Hi,
I've an i9300 - it had the freezing problems which I seemed to fix with the dummy file generator. Then it froze again - I got a SYSTEM RESET message and then couldn't get the phone to recognize the sim.
I tried system reset and clear the cache and still the same problem. I tried to update the software and Keis wouldn't recognize the phone.
Tried to update with odin and it froze.
Now I can't get it to do anything other than go into download mode. It won't accept a firmware via odin (get a FAIL)
I have an EFS back up and a clockworkmod back up but I don't know how to restore them as I can't get the phone to power up. All it says is Firmware upgrade encountered an issue etc...
Any pointers would help
Boot in to ClockWorkMod by holding on Volume Up + Home buttons, then press Power button.
Look for Back/Restore option in the ClockWorkMod menu to restore to earlier copy of ClockWorkMod backup.
After that, reboot your I9305 phone and you should be able back to earlier working condition.

You can always go back to stock, re-root, install CWM, and try restoring again if you are still having trouble. Use Odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Ok, I also rooted and installed eSPyel's Paragon ROM and everything is great. However, when I go into CWM and boot into recovery, I get the same issue--it goes to the Samsung Recover <e3> screen (with purple text) and tries installing something but states it failed. I then can move up and down the menus with the Vol Up/Vol Dn buttons but pressing power does nothing. If I remove and then reinsert the battery, it takes me to CWM recovery screen where I can install new ROMs, etc. It goes this every time I try to boot into recovery. Does anyone know a fix or do I just need to Odin back to stock and try again?
my phone has been frozen at the samsung i9000 screen ever since opening this app.... i am very new to this do not understand most concepts here.. ie. flashing a rom. If anyone can help me get my phone out of this state or has any suggestions on how i should fix this please comment.
if you can get into recovery mode try flasing another rom via cwm or flash it using odin and download mode (flashing non wipe roms via cwm might leave your apps and data intact)
What is the full name of the app? How did you try using it? Do you know what firmware version your phone is on?
First thing to try is turn off, remove battery sim and any microSD. leave five minutes and put all back in and turn on.

the app is galaxy s tweaks or something very simalar (black and white logo) the two options i was given in the app were "YES-BREAAAAK my phone" and "NO- Im not crazy" i selected no and then my phone just reset and wouldnt turn on again ive tried everything i can do without hooking up to a comp ( as far as i know) but thx for the advice
Where did you get this from? It does not seem to be in the market.
OK just found it. Have a read off all the comments. Not good.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/gst-(galaxy-s-tweaker)/com.pommedeterresautee.lagfix
You could try restart holding Home Vol up and Power button then choose Clear cache and Factory reset.
or
Try restart the phone holding home Vol down and press power button to get into recovery mode. then plug in and open Kies go to tools and firmware recovery.

Is telling me i need recovery code, I have never received one.
Just read this so it may work for you.
disconnect the phone from USB, pull the battery, replace it, boot into recovery mode and reconnect the phone. Go back to Kies and tools firmware recovery.
In other words repeat what you have done :-s
Original post on Android Forums.
The message indicated that I would need a recovery code that could be obtained later by clicking Tools | Firmware Emergency Recovery Menu.
I was then instructed to disconnect the phone, pull the battery, boot into recovery mode and reconnect the phone which I did. The phone would not reconnect. At this point I called Samsung tech support and wasn't impressed when I was simply told to repeat the procedure. But to my surprise, the upgrade was successful the second time around. Go figure! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else ran into the recovery code message.

Hello,
After rooting my p880, my phone hangs at boot. Just after the boot sound (*pling* ) the phone is hanging. The boot image is still moving.
Things I tried already:
I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723, which tells to do a kdz update. This is not working, as I am not able to get to the S/W upgrade screen. Instead, when I start the phone using the power button + volume down, i get the Android system recovery menu (3e).
I tried to upload a new (cyanogenmod) rom using adb sideload, but that didn't work, as the file I used was damaged (I will retry with new file).
I also did a factory reset and a cache wipe.
Can someone tell me what is best to do?
Kind regards
X-cal

Hi there.
- My phone was with rooted .207 with dual philz and twrp installed, booloader unlocked, everything is working fine.
- Yesterday, after backing up the system with philz recovery, I flashed my phone .266 using flash tool. and it works fine. Recovery & root was gone.
- Today I installed dual philz & twrp recovery using the file found in this link http://techglen.com/2014/07/07/install-dual-cwm-twrp-recovery-on-xperia-sp-205-firmware/. After that I can boot to recovery.
- I mounted /storage/sdcard1 (where I stored my backup). I tried the backup I made earlier (the one with .207 number) but it didn't work, saying there's some checksum mismatch. I tried 2 other backups found in the same folder, 1 also said mismatch, 1 doesn't complain about checksum but failed after trying to restore /system
- Because of that error, I go into mount options, unmount /system, but the backup still failed
- At this point I didn't know what to do, so I thought I would try to boot into twrp and give it a shot. At the reboot menu, there's only option I can choose with it to reboot with "su" at some path, I pressed okay.
- Now the phone won't boot up <--- problem here
About the state of the phone now & things I tried:
- Phone won't boot up with power button
- Phone won't charge when plugging into power source - LED won't light up
- Tried pressing & holding Power + Volume down for a few times and then press the power button, doesn't change anything
- Tried connecting to my computer using usb, but it won't get recognized by the computer/software
- Tried pressing & holding OFF button on the back of the phone for some times, doesn't seem to have any effect.
Now I'm just plugging my phone in, hoping it would get charged some how.
Can somebody help me with troubleshooting my phone? Thanks so much.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Last thing I tried was to go into flashmode and fortunately it still works. I flashed a new ftf file using flashtool and everything works again.

This message I get when I try to power up my Note 9 N960F/DS.
I got it this way: Been running the same ROM for 2 years. Time to upgrade. Upgraded TWRP via the app. After downloading the ROM image to SD card, I tapped an app called Reboot, with the Recovery option. I suspect this app is from some old installation, and ended up on this unit via data restore. Now all I get is this message on a black screen. No logo, nothing. Message flashes once. If I plug into PC, message flashes repeatedly. Cannot boot to recovery using Vol-+Pwr, Vol++Pwr ineffective.
I suspect I bricked the phone, but I seem to remember once breaking out of this 2 years back, I think. Any ideas, clues, anything?
Try this, power off phone. Press volume up and bixby button and while pressing buttons insert data cable, phone should go to downlaod mode. OPen odin and flash stock firmware.
OK, tried it, display showed the same message until I released the buttons, then flashed the message every 4 seconds until disconnected.
OK, got it into download mode, reflashed twrp, now it's in a boot loop. Will continue working this.
It took a few tries, but I not only got everything working, I restored my data backup and upgraded to Android 10. Thanks all!
