Find a stock Voda 434 ftf and flash it, if you can't find one then you're stuck with it, or flash an unbranded and never wait for ota updates again.

REQ: Vodafone UK firmware

Hi,
Wondered if someone could be so kind to please upload a Vodafone UK ftf file for either .350 or preferably .434? Been trying to downgrade rooted .253 back to .434 and ended up in boot loop when updating NFC.
Previously took a ftf backup of .434 but boot loops each time when using Flashtool.
Got phone working again by using SUS, and now on on .253 without root. Wish to root again.
I know I could use an unbranded ftf file but prefer to keep Vodafone branding.
Cheers
I want that 2

To stop that bootloop you HAVE to wipe data when downgrading with flashtool.

Hi, about xperia tx ota

I got unlocked my bootloader and used custom kernels until i got the .67 update from hongkong, unfortunately my phone keeps detecting new update for 9.1.b.1.67 not only in pc companion but also in my notification bar.
My question now is, shall i accept the update? Thank you

Simple, no
Don't accept any OTA firmware if you unlocked bootloader
You can update firmware via flashtool by downloading stock FTF firmware

Very good advice. Don't do OTA
If there is no ftf posted you can make one
Use PCCompanion and use the "repair" option. It will download the necessary files to flash your phone but will fail to flash because if your unlocked bootloader.
Then use flashtool to make the ftf from the downloaded files which ou can then flash in flashtool
the instructions on how to do this are in the all in one thread

Downgraded now my IMEI has gone missing? Z1

Had a problem with recovery going missing when i updated to 4.3, decided to downgrade back to 4.2 rom 534 and after the downgrade my IMEI reads a series of 0's obviously can't make any phone calls and have no signal at all.
Have tried to get the EE branded ftf but it wouldn't download, I didn't want to get another branded one so i went with an unlocked one, still can't get the EE ftf so can't revert back to my official branded rom, still haven't got recovery and by using an ftf i've lost root, so i'm kind of back to square one but with no imei lol, ahhh if i didn't laugh i'd cry.
Any ideas how to get it back up and running?
Cheers.
This may help i havent tried it myself as thats one of the few problems that my crappy Z1 haven't got .

Only just got home but i've sorted it now, basically i wasn't able to get the EE branded ftf from XDA as the link was down so i got the tmobile one as it's pretty much the closest one there is in the list.
Flashed that with flash tool and it came back, obviously lost root, so i've re rooted and now i'm upgrading all over again.
Will be staying on 4.2 until i've got a whole day to mess about with things, 4.3 isn't for me yet, at least until root is 100%
Cheers for the help all the same.
Problems occur if 4.3 is flashed using flashtool.
I solved it by reinstalling the software using SUS then flashing 4.2

Just grab the closest rom you initially started with and flash with flashtool, that's pretty much all i did.
Then root.
Install clock work mod or TWRP.
Then flash a rom from the development section like monx.

Just get recover flash IMEI if the stock 290. And this version has no root, there is the problem.
I tried to flash the rom Monx but still all the same.

I assume you didn't understand what I mean, while using android 4.3, flash for the previous firmware 257 (the unrootable android 4.2) and then flash 534 (the rootable android 4.2) then root and OTA to 257 again, then from 257, if you get OTA to 4.3 then go for it, if you don't have OTA to 4.3, you'll have to wait.

Just one leap back to the earliest rom is all thats needed to get your imei back, obviously not the easiest way but probably the safest.

If you flash from 290 to 534 you will loose IMEI and service provider signal, if you flash back 290 you will get them back. so to prevent loosing IMEI and service provider signal, flash 257 then 534.

Jeez i'll say again.
I downloaded the T-mobile FTF file as it was the closest to my EE phone when i got it, i was on 290 and without my IMEI, i flashed the FTF file via flashtool which is a 534FTF and my IMEI come back as soon as the phone came on, i was able to root and upgrade to monx's rom.
So what you're saying is untrue, if you pick the wrong FTF file then that may cause the IMEI to be lost again or not come back at all, but if you pick the one as i said before which corresponds with your phones original network or the closest thing to it then the imei will come back I know this as I did this a few days ago, i'm not going to argue about this and i'm not going to respond to anything else on this matter.
If theres another way to do it then fair enough, all I know is that doing it this way worked.
The imei gets lost if you wipe data when you are on 290 and flash 534 using flashtool

[Q] Running rooted 14.1.G.2.257 locked BL, should I wait for OTA?

Hi,
I am running stock 14.1.G.2.257 which I got via OTA. Prior to doing the OTA update, I rooted my device, and the root was kept through the OTA.
I want the newest version (14.2.A.0.290), and I know the customization code for my device and have the correct FTF file downloaded to my pc already.
However, I am afraid that if I flash via flashtool I will lose root. That will happen, right? (The FTF I have is completely stock, not rooted)
I tried checking in the updates app, and I don't see an OTA update yet for .290. Should I just wait patiently, or is there a reason the OTA just won't show up for my phone? Anything I can check to determine OTA is still working?
Thanks for your help.
If you flash the ftf via flashtool you will loose root.
You should wait for the OTA update or till they find a way to root it in locked bootloader.
Thank you, that helps. So if I want patiently I should see OTA eventually right?

can anyone downgrade to 534 voda UK, root then upgrade to 290 through OTA to preserve root?
or do you need to have Vodaphone uk xperia z1?
Am on EE UK and still not OTA but would be tempted to do this if it works and then remove the voda bloatware
edit: doesnt matter. seen the answer in another thread

I think you can try flashing the Vodafone ftf without wiping data, then update via OTA, but the root is partial.

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you will not be able to update using PC Companion. I didnt know all this **** were involved in Sony phones.
I had unlocked my bootloader a couple of days back, didnt know I had to backup my DRM keys and ended up losing my warranty. Now I cant even update my phone using the official updating method.
BTW... the recovery is bundled with the kernel, thats why people refer to it as flashing a kernel instead of recovery. I didnt know this until 2 days back.
Thanks

If I am on a Locked Bootloader and on a rooted custom ROM, will Sony PC Companion detect my phone when the next update comes??
This is stupid. If you are in 4.3 (.290) with un-locked boot loader you cant update via PC companion or SUS.
I ended up going to 534 (4.2) via flashtool. Root it, restore TA backup and then use SUS to update. And flashing the latest 4.3 via Flashtool din work.
No PC Companion or SUS won't detect your phone.. You've to manually flash a valid ftf from Flashtool.. Then you can connect & update your phone through PC Companion or SUS..
