Different OS's

Hey guys
I just want to know....what are all the OS's that can be ported on the nexus one (every different android maker os is a different os.)
I just want to know and if you could.....please put the link if available.
Thanks

Check out the Development section, count the sub-versions of each ROM found there, and you'll get to several hundreds of them.
Or just consider it one big OS called Android, in its variations. That will also be closer to the truth.
Personally, I run Windows 7 on my Nexus one.
Oh, you were serious?
Bro, every "flavor" of Android is still Android. One Operating system, different versions or "builds" or whatever they're called.

Then what are the different builds that can be ported and actually work.
The only ones I see are sense, CyanogenMod or MIUI....that's it?
What are others...

those are the mains ones right now, and of course dont forget to include stock but rooted ROM, like modaco ROM. then there are many variations of cyanogen broken off and customized to make their own ROM.
last year there were many more ROMs, so it has died down a little. but generally its still very strong ROM community for the n1.
no other OS's work except android OS and all its flavors.

Why you are searching another SO
NexusOne is not a PC desktop (you can installa windows or linux) it's a smartphone.
Android is the best one SO that you can have.

I was thinking about this too. Where does one learn? As in, what are some good books to buy on the subject? Thanks in advance.

Depends entirely on what your experience is. There's a big difference between learning to cook having never cooked a thing in your life, and learning to cook French cuisine if you're already a master sushi chef.
I'll play it safe and say I've never cooked a thing in my life, but my dad is also a system engineer and could help if I needed it. I'd rather learn without his help.

Start with an RUU. Run the RUU on your PC. Stop at the first screen after it's done loading, don't proceed, but don't close the window. Start/Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter (this will take you to your user temp folder). Sort the folders by date and open the newest. Here you should find Rom.zip. Use this as your base ROM in the kitchen. Root it, deodex it (or not), zipalign it, etc - and you end up with a flashable ROM from an RUU

As far as I know, it's not available yet. The devs are stil trying to get AOSP running bug free with everything working from what I have read. I'm sure someone will pick it up once AOSP is fixed though and dev MIUI. Most of the devices tend to have at least one dev/team working on MIUI from what I have noticed.

This would be awesome :good:
I could try and Port MIUI with a Sense base, and to keep the HTC Camera app and gallery, this thing was done before on my former HTC Sensation XL, but things can get ugly anyway.
Would be great, so we can keep the features of the camera and zoe !? Looking forward to see miui beauty on a htc one

No Problem. Pay for the try. If it boots up and works there will be more any news?

I have been looking almost every day and it seems they're even slower than Cyanogen who only has experimental/nightly builds still while others have full-blown ROMs and Cyanogen even has this phone.
Would love to see MIUI/Cyanogen come to this device quickly. That being said, I don't think anyone on here can answer this question, OP, as it's concerning another developer. If anyone has any information or would be porting, please post here.

I think this ROM from tmartin is similar to MIUI. At least the theme manager is based on MIUI.
Checked it out, but not as good as Cyanogen and not really remotely like MIUI. Thanks though!

Not really, it has to be ported as the official MIUI isn't for any 1080p phones yet, so developers don't have any base to port over to our phones yet. It should come in time, though, as the real MIUI devs have to keep their ROM relevant.

For me, it is because I can't run any CM based rom without the Sleep of Death... So it is sort of like this, either I sell my phone and buy another just as good and perfect as my HTC One that can run MIUI CM or non CM based. OR I use a Sense based MIUI which I'm literally dying for.

Do you know how far away a release of any kind of sense or ge based MIUI for our HTC Ones is?
I'm going to be going s-off and super cid tonight and will update my firmware and re-try Ady's miui but If I still hit sleep of death I'll be waiting out for a sense based or ge based MIUI for my one. I'd just like to know how long I'll have to hold out for. because I may be deciding to sell mY HTC one just to purchase a good phone which is supported. (rofl)
