yes we didn't.
The IS was launched just one month before the Desire S, it did not get Sense 3.0 and has been abandoned by HTC because of which this is probably my last HTC phone.
such a shame as we dont thinki we will get ics anymore too

Not sure I get your gripe, the phone is over a year old. It's time for you to take responsibility and flash it.
Let's forget about ICS for a while. According to our sources we have a sense 3.0 rom with 2.3.5. coming in December. I would be happy to grab that. I have a feeling that we are not gonna get an official ICS rom at all.
Don't want to flash. Been there, done that with my hd2 million times, there were always glitches and stupid bugs. Don't want to waste my time, warranty on custom roms on incS. Does a perfect bugfree out of the box like sense 3.0 rom exist for our device? Love the sense ui, so not big fan of cm.

Sense made my phone laggy and have terriable battery life. Why would I want that.
Cm7 is more like an iPhone. Battery is better although not quite as good as my friends iPhone 3gs that has 80% battery left at the end of the day on ios 5.
I agree. Why bother with official ROM's when year has passed - no warranty anyway. I get 5 days of battery life with CM7.

Sense is only good if you like getting loads of updates from Facebook.
we should be getting ICS update for sure ans some phones listed out by HTC are older versions than ours..also tried the ICS rom by galinet miui but somehow it does not go past the bootup screen..
Using cm nightlies and I don't see what the big deal is about ics... I'm not sure what else I want my phone to do that it doesn't do already. I can phone and text, send picture messages, browse the web, use torrent, watch movies, connect to a printer, feed other devices using the portable hotspot, play snes, nintendo, n64, sega, gameboy, game gear, take photos, record video in hd, use gps and navigation install any app I want and control my bell pvr while I'm taking a crap. What else is it I need?

that's one way of looking at it but i think you are missing the point. from what i've read, ics is supposed to enhance the android experience. in other words, add more polish and improve the look and the feel of the operating system. what you are referring to is hardware capabilities and app functionalities.
if I can have the same functionalities in a more polished package, I would at least want to give it a go.

that's a known bug with the new release. there's a workaround for that: you have to flash the weekly (non-ics) version first, let it boot up, reboot into recovery then flash the ics version on top. or you can just flash the previous release (v1.11.9). it's been flawless for me.
I'm curious...what is everyone's ICS distro of choice for the Nexus One?
i.e. BCM / TexasIce / MIUI
No bashing allowed...only critical conversation please!
I'm using BCM as I like to have the Cyanogenmod features.
+1 for BCM9
BCM is running pretty smooth and with good features.

Damn.
That's a lot for BCM.
I'm currently running TexasIce. No problems. Smooth as silk.
What does BCM have over TexasIce? Have they fixed the video camera FC?
CyanogenMod 9 I don't care about the video camera, rarely use(d) it.

Gotcha.
So what does BCM have over TexasIce? I'm in no way trying to poke holes in anybody's preferrence. If anything, I'm looking for a reason to flash BCM here. Is BCM basically just TexasIce with the CM9 toolbox? Is one any more "AOSP"-ish than the other?
As I said, BCM has CyanogenMod 9 over TexasICS. I got really used to CM7, and CM9 is no different (some functionality is still missing though). I tried TexasICS a few times, but I feel like BCM fits my needs more than TexasICS. I don't have anything against TexasICS, and I don't think people should see these 2 ROMs as opponents.

I got you bro, but my question is still pretty unanswered.
To begin with, I'll say that I LOVE the CM team and all their work. The CM ROMs are minimalist, yet customizable, ultimately providing an android experience that's unadulterated by even the slightest carrier modifications. Plus it's tailored for the power user.
I know this, but that's not quite what I'm looking for in the answer.
I'm simply wondering, besides being associated with the cyanogenmod team, is BCM more stable/closer to being a complete, bugless AOSP distribution of ICS than TexasIce?
I gather that they have not fixed the video camera FC- something that's not a big deal to me.
For example, this is the list taken directly from the TexasIce thread of things that are NOT working:
Gapps might not work properly (search the thread for fixes before posting issues)
USB: MTP / PTP / Tethering
wifi ad-hoc (might work)
Builtin alarm clock app doesn't work 100% of the time.

*Anything in blue doesn't really bother me...and the gapps issue is an old wive's tale
I'm curious about whether the stock alarm clock app is buggy in BCM as well, though.
While it's not on the list, an FC when hitting 'record' in the stock video camera app is the only other major issue. Apparently this is due to having to fix something with the stagefright video encoder
What I'm wondering is- Has BCM fixed ANY of these things as of right now? Or are both ROMs on the 'same page'?
The Gapps that I installed with BCM are all working 100%. Never had any FC or freeze. The USB issues I wouldn't know because I never use it for anything other than ADB/Fastboot. Wifi idem dito. Alarm clock is working 100% for me, never missed any early class. I don't believe I've read anything about the alarm clock not working in the BCM thread
Also, I believe BCM doesn't have the Screen of Death which some TexasICS users are experiencing. But it's the same with every ROM: it can work perfectly on one Nexus One, while it sucks on the other.

Awesome bro that's what I'm looking for.
Ultimately, I've got no real allegiance to one brand or the other. As I said, I love the CM team and what they do. I'm all about results though, and if they're a bit behind TexasIce than I'm not interested.
By the sound of it, though, this isn't the case. I appreciate your input man.
Just flashed TexasIce ICS yesterday, but it looks like I might be flashing BCM today.
Thanks again for the info bro.
Just wait a few hours and somebody else would recommend TexasICS
Please let us know what you think after you've installed BCM!

Yeah, likewise, I haven't tried TexasIce, but the known problems listed as being present in TexasIce (aside from video recording), are non-issue in BCM.
One thing I did discover though - if you take TexasIce's latest Kernel (he posted it in a thread) and put that in BCM, BCM becomes just as fast (or faster) than Cyanogen Mod 7! No hindrance on battery life either. I was in shock - a full speed / slick / stable ICS on Nexus One...now if the video recording / camera scanning features were enabled, this would be 100% fully operational.
I have used both.
Both are equally good and stable but I was on Bcm at the end for a while before I switched to sensation xe.
I preferred bcm due to no SoD issues(drewis kernel solved it later on also) , ease of install and configuration also I was having 3-5 random restarts on tesaxice but seldomly had on bcm, once a week if any.

Really quickly, I know BCM is ported from the HTC Desire/Bravo CM9. Now, I know the Desire and the N1 are almost identical, the only differences being the N1's trackball and capacitive buttons (as far as I know).
So, question: Does the N1 port of the Desire's CM9 distribution have all the N1's hardware working correctly? Trackball wake and notifications? Any/everything else?
Ultimately, even though it's a port, is BCM being developed with the N1 in mind?
Thanks for the info fellas.
+1 BCM with Drew Kernel

Hello!
I've flashed many a ROM to my old HTC DHD, but have recently upgraded to the Samsung SG3 LTE (i9305). I've yet to root, but was wondering if anyone has deveoped a Stock jelly bean rom for this device yet? By stock, I don't mean stock Samsung/Touchwiz, I mean stock, unbranded Jelly bean, the pure google experience like you would find on the Nexus 4.
I've searched and have yet to find anything. I don't post much but follow the forums and flash a lot, so go easy on me!
Any help or a nod in the right direction would be great.
Thanks
Tweedskin
Yeah... you're out of luck; in short, there are no such ROMs.
Codeworkx recently made a Cyanogenmod tree, but right now the RIL isn't working, so you can't actually use your phone as a phone. Unfortunately, Codeworkx doesn't actually own an I9305, and has no desire to deal with Samsung's less-than-supportive approach to development. There was also an earlier build made by LarryTheCow that had a working RIL, but no microphone support and no GPS. Amplified is still working on a port, but, as far as I'm aware, hasn't got very far.
There are very few developers in possession of this phone, and fewer still who are able and willing to work on such a port. I wouldn't hold your breath on this, and honestly, if you really want an AOSP ROM, then you should probably just sell your I9305. If you just want something that looks broadly similar to stock, there are a few ROMs in the development section that include a JB Domination theme, the stock launcher and a few other stock apps, which gets fairly close. You can also use Swipe Dialler and Sliding Messaging to get something broadly resembling the stock dialler and messaging apps. But it's definitely a shame that a phone with excellent hardware lacks developers to support it.
As of this morning there wasn't but about an hour ago it appears it has been updated and re uploaded with the sim card and connection working.

Yes, I thought that was probably the case!
Thanks for the reply and info....think I'm gonna hold out for another view weeks, then sell it and get a Nexus 4 if nothing is around. I use a Nexus 7 and switching between that and the S3 is akin to switching between Windows 8 and windows 7.
Nexus 4 it is! Cheers!

It was the case then, now the only significant bug with the CM10 ROM is that bluetooth headsets have very poor audio quality. Everything else is working.
Hi, I just crossed back to Android and am excited to be back but am a little peeved with HTC's Sense overlay. I had the Nexus S a couple of years back (and loved it!) before using iOS and now I just upgraded to the One hoping to have the same experience with my Nexus.
My question is...and I'm hoping its in the right forum...is it possible to root the HTC One and have stock vanilla Android on it? Honestly, I kind of feel that HTC Sense ruins a really a beautifully made phone. It does add a lot of unnecessary functions and tries to link everything and everyone which makes it absolutely confusing.
Also...how obnoxious is that bootup with the Sprint splash screen? Ugh. Brings the premium down a couple of notches.
You can root the one easily using HTC's unlock method. I believe there's a toolkit in the development section. No vanilla android just yet. Although sense isn't really as bad as what it used to be. (But again, I primarily use my phone for social networking.)
Sent from My Only "One"
The cm team had a build but it's very Alpha, that's is the only A.O.S.P. Rom at the moment. Once that's all peachy I'm sure you will see others pop up.
As far as the boot up sound, after you root, most of the available rooms have disable it.
Sent from my HTCONE
When my One is on vibrate I never here the boot up sound.
Also, could the 4.2.2 keyboard be ported over? I've already been replacing HTC apps with stock apps (gallery, clock, etc).

If you want to keep up with the development of CM 10.1 which is very close to vanilla android, heres the link:

So far they've got most things working except for the camera, IR blaster, Bluetooh and using headphones while you're in a call. Give it a couple of weeks though and we'll have a very stable version available. I'm not a fan of sense at all, so I'm excited to flash over to CM 10.1.

Download some different launchers from the Play store and try them out. You don't even need to root a device to change launchers. Simply download, install and open.

I'd be curious to see if there is some portion of the hardware that works only with the Sense framework.
It would be awesome if a custom ROM can push the camera beyond the stock experience. Does the HTC 'ImageChip' work with custom ROMs like CM?
I'm managing my wife's phone for her (and often looking at it longingly). I was an HTC Evo 3d user before it took a dump a few months ago and at that point I went over to the dark side (Samsung). Happy to be staying in the HTC loop vicariously through my wife's phone.
She's s-off and on a sense rom right now but I'd like to get her on cm11. Unfortunately, texts do not work for her using the official release. Anyone else on cm11? Anyone else experiencing this issue w/cm11?
Either way, I figured it would be useful to have a thread to discuss cm for the m8.
Thanks!
Hmmm. I haven't seen any bugs with texts. I'm on stock right now so I couldn't tell you for sure. Does she have any data at all? Can she make calls?
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
Yep calls and data are good.
Hmmm. The only thing I can really think of is that it was either a bad download or a bad flash.
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
Could be, I'll have to give it another shot when I can get my hands on her phone. Thanks!
SMS is working for me on the latest nightly. CM runs so well on this phone!
Does anyone else use cm for this phone? Also, why is there so little "original development" for the m8? Isn't this where the aosp Roms would be? Am I missing something?
I put the latest stable release of cm on my wife's phone. Very jealousâș
Check the regular HTC M8 forums. Many of the AOSP roms are available for all variants.
