I got a brand new HTC One delivered today and after turning it on to try the audio and check the difference with/without beats I realised I couldn't turn it on. Tried to plug the headphones, nothing changed, looked into the settings again not change. I tried without FM radio, HTC Music, Youtube app, Google Play Music app and the end result was always the same, no change.
Does anyone knows how to fix this? I search and haven't found any solution on XDA neither in the whole web.

You mean that the toggle switch is greyed out and won't let you switch it on/off?

I'd just return it for a new one. Should work out of the box.

I have now tried a couple of different earphones and also a couple of earphone button apps, but I still can't skip tracks with the mic button double tap - the phone instead re-dials the last used phone number.. I am beginning to think it may be a fatal flaw in the phone.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

I got a set of urbeats bundled with the phone. They allow the skip track and other features perfectly.

With mine, I got a similar set but it was not branded as urbeats.
Did yours have more than 1 button, ie. A dedicated skip track button, or do you have to double tap the singular mic button like me?
Are you using the default music player?
Thanks

Here is a pic of the controls. Works on the default player.
Can test a few more players if you like.
Thank you very much for your help. I now know what I need to at last get the track change stuff working.

Where did you purchase these if you don't mind my asking? I've never seen beats that say they're specifically for HTC phones..
I got them free from Phones4u.

I also have the urbeats headphones and the next and previous tracks buttons work perfectly on both the stock player and the Google music player. On the pocketcasts app they skip forward or backward 20 seconds. In short these headphones seem to work perfectly with the HTC One and have great sound quality too. I also got them free from phones4u.

The urbeats headphones were only given to the first 500 people who preordered the phone. I'm sure the op is talking about the headphones that come bundled with the phone itself. The headphones that come in the box don't allow track skipping, only play, pause & accept calls

If the remote is built into the headphones it should work yes? I have the earpod from apple will they work? (or other apple headphones with remote built in)
Also have a white pair of in ear beats with remote
Will these work to change the songs??

I have tried one time a Iphone 4 headphone on a HTC Device and it works perfectly. The only issue is the volume up & down doesn't work. But play, pause, next, previous track, mic all work flawlessly.

Beats Wireless work perfectly with Poweramp ^_^
Does anyone know what causes this? Third day with this device, came from a sensation but I never had this issue. Looked up the issue and a post Said that it's caused by playing audio with the screen off...
I didn't do that?
And the 2 posts were from people with HTC ones.. anyone know why?

thats triggered when you have notification comes in. when notifications come in while screen off and you play a sound it triggers the audio_out_4
set your phone to vibrate and it wont trigger.

Thanks, you helped me figure out the problem! It was hockey and goal alerts from 2 programs. Disabled them and voila! So apparently it could come from apps too! Thanks!

I don't know if this is a new "feature" but I hate it. I listen to spotify all day at work and I don't like having my phone on vibrate when it's on my desk. Every other phone I have used would route notifications through the headset when it's plugged in but on the One it always plays through the speakers. I don't want my ringer on at work and now I am forced to keep it on silent so I'm missing texts unless I keep checking my phone.
Ppl have recommended soundabout from the play store and it has worked on other phones but it doesn't work for the One. Any advice?

Hi guys and girls,
My question is exactly what the title says, can you force beats audio to always be on for what your ringtone/ notification tones.
I've had a search on here but couldn't find any answers.
Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure it is applied if beats is already enabled... I can hear the difference in my ringtones when i turn beats on/off.

That's strange for me then, when I play the tones as songs they sound much better than when my phone rings

I think that's a completely different issue. The difference between beats on and off is not as drastic as when you set a song as a ringtone and when you play it from the music player. I noticed how crappy it is too, but don't know why it's like that. I actually found this thread by doing a search for a fix, but no help so far.
Maybe dragging and dropping music files from your computer via USB to their respective locations would work. I'm sure the problem is in the mp3 to ringtone format conversion process.

That's what I was hoping for when I asked the question /:

Well if you can make a lightweight app that plays a silent sound in the background at all times (enabling beats 24/7) then it should work. That's the only way I've found to get it working.
It will cause battery drain though....how much exactly I don't know.

It will make the phone not go into deep sleep... This is a lot of battery drain i think...
There must be a trigger to enable beats with every sound.... But i dont know where to find it.
If we make the apk responsable ( dont know wich maybe prizm.apk?) A user app. Would this change something?
Every other app downloaded is using beats and these are all user apps.
How can we change the system apps into user apps?

System apps use beats too. I moved a few apps to system to see if any difference but no.
My guess though would be to try and mod the audio policy.conf
Or maybe mod the htcmusicenhancer.apk

In the audio policy.conf i didnt find anything that could enable beats. I dont have the tools to edit a apk file.
Opening the apk file with a zip extractor didnt gave me the result i would have. Coudnt find something that had to do with beats also.

Could be a framework thing but I haven't taken the time to decompile the One's framework yet. Other than that I got nothing. I asked over on the ViperOne thread to see if it could be added into the rom. Now to wait and see if the dev can/wants to do it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one interested in seeing this happen wish I could be more help but I know nothing about war you's are talking about haha

Definitely looking for this feature as well. Even for me, who's not really good at distinguishing music quality notice how different the music plays as ringtone and in Music Player with Beats On.
I've noticed this before too. I also noticed that, on maximum volume, the phone plays ringtones louder than music. I think the phone makes ringtones sound worse (through reducing bass) so it can play the ringtone louder than it would play music, and not have distortion.
I don't think there will be a solution for this...
I have modified my custom ringtone a bit so it sounds nicer then before. So I can live with it.

Well since Beats is just and equalizer app, how can we edit the mp3 manually to fit the same options as Beats use?
Hey guys,
I got a factory unlocked HTC One from the official online retail store. Lately, I discovered that my phone only works with the beats earphone that bundles with the phone.
I have tried to plug in other earbuds but the phone just doesn't detect/register it -- sound still comes out from the phone speaker. Those other earbuds are working fine on my PC and MP3 player.
Currently, I am using an app called Soundabout to remedy the problem. But I don't want to rely on that app in long run. Any thoughts or solutions on this issue? Thanks!
You should send it back

Weird thing. Just tried my One using Sennheiser's and even using those extremely cheap given in trains and both work as expected.
Have you tried those other phones in several different devices? Just to be sure...
I think you shoul contact support.
