Hi,
i have a verizon droid 3, i live in Argentina and im trying to get the 3g running...
I applied the radio flash described here. 3g is still not working, but now Swype is also not working.
When I try to use it it says something about the license and it doesnt work.
I first tried it with the build.prop with the model=xt883, then changed it to droid3 but still no luck.
Anyone knows how to fix, at least my scrybe issues? And if anyone else can help me with the 3g would be awesome
Thanks!
What exactly is it not doing. And swype is probably another issue entirely.

Huh? You changed the model in build.prop to Droid 3? Pretty sure its supposed to be xt883 in the first place, your supposed to use the build.prop in the thread
And I thought the droid 3 was a global phone anyway, even the verizon version
Swype doesnt work at all, its activated but not working.
I changed the model in the build.prop just to see if this was the problem, but apparently something in the radio.img has broken my swype. Is that possible?
Btw, droid3 isnt global. Here in latin america is known as milestone 3, and apparently verizon's droid 3 is a pain in the ass if you want to use 3g here...

If you are using this device is South America then why are you trying to band unlock it? The band unlock was designed for use with AT&T & T-Mobile inside the US. If you are using outside of the US you do not need to perform this procedure.
You probably should flash your device back to stock, make sure you sim unlock it and setup your APN settings.
After flashing back to stock reboot in recovery(hold x then press and hold power, then volume up & down once you see the android!) and perform a factory data reset. Hopefully this will solve your swype issue as well.

what he said
the GSM BANDLOCK is only to prevent the phone to connect to USA networks but in southamerica as long as you have the 850 band it should work! (ATT, TELCEL MX, Others)
you should flash the stock mentioned by devicesnow
(link in my signature if you have/had version xt862 v 5.6.890 or before if you had version 5.7.90X then there are other SBFs that would help)
once in stock change to GSM mode and add APNs if you are on an 850 network it should give 3g and in an 800 (like t-mobile in USA) network should give you edge
also check you are SIM-unlocked (different from band unlocked) so you can detect sims different to verizon.
What a coincidence, I bought my Droid to DevicesNow in eBay haha
When I first received it, it never worked in 3G... I have the APN set up and everything, but still not working...
I'm now using a non-Verizon sim for calls and sms, so the phone is sim-unlocked right?
I'll try applying the sbf, but since it never worked frm the first minute.. I don't think it wil now.
Thanks for your help.

Hello axel.isr,
The Motorola Droid 3 works on 3G Networks HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100. Claro, Personal & Movistar all support 850/1900.
Yes the device is sim unlocked if you are using already for voice and sms. If it wasn't sim unlocked you would be promoted to enter a sim pin code upon powering up the device with your non network sim card installed.
Which device were you using prior to the D3? Do you have a data plan associated with your sim card? Which carrier exactly are you using and what APN settings have you entered into the device?
You can download an app that automatically enters your carriers APN settings for you called tweakker here.
So.. I went back to stock with the sbf, wiped data and everything but still no 3G.
I tried using my sim card in a ZTE N720 and I get 3g connection.
I've tried a lot of apn settings but none of them worked, I also tried Tweake with standard and alternative settigns but still no luck...
Should I have to change the radio, baseband or something? I already have the radio set up to work on GSM auto (prl).

Try turning off airplane mode then turning it on again
SuperbigextremeFacepalm for me!
I called my carrier to get the apn setting again, changed it and now I at least get Edge connection
If I want to get 3G instead of Edge is there something I can change in my D3 settings or it has something to do with the 3g coverage in my area?
Btw, thanks a lot to everyone for helping me out. Specially to DevicesNow for my awesome D3, I totally love it <3

3G will work when in coverage areas and there isn't anything that would need to be done to enable this.
Hello,
I live in a country where 3G is in 2100 Mhz band. I bought the phone unlocked but it is still showing only E even after enter the operator's 3G APN.
I am not able to use the *#*#4636#*#* code OR able to choose the network. It is greyed out.
What should I do?!
Thanks.
That 4636 menu is disabled on the Atrix HD, download the app Phone Info from the market. It will allow you to access the menu and change the network settings.

Its disable on the AT&T Atrix Hd just like on my Atrix 2 AT&T before. But for the Bell Atrix hd we can access the menu and we can change the network settings. Look for the app NETWORK from playstore but im not sure if you can change the network settings.

I'm not sure if this will work with you, but I have an unlocked Bell Atrix HD on AT&T and I had similar problems at first. I was not getting any LTE even though there is LTE in my area.
I went to the AT&T store to tell them, this is what happened: When I first went there to get a micro SIM card (I had a regular SIM), they activated a new card, and put my AHD's IMEI number on my account. This allowed my phone to text, make phone calls, and connect to HSPA+, but no LTE. Well, since this phone is an unlocked version from another carrier, the IMEI number is not recognized by AT&T. So, the system didn't know that I had an LTE phone. So what they had to do was get a real IMEI number from an AHD that they had in the store, change the last number, and apply it to my account. This then activated the 4G LTE data plan for my phone.
I would try this.

If you go to the main settings menu, then under Wireless & Networks, select More... and in the new screen that pops up, select Mobile networks, then Access Point Names, you'll have to find the APN settings for your carrier and add them manually if they don't show up when your SIM is inserted.

There is a way to access the APN list using a hidden programming menu. I don't know if the dialer shortcut will work on the version you have, but to try it, dial ##7764726 if it works and asks for a password, use 000000
One of the options should be APN controls. Hopefully T-Mobile US will be one of the APNs.
Is it possible that there might be a problem with your SIM card since some features work and others dont?

I'll try that.
It's US Cellular phone but I use T-Mobile SIM card, it was a brand new sim card. When I dailed, I kept getting "Welcome to Verizon Wireless"
Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes in a few hours.
According to US Cellular's webs site, their device supports CDMA/EVDO, since you are trying to use it on T-Mobile, you'll need to manually switch the phone to GSM/UMTS mode, or Global Mode. (App drawer -> Settings icon -> (under Wireless & Networks) More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode).
While in there under Mobile Networks, you'll also need to tap on Access Point Names... If the APN settings came down automaticlly from T-Mobile you need to select it. If no entry for T-Mobile exists, you'll need to find the settings and create one. (Google found them when I looked) NOTE: with Android JB 4.2.2 on my Verizon X (XT1060, also supports CDMA/EVDO in addition to LTE and GSM), the APN settings came down automatically. After upgrading to KitKat 4.4, I had to manually enter them.
When I setup my Verizon X for use with my T-Mobile SIM, I couldn't get MMS working for some reason, even though I was using the same APN settings as my T-Mobile Galaxy S3.
Also, keep in mind that T-Mobile uses 1700/2100 AWS for their HSPA+. As far as I know, only the T-Mobile version and GSM Developer edition supports this band, so you might not get "4G HSPA/HSPA+" with your X even after setting it up correctly. If you are lucky, and are in one of the areas where T-Mobile has completed re-farming their spectrum, you will get H+.
Good luck.

Based on that screen shot, your preferred network mode is still set to LTE/CDMA... that is wrong for T-Mobile. (SEE POST #12 of this thread!!) You want it to be GSM/UMTS or GLOBAL!! And you want to have the boxes checked for Data Enabled and Data Roaming.
You do not have options for Global Data Roaming Access and Access Point Names which I have on my Verizon Moto X, so that makes me question a few things....
In the first post you say you successfully unlocked your phone.. do you mean SIM Unlocked, or BootLoader Unlocked??
Also in the first post you mention seeing a message each time you reboot.. What exactly does the message say?
I ask because if you unlocked the boot loader, your phone could still be SIM locked and therefore not recognizing the T-Mobile SIM properly, and not giving you the Global options and APN options needed for GSM mode.

Yes, if not SIM unlocked, you're stuck. You need to get it SIM UNLOCKED.
Take a look at this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422854 apparently some are using cellunlocker [.net] to get their X SIM unlocked, although they don't have US Cellular listed when I picked MOTO X from their list, so you might have to pick "Unknown" or "not listed" for the carrier.

Do I need my SIMcard to be active? My current phone doesn't take the nano sim card, I had to reactivate my old sim card.
We made the switch to T mobile yesterday from ATT. Currently using one N900T and one N900A. The N900A seems to lose the 4G / LTE icon in the home sometimes, yet the application Network Signal Info shows it connected to the same LTE tower as my N900T. The N900A gets DNS error message when the 4G/LTE icon is not present, yet Signal Info shows it connected to LTE. Anyone know what is going on please? Thanks.
I'm using it on TMobile but I always have 4G LTE so far. Been using it on TMobile for a week now. Do you have the right apn settings?

I am thinking the N900A does not have the menu to change :
From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button
Go to "Settings"
Tap the "Connections" tab
Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks" > "Network mode"
Select one of the following options:
LTE / WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
WCDMA only
GSM only
You can't edit the 900A APN, but you can add an APN, then delete the old one.

I have found that if you put the T mobile SIM in, boot the phone up, let it get a data connection, then restart the phone again, it usually will pull it's correct APN settings from the carrier just fine.
i unlocked mine at cellunlocker.net and typed in the code and the tmo APN was set automatically and i have LTE, with no problems.

I reviewed my wife's N900A with T mobile sim card in it, the APN was actually set to T Mobile but some fields were different to my N900T on T Mobile. I do not remember which lines to be honest, I just copied mine on to hers. I think the field APN type on hers was just set to "default" where as mine is set to "default, mms, supl" .
I also believe her APN was not "fast.t-mobile.com" .
Her N900A seems to be picking up good LTE now, just originally when I first powered it up after unlocking the LTE icon would come and go in the home. I was thinking perhaps the N900A stock does not have all the radios available?

Yes, I still have around 1gig of data available and My plan includes data.
My service provider is INWI and they do have LTE band since The same sim card worked on my previous J5 2016 normally.
I forgot to mention that, After activating mobile data and roaming, I checked the sim status in the setting where I found that Mobile network state is DISCONNECTED and Roaming is not running.

I can confirm that I can make phone calls and send texts without a problem.
I checked all options and none worked .
As for the apn, the configuration message was sent to me by my service provider itself.
I performed a factory reset that didn't help too.
Since you can make the call, I don't think it is something wrong with the phone. I checked there's only 1 hspa band and none for lte available for note 8 from your carrier. I guess either double check with the carrier for the apn or maybe the phone just can't pick the b1 hspa signal from your location.

I won't mind HSPA since there's not much difference between LTE and HSPA in Morocco. I doubled checked with my carrier today and they told me that I have to wait for 48H for them to look into the issue.
The weird thing is when I used an app called LTE Discovery I found that I do have a signal for LTE band 3 yet I have no internet.
It is mostly the service provider's fault, I think.

First thing I'd do is research and see if it's true what your service provider told you. It might not be. Second use another sim from another network in your device. Third borrow someone else's IMWI sim and use it in the note 8. Also check APN again.
Did the phone receive 4G or LTE prior to coming to Morocco with the same device?
I also don't fully understand on your earlier post about the phone status not being roaming. It shouldn't be roaming status if using a local sim card.

I still haven't tried another INWI nor another Moroccan sim card.
I have no idea whether or not it received 4G Before coming to Morocco since I won the phone from a Dbrand's giveaway. I think it's brand new.
Shouldn't roaming be active when you activate it in menu ?
I turned on mobile data roaming and nothing happens. Check the picture for details.
I turned off my Data Roaming and the Mobile network state remained the same - connected. I'd think " Mobile network state " has anything to do with roaming being on or off unless one is roaming out of their Network onto another network.

I turn them on and off yet their status remain disconnected. I understand why.
I really don't understand how to get mobile data working on my phone.
Hopefully someone else will try and assist.
In the meantime
On the phone dialer enter *#0011# and *#2263#
Also, the mobile network state will be disconnected if you are connected to WiFi.
Should get the following screen.
Also make sure that the correct APN is entered and active / selected.
Then try and go to the connections menu and toggle lte/3g/2g... to 2 or 3 g and back to to 4g to see what happens.
Also make sure Mobile Data is turned ON.
Go-to settings then search for Mobile Data.

Thanks a lot for your efforts.
It turned out that my service provider does not support the bands on my note or something.
I tried an other provider's sim and that worked like charm.
Again thanks alooot for your efforts.

That's weird as when I checked Frequency check website with device sm-n950W and your service provider INWI , it lists it as fully compatible. The other Moroccan networks were not though.
This would be the second instant whereby Frequency check has got it wrong. First being Samsung device I used to own.

I checked the frequency myself and I came to the same conclusion.
I was only told today by an INWI agent that devices from Canada and USA always face the same issue.
I triend orange which didn't work too. Gladly, IAM worked as it is the largest and oldest network in Morocco.
From now on, I won't believe what websites say till I see for myself.
