DashClock on the One? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, i was just wondering if there is something on the hardware side of the One that doesnt allow me to install DashClock. I tried downloading it from the Play Store but it says my device is incompatible? Is it hardware, or is it because i have an international version.

I'm running Android Revolution HD, which is basically HTC's stock 4.2.2, with Sense of course, and I'm having the same issue. I honestly think it's the Sense lockscreen that's the problem. In order to install Dashclock, you have to add it as a widget to one of your lockscreens. The problem is Sense only gives you the main lockscreen, no widgets, scrolling, etc.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm trying to get DashClock running on Sense roms now that we have 4.2.2 available on them. Tried it on an AOSP ROM (Slim Bean) and was very impressed.
Right now, TrickDroid 7.0.0 has android 4.2.2 and comes with an AOSP lockscreen option, but that lockscreen does not support widgets. While you cannot get DashClock from the Play Store, you can install Dashclock via APK and it works (in a reduced capacity) on the home screen.
As for getting DashClock on the lockscreen, right now I'm using WidgetLocker Lockscreen (paid app), but it's running in a reduced capacity there too. Looking into changing the lock screen to one that fully works, don't know how deep this rabbit hole goes, but I am a developer (not for Android, though .. yet) so I'll see what I can come up with.

If you want to play with it too, here is the APK.

I heard that if you rename htclockscreen.apk to something else, and you use apex or nova launcher, you will have stock android lockscreen, with all widgets you want

In TrickDroid 7.0.0 at least, you get the stock android lockscreen, but without any widget functionality. I'm thinking this could be related to settings in android.policy.jar

Nope. Just an empty lock screen

Yes i've installed the same Rom and have been trying to look for a solution to the problem :S

I'm on OrDroid 7.3.2 - 4.2.2 and I can use DashClock widget without problem with all extensions as you can see with this screenshot.
Classic install => download from Google Play and installed correctly
I don't use some other launcher, just stock launcher
I use DashClock on my N7 3G too

Go Settings > Personalize > Lockscreen > (scroll to end) Widgets (Settings -> Choose DashClock) > Apply.

I've been trying to get the DashClock to work on my phone, but I can't find the Widget in the lockscreen options. I am using SentinelROM and running 4.2.2

Got it working on the htc one ... but now have two clocks on the lockscreen .... any ideas on how to get rid of one ?

Same Issue
I'm running Android Revolution 12.2 on HTC One and I'm also getting the two clocks issue. I used Personalize->Lockscreen->Widgets->Dashclock to set it up, but cannot remove the original lock screen clock. I switched the dashclock time for a small analog clock and it looks better but that huge clock at the bottom takes up too much space. Any ideas?

I'll just leave this here.

Implementing new lockscreen

I know many people here have reported lag associated with the stock lockscreen that comes with the device. I was curious to know that if anyone has tried a new lockscreen and seen better results? Such as installing a vanilla AOSP lockscreen in place of the blur one and see if it makes any difference?
I dont know if the lockscreen is an actual .apk you can change out easily or not, as i have not poked around myself, but i do know that when i owned my incredible many people were switching out there sense lockscreens for vanilla ones and it didnt seem like a big deal
+1 for this question / desire. I too would like to switch out the lockscreen (and indeed some other APKs/items) for "stock" if possible...
Well, I'll tell you this. I use ADW launcher and have not noticed any lag at the lock screen. I've also seen others using custom launchers that also have said they notice no lag.
I've used adw and launcher pro and still have lag on the lock screen on 2.2
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Go look up Widget Locker. It's a sexy lockscreen widget that removes lag COMPLETELY (it actually disables the android lockscreen and you use it instead. Works fansmic, allows tons of widgets on it, including shortcuts to your favorite apps fast, and security locks.
$1.99 in market - search widget locker.
The only thing with Widget Locker -- in my experience -- is that turning on the phone sometimes shows the default lockscreen for a second before fading into widget locker.
Does the home button bypass widget locker?

No lag using flyscreen either.

If you disable screen lock in Location & Security in the settings, you don't get that issue anymore.
I had the same gripe about it until I found that option to uncheck.

I didn't find the option to disable screen lock, but I turned it off using extended controls widget, which should have the same effect. Either way, thanks for the tip!
Not that this has anything to do with your op but htc does not make the droidx as per your signature. Thought you might want to know.

I don't have this option, but I downloaded "No Lock" from the marketplace and it works great with Flyscreen. (I'm using the Froyo leak posted recently)

Launcher and stock clock

Is there any way with Launcher Pro or ADW to get the stock clock from 2.1 that has the location and date on it? The one I like is the one that turns from black to white for night and day and has the date in the middle and location on the bottom.
I know, it's silly, but I've gotten used to the clocks that come with the Slide and I want to use them on my Launchers.
Thanks!
I am interested in the stock clock as well, but only to get the stop watch and count down clock back (I know their are downloadable ones too). I thought I remember someone posting the apks for the stock clock a while back...
I mean, I really like LauncherPro and ADW but I've gotten SO used to that clock and if it's sitting in the stock ROM I don't get why I can't get to it via the launchers? I thought there would be a clear way to do this or that I'd at least have the same options of apps and widgets as I did on the Stock OS.
Are you using a custom ROM? If so, those ROMs ultimately control what comes on the phone.
No, I'm just using the stock ROM. I haven't done anything to my phone. I simply don't see the same set of widgets as on the stock OS.
I guess it's my lack of knowledge then as to what the add-on launchers do to your phone...
No, I don't think it's you, I just think something coded into their software impedes access to Stock Widgets on MyTouch Slides.
Not sure if what you guys are talking about is the fact that HTC sense widgets can only be used with the sense launcher. That would be why if you install a alternate launcher all of the sense widgets such as the clocks are not there. There are some sense knockoff clocks and widgets on the market that can be used with other launchers. It is kinda like you cant use live wallpapers with sense launcher but if you install a alternate you can.
I think you just solved my problem. That makes perfect sense.
No I just gotta find a knock off of that day-night one with the date embedded into it.
Thanks

[Q] Finally have ICS. How do I make this look like ICS?

First, I replaced the launcher. Apex Launcher is based on the stock ICS Launcher and looks great, but getting it to work with the weather and clock widgets seems to be crappy. These widgets know how to change layout based on size, and it seems like Apex is failing to notify them of the size change. Anyone know how to get those widgets to use a layout other than the long, thin stripe when using Apex?
Second, I'm wondering if I should replace the camera / gallery apps. Is there a significant advantage to the standard ICS apps? I'm hoping there's some reason Samsung gave us the old Gallery app, but anyone know what it is? Is the stock ICS gallery available to install?
I think if u just wait for a while. Some one will release a "Custom" Rom with re-design. Even though it will be stock with a layer on top of it, it will be all u need.

I'm not really interested in a custom ROM. Trying to stick with the stock roms as much as I can. That doesn't mean I won't install some better apps.
use Quickpic for gallery; significantly better than stock gallery, regardless of OS version!
As for weather widget, here's something to try:
Go to Apex Settings, Advanced settings, then uncheck "resize any widget"
see if the switch to conventional ICS resizing will change the Accuweather widget behaviour...
No guarantee but give it a go!

Yep should have added "watch this thread" to follow for ICS note version when done as ICS only out this week and no one will have it themed yet.
Personally I had a S2 and tried most themes and allways went back to stock plus a ICS look launcher, follow the S2 themes and you will see all themes don't get things right 100% grey txt on black background and then there was CM 9 etc with custom apps themed and you loose some of the original functionality.
Or follow checkrom.com for a ICS vers coming shortly???

[APP][SENSE 3.6/4/4A/4.5][2012/9/14 1.41]HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider

This is my second Android app. I develop this little app because I prefer 3rd party launcher (e.g. Apex) than existing Sense 4 Rosie. Existing hacked Sense 4 Rosie (full version) currently doesn't support non Sense widget correctly and is less feature-rich than many other launchers.
Even if you install a 3rd party launcher, Rosie still consume your precious memory as a system service. But if you freeze Rosie and thus release it from memory, you'll lose your lockscreen app shortcuts. After painstakingly reviewing the codes in HTC shortcut components, I found that Rosie actually act as a content provider to supply information of its launcher bar shortcuts to lockscreen. So without Rosie, lockscreen has no information to construct its shortcuts. Therefore I wrote this little app to replace the role of Rosie as the content provider. What's more, it allows you to select your own apps with a simple config screen and store the data separately. And it doesn't stay in the memory permanently.
Installation instructions:
Uninstall Rosie (Freezing doesn't work because Android doesn't allow two content providers of same type) ** You're reminded to make a backup first **
Install HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider
Run Lockscreen Shortcuts
Select your app for the 4 shortcuts
Hit back to save settings and notify HTC lockscreen

Limitations
You have to reboot the phone to allow lockscreen to load your app shortcuts. I'm still trying to figure out the way to notify HTC lockscreen for any changes. (If you know anything about this please PM me)

Just use Titanium Backup to backup and uninstall Rosie. You can also delete the Rosie.apk in the /system/app/ folder in Recovery by brute force.
Many thanks for that. I haven't got titanium. I might go hard and fast. Just go into the app folder and delete. I've got a full backup, so if worst happens I just restore.

I'm having problems loading your program. Being a zip I guess you load it through recovery but I get an error every time I try.
Edit
I just reloaded and then hit view (I've never seen that option before) and it's there! Now to try it.

I don't understand your problem. My app is a standard Android APK file which can be sideloaded with any file manager. You should not flash it through recovery.
Sorry. It must be the way it down loaded. 2nd time round it installed without a problem. It works great.
I've had a bit of a play and the unlock options are there. I'm not sure I gained as much free memory as I hoped but any gain is better than none. And I really am not a fan of Sense so any chance to thin it out is good.

LOL, never mind. At least I know the problem is consistent in Sense 4A. I'll work on that. :good:
Today I did some testing on various Sense versions and would like to let you know my findings:
Hybrid 4A (e.g. UKB X on IncS) - OK
Sense 4.1 (e.g. ViperX on One X) - OK
Sense 4A (e.g. UKB V on IncS) - No shortcuts in lockscreen
Sense 3.6 (e.g. ARHD on IncS) - Lockscreen shortcuts appears and update correctly but shortcut app cannot be launched when unlock
At this moment, my first priority is to support Sense 3.6. After that I'll work on 4A.
Just posted 1.2. Now supports Sense 3.6.
Posted 1.2.1. Fixed FC introduced in 1.2.

[Q] Anything out there similar to Dashclock widget

So, I am getting super super annoyed with sprint and this no 4.2.2 nonsense. I really want something like the Dashclock Widget but running on 4.1.2 for the time being. I don't want to update to AOSP yet until some of the GE fixes get pushed to the sprint variant.
Anyone know of a similar Widget?
NiLS Notifications Lock Screen

WidgetLocker Lockscreen

Try that and see if that is what you are looking for. Sadly, I believe to gain functionality you'll have also install the WidgetLocker because you can't add widgets to the stock lock screen; hence, the needing of 4.2.
