Just to begin, normally i am pretty on top of stuff when it comes to messing with hardware/software, so i figured this flashing will be easy.
I started off with rooting my Rogers HTC Dream, which worked out just fine.
Then i tried to install the cyanogen mod, and now i cant boot past the rogers logo.
since then i have tried installing android 1.5 radio, cyanogen's recovery image (1.3.1)
i couldnt find a guide for installing any of these, so essentially the only thing i did was enter fastboot, run fastboot boot recovery.img (the same one i used for rooting) and update from update.zip on each of the things i tried to install.
Seems that I missed out on the initial preperation.
Also, Nandbackup didnt work when i tried to use it, it would just fail every time, so i am left without a backup file of my previous state.
So my question is: What can I do to A:get cyanogen's mod working, or B:restore the unmodified rogers-branded rom to my phone
Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated. Just got this phone yesterday, and I love it, but now i seem to have gone and messed it up
I have a bunch of bad backups, they have only the boot.img part of several backups.
K here is the order I did anything.
Rooted->cyanomod 3.6.7.2->recovery 1.3.1 (tried to install it through the raw file, didnt seem to work) radio for 1.5 android-> recovery 1.3.1 (through update.zip, worked)
I figured cyanogen's was compatible kuz on a post about rooting the rogers phone, a link was posted, by cyanogen linking to his mod.
Don't believe its compatible...I read your thread in the development section. Like soulife said, try getting a fellow Rogers G1 user to get you a system dump.
yea that requires a fellow rogers user with a g1 xD
all my friends have dumbphones for now, so no luck

Try posting in the "Rooting Rogers Dream" thread in Dream General. Maybe someone will provide you a system dump in there?
yea i posted one saying i need a nandroid dump
lets hope someone can get one

I have found these files off a rogers G1

What exactly do I do now to return my phone to it's initial status.
I already have adb, rogers sdk, random rooting stuff downloaded
Thanks
when i try to restore latest backup in the recovery mode, it starts erroring saying the device has no space
any ideas?
I'll try to keep this one explained simple
- Was running have boot loader unlocked and am rooted, was trickdroid
- Decided to try what else was out there for ROMS, switched to Renovate rom, was a downgrade from trickdroid in my eyes
- Decided to switch to one more rom before making the jump back to trickdroid, accidentally wiped internal storage data along with everything else
- After wasting most of my day messing with this crap, I finally got everything back to somewhat operational again
- My internal memory and Cache at one point were unmountable and read 0MB, had to do a factory reset via boot loader then a full wipe using TWRP
- Finally have trickdroid installed and its semi operational, aside from the fact that when I load it, it instantly has no service, no internet, nothing. It sends me to the launcher portion and there are no apps on there either. Shortly after it starts it will restart the device.
-After doing several restarts into recovery I have confirmed that the system partition consistently unchecks itself and I have already attempted fixing permissions several times and doing a system wipe and full ROM install again.. same issue to no avail.
- Last night I actually managed to pull up icons and programs, somehow, but again there was no system being loaded up
A little help please? I am in a state of a soft brick at this point, which is not bad considering I had a SUPER HARD brick earlier.
Help me, please. I just want to get this phone back to a functioning state!

A hard brick is unrecoverable. It means your phone is literally as responsive as a brick. I would say your phone is pretty functional if the actual OS loads.
Anyway, have you tried RUU? That usually brings everything back to normal. Be sure to use the correct one, and note that you will lose EVERYTHING. Even root.
EDIT: Try this.

So I did try using this link and downloaded the full zip file and unzipped as per instructions of QBKing77 off of youtube, then clicked setup.exe within the folder which was unzipped, but after it ran through its setup process, nothing else popped up? I tried doing it as well through hasoons all in one toolkit but while that worked, it didn't work as expected and it just stayed at the black htc screen. I'm lost at the moment.
Trickdroid works on the Sprint variant?

We should add to the Q/A sticky the names of ROMs NOT to flash like Android revolution, trickdroid, etc.
P.S. He tried RUU, he's having trouble.

It wouldn't be as bad if the Int'l forum was marked so. If I were new, I would assume all HTC Ones are the same too.

Very true there are HTC One forums for:
International
Sprint
AT&T
T-Mobile
So it could be confusing to some
Hello from my finally unbricked one! Turns out I was having issues with the computer itself launching installshield so it wouldn't keep the factory RUU running. I did it from a different computer and it did it in stride.. I'm so happy to have this thing back. So on a sidenote I had to rwlock bootloader and then I had to reload the factory RUU.
I could really use your help guys. I'm trying to get back to stock so I can get the updates being pushed by HTC/Rogers. There are a couple bugs that are really annoying me. So, before i tell you what I need, here's what I have.
M7_ul
Locked Bootloader - was relocked after unlocking a while ago
Rooted
CWM recovery
Stock HTC ROM
S-OFF
Baseband 4a.14.3250.14
Main 1.29.631.4
Modelid: PN0712000
CID: Roger001
Now, what I need is either the RUU or the stock recovery files and some sort of guide on how to install them. I've tried downloading from here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/P60 but i can't flash it via CWM. I've also tried downloading and RUU from here: http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...5013-1033115001-release-312087-signed-2-4zip/ but when i unzip i get corrupt files and i can't move it to the phone.
I'm at a complete loss here. I would really appreciate any guidance you guys can provide. Any idea where I can get the proper RUU and how I can install it? Or if it's easier to just get the stock recovery, any idea where I can get it and how to install it using CWM or another method such as terminal emulator?
no need to relock bootloader is s-off'd
easiest way, IF there is an ruu or ruu zip for the rogers variant (you would need the ruu files that match 1.29.631.4) floating around i suggest this...back up sd card contents, boot into recovery...wipe the system, reboot into bootloader connect device via fastboot, run the ruu..one it boots except the ota
done
but how do i run the RUU and how do I know which exactly is the right RUU for me? I've heard RUUs are exe files but i haven't found any that are. The one I think is right for me is a zip and it seems to be corrupt though I dled the 1gb file twice. So i'm a bit confused.

Thanks so much. But I'm still not sure which version to get. I tried the RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.29.707.3_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_311678_signed.exe but no go. I get an error. Says it's the wrong ROM. Ugh. I've had no luck with this. So frustrating.

Ugh. Thanks cue_32. I had just downloaded that file when I saw your post, so I was very hopeful this would work. Pushed it to my phone, tried installing via CWM but almost immediately it said installation aborted. I have no idea what's going on. Nothing seems to be installable. WTF? And the link you posted for the stock recovery doesn't seem to lead to anywhere that has a recovery file for DL. So, I'm totally stuck now. UGH. Been on this for almost 2 days now. Haven't run into this much trouble with any of my previous phones, despite trying out almost a dozen different ROMs. Here, I'm just trying to revert to stock recovery and RUU and can't even do that. Sigh. I just don't get why none of the RUUs are installable.

There's no RUU available yet for Rogers so I personally wouldn't try any other RUU.
So you downloaded the Nandroid backup from Whamboush (or whatever the name was), you extracted and moved the EXTRACTED FOLDER to the proper location (Clockwork>Backup) and updated the permissions correct? I used Root Browser to do this, the permission should be exactly like your other CWM backups. If I recall correctly there are 3 columns with 3 rows, all are X'd except for the last box on the 2nd column\3rd Row. (middle\bottom)
example:
X _ X
From there I just did the restore using the original clock work mod (non-touch cause I'm old skool)
After it successfully flashes, before it prompts you to reboot you'll be prompted to re-root from within CWM itself. Select No.
After it reboots, test to make sure everything is ok.
Then enter fastboot mode (adb reboot bootloader), from fastboot mode you can then flash the recovery.
You're welcome

Flash, unroot (if necessary) and flash stock recovery, which is what the instructions I provided, and optional lock the boot loader
So, I tried changing the permissions, which I hadn't done before, using Root Explorer but it says that some files can't be modified. So I can't set the permissions and CWM won't see those files at all, so that's not an option it seems. So I decided to just flash the recovery but when i do i get an error in adb Failed (remote: not allowed). So, that's not working either. Hehe. Every time I think i got it, something stands in the way. Will definitely feel like an accomplishment when i get this thing done finally, just not sure how or when it'll happen.

well, interested in another option.....i havent done this, but some people do...
change you CID to some device which has rcvd OTA, like mine is HTC_J15....just an example... now your mobile would be WWE internation blah blah... now grab the RUU.exe for it....backup all your data...and run it.....and then go for the OTA's ...in short the region of your device would be changed... you will have to find it in the forum itself... there are tutorials out there to do it...
Well, I'm leaving for the weekend, so I'll have to put this aside for now. In my research I had come across what you are suggesting but it seemed like more trouble and a little confusing so I opted against it, but maybe I'll have to revisit it when i get back. Just to be sure, the EXTRACTED FOLDER I'm referring to is the last folder before you see ALL the files of the 'ROM' like boot.img, cache.ext4.tar, recovery.img, etc...This folder is the one you want to make the permission changes to.
I had the exact same problem before and tried on ES File explorer, Astro File explorer, and Root browser (not root explorer although Im sure it works too). (I've never had to have this many installed at once) but basically this was the problem because after I extracted and updated the permission using Root browser, it worked on 1st try.
What I had done as well is make sure I was moving the extracted folder to the proper location by doing a nandroid back up first. From there I located the backup I just created and moved the extracted folder there. Once the extracted folder is in the right place, I went and used root browser and updated the permissions.
This totally worked Cue. Thank you so much. Finally managed to get the nandroid back up flashed, but then when I went to flash the recovery, i got an error: Failed (remote: not allowed). Ugh. So baby steps, but still in the right direction. So now my status is, Locked bootloader, s-off, flashed nandroid backup, but still have CWM recovery which I apparently can't seem to shake. Anyone know where I can maybe find a .zip recovery that I can try flashing via CWM? Not sure whether that's even possible, as CWM would essentially be overwriting itself but not sure what other options i have. From the research I've done so far though, it seems i can't flash a recovery with a locked bootloader. It does feel like i'm going around in circles here.

Do i really have to go through the entire unlock bootloader process to flash stock recovery? Ugh. I honestly don't get why this is so complicated. My previous phones were SOOO much simpler in comparison. This just feels like way too much trouble. I originally just wanted a rooted phone to get rid of bloatware and other small tweaks. I had no idea it would have such annoying consequences. Now, I'm just trying to get the stock ROM updated with HTC's latest bug fixes and software upgrade before i try and custom roms. I suspect it's not going to get easier though. I think once i get this finally done, i'm just going to leave the phone as is, completely stock at least until the 4.2.2 upgrade. Then after that I'll root it again. I used to love this process of rooting, installing custom roms, etc. Was fun, but this is just tedious as all hell. Hehe. Anyway, enough ranting. Ya, if anyone can tell me what my next step is, I'd be grateful.
ok, so i was trying to root my sprint htc one, and everything was going, ok. i unlocked the bootloader simple enough. then i wanted to back up the data, before i tried putting roms on it. well twrp kept saying i only had about 34 mb of space which made no sense since i had formatted it, and only brought back things like contacts and texts. when i checked my phone it said that i had 24gbs. so i couldnt find an answer to this anywhere so while looking through twrp i saw the wipe function. not having seen anything about it, i said, maybe if i reformat it again, itl clear up. so i hit wipe all. well after it was done it only said i had 1.2 gbs, so still confused i went to load my normal os, well i cant. because wiping everything meant the system data the os is on. i spend hours trying to find a fix, as im only able to go between the bootloader and twrp, and i see a sideload option, and after following the steps, i attempt to sideload. everything is going well. Viper looks like its about to install, until at the last second it says install fail. but now i cant even access the recovery menu. literally stuck in the boot loader option. all my contacts and pictures and stuff are backed up, so i have no problem formatting my phone to scratch if it means fixing this, but can anyone point me in the right direction???? i cant find anything on this, ive been searching through this site, and some people with similar issues solve it by sheer luck, but i have no rom back up(since i was trying to do that when i got into this problem) please please help!!!
**edit** i was able to get into twrp by using the recovery steps, though im just back to square 1. is there a guarenteed reliable sideloader that can work?

Do you still have the memory issue? If so, try running a RUU, and see if that fixes your problem.
If not, just use adb sideload to sideload a ROM. Then wipe everything except internal storage and install the ROM normally.
EDIT: Looks like @BD619 ninja'd me XD
BTW sideload very rarely works when you wipe your sdcard.

hey thanks for the reply. i followed the guide and after some effort, everything seemed good, but when i was trying to load 5.03 sense 6 rom, i got to the htc start up, then it defaulted back to the bootloader..i went with the deodex version of the download, should i try the odex? or a different version all together?
and now it doesnt want to boot into recovery mode either! going to try redoing the steps, but i just cant figure out what the problem is
**edit* i cant fix twrp. the title loads, but thats it. endless loop
ok i got it to seemingly work. restoring content now. sat in fron of my pc for 15 hours...not even sure where imat or if i got any closer to rooting..smh..thank you everyone who helped. if anyone comes across this
to get out of the endless cycle of recover/loading screen.. delete your twrp, or whatevs your using. even if you have the latest, just redownload it. worked for me. i guess there is a huge difference between the odex and the deodex.i had figured deodex was a more refined version, but maybe it had more complicated software. in any case, if you are at a point where you dont have a base os, and you make it this far, go with odex, it worked for me. htc is big on back up, so i was more worried about having to scrap my phone then i was regaining data, especially with most of my stuff backed up to google drive. hopefully you guys are careful.
now...about this backup issue i had in the first place. how can i fix the storage issue? i have a 32 gb phone minus partition leaves me with over 24gb..why is it going based off the separate phonememory slot? why cant i change it?
Hi, I did a lot of things with my One Mini 2 and I actually really don't know what to do anymore... So much options and yet there always seems to be a problem. Let me explain everything.
What I did:
-flashed a custom rom, then went back to a stock rom of this forum
-flashed the dt2w kernel, it messed up my phone so I then flashed the liberty one, which worked
But with the liberty one I had some memory problems, for exemple I couldn't take screenshots... That's why I decided that I wanted to put my phone just as it was when I bought it, I really hope that's possible, by that I mean having official firmwares etc, therefore being able to do official upgrades from my phone (is that what OTA is?).
I looked on internet and it looks like what I need is RUU, as it includes everything (from what I understood)... I know a lot of threads were made about this, but quite a few months ago, so that's why I'm making a new one, and to make things clear.
Also, I downloaded an official kernel from htcdev.com, but each time I tried flashing it with TWRP, it "failed".
So, if you guys have an answer, solution or, in best case, the actual RUU, that would be great.
Thanx

I looked on internet and it looks like what I need is RUU, as it includes everything (from what I understood)... I know a lot of threads were made about this, but quite a few months ago, so that's why I'm making a new one, and to make things clear.
Also, I downloaded an official kernel from htcdev.com, but each time I tried flashing it with TWRP, it "failed".
So, if you guys have an answer, solution or, in best case, the actual RUU, that would be great.
Thanx

Still no RUU's avaiable as HTC wont release them. your best option is to use TWRP backup and restore.
Original stock backup
Thank you, but my backup kind of disappeared... I saw your post where there was the "HTC Original Backup.zip", I tried to flash but again it failed... Am I supposed to flash it as a backup?

You need to send it as it is to your phone and use TWRP > restore. choose file and done.
Thanx so much for answering... I uses the backup you told me to. Although I had to use the "install" option instead of the backup one, it now works perfectly! But how do I know if my phone is "official"? Are the upgrades going to be made straight from the phone?

Yes OTA updates should work just fine. just look for updates in settings>about >software update.
you may have one for polaris office.
Hi, I just want to check this too before I screw up wife's phone..
She has CM12 on her phone now as I replaced recovery as well as unlocking bootloader. Now she wants it back to stock as too many things crash on her. I get that I can install your backup but what worries me is that other posts have said you need the stock recovery to allow for OTA updates to work and the link to this no longer works.
She MUST have OTA updates or my balls will be removed, so can you please confirm this, but also explain why.
Thanks (on behalf of my testicles and unborn children!)
(Oh, and she wants it unrooted ant the bootloader relocked)

To unroot just lock bootloader:
fastboot oem lock
