So I see a dev thread for CM10 for the motorola milestone 2 device here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827801 and I've read through it but I'm confused about something. I thought the droid 2 global in the US on Verizon is the same as the milestone 2 device. But somewhere in that thread it's stated that I can't use that version of CM10 for that device. Can anyone just clarify to me as to whether or not I can flash that version of CM10 and have a usable phone? Thanks!
I thinks they are not the same.
They have different hardware to work properly on different networks.
So the CM10 for Milestone2 is only for the Milestone 2.
If i know well, installing a rom that is not for your device, can brick it.
Hmmmm that sounds interesting. so i guess there is no work being done to bring cm10 to the droid 2 global. oh well

There are many cases the phones died just because of wrong ROM applying...
I tried following the instructions from the CM website, but keep getting bootloops. Right after the Safestrap splash, it blanks the screen and starts over with the Motorola logo.
I'm using:
Droid3 Safestrap 3.05
ROM Slot 1
cm-10.1-20130406-NIGHTLY-solana.zip (and also tried 20130312)
JB-XT860_FIX.zip
gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
I flash the three zips all in one action.
Does anyone have an XT860 running CM10.1, and if so, did you do something different? Thanks!
Same problem here.
Searching
I've run additional searches since posting... I only find others who reported the same problem with no subsequent replies. I guess I should reword subject: Is anyone successfully running this ROM on an XT860?

Good concept; I hadn't tried it that way before... unforunately, it still bootloops, now that I've tried it. I also tried without the Gapps, and it does the same bootloop. Was there anything else you did with your install to make it work?

In HashCode's CM10.1 thread, he links to a post about enabling GSM. That post has the XT860 patch I used.

I am having this exact problem with my XT860. I've tried installing CM10.1 and AOKP with no luck. Minimoto works just fine though...

I've since also tried AOKP and also an AOKP-based PACMAN ROM for the Droid 3... nothing JellyBean working, basically. I haven't tried any ICS stuff yet... that may be next.
Similar problem with mine. But had some success.
HashCode's older JB 4.1.2 works for the XT860 with the patch: KEXEC-cm-10-20121215-UNOFFICIAL-solana.zip
On his more recent builds, not much luck. But here is what happened. I wiped, installed without patch, let it boot loop about 20 times, then it finally booted into CM10.1. It works, but I do not get GSM signal. Restarted, still bootloops. So, not stable at all.
I have no idea why letting it run through multiple boot loops eventually boots into the system. Can't think of anything that would change in each boot.
Just running MiniMoto on my XT860 overclocked to 1.2Ghz and am happy with it. I don't need anything on JB, and the camera works, lol.
Hopefully that helps a bit.
If you really want to, you can buy a XT862 off ebay for about $150 now and then just sell your XT860.

And get different bugs.
The CM10.1 nightly boot on my XT862, GSM data works again now after a recent spate of not working. However no 10.1 build has allowed me to receive phone calls. The phone app crashes on incoming calls.
Data works, outgoing calls work, incoming CRASH.
Done a bit of googling and found that supposedly CM9 roms flashed with a camera fix zip will give you a working camera in ICS, however I have downloaded and flashed the latest CM9 rom I could find (KEXEC-cm-9-20121108-UNOFFICIAL-solana.zip) and the camera fix zip yet still no working camera. Do any droid 3 roms android 4.0 and up have a functioning camera yet? Also does anyone happen to know a link to CM9 alpha 7 rom? sorry if this is in the wrong section.
cheers

¿ICS para XT860? ¡Es incredible! Mi español no está bein.
Translation: ICS for XT860? It's incredible! My Spanish is not good.
Well I wonder if HD playback is hardware enabled and does HDMI and bluetooth work? If that is the case, my phone will have some new life to it!

No ducati. It's the stock kernel looks like. I'll grab the file and see.
Gonna try out Steel droid now see how that goes. Anyone know of any working links to an MIUI rom for D3?
found an old thread about beta camera support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510485
This thread has some info about beta camera support for ICS. I've been trying it on CM10.1 JB, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm hoping once I hit 10 posts I can get a response on it with some build instructions to try rebuilding it for JB. I'm not sure what sources I should be using that patch against.

That was only a hack used on the old 2.6 kernel to get basic camera running on ics, doubt that its even possible to do the same on our new kernel and on jb
I wonder if there's a way to combine the ducati we have now with the 2.6 kernel for at least the old ICS builds? Anyone know if Hash kept the source anywhere and how it's built exactly?
What exactly is the problem on ICS/JB with the camera of the Droid 3? Is there anything that a "noob" can do to help?
the proprietary gingerbread camera drivers do not work, with ics/jellybean roms, and the d3's unique camera.
edit: d3

So… either the old drivers have to be adapted or new ones built - from "the community" or Moto. And I guess all cases are not really that likely, right?
And I'ld guess, if there was a camera (and so a driver) relatively similar to the d3's, that would already have been done. That sucks. Anybody asked Moto very, very nicely about that? ^^
I ran objdump on the camera so file and got that it was a camera.qsd8k so file. I wonder if we have a qsd8k camera? Five minutes of Googling and I'm sure the answer could come out if anyone has a good copy of the source for any of the ROMs. I can't figure out how to get it off of Github for some reason or I would try for Hash's work.

If we can use a photon Q kernel, what's stopping us from using a photon Q ROM? Would we have to build a hellraiser zip file like linuxbozo did for the infuse and captivate?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
Nothing is stopping us other than the Q using a CDMA radio while we have a GSM, maybe a difference in kernel modules or hardware libs but that would be it. I'll assume the hellraiser zip adds the appropriate files needed due to the differences in those two devices....if that's a yes, then yes we might need a zip like that.
Yeah, the hellraiser zip was a simple zip file you flashed that included device-specific libs, modem, and kernel. Since we can use a kernel, it wouldn't be that hard.
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
We probably wouldn't need much more than our specific proprietary libs to run ports/roms from the RAZR HD, M, Photon Q 4G....those are the main differences between the various custom roms (PAC/CM/Carbon/etc), though it would be best to port from a GSM model than a CDMA one. Obviously some build.prop edits would be needed.
Alright, thanks for the pointers. Here is the hellraiser zip. I'll download a photon Q rom and compare the two. I'll note the differences and see what I come up with.

The devtree is different. The screen/digitizer requires the mirror of the xt907.
I loaded a twrp BU from the Photon Q forum (JB 412) onto my xt907! I got data, calls.... But the Screen input required top left touch to activate the back soft key.
Hello,
I have a serious problem here.
After rooting my device (Motorola xt862), Wifi is no more working, always "Error".
But when I've installed a costum ROM such as CM10, it's working again !!
I thing that the problem is related to Kernel or wifi drivers such as wl12xx in the Verizon original ROM.
I've tried to copy wifi drivers from CM10 to Verizon original ROM, but this has not work. I didn't find boardconfig.mk to apply some modifications... :crying:
I'm a beginer in android developpment, is any one can show me how to modify this? maybe a tiny tutorial?
Thank you so much

Most common wifi issue is rom is built for different kernel, did you downgrade from system version 906 to 890, so you could root?

Hi,
whether i flash D3G-55 (890) or D3G-66 (906) It dosent' work. Because they have the same kernel I think.
But with a CM it is working ( a different kernel version).
