Hello guys,
I'am using a custom bootloader en received an OTA update, but it won't install the regular way.
So i've flashed the stock recovery.img back, hoping it would work, but it didn't. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Relock your bootloader and it will work
Thx man! Will this wipe my data?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
If you relock your bootloader you will lose nothing.
But, after, if you will unlock this, you will lose all
Thank you for the quick reply. Ok now that makes sense, so I can flash the stock recovery, lock the bootloader and then update. But I have to reinstall everything because unlocking the bootloader will wipe my device again. Isn't there any possibility to do the OTA update without losing any data?

Unfortunately that is the case I guess the only solution would be to flash the 1.29.401.16R zip from this thread so at least you will have the most up to date rom.

Thanks guys for helping me out, I think I'm going the flash the stock rom back and quit root acces. Maybe I will root my m7 back when the google rom is out.

From what I understand you're saying you do not want to install a custom rom, just rooted stock rom?
Yes you can still recieve ota update but I think you must relock the bootloader before you install ota update
You could do that yet it would be an unbearable and unnecessary effort.
Just go with Android Revolution HD.
It is in sync with the OTA updates, nothing would look or feel different than stock. But has a better performance and battery life overall.

All right, I want root my stock rom and (Titanium Backup) and to continue to have the official update.
INFO:
Unlocking through htcdev.com will wipe your phone to factory defaults. Nothing will be wiped of you sd-card, only of your phone.
Ok, but after i have ulnocked the phone with htcdev, where find a guide for root?

After you unlock, you can use the same procedure that you do for Revolutionary, namely you install ClockworkMod Recovery and then from CWM recovery you can install the lastest version of su-3.0.xxxx.zip to root the ROM. Then you can use Titanium Backup, BusyBox, etc.
Guys,
My HTC ONE Google Play Edition received the 4.3 update notification, but when I tried, it gave me a status 7 error and refused to install the update. How can I solve this? I'm using stock kernel, CWM recovery, and it's rooted.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for reply!! May I know how I can restore both the recovery and ROM to the default one? Should I follow this?

You have to flash only the stock recovery and relock the bootloader
And yes, use that guide.
After the update will be installed

Thanks guy!! I will check the post thoroughly later. However, just one more quick question. Since my device is an original GPE, it looks like all I have to do will be just a fastboot flash recovery & fastboot oem relock? Seems like from that guide, most steps prior to these commands are needed to turn a normal HTC ONE into a GPE one. Am I understanding correctly here?
Thanks again.
Relocking boot loader not necessary. My boot loader is unlocked.

Is better if the relock isn't necessary
Guys, thanks for you guys help. I've stocked it back to stock recovery, and have the bootloader locked back. Now when I start the phone, the little lock isn't shown anymore. However, I'm still having 2 issues here.
1) The 4.3 update isn't there anymore!! It doesn't come back even I did a clear cache/force close on the Google Services Framework.
2) It's still showing my phone is still tampered. I booted into the recovery, and it's now the stock one. Is that normal?
Thanks.
Normal because you're rooted
Thanks guy!! I could upgrade successfully.
Hi,
I wanted to ask whether I will get the official OTA update if my bootloader says *TAMPERED*.
Also, what else could prevent me form getting the updates? I am running this ROM.
Thanks for your time.

Yes you will get the official update but you need to have the stock recovery installed, so when the update comes out flash the stock recovery using fastboot, do the OTA update and then reflash TWRP or CWM and thats it.
You'll need to lock your bootloader aswell.

Actually No you don't have to as long as you have the stock odexed ROM and the stock recovery you can do the OTA!
You can check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306880

Didn't work for me when I went back to stock, OTA failed but worked after I'd relocked my bootloader.

That's weird, it worked for me when I updated to 1.24.401.8 last week!
Thanks for the answers. My ROM should be de-odexed. That is a problem I presume?

It's needs to be the stock ROM in stock form, without modification, otherwise the OTA will probably fail.
Retested this morning, update downloads, goes to install but stops part way through and shows the red triange with exclamation point ... That's on a stock, odexed ROM with stock recovery.
Several times I have run ruu on pc to go back to 4.1.2 using 1.28.401.6 ruu, then with S off and super cid and unlocked bootloader have successfully received and installed Ota updates up to an including 2.224.401.8
I am convinced that ota are no problem with unlocked bootloader.
Don't know if s off effects this
I am planning on unlocking and rooting my Canadian HTC One Silver on Rogers, right now actually, but I am just curious, 4.3 is supposed to be out for me sometime this weekend, maybe even tonight or tomorrow, so is it worth rooting atm or should I wait for 4.3 then wait for a root method or whatever I have to do, I am new to android and to rooting but I have been researching it for ages while I was stuck with BB7...
So, if this is not something to worry about or you think I should just go for it, is anyone willing to help me root over skype or TV or whatever, I am still confused and could use some... live help. I have a good mic and I am a good listener so it shouldn't be an issue.
Wait the Update and unlock the phone after
Because, if you want do the OTA after the unlocking, you have to revert back to lock and install it
I think is better do all after the OTA

Was wondering the same actually...
I have unlucked my One, flashed TWRP recovery, made a backup of the stock rom and flashed a custom rom.
If I'd want to get the official stock update (if I understand correctly that's the only way to also flash firmware if you are S-ON with hboot 1.54?) the process would be:
* Restore the stock rom backup
* Flash stock recovery
Am I missing something?

I understand, still have to wait till the update actually comes available but it's always good to be prepared Thanks again!
I flashed my phone with CyanogenMod13, completely not knowing what I was doing. I realized there were a few bugs on CM13 like my camera not working and things like that so I want to go back to stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 so I can have FOTA and a fully functioning phone. I know it was pretty silly of me to actually attempt this without consideration but could anyone help me out on getting back?
I have a Z5 Compact E5823.
Thanks.
Just download flashtool, stock firmware and flash it
btw. It's Xperia Z section, not Z5
Thanks man, sorry about the wrong section.
Will I be able to flash stock rom and receive OTA updates? My bootloader is currently unlocked.
I have already tried flashing before and I am getting random errors each time, with all drivers downloaded properly.
I flashed it with Emma last night and it took me to 5.1.1, and I cant receive any updates, so what am I doing wrong?
I want to go back to stock rom with OTA updates, although CyanogenMod13 was great.

Nope, OTA not working on unlocked bootloader, this can brick your phone
How can I lock my bootloader? Or do you think its recommended I keep the bootloader unlocked?
I just wanted to go back to stock rom for OTA updates thats all.
Many thanks.

I don't even know what that is lol. I should've done research in advance before proceeding to unlock my bootloader. I did make a backup of everything though, I used a tutorial, I used TWRP to backup stuff, or something like that?
Also, is there no way to receive OTA updates now that my bootloader is unlocked? Will flashing stock rom not allow me to receive OTA updates?
Thanks for your ongoing support btw, really stressing me out lol.
