How to Install CWM Recovery in Galaxy Mini S5570 Smartphone?
So, let's begin. Follow instructions below to install latest cwm recovery in your galaxy mini handset.
Make sure you have got Gingerbread OS on your galaxy mini : Upgrade to GB if you don't have.
Download Odin Multidownloader v4.38 for GTS5570, Tass_v1.ops and latest Clockwork Mod Recovery if you do not have them already. You can download them from here.
Run Odin Multi downloader v4.38 and select the Tass_v1.ops by clicking OPS button.
Select One Package Option and Click One Package button and select the recovery file name (CWM-5.0.2.8-Touch2-yagya.tar.md5) file you downloaded.
Leave other settings to default (i.e. don’t change any other options/settings)
When you are done reboot your phone in download mode (Press Volume Down + Home + Power button to go to download mode)
Connect your phone in download mode to your computer via USB Cable.
When Odin detects your phone (If you see a com port number written in yellow background at the top left, then your phone is detected. View image.), click Start button.
Wait till Odin finishes the job (approx. 3-5 minutes) and when it reports ‘PASS’, you can disconnect your phone.
That's all. You have flashed latest CWM recovery on your device.

I think you misunderstood....
I know it's easy flashing an update directly via CWM recovery. I just posted these since many people asked me to do so.
I guess some users still prefer flashing recovery via Odin unlike you or me.

Not apply from CWM recovery...
I said from stock Gingerbread recovery..
Just put zip file to sd card (not in folder)
Get in to recovery then just apply update ..
No lappy or desktop needed.. No download mode..
Just bluethoot the zip to my friend, then made it...
Easyest way..

Yea, guyzz. I got you all... I know we can flash CWM updates via recovery but,
let me be clear Some guyz out there still would like to give this a try. So, can we just stay out of this. Those who need will use and those who don't will not.
Why should you or me get a headache for such a small reason?

Because you are using stock rom. You need custom roms like CM7 for this to work properly. You can get one at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com and then try again. It will work nicely.
I got an error:
"cannot open the usb serial port. code: 2"
what should I do? Disconnect the phone or wait?
Thank you all.
You will need to close Samsung Kies if you have it installed otherwise install USB drivers from Samsung and try again.
Thanks for your help yagya.
I have rebooted the PC, reconnected the phone and everything worked out perfectly. Now I have CWM installed and running .
Just one question, if I reflash stock ROM on the device trough Kies, will it get rid of CWM or will I still have it?
hi
i did root my samsung mini and did install "rom manager"successfully.
when i want to make a backup of the orriginal rom it says i have to install "flash clockwordmod" thru rom manager first.

Don't use it. Many users have bricked their devices using it. Although, I've used it with no problems.

ROM manager is killing our mini's depending on its mood, don't use it. Flash either CWM4.0.0.5 using Odin (harder way) or just flash CWM5 touch recovery by Squadzone in stock recovery (easy way). The last easy solution has the least chance to something go wrong

mmm, this looks like an update, guess i need the correct installable version first.
got a new problem going on.
i did an "update.zip" file put on the sd-card, after realizing it was not a correct file and did delete the zip file.
Now after reboot into (orriginal recovery mode) the "update.zip" is still an option to use while the cwm-update.zip (wich is actually on the sd-card) is not mentioned.
When trying to use the listed update file i get an error saying "file can't be found on the sd-card"
what to do?

He's right flash the stock.
But I dont think we need to root the phone to use cwm, you can install it even you arent rooted. But fyi cwm cant be used to root the phone, it must use the stock.

Yeah, possible and good solution would be to flash stock ROM via Odin. And then if you need root, follow StoneBoyTony's method for rooting. (You can find the thread here)
Another option if you like is, after flashing stock ROM, flash CWM recovery and install any Custom ROM like CM7 or MIUI or Emanon etc. Custom ROMs comes pre-rooted, so don't have to worry about root. (But remember, CWM recovery is needed for installing custom ROMs)

True. For using CWM recovery, the phone needn't have to be rooted.
True. CWM recovery can't be used for rooting, stock recovery is preferred.

thx guys for the tips !
just a few questions
1) do i again need an *.ops file while flashing back stock rom thru odin?
2) if i do need the *.ops file can i use the same or does it need to be a different one?
3) what filetype (zip or img) to use for the stock rom and where to put in odin (boot or phone)?

can anyone tell me why cwm cannot be used to root device, it can root device with 100% success and the package also don't need to be signed because of using cwm

You can change it to English, its easy if you followed the icons. I forgot to say it before to have a look at the icons for changing language.
Anyways Click Application icon (Bottom rightmost icon) > Settings (blue Gear-like icon) > Locale & Language (White colored A icon) > Select English from the list.
And, if you plan to get a different "Custom" ROM, make sure you install CWM recovery before. (Search in Development section for CWM recovery flashable via Odin)

I know in fact i've said the same thing, it's easy made a flashable zip package for do both rooting & install cwm, i can do without problems
First off I'd like to apologise if this is the wrong forum.
I'm using an old version of twrp on my i9305, 2.3.3.0 to be exact, and I would like to update it to the newest version but I'm not sure how. I've looked on their website and just found it confusing; goomanager isnt supported, it couldn't find the file when I tried using terminal emulator and I couldn't get a response from odin for some reason.
So what's the easiest way to update it for a newb like me to update it?
I believe I used the s3 toolkit last time but I'm not sure which phone to select because I'm using sentinalrom and all the options seemed to be for stock phones. No option for 4.3 phones.
Web site downloads and either cwm zip or Odin tar file .
Sorry for the stupid question but I've downloaded the cwm zip and was wondering whether I have to install cwm or can I flash it using twrp?

The basics would show that cwm is a recovery and twrp is a recovery . You flash through recovery .
So you have more than one copy of your EFS folder backed up good .

I needn't have bothered tbh. The only reason I wanted to update the recovery was because most roms wont install on my phone, which is the main reason I'm using sentinelrom, and I had hoped it was because I was using an old recovery but they still wont install.
This phone really is crap. I didn't have any of these troubles with my old x10. It might not have had the power of the s3 but I could flash things at least.
there are two kind of files you can download from the goo
the img file and zip file
the img file is for download mode and the zip file is for recovery mode
you can use mobile ordin or ordin in PC to flash the img file,or use the old version TWRP to flash the new version in recovery mode
Flashify is another way to update TWRP after downloading the recovery .img manually on your phone. Just be sure to install the right one for your device.
Apologies for the reply to a thread that's been dormant for a month.
Here is a tutorial for those of us who don't have a Galaxy Phone (or dont want the galaxy gear app) but want the watch!
UPDATE: as of 24th Nov. the method has changed.
Before you had to remove the SecSetupWizardW.apk through TWRP recovery's file manager after flashing Null_10 rom through odin.
Now all you need to do is:
note: if the watch is brand new you need to flash the V7 firmware update before flashing Null_TWRP, otherwise Null_TWRP gets messed up.
FOR NEW DEVICES:
go here and download the V7 firmware update for your region. (US can use the UK region) and here to download Odin. (the link is in the "Instructions" section. This also shows you how to enter Download Mode which you will do shortly)
once the update is done downloading unzip it. This will give you the .tar file we need to flash through Odin.
boot your watch in to Download Mode and connect to it to your computer.
open Odin and select "AP" on the right and pick the .tar file you just extracted. UNCHECK "auto-reboot" on the left because we are going to go right back into Download Mode to install Null_TWRP.
hit start.
when its done flashing you will see the top left box will say "RESET" wait until it reboots fully.
unplug your watch and reboot back into Download Mode and continue with the tutorial below.
FOR DEVICES WITH FIRMWARE "V700XXUAMK7" AND ABOVE:
if you don't have ADB and Fastboot already setup then install this Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
Flash Null_TWRP to your watch using odin. Instructions/Downlaods are on the Null_TWRP forum.
Download the new Null_11 rom(or any new rom from here on out), this will now give you a zip file (not an md5 like before so no odin!)
Open the Null_11.zip (!you don't need to extract the file, just open it! I use winrar for this personally)
go to "system -> app" find SecSetupWizardW.apk and delete it from the zip. (using winrar: right click -> Delete Files)
close the zip and move it to your ADB/Fastboot folder (for Minimal ADB and Fastboot its located at "C:/adb-fastboot")
boot your watch into recovery (instructions are same as Download Mode just select Recovery this time in the menu) and connect your watch to your computer.
open ADB and Fastboot and make sure your device is connected by typing "adb devices" it should say its in recovery.
now push the zip to your watch by typing "adb push null_rom_name_here.zip /sdcard/" wait for it to finish transferring.
on your watch click "install" and select the zip file from the list. then flash it.
finally go back to the recovery main menu and do a Wipe then reboot your watch. you should now be on the custom rom without having to pair to a phone!
after you boot into your new rom go to android settings (blue/grey icon) and enable bluetooth. Find your Phone and pair it.
(man it really doesn't seem like much until you have to type it out step by step lol)
and there you go. from stock out of the box to custom rooted rom and paired without ever coming into contact with a galaxy phone or a gear manager.
phone calls work, texting can be handled by tablet talk (personally i like it better then stock anyway), someone mentioned on the forum that tablet notifier works great for other notifications,
and once you install a keyboard you can hook up your watch to your google account and have email, play store, google search, etc working great!
note: you must connect your watch to bluetooth internet through phone to setup a google account.
Hope this helps somebody, let me know if you have any questions.
Here's a list of some apps to give you the functionality lost by not installing gear manager:
1) tablet talk for text, Tablet Notifier for everything else. (tablet notifier was mentioned on the forums, I have not personally tested it) tab let notifier has been reported to cause problems. ill look for a better notification sync later.
2)any bluetooth file transfer app for transferring photos. example: es file explorer.
3)Media Remote for music control.

I'm sorry for the confusion. The method has changed since f0mey switched the rom from .md5 file (odin) to a .zip (null_twrp recovery).
I updated the method up top but the short version is: install Null_TWRP recovery. download null_11.1.zip. open null_11.1.zip and remove SecSetupWizardW.apk (system/app folder). copy zip to your watch. flash zip from TWRP recovery.
The new method is much easier to work with so now when a new rom comes out you just open the zip, remove SecSetupWizardW.apk and flash it, much nicer.

So we unzip the null_11.1.zip file and delete SecSetupWizardW.apk and then zip it back up?
And then update through TWRP?

No just open it and remove the file. No need to extract and re-zip.

I a going to help my friend who will get the Gear today and he has a Nexus 5.
I am sure out of hue box the Gear will have the old firmware.
So what I need to do is update to the UK mK7 firmware first and then install the TWRP recovery and then install the null rom through recovery.

Ok. It looks like you need to flash your watch to the latest V7 firmware located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463743 otherwise recovery gets a little weird. No idea why.
Flashing the old null_10 ROM through Odin upgraded my firmware so I didn't notice any issue when I installed twrp.

man everything keeps changing so fast! alright I've updated the front again with instructions for flashing to the new firmware/flashing twrp/editing the null rom/moving the rom to your watch/and flashing it through TWRP.
I successfully flashed the null_11.1.zip rom.
Now I can connect to my Nexus 5. I can receive and make calls.
Now how about the rest?
1) receive notifications
2) How to transfer photos to the Nexus 5 like how it is done with Galaxy Gear?
3) how to control Media (Music files)?

1) tablet talk for text, Tablet Notifier for everything else. (tablet notifier was mentioned on the forums, I have not personally tested it)
2)any bluetooth file transfer app. like es file explorer.
3)Media Remote
as for the small TWRP icons ive posted everything I can think of to fix that so If your still having issues explore the null_twrp forum and ask them. really not sure why its still causing the issue if you have flashed the new firmware. ill upload null_10.1.md5 later tonight and you can try flashing that instead of the new v7 firmware.
