GSM/GPRS - Vodafone UK MMS? - Motorola Droid 4

Hi guys,
I know I'm late to the party on this, but I finally got a Droid 4 for use in the UK - like you lot, I love a proper keyboard (my previous phone was a HTC Touch Pro2/Tilt, which I stuck with forever purely because of the keyboard)...
Right, I have searched the forum, so apologies if it is covered off somewhere and I've not found it...
My question is - Is there a way with the Stock Verizion Jelly Bean ROM to get Vodafone MMS working in the UK?
I added the appropriate APN settings for both Contract Internet and Vodafone MMS, including the MMSC url, and the MMS proxy IP, but still MMSs wont send. I notice there are also two 'locked' APN entries both titled 'Vodafone UK' with incorrect settings that i can't delete, and my gut feeling is that the phone is trying to use one of those to send MMSs...
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
-Jar

I couldn't get the stock app in ICS to send/receive MMS on T-Mobile in the UK, but Handcent worked - is it worth trying that? MMS now works fine for me in stock Jelly Bean on T-Mobile, and on giffgaff.

Hi Guys
Love my physical keyboards and been thinking about importing one of these to the UK from usa and using on o2. I have seen some already rooted which makes life easier but more importantly how are you finding the phone ? Apart from the MMS problem, have you found any issues/bugs etc ?/

UK o2 Active settings after upgrade

Anyone know the o2 active GPRS manual settings for the BA? I have just performed an upgrade with the o2 Asia rom and obviously now dont have the UK Auto configurator!
Well... whilst I started typing this I FINALLY got through to the o2 Data Support group (0800005005), who gave me the following settings which got me up and running!....
MY ISP
<Add a new modem connection>
Connection name:My Connection
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name:mobile.o2.co.uk
User name2web
Passwordassword
<Advanced=>Servers>
DNS:193.113.200.200
ALTDNS:193.113.200.201
MY WORK NETWORK
<Add a new modem connection>
Connection name:My Connection 1
Modem:Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name:wap.o2.co.uk
User name2wap
Passwordassword
<Set up my proxy server=>Advanced>
WAP: 193.113.200.195:8080
I dont know if this is obvious information, but I couldnt find it anywhere... so I hope it helps someone!
On a side note, whilst upgrading the ROM to a non UK variant, is there some way of avoiding these sorts of troubles?
Cheers,
Jon.
Yes mate, simply use this cab file to install the settings into the phone, therfore not having the trouble of having to type them allin manually!
Any chance of expaning further, how do I replace / install this cab!
Cheers,
Jon.
Never mind, i see this is just a standard cab... thought it was part of the extended rom files or sumthin!
Thanks for that!
Jon.
Could a mod rename this thread please?
I nearly missed it, thought it was to do with the evil useless O2 Active software, not the useful settings for gprs!
cheers mate - just what I needed after my upgarde to the i-mate ROM
O2 XDA IIs UK upgrade using ASIA ROM, will it be a problem?
Hi!
I will be using my XDA IIs O2 UK in the Philippines(ASIA), but I got it from UK. Will there be problems if I will load my UK phone with the ASIA ROM.
Thanks
Hope this is what I need .
Running XDA2i in corporate install, will this CAB put all the required info in the settings to allow GPRS, e-mail wap etc?

T-Mobile New ROM info

Hi yawll,
Just a heads up for all those who are wanting info on TMobiles plans for the Vario, I am havign emails with tech support atm who are saying there is a new update planned for the end of June that will include the extras we are seeing in the recent Qtek and Imate rom releases...
Dunno why there taking so long? I mean to release an update then pull it takes the mick, but to wait three months longer than other carriers to release an update makes me
Cheerio,
Veef13
Thx
Thx for the update though fella
I applied the i-Mate upgrade to my T-Mobile UK Vario and selected the T-Mobile UK operator option when applying the customisation.
It still didn't setup the GPRS APN stuff - which I expected it to do. Before I was using the T-Mobile shipped ROM.
Is this normal or is there something missing from the customisation?
I also tried the separate t-mobileUK.cab and that didn't set up the GPRS either.
Thanks

no worries... wish they'd pull their finger out tho!
Would any kind person be able to generate a new UK T-Mobile.cab that did configure the GPRS & MMS settings as well and perhaps add back in the defaults favorites/homepage url.
I'm sure this would get a lot of use now we have this new generic i-Mate firmware available
Thanks

Easiest way is grab hold of the Tmobile Extended Rom from the FTP and use the two connection configuration files in there, job done!
but at the same time a working cab would be spot on!
I read an interesting conspiracy theory the other day that theorised the reasons why T mobile are going to be late with an upgraded ROM.
“There are devices running on the AKU2 out there, HTC devices even. Could it be that it is not the new ROM that is causing problems, but the T-Mobile Exchange platform offering push e-mail that T-mobile has announced? With push email in the new ROM but a Exchange platform that is not ready yet, users can easily go to some other service provider to get working push e-mail their. Without the ability to use push e-mail on their SIM locked devices however, MDA Vario users have no other option but to wait for the ROM that does support push e-mail to be released by T-Mobile”
Not my words I must stress, but there's generally no smoke without fire....
Can you confim which are the connection files in the extROM is it
CAB-Customization-Connection-TMUK-Wizard-Aug08
&
CAB-Customization-WapPush-TMO-Wizard-Sep02-1
?
Thanks
hi,
you really only need the first one you highlighted... If you install the second one without the 2nd part of the wap push profile you'll get "cannot find elateservice message ever reboot" you may also want the file called CAB-Customization-TMUK-Wizard-01-04-03Oct05

MMS setup with Rogers/TyTN II

I have a baked Dutty Tytn II using on Rogers Wireless here in Toronto.
a) I have the Rogers Vision plan, so am enabled with all the high tech trans fats including MMS.
BUT I have scoured the virtual earth and beyond on setup info for MMS/Rogers and still can not get it working.... anyone?
b) I also have a sim card with TWO phone numbers, but can only ever dial out from the primary number because there is no option on the phone to switch numbers. However Rogers phones have this option built into their ROM... any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

I highly suggest you ask in Quentin's thread. No need to create a new thread. Better yet, did you check his wiki? Maybe the answer has already been posted.
Sounds like the same problem as I had on O2. You may need to try this but use the settings from a phone that your carrier supplies....
