Hi, im looking to upgrade my hd2 I've been thinking on the sensation but it is rather expensive and the only differences are processer speed, gpu and screen res. Now im wondering how well would this phone cope with future updates is it going to be left behind like the HTC desire. How good is the CPU /gpu and can it run intense graphic games well?

If you need processing power for ... Idk what you need more than a single core 1ghz for, go for it. If you game, go for it. If you do heavy heavy multitasking, go for it.
The screen on the inc s is better, though it has lower res.
I've had the o2x and atrix and haven't noticed any speed issues.
Dual core doesn't show until you need it to. If you don't need it, save the money and get this. It's still great. People live without phone upgrades for years, I think you'll be fine.
From previous experience, if your debating its probably a sign that dual core is too much power haha

Hmm so you've had a dual core phone and don't see any difference with the Inc s? Also im just wondering how future proof this device will be, will it still be super fast in say a years time?

I am thinking about buying Htc Sensation. The cons is that angle views for this device are poor. Incredible S has really great display. You may check YouTube for IS x Sensation display comparison.

It is an awesome phone imo....
I got a great trade on this (x10 for this lol), and don't really feel the need for a dual core phone.
If you are getting this on contract I would say to go for the sgs2, but if you're just purchasing a new phone, for the price I think this is the best single core phone you can get right now.
The screen is amazing, the ui extremely smooth and responsive, good battery life, etc....
Also had a lg O2X. Like the HTC incredible S much more. A better phone in all aspects besides the build quality. Had an HTC desire hd also and the screen size is to big for me.
Dual core is just a nice to have and updates can always be replaced by custom roms.
So unless you definitely want the newest hardware I would say the incredible S is the best price quality out now..

I just bought my IS in the CPW sale for £269, I traded in my Desire which originally cost me £400 just over a year ago, so I actually parted with an extra £143. You loose a lot of money on 1 year old phones.
Sure, I would have liked either a HTC Sensation or perhaps a Samsung Galaxy S II, but owning the latest/fastest gadget is an expensive pastime.
I decided on the IS because it has bags of app space, extra ram, a nice sized screen and good build quality.
However, I'm actually on my 2nd IS within 3 days, my O2 phone signal appears to fluctuate quite badly and sometimes vanishes completely, not good! A phone exchange was my first option but that doesn't appear to have helped, so now I'm waiting for my new sim card to activate to see if that cures the problem.

ive never owned a 4.3" device but i would definitely say from playing with both in the shop that the extra bulk of a 4.3" phone is WAY more noticeable than the actual increase in screen size.

So I don't even know if this is the right place for this question( however I know there isn't a thread already about it).
I know that this phone get's horrible Benchmark ratings why is that? I work for RadioShack and my cowork(cousin and neighbor) has the Samsung Galaxy S2 and it is as Borat says "King of the Castle". So my question is, does anyone think I could beat his score? I mean I didn't order this phone to be a powerhouse but a 1700-1900 quadrant score isn't great. I have a Droid Charge(work provided) and my highest score is 875 !!!!!!!!!!!!! So that will be fast to me, but curious on what people think could happen. I know that there are overclocked cousins of this phone(Raider???) at 1.5 ghz, benchmarks on them?????? Thanks for everyone's thoughts.

Benchmarks mean nothing. It's like saying who has the biggest e-peen. To me HTC makes quality devices compared to Samsung. Once we have perm root and start having custom roms, the benchmarks for the vivid will be higher.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
Thank you, I have always liked HTC, I had a Inspire and liked it. I think I will like the Vivid, just wanted a little more performance out it if possible. Plus the f2.2 lens(IDK what that means) is nice.
One big thing is processor ..HTC uses Qualcomm which do not give top performance ...but than you get radio which would be way better than Samsung as far data rates or power or switching between LTE/hspa.
Unfortunately not all aspects are tested by benchmarks. I trust HTC build quality over Samsung and so went with HTC.
So don't buy a phone based upon benchmarks etc...

Screw benchmark numbers.. if a device feels fast enough to satisfy its user, then it's fast. A stupid number created for the sake of argument and arrogance won't justify how fast or slow a phone feels to the person holding it.
Just my opinion.. lol.

I agree, and like you said, it's just a number. In a dogfight I watched between the vivid and an att sgs2 and the vivid loaded pages and videos faster.
It's heavier but that and the better materials makes it feel great in hand. I had an sgs2 and traded it about 2 Weeks street getting it from clove.
Don't let numbers get to you because that's all they are. Qualcomm chips never have done well on quadrant as far as I know.

Truly benchmarks mean crap. I do however like my phone to get decent marks. And I haven't researched this phone through and through, but i assume it's running sense seeing as it's htc. Sense is a resource hog, and also hurts bench. But on these newer devices is smooth as butter and performs better than most. As development continues and devs make the roms leaner scores will go up. Just feel good that you have a phone that gets ok benchmarks but still kills other devices and is built well.
I own the evo 3D and it's benchmarks sucked balls at first, but it's coming around, and is the smoothest phone i've ever held. HTC has the best phones imo..

I just placed an order yesterday for this new phone.
This will be my first android, giving the iPhone 4 that I currently use to my little sister.
Specs seem decent:
1.2GHz Dual Core
4.5" qHD screen
1GB Ram
8MP 1080p camera
1.3mp front facing camera
LTE Support also with HSPA+
I am really excited to get it, I played around with one at the cell shop here in canada.
I liked it's design over the Samsung Galaxy S II, not sure if I made a mistake ordering this phone though.
Anyone have this or are getting it?
I have no idea how to overclock and/or root (or even what I could do with a rooted phone for that matter lol)

He just answered your concern "not being sure if you made the right decision" between this and SGS2. Most of the stuff posted under Vivid forums about HTC Vivid is ok, that means no problems with the device, therefore you made a good choise. There are many threads opened on this regard, so there's enough opinion for you to read. I've played with both SGS2 and Vivid, and the Vivid was the winner for me even over the Skyrocket.
Sent from my HTC Vivid via Tapatalk
You haven't made a mistake in ordering it. I had a Captivate and, for a day, the Skyrocket before moving on to the Vivid. A piece of paper is built better than the Skyrocket, or just about any plastic-laden Samsung for that matter. You will not be disappointed. Coming from an iPhone 4, you won't see that much of an improvement going from a Retina screen to the 4.5" qHD one on the Holiday (Vivid/Raider), but the resolution is there and it's very pleasing.
Eventually, true root will be coming to this device. Just for reference, the processor is actually 1.5 GHz but is underclocked to 1.2 for better battery life.
Amazing. Now all I can do is wait for it to be shipped to me.
I've heard good things about it, and some not so good things.
I did (while playing at a bell store) prefer its design over the SGS2.
It was so cool and I hope to eventually root and clock it back to 1.5 ghz.
This will be my first android, and from what it seems, spec wise it blows the iPhone 4 out of the water

The lack of bootloader unlock along with the horrible multitasking has me with a major case of buyer's remorse. Before I return it though I want to have full knowledge of what to replace it with.
I've owned an Inspire and thought it was a terrific phone.
I see there's lots of development going on with the Vivid and that's great. I just don't want to make another mistake
Wait for the bootloader unlock, the HTC ONE X is 1000x better than the vivid.

The Vivid has a Snapdragon S3 dual core clocked at 1.2. The One X has a Snapdragon S4 dual core clocked at 1.5. S3 is made on the 40-45nm process and is based on the ARM Cortex A9 reference designs. The S4 is made on the new 28nm process and is based on ARM Cortex A15 reference designs. Both being "based" on the reference designs, tells you they were custom designed in house by Qualcomm. The major difference between the 2 chips is not in clockspeed, but in the manufacturing process used to fabricate the chips. The 28nm process means better battery life compared to the S3s.

pls advise me on technical things as I'm planning on upgrading from my stupid galaxy y.

snapdragon 600 claims a 40% increase in CPU performance, coming from S4 pro. Wireless charging is nothing great, you have to stupidly fix the phone on a particular position on the charging mat. And for your information, One has 1.7GHz
Sent from my DHD
The performance of the Nexus 4 is rather bad compared to other S4 Pro phones, as it suffers badly from thermal throttling - that is, the CPU heats up and the phone makes it run slower to stop it from getting any hotter. So the One should be a lot faster than the N4.
The gap between the One and one of the faster S4 Pro phones (like the Sony Xperia Z, which is very nippy) will be narrower, but it should still be faster for most things. (Possibly only barely faster for games, though).

m7 will have more usable screen size due to not using onscreen soft keys (thankfully). Far better build quality. I have a suspicion the m7 won't feel faster (if not slower) than the N4 but that is due to software. It is hard to beat the speed of AOSP regardless of what specs you throw at it. Now that said, with some custom roms (especially if the m7 sees AOSP) the m7 will most definitely be faster. However I would be quite surprised if Sense 5 doesn't feel at least some "lag" Vs. an N4 stock vs stock just due to AOSP vs Sense.
I wouldn't even consider the N4 personally. There isn't really anything I liked about it (I had 2). I went back to my Lumia 920 over the N4. If it wasn't for the Note 2 I probably would have gone back to the GS3 waiting for the GS4/m7/etc.. coming soon. I could list all the things I didn't like about the N4 but that is not really what this is about and there is plenty of that information around .
Having owned all of these phones I fully intend to try the m7 next, regardless of what Samsung announces for the GS4. I like Samsung's products but I look forward to a phone that will look and feel a bit more elegant, something I would be very (happily) surprised if GS4 accomplishes.
As far as wireless charging goes, I seem to be one of the minority that care. I would have loved to see it, though it is definitely not a deal breaker and implementation is key. The N4 wireless charging was a horrible experience, but the Lumia 920 was awesome at it. I could toss it on the pad in any direction partially off the pad and it would still charge fine. I do miss that, but it is not at the top of my list. It's nice not having to deal with the micro usb plug at 1am and your trying to go to bed in the dark .
There is one reason why I'll probably be sticking to the N4 and that's HTC's policy of locking down phones. When I drop £500 on a phone I expect to be able to use it however I want to. They can take my warranty away if they want to but at least give me the choice.

Besides all discussion about performance and rooting possibilities: I hope to

N4 could fall on almost any edge to break and hope to feel better with one.
