A friend of mine rooted his S3 mini and installed busybox to try
To edit files that would supposedly get him free internet.
Then his imei dissappeared which lead to a phone with out sÃgnal.
Then the phone went straight into recovery mode and it pulls up
That Make_extf4fs failed on blk0p25 and blk0p23 errors when i wipe cache and factor y
Reset the phone. I tried flashing a one file stock ROM but the phone continues
To get stuck on the splash screen. Anybody know how i could resolve this??

Hi,
Recently, my wife's phone started to boot loop, would eventually boot into Android but couldn't install apps etc. Anyway, tried to reset to factory and at startup, went into recovery mode with messages such as
E:failed to mount /dbdata (Invalid argument)
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEE/system/'
Doing a factory reset from recovery screen gives rfs format errors.
Anyway, next logical step in my mind was to try to install a ROM and pit file that I downloaded in case partition table was corrupted.
So to do this I used Odin / JVH_JV3_JPO.tar ROM / s1_odin_20100512.pit file. This seemed to install fine but unfortunately went to recovery screen again after rebooting so no joy.
Looks to me like onboard SD is damaged - thoughts?
I have a 16GB micro SD card in the phone also and would like to be able to use that to boot from. How can I do this? Bear in mind that the only 3 screens I can get to now are Recovery Mode / Download Mode / Boot loop.
A similar scenario appears to be discussed here but some of the posts on that thread imply that the process has problems, there are broken links in the post etc.
So I suppose, what I want to know is - is my internal SD damaged? And what's the best approach I can take now?
Thanks,
Julian.

Hey guys!
Earlier today I rooted my another Android device so I wanted to try it with my Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830. I rooted it successfully, then I wanted to install a custom ROM...well, I wanted to upgrade it to Android 4.3 since I found a tutorial for it.
I downloaded two zip files, put them on the card, booted the phone into recovery mode and during installation of files, there was an error (Status 0), something like that. When I wanted to boot my phone, it could not boot up. It would just have that splash screen saying Samsung Ace S5830 and it would stay there forever.
I got back to the recovery mode and there is error saying "E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument).
I figured out I messed it up, so I tried to flash it with Odin. However, after reading millions of guides, I failed to do it. I put my phone into download mode and it just says "Downloading..." on a black screen, there is no picture or anything like that, and I saw in the guides there should be one, so am I in the wrong mode?
Anyway, I "managed" to flash my phone. The process took ~10 seconds then rebooted my phone and I was waiting on a countdown (4 minutes or so), then it said my phone is done and I saw a blue button saying "PASS". However, my phone was showing only a backlight during that process, there wasn't anything like a download bar.
I restarted my phone, wiped cache and did a factory reset, but it's still unable to boot.
What should I do?
Thanks a lot!

Hi all,
I really need your guys help. Out of nowhere today my phone restarted and then got stuck in a bootloop. When I went into recovery, it gave me the "android is updating" pop-up. I knew there was no update and within 20 seconds or so it said "no command". I went through to wipe the cache, and after rebooting it back up, strangely it didn't give me the "android is updating" screen that occurs after wiping cache. I went ahead and tried to factory reset through recovery and everything was fine until I got a msg "E: could not mount (file or directory could not be found) or something a long those lines. I'm assuming the EFS is fried? I rebooted it after and even at the "Welcome Screen" it started boot looping again. I'm stock lollipop unrooted. I never rooted this phone or flashed any ROMs. I called T-Mo and they will send me a replacement but I still want to see if this can be fixed. I also don't have a replacement phone so..there's that. Would anyone be able to help?
Edit: The only thing I haven't tried is flashing the stock firmware via odin. Would this trip the knox counter though? I really want to avoid that especially since I am having these issues and I don't want tmo/samsung to think I caused this issue.
Bad phone. Ur new phone will be good to go.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
HTC One M7 stuck at Android recovery
Did a factory reset for no reason and my phone died while it was resetting. Ever since it's been stuck at the android recovery, Factory reset isn't
working, gives me the error : Failed to mount data, pretty much tried everything, with no luck
what's hapenning, anyone know how to help me, i'm almost giving up on it.
Tried wiping cache, connecting to pc shows me a blank usb drive that's inacessable, can't find phone on htc sync, tried to adb shell: No devices found.
P.s - The phone had no problems prior to the needless reset, the phone wasn't rooted.
I seem to be having the same issue. Mine soft bricked and the Factory Reset failed.
Mine shows:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Backup Data Preload
Backup CW Package
Restore Data Preload
Restore CW Package
Formatting\/cache
Data Wipe Complete.
Write host_mode:0 done
Then it gives me the same system recovery menu. Rebooting just put it right back into the same loop.
So my phone was in charger last night and when I woke up, the phone was stuck in HTC logo splash screen. I was curios to see what happened so I tried to force restart but it didn't help. The next thing I did was to enter the recovery to see if there was any problem there. What I noticed was that my sdcard was showing no data on it, so I connected it to PC and mount the sdcard, the sdcard size was suggesting that there should be data on it but there was nothing inside when I tried to open the folder. This was the first time this issue was happening to me.
So the next best thing that I had in mind was to factory reset the phone in TWRP and reinstall the ROM (Xenon HD) and then GApps. Well everything was fine and the ROM booted but since in the latest update of the ROM, root was not present, I went to recovery and installed Magisk 14.0 and then restarted it. After the restart, I notice that the phone boot loops in the ROM splash screen. So I gave it another try to reset my phone but this time only formatting the system like usual way of installing ROM. This is where the issue happened.
Every time I tried to wipe or install anything, at the first and and the end of the log, it states that "Failed to mount '/devlog' (invalid argument)". I thought it was normal and I proceeded with reinstalling the ROM but it won't boot and gets stuck in boot loop. I tried to search for this specific error but in every site, failing of mounting data or system or cache or all of them together with devlog was mentioned but not devlog by itself. I tried many ways suggested in the forums like:
Installing newer version of TWRP
Formatting the partitions to ext2 then reformat to ext4
but non helped.
I really appreciate if anyone could help me figure out how to solve this issue I'm facing. My phone is HTC M7 GSM, S-OFF and the latest GPE firmware is installed.
Thank you
I reflashed my firmware since, when I did getvar, it was showing blank version-main. This solved the error in the TWRP ( /devlog) BUT every time I try to install any ROM, after installation, it shows the ROM splash screen but then it boots loops forever. I tried many ROMS from Lolipop to Noughat all having the same problem. The other thing I forgot to mention after this issue happened there is now a black stagger line under the HTC logo whenever the phone boots. This was not there before and it only happens in that stage of booting.
I appreciate any help
