settings>about software version
what were you running and what are you now running
other than that I dunno
You sure your camera button wasn't on your dock? When it is on the dock it will not show up in the app drawer.
As far as the device basically factory resetting itself..... I have no idea

I am locked, stock and 4.2.1. I am still having major performance issues. Sometimes it takes a few presses of the button to wake up. If it wakes up in landscape, it takes forever to rotate and unlock. Updating or downloading an app? Forget doing anything else while that's happening. System freezes till app is updated or downloaded and installed. Also getting a random reboot about twice a week.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to know. I'm hesitant to factory reset, only because of game data and various other things.
Thanks

Turn of currents auto sync

That has been done, but thank you . Also cleared cache through storage setting.
I just cleared cache through recovery, so we will see how that goes. Didn't think of doing that before.

Factory reset is your best bet then if turning currents off did not work after you reset you can unlock and root to since you won't have anything on it anyways then you can back up if it happens again

I'm setup the same as you complete stock didn't even unlock the boot loader and I have no issues. So if disabling currents has no effect a factory reset might be necessary. I had to factory reset my gnex after 4.2 update for it to run right. Fortunately I got the 7 after update was available so updated it before I had any data.

My wife's HTC One (non-root) recently received an update. However, it will not install after several attempts.
I get a constant reminder that system update is available, so I'll download over my wifi, click install, and that's where things go bad.
It says install ok, but when I click "install now", the phone reboots, has a pic of a phone with a green refresh circle for a brief moment, then immediately rete green circle is replaced by a red triangle with an explanation point inside it.
After a minute or 2, the phone reboots once again with a notification to install the update. :banghead:
Any help would be appreciated

Today this random notification popped up on my phone and i wanted to know if it was legit and not some malicious app or anything like that. A screen shot is attached.
I long pressed the notification and pressed app info and i took me to the dialer. I dont know if that is of importance.

I have never seen this extension pop-up, I would say its mostly likely spam or advert. I would download Airpush Detector from the android market and see what is says. I have included a link for you too. Hope this helps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&feature=nav_result
I had this about a week ago too. I haven't seen it since...

Me too. Popped up a few weeks ago. Then went away.
Today its back
Can you both list the apps you have installed? I will download the same apps and try and troubleshoot for you. Thanks

Try and boot the phone in safe mode (switch the phone off, switch on normally but when the screen lights up, press and hold volume down until booted). This will prevent any 3rd party apps from starting. Then see if you get the notification still.

I kept noticing my touchwiz launcher redrawing it's self every time I went to home. So I downloaded nova which I noticed it told me that don't keep activities was on in developer options. It seems I can't disable it now. When I turn it off and go back its back on every time. Same for if I turn off developer options. It just turns back on. What a weird glitch. Can anyone help?

If you look at the bottom of the screenshot, it is not there even though it was there hours ago.
Edit: screenshot did not get attached, so linking to it here.

I had the same thing happen to me. I also use goodluck for the screenshot button, and it was still there. After a restart it came back and has not vanished again. Maybe just a fluke?

Your tip fixed the problem with one caveate: After the phone booted up, after I unlocked the screen, the phone rebooted by itself. This repeated 5 times before stopping. WEIRD
I think I figured out what is causing it. If I go into the secure folder, and then let the screen timeout, when I unlock the screen again it makes the buttons disappear. I think it might be a bug in Pie and OneUI
