Hi there,
just tried to install a new custom rom and then my Htc stopped working. (Screen is on but i can't do a hard reset)
Everytime I try to do a Hard reset the two icons at the bottom start to blink but nothing happens.
Do I have to wait for the battery to die?
Please help!

Shine a bright light at the phone and hold down the power button, or plug into your PC and use
Code:
adb reboot

The bright light thing did the trick, unbelievable why the censors are completely unresponsive
Yeah it's a feature to stop you resetting in you pocket. But I have had issues with it as well.

It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up

Need urgen help please.
Pull battery for 15min and try again. If nothing happened go to service. Or try install the ruu for your country.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried hard reset after taking out the battery without any luck. I can not install the RUU as the phone is dead, black screen. Battery was fully charged. I did a bad flash by accident via rom manager.
Anyone out there with similar problem and found the solution, I do not need another expensive door stopper.

If you can go to bootloader or make factory reset (vol down + vol up + power) and something showing on the screen you can install ruu.
If you can charge the battery (led is shining) its mean you need only j-tag :d
If nothing with this. Its mean your memory is dead.
I had this issues on my friend phone. But there was no led and no vibration. Realy dead

The screen is black. So hard reset does not work. Total dead, the screen does not light. When you do factory reset, the phone make 5 or 7 beeps like when phone is vibrating, then it is dead, no response. I think I need to have J-Tag.
Hey everyone, i have kind of a big problem. Yesterday i rooted my phone. Fot S-off and everything not problem. Flashed Slim Bean rom and i was a happy camper. Went to work and phone was working fine. Hours later, i tried to unlock my phone by pressing the power button and nothing happened. i tried holding the power button to make the phone shutdown and the keys lit up and kept on blinking but nothing happened. I tried calling the phone and from another line and although on the other phone it sounds like its one, my one wont ring or anything. I got home and tried to fastboot reboot but the damn thing is not on debugging mode apparently, so it just says waiting for device. I need HELP ASAP!!!!!! Thanks in advanced!
If the buttons blink, keep holding the power button until they stop blinking (this will take over 10 seconds!). That will force a hard reboot.

Hold the phone directly over a bright light and try to reboot. I can't explain why this procedure works but it did for me and several others. Just make sure the light is shining on the two sensors on the top left corner of the phone.

The phone uses the light sensor to make sure the phone isn't in your pocket or some other place and isn't getting reset by accident.

Be very careful flashing AOSP based roms. There have been several users reporting "bricks" while using these roms. Both a solution and a cause are unclear.

Dude, thank you so much for that, it solved my issue! I don't know why I didn't think of it!!
If the buttons are flashing, I would consider that a response.
Just saying.

Hi world.
Today i do a little error...i was in the recovery mode for flash a zip and finish in sideload...I have a black screen with: Sideload started..now send the packge you want to apply to the device with "adb sideload <filename>.
So i try to power off my HTC One with the botton, with tool kit all in one but nothing.
I also try to put command like adb reboot ecc ecc from the cmd and try the 4 option of the FAQ.
But my HTC One is blocked...Is there a metod to power off the device? I should wait the natural power off of battery but i think there is not so good for the device(it was over 90% battery).
Thank you for the attention guys
p.s. i don't able to use adb sideload, i read something but i don't able to learn

When i try toghter (power and a vol down or up) the two soft touch(menu and back) will go to on and off with the lights...
Other solutions/combinations with the buttons?
Hold vol down and power together keep holding for 15 seconds... Or try just power button..but if not let device run out of battery

did you put it under a bright light and hold the power for 15 seconds ?
the bright light trips the sensor so the phone doesn't think its in your pocket
Press and hold the menu button at the same time, but at the same time you are doing that shine a light over the proximity/ambient sensors.
I know it sounds weird but aroma use to freeze up on me and when it did someone mentioned to do exactly this to get the phone to reboot/turn off.
It works for me every time. Nothing will happen until I shine a light at the sensors.

I used it for about an hour, and then when i was trying to move the gallery shortcut to the home screen, the phone suddenly froze and the phone switched off, i kept holding the power button but it wouldn't switch on and I tried plugging it back but the LED light didn't turn on. i also tried to do a hard rest, booting to fastboot mode but non of that worked.
