Hello my Droid 4 has problems with the touchscreen but it only happens when I touch the screen for a while. 10~15 minutes sometimes it happens earlier or sometimes i don't even get the problem at all.
Example: I'm playing minecraft and i hold the foward button for some time then the phone thinks I am not pressing the screen while I am actually pressing the screen.
It's very anoying if anyone has or had this problem please help me in any way you can.
Thanks in advance.

my power button seem to stop responding at times and it isnt the hardware thats messed up i think it has something to do with the software because when the power button stop functioning completely i do a battery pull and can turn on the phone perfectly fine its only when the phone is on is when the power button stops working...i noticed it mostly happens when i plug it into the dock maybe its the deskhome app not sure tho if anyone have this problem please let me know so i know i wont be the only one
Every phone cab have it's funky moments. I have seen this a couple times. Here is a solution I have found that works on all smart phones, and I believe that most will agree. Your phone is a computer, plain and simple. Try doing a battery pull every day our two.
It sounds like your problem is very defined in when it happens, is that so?

I do battery pulls when the power button completely doesn't work then sometimes it works for the whole day then sometimes takes me like few more battery pull after the initial pull for it to respond its annoying in some ways but I guess I'll live with it until I find the problem

hmm i think i figured out the problem if anyone still cares....when my phone is low battery or somewhat low (not above a certain percentage) my power button starts working normally.....dont know whats causing it maybe too much power hAHa
Something is definitely wonky with the phone when the screen is off... I have the lock screen disabled and it takes 3-4 presses of the volume buttons to wake the screen usually. Also, I have gosms wake the screen for certain peoples texts, and sometimes if the screen is off and I get a message from these ppl, the phone will decide it wants to vibrate for 2 mins, keep the screen on and not work at all until it resets itself... eh.

ok i know im gettin annoying with my theory's on why my power button doesnt work correctly but another thing that my power button starts working normally even at full power is when i change my wallpaper....i wonder would it be a wall paper problem although now i just think im going crazy lol
I just got my note today and have noticed one thing.
When press the power button or home button to wake the phone it takes 3 seconds for the screen to display the lock screen.
Even when want to turn off the display it takes about 2 or 3 seconds.
Anyone know a solution???

depends on the rom you are using, LA1 is virtually instant but after installing some apps it has gotten a delay
Hey Guys,
A few days ago my home button stopped working so to exit out of apps I had to press back heaps of times to get home and it was all good.. This morning I pressed the side power button when i had some water on my fingers and I think that killed the phone
Now all it does is load the Galaxy S splash screen, then 5 seconds later it will turn off and then splash screen again.
When I take out the battery and put it back in, the splash screen loads again as if im holding the power button when I'm not.
When I hold the volume down button while putting the battery in, download mode comes up but only for 5 seconds.. Then it turns off and in a few secs download mode comes back on for 5 secs etc..
Anyone know how I can fix this?
Had my SGS for 1 and a half years and only now its giving me all these problems!
Thanks.
You can try putting it into a can full of rice (literally, the phone must be surrounded by rice), just in case it is a humidity problem...
Didnt ask for a smart ass answer.
Didn't try to answer like one, go and help yourself. Bye!

Sorry I didnt realize you were actually being serious until one of my friends recommended the same thing today!
You see, sometimes it's better to ask politely if someone is being serious or just joking...
Anyway, back to your problem, did you manage to solve it?

looks like i got a lemon, screen will not turn back on however device continues to function. The touchscreen even works but you can't tell what you are clicking on.
Only way to get back to functional is to pull the battery, only happened once last week but in the last two days i've had to pull it 6 times or so.
Just posting this up in case someone else starts having the same problem. I've got a replacement being shipped out this week.
You are not the only one. Mine does it from time to time

I might have had this happen last night. Black screen, buttons lights would only flicker once quickly when pressing the power button. Pressing and holding the power button did not cause a reboot. I did not try any screen action as I could not see anything. Had to pop the battery to get the device back to working.

I got my replacement, and it still does seem to have this bug to some extent, however, this phone seems to be able to get out of the screen black if something else triggers it.
For instance, I got a phone call, and that brought it out of the black-out. Another time i just kept pushing buttons and it finally woke up.
Hopefully it's just a software bug??
Just started having problems with the display backlight not turning on when I push the power button. The phone is waking up. If there is a very bright light in the room I can see that the screen is working but there is no backlight. Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it lights up as I push the button then goes black as I let go of the button, then I can hear it relock after a few seconds. I tried taking it apart and cleaning the power button with some compressed air which seemed to help for a few days, but then got worse. :crying:
Update: so after performing the EB40 mod I have not had the problem come back in six days.
