PRL Information and Updating:
Thank you digiblur(PRL guru) for letting me kang some of your OP. I really appreciate it. Go thank this guy naowz!
Take a moment and read this article before reading any further: What is a prl? Part 1 Part 2
prl series - acct- device
25xxx = residential acct - lte/800smr
24xxx = business acct (some 3g roaming added) - lte/800smr
55xxx = residential acct - worldphone lte/800smr
56xxx = corporate acct (vzw 3g roaming) - worldphone lte/800smr
16xxx = corporate acct (vzw 3g roaming) - lte/800smr
11xxx = corporate acct (vzw 3g roaming) - no lte/no 800smr
12xxx = corporate acct (vzw 3g roaming) - no lte/low priority 800smr
60xxx = residential acct - no lte/no 800smr
21xxx = residential acct - no lte/low priority 800smr
51xxx = iphone5 - low priority 800smr

xxx13 - dfw, chicago, baltimore, north ca, atlanta, boston, houston, indianapolis, kansas city, new mexico, new york, orlando, san antonio and southern california
prl change logs and full analysis' can be found on this website:
www.batonrougebroadband.info this is digiblurs site the guy is full of info
prl 00001, 00002, 00003, and 01337 are modded prls that force your phone to use verizon's network for voice and 3g prl 15094, 15096, 17098 are prls that force you to use us cellular's network for voice and 3g. Use these for testing purposes only. I do not recommend or condone using them 100% of the time. You will not be able to determine when you are roaming. You won't even be able to tell if you roaming internationally!! There is a 300mb data cap and other minute based roaming caps with sprint. Myself or this website are not responsible if you break your terms of service and get your contract terminated. Discussions about how to get your contract terminated using these non-sprint prls will not be tolerated and will be deleted. If verizon/uscc works for you and sprint's service does not, then you need purchase verizon/uscc service.
Common prl myths
1. A prl is not a list of towers. It's a list of cell phone systems that your phone searches for.
2. It will not make your phone connect to different sprint 3g towers.
3. It will not give you better sprint pcs band 3g or 1x coverage.
4. It will not give you better lte coverage.
5. An update is not required for new cellular sites.
6. The only time a prl update will give you better native sprint coverage is when 800mhz smr (bc10) support is added and enabled in your area.
7. You can not use at&t, vzw, or us cellular lte with a use of a different prl
8. Don't believe the nonsense and lies that a sprint rep will tell you about prls (they were never trained on prls and only go by rumors and hearsay instead of facts)
Thank You gunfromsako for letting me kang part of your post.
PRL updating without a pc:
NOTE: This will only work on sense roms with epst support.
How to change the build.prop:
There are a few ways to change build.prop. The easiest imo is to use an app like kernel tuner to change it. KT even has a nice backup and restore option. You could also take your favorite file explorer and navigate to /system and open build.prop as text and edit there. If you are adb savvy then you could pull the file, edit it with a program like notepad++, and push it back to your device with proper permissions.
Code:
ro.build.type user
to
ro.build.type dev
1. Extract the PRL.zip attached below
2. Move your chosen PRL to your device
3. Reboot and let the system fully load (or there will be lag in EPST) and enter dialer.
4. Enter ##778# and choose edit. Enter MSL and choose prl.
5. Select update prl and select a prl from your sd card.
6. Select menu in the upper right corner and commit modifications.
7. EPST will reboot the device and the prl should be applied.
8. It is always a good idea to update your profile after a prl change. Enjoy!
9. If you want to go back to your default PRL just go into settings and update PRL.
OMJ has an option in his MOD Pack to make the change for you,if you use his MOD Pack please thank him.
Attached below is a script OMJ wrote that will make the build.prop change for you no file explorer needed just flash in recovery. Please thank him.I'm not 100% sure it will work on the HTC One he originally wrote it for the HTC Evo 4G LTE.
Use at your own risk manually updating your PRL could brick your device!!!

Go to www.sprint.com and initiate a chat session with one of the sprint reps. The one I got on chat was more than willing to give me my msl. Then after the session they will even email the whole chat conversation to you.

Could you get the 56015 to stick the second time after going to 55015? I can't get mine to 3g roam after, only 1x. Tried about 5 times or so. Does anybody have any suggestions on getting it to work? Thanks.

I am running viperrom and it has EPST. My steps were to clear MRU under modem setting then selecting 56015 prl twice and then it restarts. I then update the profile and select CDMA only and then roaming only. Under setting it shows the PRL as 56015 but only pulls in 1x speeds for some reason now. 3G worked the first time I flashed it but haven't had any luck since trying to get it back on.

Anyone have any ideas?

Weird. Roaming is supposed to be a network setting and is not made automagically by the rom. Are there chances you enabled it before the flash?

I tried the newest baseband i could find to no avail. i tried punching in all my apn settings manually, nothing. I was able to connect and register on FIDO umts and gsm networks but it still said I was in roaming.
I was doing a bit of googling earlier and some ppl were saying that it's got something to do with many of the roms are running gingerbread and that the p990hn has no love for gingerbread atm. I just kinda skimmed but that's what I got from it.
I'm going to see try a froyo rom for the 2x and see if I encounter the same issue.

"Of course you wont be charged more.
Just an FYI, you are ON the Fido network even if it says Rogers or roaming on rogers. When you roam outside of the Fido/Rogers network, on something like AT&T or T-Mobile, then you are roaming on a different network, not only that, you get a text message to remind you that you are on a foreign network. Hope this helps."
That was quoted from the fido forums.. so apparently its already on fido but because the coding is not right and no official gingerbread support its considered roaming but wont be charged extra money.. I wont be able to know until next month and even still its a risk.

Ok i confirmed this info i found on the net and it works fine.
"APN: internet.fido.ca

After calling Fido, it seems that using National Datat Roaming on the Rogers network is allowed, and there is no extra billing since it's what the Nexus has to do as well. Cool. I guess someone can close this if they want."
So I just put that info in and it works.. I can make calls and use data... make sure you click use data roam

In an attempt to help tidy up this forum a bit, this thread has been created to centralize all discussion related to LTE on the Nexus 4.
*NOTE* DON'T CREATE ANY OTHER THREADS REGARDING LTE. USE THIS THREAD TO ANNOUNCE OR DISCUSS ANYTHING INSTEAD!
In order to enable LTE on your device, follow efrant's guidance below:
efrant said:
Here are all the things you need (checklist):
1) An LTE SIM
2) LTE coverage
3) LTE enabled in the radio settings on the N4 (dial *#*#INFO#*#* in the dialer, and select LTE/GSM auto in the "Set preferred network type")
4) The proper APN for LTE for your carrier (you will need to get this info from your carrier) inputed into your N4 AND selected
5) An LTE compatible data plan
6) LTE provisioned on your account.
Note that most carriers do not support VoLTE (i.e., voice over LTE), so you need to select LTE/GSM auto in the settings, and not LTE only in the N4 settings in point #3 above.
While all the above items are required, some carriers already have some of them by default. For point #6 above, if your carrier does not have this enabled by default, you will have to call in to make sure it is there. If they don't want to add it, explain to them that you bought an LTE device from outside of your country and you want to be able to use LTE. Ask them, if need be, to add a dummy IMEI to your account to allow provisioning. You may have to call back a few times until you speak to a CSR that actually knows what they are talking about. If you can't get anywhere with that, then you can try putting your SIM in an LTE device that is supported by you carrier and then call them to make sure that LTE is provisioned on your account, then try that SIM in your N4.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
For point #3 above, you can find a collection of the radios from here - [REF][RADIO]Mako modem collection.
As you'll see written in the OP of the above thread, if you want LTE enabled DON'T flash the 0.48 radio as it disables LTE functionality. Flash one of the previous radios instead.
LTE Supported Carriers and Regions
Among your discussions, please post telling me if LTE works with your carrier so I'll be able to add it to this list.
Bump
Please keep all further discussion/support in this thread as all other threads will be closed. Thanks for your cooperation

I'm trying to get T-mo LTE working on my N4. I have CM 10.1 and the .33 radio. I can go into the 4636 menu, set any of the LTE choices from the drop down, and the network type in that menu says LTE, but I can't get any data to go through. I never get the 4G icon near the signal bar and it never turns blue to show it's connected to Google. I have the fast APN set, all I did was change the original from epc to fast. Is there a step I'm missing?

Guys, what's done is done. The mods all seem to agree on it so they probably discussed this already. Let's move on.
For T-Mobile USA carriers, use this for your APN:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39653099&postcount=106
It worked for me.
Las Vegas T-Mobile LTE. I was told it's only 10 MHz (for now until the Metro PCS merger, assuming that goes well with the stockholders) at 2x5 MHz. Can't wait to see the speed increase once they go to 20 or even 40 MHz!

OK, so which roms are perfectly compatible with the .33 radio and LTE and Tmobile? It seems to be the policy of molesarecoming and PA that they will not support older radios and LTE on Tmobile, with his recent comments this afternoon. So does Cyanogenmod work with the .33 radio on Tmobile with regards to voice calls?

CM-based ROMs (and possibly AOKP based ROMs) will work. AOSP based ROMs don't appear to work.
I can confirm that Xylon and CarbonROM work with the .33 radio.
For those coming from PA, Xylon has pie and hybrid settings now. CarbonROM also has pie and per-app settings. I tried both of these ROMs and think they're pretty good. I used hybrid settings a lot in PA so the transition to Xylon felt more intuitive to me.
Great speeds in Silver Spring, MD. Pretty much same results for the Wheaton and Rockville, MD areas as well. I'm still on stock 4.2.1.

Use ES file explorer to open build.prop which is in /system via es note editor. Then do the following :
Replace telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0 with telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1
Note that this will have to be redone when switching it updating ROMs (ie flashing new Cyanogenmod nightlies)
It also allows you to enable or disable LTE through the mobile networks settings menu and with CM10.1 you can add an LTE quick toggle to the quick settings panel.

Wildfire, patience I note is a virtue...and given the short amount of time this device went to several stable 4.2.2 versions, it's worth the wait. Meanwhile I'm going to figure out which GAPPS is compatible with 4.3, because the 20130308 version doesn't appear to be..

Ok...so the gapps I have that works with PACman Milestone (20130812) is probably ok?
(5 mins later after reading another thread) CRAP! nope that gapps is for 10.1/4.2.2 not 10.2/4.3.X!!!!
I apologize to the moderators since this is in the wrong place, but I can't post to the development forums yet. In response to albinoman887's request to test in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343586&page=76 I flashed the zip released this morning and then flashed the boot.img. I have also removed the linero.config.svdo=true from my build.prop. The radio is not getting a stable connection. Wifi and camera work and I can see both the internal and external SD cards. If you need anything further, I'll be happy to test for you.
A little more information: When it's not working, I can go into the APN list and it's blank. Clicking on add then backing out if it causes all of the AT&T APNs to appear. It won't fix the issue however, because after a few seconds it clears out again.

hey there. try two things.. first of all... add that build prop setting back.. reboot.. when you get the apns to come up again. check the default apm. see what the APN type is, is it just default? if it is, delete it and find the apn that has this as APN type : default, supl, hipri. then set that apn to default...
i found this "fix" here.. by googling your issue dont know if it will fix or not...but i guess you do want that build.prop setting i just talked to dastin

The default APN is ATT Phone and the type is default,supl,mms.
I created a new one like the previous ATT Phone, except for changing the APN type to what you suggested above. Still getting the same results.

yeah. i think you want ATT LTE to be default. look through all of them and find the one that says APN type default, supl, hipri. and make that your default
EDIT: yeah i dont think its just that setting that is different...there are more...so instead do what i said above. look for the one that is already set up with that as the apn type. (i think its ATT LTE) and set it as default

ok, hey 3 more posts and you can post in the dev forum!
Something went wrong, as now I can't get the APNs to show up at all. I'm going to wipe and start over. If you need me on hangouts I'm there for a little bit. I'll have a meeting to go to in about an hour and a half.

One thing I've noticed just now is that as long as I'm connected to wifi, the radio is stable. I can make calls, send texts, etc. The APN list doesn't disappear either. Hope that helps.
---------- Post added at 01:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 PM ----------
Yeah this seems to be related to wifi somehow. Calls instantly go to voicemail with wifi turned off. With it turned on I can get my calls and I'm showing a 4G connection.
Same results as far as the data / radio with the 08/26 11:25AM build. I can say that the camera works for me...even Focal. I can also state that both internal and external SD cards work as well as wifi.
FYI: I've deleted all APNs except for the ATT LTE one and I've set it as default.

There are three Preferred network modes available:
LTE/WCDMA
LTE/GSM/WCDMA (the default)
GSM/WCDMA preferred
When I try to change to a different one, it reverts back to LTE/GSM/WCDMA
We may have the signal issue under wraps. Unless albino wants to use the newer libril then he will do testing and my new pac rom will update to that once it has stability. currently we are working on camera and maybe even fixing sdcard mounting via usb mass storage
I stumbled upon a thread in the N5 forums where they needed to go in and manually enable bands 26 and 41 on their devices in order to enable Sprint Spark (network speeds of 50-60mbps).
I followed their instructions on my S4 and low and behold, we have the LTE programming menu containing "enable band 26" and "enable band 41" in it. I have my MSL, so I tried to edit it, but every time I check the boxes to enable the bands, the settings don't stick.
I'm currently running TriForce 4.0 (4.3) and I have this option. I'm still working on a few things but thought some people could collaborate here so we can get this going. I don't see why our phones wouldn't support the new network. If it's a hardware limitation, someone please enlighten me.

I don't think the hardware is there to support it; that's why they are coming out with the SPH-L720T model which adds the two LTE bands (but loses VoLTE unfortunately).
This sort of thing has been done before... T-Mobile did something similar with the S3 - releasing a late variant which added LTE support.
I took the ota to 4.3...when I view my settings it shows band 26 and 41 already enabled.

Samsung can't have the device use those bands without having it approved by the FCC first so I went back to the FCC docs to see if Samsung sought band 26 and 41 support to the SPH-L720 since it was initially approved and they haven't. My guess is that the 720 and 720T may share the same firmware and that's why you are seeing that. Either that or they have started selling the 720T and that's the one you have (though I didn't think they did that yet).

Doh! That should have been "no support for SVLTE" instead of VOLTE. Sprint's network doesn't support VoLTE yet.
It doesn't lose VoLTE... VoLTE isn't hardware related its just any type of VOIP program but on LTE.. Or at least I think so

Correct. See the message right above yours (i.e. message #5).
luckily i am in a sprint spark market... i will definitely update everyone on this soon
but one thing i did notice is that when i click on it to enable, then go back to the same menu it unchecked itself. so the possibility isnt entirely there but we can hope right?

The topic of the post that was linked in the OP was for a Nexus 5. This is a Galaxy S4 forum section. Therefore you have to use the code ##3282# instead of *#*#3282#*#* on the S4. [Not Confirmed:] You also must be using the MJA modem in order to access these new bands.
Edit:
Go to this post to learn how to get your MSL.

What's the point of all this if the hardware in the current S4 variant can't support it? It's like putting a rocket engine button inside a Toyota Corolla. You can press it a hundred times but it still won't make flames come out the back of the car.
Im on Triforce 4.1 MJA and i do not see these band options. Yes i did ##3282# and i do have my msl.

Alright time to get in on this topic, I have a question. I have a sprint s4, im rockin the mja modem,on sac's 4.2 rom and have input the dialer code and do see band 26 and 41, I checked the boxes and when I did it went from [off] to [on] but once I back out and re-enter where these options are the boxes remain checked but state its [off].
So does this mean I enabled the bands, but at the moment there off cause I'm not in a area that supports these bands ? ( can't clarify weather I am in a area that supports these bands or not just guessed this is why this is happening).
Thanks in advance

Exactly. This thread makes no sense on this phone. The hardware doesn't support tri-band LTE.

Idk if that answer is directed at me or not but if so...I've changed a few things in this section (##3282#) a few times in the past such as ehrpd,multimedia,data profile and so on and have never saved my choices after making changes they've always just stuck.
Although saving them does make sense but there is no such option. If I were to press the settings button while in this menu nothing pops up? The choices I made do stick to a extent like turning on LTE the box stays checked and it does stay [on] but as for the bands...the boxes stay checked but don't stay [on].
(Screenshot attached).
Which brought me to To the conclusion that i enabled them but there currently off at the moment due to me not recieveing a signal from these bands due to me not being in a supported area..just a guess though, I can't confirm weather I am in a supported area or not.
NOTE:This isn't how these options are I cropped 3pics and made em into one fyi

Wow! Very disappointing to hear but good to know that the phones you listed in the other thread are tri-band supported. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to upgrade my sprint s4.
So LTE and EHRPD is the most I'm gunna see out of this device huh....bummerrrr but I'm still happy with it just looking to get even more out of my device and my hands on but no worries.
Thanks again for clearing that up,

Hey everyone, just was wondering if anyone else was having this issue where the phone won't connect on LTE mode on virgin mobile. Every so often I won't get any connection at all unless I set it to cdma only. I then need to go into dss and reset the connection.
I've tried multiplie roms, kernels, the universal apn fix etc.

It seems like you may have a weak signal to me. I don't think ROMs, kernels, or any fixes can help you in this matter. Does it happen everywhere you go or just in certain locations?
It happens everywhere, I was doing some digging online and it seems to be a fairly common issue. I tried multiple kernels etc because I noticed that it seemed to be better with different ones. Also sometimes, like now, my lte signal is great.
cant get LTE anywhere anytime
I have had this issue since I first flashed this phone back in December with CM11 I called virgin mobile back then and the told me that it wasn't my problem it was a issue they where having in my area so at the time I agreed with them and they even have me half off my bill $18 refund. Since then I have noticed that it wasn't them it was something caused by me flashing the phone. I've been on 5 different Roms and a few kernels nothing seems to change it but I'm not to concerned with it I still get great speed with it in 3g plus I'm on WiFi 18 hours a day so don't really effect me. BUT WHAT IS: I can't sent MMS messages or receive them right now I can't get the IP address etc for the network to work I tried flashing the VMU APN fix but when I did it caused WiFi not to be available (won't turn on) I'm currently on RaptorRomv2. Please if anyone could help with a solution that would be appreciated thanks.

Hello,
Are you on 1.48.652.2 or 1.47.652.1? I'm on Boost Mobile and I noticed the radio was updated on 1.48.652.2 from 1.46.40.1113_2 to 1.46.40.0721. I noticed I get better signal in my area with the new radio. LTE has never been a problem for me, but if you haven't upgraded, maybe this will help you.

That is the newest one, so I don't what to tell you. I have seen quite a bit of people on this forum with LTE/signal problems only with Virgin. I think it is on their side. It is weird, though, since they are a Sprint MVNO and no one on Boost is complaining of these problems.
So 1.46 is newer than 1.48 hows that make sense. I guess it does make Sense run huh lol

I think you misunderstand. 1.48.652.2 is the updated software/RUU that includes everything. 1.46.40.0721 is the updated radio for 1.48.652.2. The old software 1.47.652.1 had the old radio 1.46.40.1113_2. You can get the old software RUU and see if the radio works better for you. If it doesn't, Virgin has a problem that they have to fix.
Here's an update from me, I don't know what happened but I have not had the LTE/3G issue for a while now, pretty much sine the day after I posted this thread. On my end I am going to call this fixed. Only thing I can think is that the software did update from then till now so perhaps it fixed the issue.
