery ported to Xperia Z by krabappel2548 !
If you don't know which file to use, download XZRecovery-1.0.apk, install it and run it.
The recovery will get lost each time you flash a rom or wipe system partition.
XZRecovery.apk
Install, uninstall and reboot to recovery from your Android device
twrp-2.4.3.0-xz-locked.zip
Install recovery from windows (ADB)
twrp-2.4.3.0-xz-locked-recovery.zip

Hi,
i did update the first post with a recovery zip that can be installed from recovery. So you should be able to flash any (stock based) rom from recovery, including wiping system, then install this file to get recovery back (well before exiting recovery of course or you'll loose it).

Well, to get to stock recovery, download XXLK1 firmware anywhere. And restore with Odin. Make sure you put files in right places. And install back CM11 with latest nightly with CWM 6.0.5.3. It should work for now. You'll be fine after install but don't forget install Galaxy Y MODEM after installed CM11. It's bug on our CM11 if you don't install, we can't boot without install it. If you know this already, just leave it.
