Hi,
I bought my SGA from India. I will be in US for 2 months. When I inserted a US SIM in my phone, no network was shown.
Is it because of the difference in frequency bands of GSM in India and USA? But isn't SGA quad-band? (850/900/1800/1900)?
Can someone help me?

Indian Ace should work in USA too..
Actually, I traveled to USA with my Indian Galaxy Ace and it worked for me. I tried international roaming with my AirTel number and also tried AT&T network at USA.
have you unlocked your phone already?
if you're rooted you can use galaxy ace unlock. it's free and easily gets you the code needed for unlocking.
just search for it on the play store

I haven't unlocked my phone, but have rooted it. I don't think Indian Phones are locked.

Yes u r correct. Indian fones are not locked. Try a US based firmware or try Network Settings- Auto detect Carrier and choose mode to Auto.

Starting from today you can get it in Hungary at Telenor gms provider . And they lock all phones. So 99.99% its locked

I am thinking of free unlock methods , since its hardware is nearly exactly same as the Galaxy S2 which can be unlocked free from the market.
Why not just ROM from SIM free EU Note using Odin?
I've done it few times over the weekend to restore the phone, it should remove all the carrier crap inc SIM lock.

I don't think that works... Have you tried it if its unlocked?

My Note came unlocked so can't test to see if works on this phone. However, used the same method to unlock my pervious Vodafone HTC Sensation.

As for flashing a rom to remove carrier crap, thats just debranding, flashing a rom or kernel does not affect its network lock status, that is a completely different thing to flashing.
cellunlocker is one of the cheapes and most effective ways, and is guaranteed 100% or your money back.

I can unlock your sim, but first check if N7000 works with the frequency of your carrier.

It does not support AWS, so you will not get 3G.

Hello,
I gave my girlfriend my phone running Slim Bean 4.1.2 ROM on my captivate for her trip throughout Europe. I assumed it was unlocked and would work with any GSM carrier in Europe if she bought a SIM card and popped it in. Well, I was wrong and it didn't work and now I'm in a pickle. Can someone please give me an easy solution to unlock the phone!!!!!!! She has to be able to figure it out with me explaining it to her. I was thinking a zip file she could flash in CWM, but anything easy would be most definitely great.

GalaxSim Unlock app by Spocky from the Play Store. The ability to do the unlock isn't free but should do the job on the Rom she has on her phone now.
The other unlock app by helroz, u would have to flash back to Stock first then unlock...i think.

I bought my phone used on eBay some years ago. First, I used o2 wireless then Straight Talk. Not sure how to go about it. Her phone still doesn't work. I should mention she's has a Vodaphone and an Alditalk sim card.

She tried GalaxSIM. I had her install busybox and now her phone works. Thanks everyone!

I recently purchased a S3 mini in Bolivia. I can use it in the GSM mode to make calls and data at EDGE speeds.
However, when I switch it to WCDMA mode, I can't use the phone to make calls or for data.
Is there a way I can make my phone work here with 3G.
I know we have HSDPA+ here.

Is your phone an I8190L model? That one is the variant for south America. Maybe another version will not work on our networks.

I8190 model has problems with South American bands, happens the same with a friends device, but as soon as he goes to Brasil or Europe, 3G appears, but locally (Ecuador) only EDGE.

I have the same problem... I flashed with differents roms and nothing happens only change the version of the firmware I8190 to I8190L.....but I can't get the 3G signal but I notice something all the roms that I installed no one changed the Baseband version I8190LXXAMA2 that I have... Im looking some tutorial about the change baseband maybe thats works....
