ClockworkMod App Not Working Properly - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't seem to get everything to work in the ClockworkMod app. I am able to download new ROMs but it won't install, nothing happens when I try, and it doesn't back anything up, nothing happens after I tap it to back up. Not sure why this is happening. If I boot into recovery, I can back up fine. Any ideas?

You're on your own then, I doubt many people here use the app. You know how to flash a rom in recovery right? It's simple without the app

Looks like for some reason I loosing root access after a few seconds of my phone being booted up.

Phone is f**ked help!!!!!

Well i rebooted today and when i turned the phone back omn i kept getting android.process.acore has stopped working over and over again so i cannot use my phone.
I tried booting the phone to recovery but it just freezes on the LG logo i help down the down volume button and held the power button to do this, i installed clockworkmod using the rom manager and it worked fine then why isnt it working now wtf use is a recovery if it doesnt work when its needed.
I was using the stock rom v10d.
Ok just as i posted that i managed to get into the recovery but there isnt much i can do to fix an issue that came from absolutely no where, i tried clearing the dalvik cache and fixing permissions and then rebooted and now i dont get that process.acore force close but now there is no writing on any of my menu options at all my icons look wrong and also have no writing on them.
Well, if any attempt for recovering the phone the working state fails, you should be able to download a program called nvflash and flash original rom again Just look around here, you'll find everything you need
yeah try this here, think it fixes 99.9% of problems

I used smartflash and flashed the stock rom again. Not sure if i should root again error like this happened on my old htc dream only after root. All i wanted with root was to remove some of the crap lg apps like car home the weather thing that keeps connecting online without asking me and to install ad free to save bandwidth but noooo phone must have the equivalent of a bsod and die.
No, it wipes /data

just like few others said use nvflash. also be careful what you freeze or root uninstall. The lg crap u may think u don't need might be a hooked to the kernel or may have a dependent process.
just flash your rom again wouldve been an easier fix i guess.

[Q] Screen cannot wake up after i turned it off

Just as a posted on another thread, now my phone is running android1.1, after i turned the screen off, i can no longer wake it up by pressing any button or sliding keyboard, but the keyboard light can be lighted...
What do you mean by "turned the screen off" turned the phone like completely off or just put it to sleep? If you flashed, then check to see if your radio/spl matches up to the roms requirements. If not, then thats the reason. If you just put it to sleep, try factory resetting your phone via holding power+home to get into recovery, then alt+w

It could be the rom youre using. Try updating to the latest radio/spl and downloading frosense or any of the cm7 roms. I dont think its the lcd. If it turns on at all, then the lcd's not the problem. Thats what im thinking because i dropped my phone in water before, the lcd was damaged. SCreen wouldnt even turn on, but i could hear everything. So yea. .

Well, the problem is updating recovery, i have tried many times, but after i flashed the recovery using fastboot or flash_image, the recovery mode cannot be displayed normally, only the last line" Build: 1.7.XX" can be seen, there's no items above. So i've no idea how to flash roms. Can i flash roms in the fastboot mode?
Are you rooted? If you are, then i have a solution for you.
Assuming you have root- Download ROM manager from the android market (the free version) and open it. It'll ask for superuser permissions. Click allow. then click flash clockworkmod recovery. Then itll give you a list of htc dream or magic. Click the dream and let it download. After it finishes, itll say "clockworkmod download complete" or something like that. Then theres another option on the app that says "reboot into recovery" click that, and flash the recovery you want. I recommend that you just use cwm recovery as i am using it on my g1. .
If you dont have root, then.... I have no idea. Sorry. And no you cant flash via fastboot.

my phone is rooted, but the Rom manager have to be force closed once i run it, i have tried different versions of Rom manager and different roms.
I have flashed clockworkmod recovery 2.5.0.7 via fastboot, but it didnt show anything when i enter recovery then.
Now I dont think i can flash Roms via recovery, so i prepare to do so via fastboot, i'm learning how to make *.zip packages for fastboot, its different from packages for recovery as i learned.

easy fastboot is just that; an easy way to use fastboot for the novice. also try droid explorer, a very simple to use program that may help you download what you need. both are free and easy to find links to - just google search or search these forums.

3.41 bootloader info from google support

Well I decided to call Google about the boot loader recovery not working as it should. I was hoping this call would help them to work on another update but they say that's the way its supposed to work. Here's the email Instructions:
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold both volume keys and the power button to enter
Bootloader mode
3. Press the volume keys to cycle to the Recovery mode option
4. Press the power button to select Recovery mode
5. From the Recovery mode screen, press and hold the Power button then
press the Volume up button.
6. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
8. The factory data reset process will now start. Once its finished,
select 'Reboot system now.'
The only option we have in the new recovery is to wipe data. Maybe for those having problems accessing twrp or cwm will be able to a access it with step 5. I don't know haven't rooted yet. So I decided to ask about nvflash and they said they're not going to release any nvflash tools or files.
um, yup. thats how stock bootloader and stock recovery work. lol
whats the issue? if your not even rooted, you wouldn't even know if you have an issue or not with the new bootloader.
Are you saying that you can't flash a different recovery? Or that when you do you still get the same stock recovery? I'm not quite sure what the issue is here, because that is exactly how the stock bootloader, and recovery are supposed to work.
Are you making sure to unlock fastboot before trying to flash recovery. I don't recall seeing or hearing anyone say anything about not being able to get to clockwork mod once its installed.

No. I saw people posting they couldn't get go cwm and could only see the red exclamation point. And I was just saying maybe after choosing recovery then holding volume up and power it would then go to cWm or twrp. I was hoping for someone to try it who is still on 3.41 Recovery. A lot of people downgraded back to 3.39 or whatever version it was

I can confirm that to get in to the stock recovery you hold down 'power' and then tap 'vol up'.
At present I am running the latest CWM touch recovery. This boots straight into it from the bootloader without any extra button presses.
My personal preference to go into CWM is from either QuickBoot or ROM Manager.

When I first flashed TWRP onto my Nexus 7 after that official 4.1.2 OTA update, I wasn't able to boot into it. I then flashed it again via fastboot, and then booted the TWRP image that was on my computer, and then TWRP loaded.
I believe TWRP does work normally now as well (I can boot into it and reboot into it).

Well if I was you I'd just use mskips toolkit, its absolutely epic it'll save you a lot of farting around. I take it that your fully updated? ( Not that it matters) You seem to know and understand your way around adb so just go for it and enjoy.
Its works smooth as silk and save you a lot off time. The options available to you are just staggering!

going to recovery from bootloader works fine after 3.41.....wat r u talkin abt? (i m stock rooted+twrp)
oh yea...u hav 2 remove that recovery stock.p file thingy first.
There are plenty of people that are having issues with recovery on 3.41 bootloader.... Its confirmed some have it some don't.
The issue is that with 3.41 bootloader on some Nexus 7 Devices a custom recovery is unbootable no matter how you try, every time it will try to load recovery and fail at a black screen then reboot into the OS. It does not matter how you try from ADB reboot to recovery or from bootloader with USB attached or not.

In your system folder there's a file called 'recovery-from-boot.p'
Go into a file manager with w/r access and rename it ' recovery-from-boot.p.bak'
When the system boots it reads that file and resets the recovery to stock, by changing the name you remove the problem.

Thanks for responding. Sometimes I can get it into the screen with the download option with the yellow triangle sign at the bottom, but pressing the volume up or down buttons have no effect. I do not seem to be able to get into download mode. I did find that you can access both sd cards through the computer, if USB is connected. Right now, it says it's in safe mode, but it's still in that loop saying that "setup wizard has stopped." I also see an error saying different apps have not loaded properly.

Were you able to boot in to recovery easily before? Pull battery, put it back and hold volume up + power until Samsung logo comes up, count to two and let go of the power button only. I can do it every time that way.
For download mode:
Try taking out your battery for a minute and when you put it back in press volume down + power. If you are still unable to get into Odin then this method isn't going to work.
Did you flash the right Gapps for the ROM you were trying to install? Just trying to figure out where you went wrong.

TWRP finally booted and I reloaded a nandroid from before i tried AOIP. It seems alive again. There phones really are indestructible. Should I load new roms from the internal sd? Would that be a better idea? Right now, they're all on the external, but I can put the one I want to install on the internal before I begin. Would that maybe make things go more smoothly? Thanks.

[Q] Verizon LG G2 Flashed TWRP using flashify, can't get into recovery?

Hi All-
I spent several hours trying to get ADB to work on my Verizon LG G2, nothing worked (device not connected error). So I flashed the latest TWRP for the Verizon LG G2 from the Android Development section using Flashify. I can get into recovery using an app, but I can't manually get into recovery using the rear buttons. I power off, hold the power and volume down buttons..then when LG comes up I hold them again and the phone just reboots. I have tried this a thousand ways, and I can't manually get into recovery (which scares me). It seems everyone else is able to do this, maybe do I need to reflash recovery using the ADB method if I can get it to work? I can get into it now through the OS and make backups, I am just worried I will flash a rom and NOT be able to do that. Any ideas what I can do to manually get in?
Thanks-
Sean
I'm on my phone now but had the same problem.
Flashify was the culprit.
Change computers and find the thread asking for a video of how to install TWRP. I followed the instructions and it worked.

Try holding volume down + power
Immediately when LG appears let go of both and ONLY hold onto power, should boot into option to factory reset
Hit power button 3 times to continue, then itll load twrp
let me know if this works.

Was stuck in boot loop could not get into recovery.
I was having a similar issue - tried to flash TWRP using flashify and got to a point where I could load into my ROM fine, but nothing I tried would get me into recovery mode - the phone would just show a couple lines of text and then a black screen. Fortunately I still had adb access and used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 (along with youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZSjL6FCyxA).
Using this stuff I was finally able to flash TWRP 2.6.3.1, and from there I had a stable recovery to work with. 2.6.3.2 and 2.6.3.3 did not work for me when trying to flash with Loki, but 2.6.3.1 did. Not sure what the deal was there, but I was probably doing something dumb.

It does not erase, it takes you to recovery

Thanks! I ended up downloading FreeGee from the Play store & flashing TWRP the way. Worked and booted into recovery. Still seems weird to me that flashify would make you go to the permanent reset function and say yes.
That's how it works with a locked boatloader. Pretty common.
Thank you

I thought i sh*t bricked my phone and pants. FreeGee soothed my soul.
Flashify
I tried Flashify and it didn't work...It didn't flash the recovery img i selected that was placed on the sdcard. I saw a post about FreeGee on the first couple of pages of this thread and gave it a try. I was very happy that it worked on the first try...
Freegee worked great for me also. Flashify did not.
