Stock JB does not support the required bluetooth protocols. I didn't get around to checking whether these are supposed to be included in the ROM or in the kernel, but if it is the kernel installing a better kernel could make this possible.
I got the Ipega Bluetooth controller from dx.com for only £16, and it works great so far. It came all the way from china so it took. quite a whike to get here.
If yu use the bluez ime on Stock JB youll be able to use the right thumbstick as it cannot be used by default.
I also recommend ps3 pad it`s the most universal controler at all [computer, ps3, smartphone]. You can even use its analog as a mouse. And the big advantage of it, is sixaxis app where You can map touch screen to work with almost every game. But You have to know that it is not compatible with stock JB rom.
I have these but when i connect them nothing happen.
1. hama mini usb otg adapter
2. Xbox360 wireless controller
3. Play and charge kit
4. Lg optimus 4x with stock v20a

I've just tested the WiiMote, and I can tell you - no, they don't work. Damn manufacturers modifying their BT stacks to left and right... :-(
Will probably root my phone and test that other WiiMote app that requires root. I'm hopeful for it working. Our phones is the perfect "gaming console" for retro gaming if so ;-)
Oh, what is the Root-requiring app? I've not come accross it...
*off to Google to find out*
EDIT: Ah, found it, still doesn't offer HTC/Samsung support. Shame.
Correction: Lg‘s screwed their bt stack so hard that third party software can‘t use it. its barely usable with sony ericsson liveview
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
so... when (im in no doubt) we get say Cm or modaco rom could we use a wii mote or bt keyboard or will it still be " locked down"??
It'll work with CM, but I don't think Paul's Modaco ROMS usually change the BT stack, so I wouldn't expect it to work there.
Call lg support regarding this they said that they hadnt heard of the issue yet. The more of us that alert them of this ****ty nonstandard bluetooth the more likely they are too fix it. When i told them how other phones with the same broadcom chip had been "fixed" with third party roms they escalated my ticket. Also please remind them that the hardware is capable of usb on the go and software that supports it is an edge in the market in theese hd days.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
I've sent them an email regarding this problem. I'll call them tomorrow too...
We need proper BT drivers!
both bluez ime and gamepro in combination with a zeemote bluetooth controller work fine.
so it's not entirely impossible to work with the optimus 2x bluetooth.
The problem is that the drivers deny low level access to the hw
Btw nice to know other people keep telling lg to fix this

a newb question I guess but I havent got an Android phone yet, this phone will be in my ownage in a couple of weeks :happypanda:
wont this work with this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014929
@hobs0n: No, won't work
After talking to LG it doesn't really sound they care...
Ah shabby So the only ones that can change the BT stack/drivers are the manufacturer for the phone? like LG, HTC and so on? Does the WII controllers work for other Android phones??
Does anyone have a BGP100-gamepad and knows if that works on our Optimus 2x? As Wiimotes don't work, maybe that gamepad would be usefull... at least with a SNES-gamepad mod it would be perfect for the SNES emu.
Not the BGP-100, but the Zeemote BT Gamepad.
Both are running only with GamePro driver.
The driver freezed while trying to connect with the gamepad.
Even my BT mini keyboard doesn‘t work.
Both were running fine with the Galaxy S.
So at this time there is no way to connect gaming hardware.
And if anyone is thinking about PS3 controller. No it doesn‘t work.
The new GamePro driver is working fine with Zeemote JS1
And has support for further Gamepads:
- iControlPad
- Act Labs Gamepad
The iControlPad is to expensive, but does anyone know the Act Lab Gamepad ?
This is just sad.. !
So there is now way we can hack in a proper USB driver? or do we have to w8 for LG to release one?
I really doubt that LG will release it. After talking to them it doesn't seem they care about the problem at all...
Is this something that might be different on the more stock G2x?

Man I hope so. Im going to order mine on the 15th
I was wondering if there is some kind of accessory for the optimus 2x, thats like a psx controller or something to use for playing psx emulator on
something like this for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycUH7N9ZsfE 1:08
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLB7zyWrVnY
could both be wireless and not, dont really care as long as its working good and not expensive
xxx
Hi,
Do you know any PSX like gamepad ( like this one http://phonejoy.weebly.com/buy.html as you shown in the video ) that would work with bluetooth and lg o2x (CM7) and that have a docking system to hold the phone on the gamepad ?
Is wiimote app restricted to wiimote or works with psx bluetooth pads ? Which app should I get if wiimote app is not good?
edit : answering myself:
App for bluetooth remotes : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hexad.bluezime
There is name of gamepad compatibles in the app description !
where can buy a bt pad for x2 in Italy or Europe ?
Where can I get a BT game pad on internet (or Europe)? I can't find any?
I am making one from a BT keyboard with a joystick shell, will try to post more when I get home tonight...
I remember reading somewhere that Wiimote drivers does not work on O2x. Is this true?
Has anyone tested the phonejoy controller on O2x?
I'm buying a O2x and want to play emulator games with it.
One idea is to buy a mini bluetooth keyboard and use its guts for a game controller.
Anyone tested this or some similar working on O2x?

Aren't there any good bluetooth gamepads that works with cm7?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA Premium App
Lots will work with CM7 - Phonejoy, iControlPad, Datel Retro Wireless Controller, regular Wiimotes, PS3 controllers...
They work with CM7 and all the other GB roms, they do however not work with Froyo roms.
The wiimote drivers dont work with the O2X i tried the other day most apps for close and the others just dont conenct to the O2X.
anything new about this?
it would be great if somebody find a way to use a "ps-like" controller
.... or a cheap usb mini keyboard
best regards,
bikerboy030
ps3 sixaxis controller works on miui (and cm7)
I tried playing riptyde with the WiiMote but there is such a huge input lag (it's way worse than the wii lag which doesn't seem to bother many people) that it is completely unplayable.
This could work for turn based games or something similar but even then it would bother me too much.

Google said that the ICS (or honeycomb) will support
generic gamepads via OTG connection and I was curious to know
if the new ICS update on the Note supports it.
People has tested this with the new S3 and it seems that it even support
wii motes and PS3 controllers

anyone tested this with the note?
What do we do with ps3 controllers on OTG? bluetooth is enough for gaming rite?

I am not sure if GS3 supports PS3 blutooth (with out root method)
I guess not because they share different bluetooth protocol.
and the point is ICS should support OTG gamepads and I wanted to
know if it is working on the ICS updated Note.
Doesn't work. I tried a USB Xbox 360 controller on both the German, and Taiwan official ICS releases.
worked

weired. I just connected my general usb joypad (for computers)
via OTG to my Note and it works.
It doesnt understand the presses though. I think you need a seperate
app to set each buttons. But it does move around the screen and
I can press apps.
What would be cool, is a controller/gamepad that allows you to attach a handset onto the top, avoiding the need for wired/wireless connectivity and at the same time provide a more comfortable gamepad experience.
Hey guys. Im currently owning a htc one x+. I like sense, but with sense 4+ based roms my favorite app ( sixaxis controller) doesnt work. I'm thinking about getting the htc one, but i have to know if sixaxis controller app works. Can anyone help me?

Google play is telling me that its compatible.
If you're rooted install this app (free) to see if sixaxis will work or not.
I can't get it to work :/
It doesn't work. I was pretty disappointed considering i could even use a sixaxis controller on my iPhone
I remember reading that it has something to do with the bluetooth drivers HTC uses
Hi,
I'm new here and would start with this:
It's sad to here, that the HTC One doesn't support Sixaxis, I really hoped for that...
Is there any way to get the controller working e.g. with some kind of bluetooth dongle that emulates a keyboard to use it over an OTG cable?
THX

It will work with a OTG cable but if the games doesn't have gamepad support, you would need the Sixaxis app.to map the keys.

What will happen if i connect two Sixaxis Controller over USB?
Will the HTC One regognize both controllers separatly?

No they will be seen as the same pad.
This is ridiculous on HTC's part and i'm seeing it as a complete deal breaker, i love this phone but this is a load of crap.
No controllers are working over USB OTG for me, anyone managed to get them to work?
Moga Pro working well however.
Try a custom kernel.

The moga works wirelessly I'm guessing? I was tempted to get it but never did because sixaxis always worked for me. Since apparently it doesn't on this phone, I may get the moga if it works wirelessly .

What's moga by the way? As for the six axis app, I'm guessing it'll work on aosp or cyanogen based ROMs.

i have the pocket moga and it works fine. Make sure to get the universal driver to use it in unsupported games:

the pro controller should basically mimic what a ps3 controller does

First unlock your HTC ONE, then recovery, then backup your original rom just in case. Install Viper ROM 1.1.0 along with Elemntal X kernel search forums here in xda. Download them and put both in a folder of choice on your internal sd card. Wipe factory reset, flash Viper ROM then flash Elemntal X kernel. Reboot, rebooot again (yes, twice). Connect OTG cable, no power add-on needed, direct cable only ($6 ebay) along with PS3 controller usb wired of course. Open game. Play. No sixaxis needed, kernel recognizes the contoller right away. Games it works with that I have and know for sure work. MC4, Max Payne, Shadow Gun, GTA 3 anniv. addition, Dead Trigger, havent tryed Nova yet but im sure it works, Sonic. Most of these games you cant configure buttons for so the kernel does the mapping for you that you cant change. NOTE: After market PS3 controllers dont work, work but some options dont work in game like shoot, BIG ONE lol. XBOX 360 works, but for the games that have button mapping ONLY. You loose options in game with ones that dont have mapping, like again, shooting. HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE!!!!!

Yea but then you have the issue of using a wired controller, I already knew that you could do that.
The whole fascination is that it's "Wireless", hence why were talking about bluetooth working with Sense, it's an age old issue which has plagued HTC's phones and the only way around it usually is to run an AOSP or Cyanagen based ROM.
Using the Moga allows you to keep sense and have a pad that works over BT.
Appreciate the input but it defeats the object.

First post, thanks for this great forum!
Wasn't sure if this should be posted here or in the Q&A forum so forgive me if I've misposted.
First, I'm sure the answer is yes, but are the sixaxis ps3 controllers still limited to rooted nook HD's?? I've done alot of seaching and I've seen ICS natively supports them so I was hoping it had changed.
Second, can the wii u pro controller connect to a stock nook HD through a wii controller app the same as a wii controller?
I've searched both these topics here and elsewhere without a dinfinitive answer so hopefully I'm not repeating a previous thread.
Thanks in advance!
So Sixaxis is supposed to work for a rooted Nook HD+? I haven't been able to get it working.
i have a dual shock 3 that works but you need to change the mac address of the controller first (via an app on pc/mac), then i used the sixaxis app from the play store to connect the controller. i'd be interested in checking out the wii u pro controller but i've been content just using the wiimote w/ the classic pro controller attached and it's working just fine for me, even if it is a bit clunky to carry all that stuff around. if you don't feel like putting in the legwork you could always just pay the $34.99 for a moga controller since it's probably the closest you'll get to an official android controller
