Do it like my guide says...I had no data issues with any of the i9505 roms.
So this means we can flash other carriers, i9500, or i9505 roms as long as we reset the apns and keep a stock kernel?
This is a pretty sick development, glad it made it over to us on the sprint side

and what about all this loki shiz? Verizon and at&t need loki incorporated someway cuz of their bootloader, but what if a sprint user wanted to flash a Verizon or at&t rom, that is "loki'd". What does that mean for us

Use sprints kernel only, it is not loki'ed, so you are good, easy sir.The kernels are the only thing loki'ed not the roms.

Hi everyone,
I have an XT860 from Bell Canada. I would like to mod it. Can someone tell me if it's a Droid 3 or Droid 2?
Also, what are the latest versions of Android available for these devices? The one installed now is 2.3.6 and I would very much like to jump to a Jelly Bean.
I appreciate some input before I waste too much trying to mod this.
Thanks
Droid 3. You're in the right section. Each ROM has an 860 patch but the problem is that the development on JellyBean has kind of stalled since the camera isn't working.

MrObvious, thanks a lot for the feedback.
1- What is an "860" patch?
2- What is the latest stable version of Android for my device? Not looking for Jelly Bean if camera doesn't work.
3- Where can I find instructions and latest ROMs for my device? ***I don't want to mess up the radio frequencies as it's a Canadian phone***
Thanks again.
Basically it just patches a few files and the build.prop so that it works with the 860 as all our ROMs are built for the 862 which is the Verizon CDMA version. Just flash a ROM and look for a patch. Minimoto is a good one because it has stability and Endroid made a patch that works.

Thanks again. So, where is the official mod thread? From what you said, I first mod it and then apply the Minimoto patch for 860. Did I get that right or is there a ROM specific to 860 that I should do?
The phone is unlocked and rooted but I don't think I have the framework to install ROMs so I probably need to read the official modding thread.
Thanks

I will go with Minimoto first and then try other MODs. There are many threads on Minimoto. I wonder why there is no sticky "Droid 3 ROMs & Instructions"
So far I learned that I have to install (somehow) SafeStrap and then MiniMoto ROM. Am I getting that correct? Is there a comprehensive guide to this specific to XT860?
Thanks

Thanks. I have installed Minimoto and here are some of the problems I am facing if there are any work-arounds for them?
1- I have been only seeing 3G and Edge for internet connection. On stock I can see H+ as well.
2- From time to time the phone doesn't have any internet connection and it has to be restarted to get internet connection - that is a big annoyance.
Any feedback?
Thanks again.

1)these are just cosmetic, you can have it show the h+ through build.prop edits
2)try adding the line ro.ril.hep=0 to the build.prop, it should help, and try just toggling airplane mode to reset the connection, easier than rebooting

I'm not really sure if qpst works with this phone for prl's as i tend to do any modifications on the device itself and haven't used that program in a few years. As for the ##778#, in order for it to work you need a modified build.prop to do it. It's a simple mod but you need root access to do so. Currently i'm running viper and have my phone on a sprint corporate 56013 prl.

Does that PRL do 3g roaming?
TIA.
You have to be rooted I believe, but can still be on stock rom. Omjs mod pack has the updated epst stuff, I had asked him for it. Then you can do the prl updates on phone.

I was hoping not to have to dev unlock it just yet in case I change my mind about the phone.
yeah, 56013 is a corporate prl so it allows for roaming on verizon 3g network. i rarely ever see 1x on my phone unless i'm waaay out in the boonies.
If there becomes a way to root outside htcdev unlock, you could temp root and then make the adjustment in the build prop so ##778# responds. Until then, htcdev unlock is the only way to get root at the moment.

Have a look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/mod-apn-tweak-t2685227
There are a couple of different options you can try to add/change APNs. One important thing many people leave off is to set the 'APN Type' e.g.: default.
See if that guide is able to help you add your APN.

A few pieces of advice: create the file in your sdcard, not in system/bin. Name the file hiddenmenu. Then move it to system/bin. At the top of the OP, there's a link to Xdabbeb's thread. Go there and copy the commands exactly as he has them. Otherwise, should be good.
