In the forums i found a lot of people talking about wakelock dealing with RILJ and im pretty sure this should work for you.
Here's how you turn Background Location Reporting off.
1. Go to System Settings
2. Under accounts, select Google/Maps and Latitude
3. Maps will fire up and it should show the Location Settings screen.
4. On the top tap Location Reporting and select Do not update your location.
Now go check betterbatterystats after a few hours you should it go down.
Hadn't read this anywhere else, thanks!

If you don't have maps installed go to settings - locations - turn off locations. If you use google now, weather widgets or apps that require network location dont not attempt this.
I have noticed i have a major drain from partial wakelocks but believe it or not rilj is not my culprit,

Your not turning your data off your just turning off data when the app is closed. turning off locations is just limting certain apps
Not to function properly. not to argue and say it doesnt help i just dont see this as an fix for wakelock.

You go into maps and disable the location for maps.

If you have maps installed. It has nothing to do with a app preventing your phone to sleep.

Okay... the past day or so, my GPS icon in my status bar has been constantly flashing (unless I turn off GPS).
Anyone idea of what causes this?

You have navigation running.
No... I don't

Yeah, you do. At least when you took that shot. Pull down the notification bar and click then kill the arrow. You have to exit navigation and not just hit the home button.
Man I bet you are getting horrendous battery life right now.

OMG... Really? That's the phone from all the N1 advertisements, I am just using it to the the icon I am talking about. ROFL
we need to know what apps you have running, i've had that issue before with Beautiful Widgets when i had wifi based location turned off and i was in a basement so the GPS couldn't lock on a signal
Lol awesome. My bad!
I have noticed that happening a few times and it has always been a stuck program. Obviously you can narrow it down to an app that uses GPS and go through each one and start them and then finish them to srr of that helps. Or just turn off GPS and turn it back on.

Do you have Beautiful Widgets? I know that it sometimes goes goofy and keeps the GPS on. Not with the latest release tho.
Yeah... I do have Beautiful Widgets, maybe that's my problem. Will check it out.
Thanks

Forgive me for piggybacking on this discussion, but I have a related question. Is it possible for apps to be using GPS (and thus sucking battery) WITHOUT the icon's appearing in the notification bar?

if GPS is turned off then it will try to determine your location using your data signal.

no its not possible. if any app uses the gps, that icon will appear. it is also possible that the phone will jsut pull your location based on cell tower approximation, which would not use gps, and hence not use as much battery anyway...

the official facebook app is un-reliable for me
sometimes i get them, usually not.
i also have facebook set to SMS notifacations to be safe. they have been un-reliable too since i got the android.
sometimes ill get the same message from the app and sms or just one... or neither....
only notifications i've ever gotten have been messages and event invites. responses to status updates never give me notifications.
well went to the settings today in the FB app and checked notifications active and i never turned on refresh interval due to battery consumption but now i get my comments/chat/message all pushed to my phone...well its working for me but hope it works for you guys too!

I understand it wastes battery, but my problem isn't related to that because it's ON since day one and i only experienced this drain 2 days ago..
Just reseted the phone and installed apps again it fixes the problem!
Your top three wakelocks are all WiFi related - svnet, wlan_rx_wake and wlan_wake.
Your fourth is sec-battery-monitor - some kind of battery monitor/saver app?
There were lots of cases of people reporting battery app savers/monitors/whatever actually causing notable battery drains, particularly if users don't set their sync policy right.
Let me give you an example: let's say you use some battery saver, and set it to disconnect WiFi when screen locks. Let's also say that you have some app configured to sync at all times. The app tries to connect, but can't, because the battery saver won't allow WiFi connection to be established, so the app tries to sync again and again and again....
And your phone can't get to deep sleep, hence the high battery drain.
Hope this helps.
Dial *#9900# then disable "fast dormancy" and press close.
Monitor your drain over a day and see if its better...

anjath, do you have Scott Adams' permission to reproduce that comic strip of his? I would not post it in your sig if you do not. It would be a breach of copyright, as well as being quite rude.
Within a short span of one hour OS services on my device consumed 600mb.
I don't.have any sync apps running.
I am on stock ROM, unrooted.

I observe further strange behavior on my device.
While the lock screen time is getting updated correctly, the time in the notification bar is stuck at 5.29am.
What possible reasons could there be for this weird behavior. Is there any relation between the unintended data usage by the OS Services and this time stuck problem.
I will do a factory reset, but I am still eager to know the reason for these anomalies.

You don't have any "crazy" app doing all this?
You don't remember since that behavior started? After you install something... Change something on hidden menu...
Just asking cause I never had nothing like that.

I had installed two apps, namely cardiograph and 3d rollercoaster. I had uninstalled them after using them for a day.
I used box.net app to upload some 200+mb files via WiFi and I had downloaded aurora 2 tablet Rom using my data in the morning.
That was my entire activity for yesterday.

i know that turning off the mobile sync make you lose whatsapp messages and mails, but try that.
also, check how many accounts you have syncing (like google+or weather), change the syncing time intervals if its possible.
that behavior suggest me that its downloading a update or something.

There was one more change I had done, and that was to add a second google account (I had the sync off for that account as well)
Secondly, I spoke to my operator, and they clarified that the total usage was only 200+MB on the data plan and not 600MB as show in the data-manager app.
I am not sure if the different dates on the lock screen and the notification bar and the OS Services 600MB data usage were due to this addition of a second account.
In any case, I have done a factory reset and have one account added for now, and all seems to be in order.
My brightnes slider is gone and has been gone for a few days now. Its been fully charged, Cache cleared, Battery pull, Toggled notifications.

Normal Power Saving has nothing to do with it. Checkout if you have any apps that control brightness, like say YAAB. I noticed that when I enable YAAB to control brightness, the slider is gone. And when I disable it, the slider comes back.
