Hey all,
I've recently switched to a Sony Xperia T (LT30a) on the Rogers network here in Canada.
I want to do a battery wipe at some point but I can't get into the boot loader when starting up the phone.
I've tried every combination I've seen on here including.
Power On + Vol Up
Power On + at sony screen + Vol Up Repetitively (Same with Down)
Power On + Volume Down
I remember it being a lot easier on my old Samsung Galaxy S2 and other android phones.
Any advice?
Many thanks!
Basttrax
You have to unlock the bootloader to be able to "get into it“
Which I don't think you can not do on your phone.
However, what I think you mean is the recovery, which Xperia phones do not come with, you must root it and install cmw recovery for locked bootloaders, find it in the dev section

Damn. Yes I do mean recovery. Is there any way to do a battery stat wipe outside of recovery? My phone seems to go dead with around 10% left on the display.

If you are rooted you can just delete the file.
I am trying to remember where it is located...if anyone else can help out please chime in

Tapped from The Bond Phone!
Wow gotta love XDA and the great users on here. I'll give it a try tonight.
I read that I was supposed to drain the phone completely. Charge full without turning on then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats. When in this process should I delete the stats?
Thanks again
after the full charge will be the same as the process you just said.
Wiping battery stats means deleting the file.
But besides, you should try this app. It might help you save some time:

Of course you could just use hens teeth......
This rubbish about battery stats was debunked eons ago, the file is regenerated with any extended charging with new data.

If that's the case why does the phone totally die before getting below 14% battery?

A lot of people seem to have this issue, so I assume it's a flaw in the Rom, you could try a different version.
But first I would wipe cache and dalvik and fix permissions from recovery, then download Rom manager and run fix permissions from there, twice before rebooting, this does the data partition the one from recovery does the system partition only.
Bet that improves the situation, then completely drain the phone so that it won't power on just the three flashes of red light, then charge to full with no interruptions until the phone reports battery full

I'll give this a try tonight. This is what I get when I buy a used phone for $50 off a local buy and sell. But really is this is the only issue with the phone I can't complain.

Last few days has been a nightmare since i wake up in the morning only to discover than my phone is completely switched off when i didn't switch it off at all...furthermore when i went to bed it had 50%+ of battery life - i don't know what is wrong with the device - please "Note", this is stock device and i've only been downloading games/apps from android/samsung market etc.
Also if you would like to know - the very first time this happened to me - 2 days ago - at the start of the lock screen (bottom left corner) popped out a thing saying "safe mode"???
Can't believe this phone is already messing up only into 1 weeks use!!!
Any help would be appreciated dearly...Thanks

You need better Battery status app for identifying what makes your phone go dead every night. I think you got to be rooted.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Ive actually seen the "safe mode" with my gio before but never knew what it is.....
Anyways.....
Just now turn it off go to recovery
(press home button and power button at the same time when powered off)
Scroll down-up using volume buttons
Scroll down to wipe cache and press home button, then scroll down or up to wipe data factory reset then press home button, scroll up to reboot system now.....
PLEASE NOTICE: BY DOING THIS, YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA, but it may fix your phone, so its worth a try.
Click thanks if I helped

No just rooting doesn't mean that you have to lose your data. Unless you are on non direct rootable rom. Flashing custom roms require data wipes!

Okay I'm a complete noobie at this stuff. What does "flashing" mean? And one of the main reasons why I kept the stock rom is because I don't want to end up bricking my phone because I did something slightly wrong, also because I've rooted a windows phone before but the functions failed there after ... don't want to risk messing this new & expensive phone .

Flashing is the act of overwriting a ROM module in a device in order to upgrade it or change it.
Just like you reimage your windows system from XP to Windows 7
And like I am currently on Ice Cream Sandwich which is not even officially released
You have the links in my signature and if you follow the guidelines to the dot then it will be a peaceful process that will get over in max 10 mins Download Dr Ketan's guide from the Rooting link i have provided in my signature!
Rest everything depends on your comfortableness and choice!!

Try wiping battery stats/calibrating the battery (I assume you're rooted) and check battery use to see if any apps are probably drainig it in the background. A factory wipe and reflash would be a good idea too.

You can use the BetterBatteryStats app to see if any apps prevent the phone from sleeping or do other inefficient things.
Since I got the phone 1,5y ago I once or twice also had that the reported battery level was not in sync with the actual battery level. That was when I was draining the battery on purpose after wiping the battery stats and gaming on the phone while the LED flashlight was on It suddenly went from 40% to off.
well, i read all the time how nexus devices are unbrickable and maybe (hopefully) im wrong! so i been running stock rom rooted for a few days actually since yesterday i flashed back to stock and rooted only and flashed cwm recovery thats it. today (actually just a little while ago) i was messing around and was running antutu benchmark with stock then i flashed franco r53 kernel using his auto flash method in his app. no sooner that i started the test in antutu phone went completely black. will not respond to anything. so i said well maybe i can connect usb and get it to go into fastboot so i got lucky (or so i thought) soon as i plugged it in i saw red light at the bottom and battery charging icon. so i press power and volume down and was able to get into fastboot, i was kinda happy about this. i flashed back to stock wiped everything first wipe boot wipe cache wipe recovery wipe system flash bootloader reboot bootloader and flashed the system img and boot img and all that went thru succesfully. but it still will not boot it goes in and out red light battery icon google image. so i tried again flash stock images locked bootloader and fastboot reboot nothing i unplug usb goes straight black screen and wont respond. plug back in get red light and battery icon in and out back and forth between icon and black screen with red light. so i know allot of people get complacent in thinking that because you have a nexus you cannot brick but it is possible to brick this phone. or maybe someone can tell me im wrong. lol anyways just posting this here for people to think twice and not get so comfortable thinking you cannot brick a nexus. tommorow ill take the phone to t-mobile and get another one. and no i wont tell them it was my fault! If it's easy to take back do it. However couple of folks have got it fixed by opening the backplate and disconnecting/reconnecting battery terminals.
Almost 90%+ people having this issue were running Antutu.
Why would you think its a good idea to flash a custom kernel on to stock?
There are tons of threads about this, do some searching your phone is not bricked, also to the poster above me there is nothing wrong with flashing a custom kernel over stock.

Actually that is incorrect, it is not okay. Most Devs will post comparable kernels, or flash your own kernel on to this rom at your own risk on every rom thread op. Stock only supports its own kernel, so while some kernels might work as a stock replacement kernel, it is never a good idea to flash a custom kernel on to a stock rom unless the Dev says otherwise.
This for the help. I'll try this tomorrow morning. Of course I tab a search bit could not find the threads. I hit red light and it took me to legacy phone. I type brick in search fort n4 and nothing. So I never saw those threads about this issue. So thanks. And ive never had a problem with running custom kernels on stock ROM. Never! Lol
Any ways thanks for help! Can moderator close this thread please! Thanks!

Franco R53 is fine on stock - running it here with minimal other changes (I.e. root + email security policy hack)
I've updated every Franco kernel and all seen OK. Perhaps the benchmark related hardware failure is worth looking closely at.
FWIW, if you're back to stock, lock the bootloader and send it back as it sounds hardware to me.

:sigh: No. Franco says his kernel supports the stock ROM. In fact, stock is the standard to test a kernel on. Unless a ROM is created with very specific additions that rely on a custom ramdisk to function, there is nothing wrong with it. Even then, it's not really wrong, you'll just have some missing features.

This happened to me, except I was bone stock. You need to hold down all 3 buttons at the same time; several times, and then try to get into the bootloader. That's what worked for me. Once you're in the bootloader you can flash the stock image(s) via fastboot.

I've noticed my phone only charging at around 70mah when simply on the home screen (charges very fast when screen is off/sleep, 800+mah). I am using battery monitor widget to see the current draw. Using battery doctor, it tells me Maps is using 99% of the battery being consumed, even after testing it out playing Temple Run 2 for 20 minutes on max screen brightness. Is anyone else having this issue? Any known solutions? I even tried disabling GPS and latitude.

Go into settings/location and turn off GPS and location and search.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
I have tried that. But I would like to use my GPS as it has a lot of uses with applications. That still doesn't explain having such a high current draw enough to only charge at only 70mah even while in use. Any phone should be able to charge significantly faster than the battery drains (aside from USB charging). Something is putting a ton of unwanted load on while the phone is not sleeping. The phone sleeps VERY well in the sense of conserving power (-10mAh)
Can someone download battery doctor and see if Maps is also very high on their list? It could also be a false reading on the apps end. I'm looking at my phone right now on max brightness and it shows it's discharging at -304mAh, which is acceptable. I'm more concerned about the charging rate being horrible while the phone is awake. Something might be really making the processor do unnecessary work.
I have the same percentage for maps as well....

I use GSAM. I used to have issues with maps doing that, and forgot how I fixed it. I wish they would make Google maps not suck. So many freaking wakelocks.

It's kind of sad that they took "Screen" out of the list of power consuming things as that is truly the most common power consuming factor. I'm really not impressed with this release of Sense. I WANT MORE PANELS!! lol I went from 7 panels from the Evo 3D to 5 panels including blinkfeed which I don't use. Sooo lamee
Anyway, the phone is new so I'm sure there will be updates fixing a ton of issues since they kind of rushed the release after the initial delay. I'm betting a bunch of issues escaped unfixed because of that. Would anyone suggest a ROM to potentially fix my issue and improve everything as a whole?

That app is stock sense. Settings > power > usage. I would say definitely ROM it. More customization possibilities and it will only get better. The ROMs that are out now are completely stable and mildly tweaked compared to what they will be in a month or so. Also I had slow charging for my first few cycles and it seems to have gotten much better. At least on par with my wife's evo lte.

I'm leaning towards the Viper ROM. Any other suggestions or possibly better ROMs?
I believe everything gets wiped when the ROM is flashed, correct? I already have TWRP installed.
The generic answer is to try a few different ones and see what works best for you. For me, I'm using viper as my daily. But who knows what I'll be using tomorrow.... I'm a flashaholic. There's a superwipe posted in these forums that will wipe everything for you but in essence it formats system, data, cache, and dalvik. Any time you jump to a different ROM you will want to wipe everything. Keep in mind a factory reset is not the same thing as a full wipe as it does not wipe system files.

So every time you flash another ROM, what do you do to recover all your data, apps, game progress, etc.
I just made a backup of everything with my stock ROM using TWRP.
Personally I use titanium backup.... But it can cause issues as can any app that transfers data between ROMs. you can actually import data from your nandroid by using titanium.... Or just restore the data partition from your nandroid from within twrp. No matter what you may run into issues and if that's the case just start over for the best results.
I apologize ahead of time if this makes no sense.... Exhaustion at work is setting in.

I have flashed a lot of ROMs and do a clean install (wiped data, cache and dalvik cache), but again without success.
reflash the rom maybe something was wrong with the battery data in your ROM ?

I don´t know what to do anymore
I have tried everything that I think was possible, again without success.
Maybe a problem inside the battery...
I am desperate...thinking to buy a chinese battery to test...
Any suggestions?
just a suggestion, try draining the battery first, turn the brightness to the max, until it shutdown automatically. then charge it to the fullest while its off or maybe leave it for a couple of hours. hope that helps
Faulty battery I'm guessing if all ROMs have same result. Don't buy cheap Chinese batteries though, get an original or trusted replacement like mugen/anker

Why not just buy a good original battery since you would probbaly need one later anyway
