[FIX][GT-I9001] Most common fixes for Samsung Galaxy S Plus - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Since our devices development keeps growing and growing the amount of questions about simple fixes is raising. I've made this "collected solution" thread to prevent these questions and to link all the new and senior users to here.

-- Yes: there is one. You can read it below in the "SHOW"
Apparently there is one safe and working way to un-brick the GT-I9001. This procedure has been tested on a soft-bricked device with a stock unbranded ROM.
Download the WORKED2.rar package (mirror 1, mirror 2);
Download Odin Multi Downloader version 4.43;
After expanding the WORKED2.rar archive, press the OPS button and select the AriesVE.ops file from the uncompressed archive;
Mark the One Package option, press the One Package button on the bottom of the window and select the recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.0-ariesve.tar.md5 file;
Put your device in Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power and plug it to your PC;
Make sure to have installed the correct drivers and the phone should be recognised by Odin (the top left rectangle becomes yellow) and press the Start button.
This process could take from 8 to 30 minutes to finish, with an average time of 15 minutes. After that you should have your device back with the same settings, applications and files you had before the brick. Moreover you should have installed a working version of the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Using an Odin ROM to fix your device:
If your device is still not working correctly after the steps described above. You should try to install a stock ROM and do a factory reset.

- I've got no mobile data connection after a flash?
-- For this problem you can do several things:
Go into airplain mode for 15 minutes and turn it off again. Give it a shot now
Reboot your phone
Go to google > your carrier + APN data and put them in manually
- When I want to flash a Stock ROM via Odin it gets stuck at System.img.ext4
-- For this solution I recommend you to flash this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396837
( Le reason: It contains all the partitions requiered by our phone and resets them after a factory reset via the provided recovery you are able to flash any stock ROM you want)

Volume DOWN+HOME+POWER will take you to download mode
- Where can i find the fabulous GT-I9001 wiki?
-- Well here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001
- Why cant i flash this or that ROM, i get blablabla status error etc?
-- Most of these issues are recovery related. To flash CM9 and CM10 ROMS use either CWM or TWRP (The most stable are being found in the CM threads itself just take a look)
Will add more soon.. But I think these are the most common at the moment.

only one thing to say... the recovery combo is volume up+power, without home , if you press home button you will get the useless ramdump mode

Le changed

Just be sure not to think system is stuck. BroodROM RC5 took me 4hour to flash the last time my phone soft bricked.
PS. Can you add a link to the wiki? And a photo of soft brick (in wiki)

Added wiki link, picture of softbricked and more

it seems that I bricked my galaxy s plus when I tried to flash Cynagenmode via TWRP.
I have read tons of articles and threads before posting this. The phone turns on but keeps showing TEAMWIN logo (bootloop). I can not boot into recovery mode which is done by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power. (I've tied many keyboard combination but still no access to recovery mode instead the phone boots).
However, I am able to get into download mode (Volume Down + Power + Home) but when I connect the phone to pc for ODIN purpose, my pc or Odin won't recognize it. I have tried to uninstall and re-install all drivers again and again. Tried on different PC, Odin version and even different cables.
However, When I turn on the phone it keeps bootlooping but when I connect to pc, there is that "beep" sounds that says connected, BUT IT LASTS only 3-5 seconds.
Since I cannt get into recovery mode, I must connect to PC via ODIn, right? So I did it, but every time when I plug it, it keeps saying that USB Device Is not Recognized. I ve tried in many PCs, still no access.
Forgot to mention that I ve tried to unplug the battery while the phone is in download mode and is plugged to PC or ODIN, but it does not work too.
I ve removed the battery for 10-15 minutes and then again plug it but still no hope.

Is my Galaxy Note Bricked?

Ok here is what happened.
- I rooted my galaxy note successfully.
- Installed CWM through the steps described in this forum
- Installed Titanium Backup
- Restored CWM 5.0.0.2 APP with data through Titanium backup (which was from a LG Optimus 2X)
- Pressed Restart into Recovery Mode (Note: I did not FLASH the Clockworkmod Recovery, i simply pressed RESTART INTO RECOVERY)
- Phone asked for super user permission, i gave it
- Phone restarts, is stuck in a black screen with the botton 2 buttons lighting up
- Was stuck there for 5 Min so i took out the battery
- Now phone will not power on... with or without wall charger plugged in.
Is my phone bricked? Is there any way to fix it?
Many thanks.
What about download mode? Can u get in?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA

are you saying you restored from a non note backup image?
take the battery out wait 30 minutes and see if you can get into download mode
Could be probable that your bootloader is replaced, so yeah the chances are that you have soft bricked your phone and yeah there are definitely ways to restore it, so don't worry.
But see if your download mode works. press volume down+home+power all at a time.
i took the battery out for 30 minutes. Put it back in.
tried to activate download mode, there is no response.
normal power on wouldn't work either... sigh

Do you have a usb jig?
no i don't. should i go find one of those phone fixing shops? they usually would have something like this right?
I did some research on the USB Jig, is it sure to put the phone in download mode for a soft brick?
if so, i can just buy one off ebay or something.

Yes... i think you flashed another bootloader which does not support the three button combo. but download mode should still exist. The USB Jig will bring the phone to boot to download mode. It should work... if not, then you have a real bricked note
Try this:
- download and install KIES
- download and install Android SDK
- download and install Odin3
- open CMD (in Windows --> Start and type cmd)
- open Odin3
- remove battery in phone
- connect phone to pc via USB
- reinsert the battery in phone
- type in cmd:
Code:
adb reboot download
- looking for "added" in Odin3 (and Com Port)
- flash a stock rom for the SGN (better 3 parts and with *.pit)
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work. I guess i'll try the USB Jig tomorrow at a phone fixing place and if that doesn't work i'm not sure what i can do
Can you atleast access recovery mode by pressing volume up, home and power button?
..
I cannot access the recovery/download mode by using those button combo. The phone is totally non-responsive. Screen remains blank and buttons do not light up.
did you ever solve this issue?
so what happened... any update?

6. Hit the ap or PDA button in odin.
7. Select the recovery tar.
8. Untick auto reboot in odin
9. Hit start
10. Now force reboot by holding power, home, volume up and volume down buttons at the same time till it reboots.
11. Power device off again.

Follow these instructions to the letter. Do not touch any buttons or checkboxes that are not listed below to touch!
- Download and unzip the CF-Auto-Root-....zip file (see posts below this one)
- If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you've extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file - don't extract that one
- (USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
- Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
- Click the PDA (AP in odin v3.x) button, and select CF-Auto-Root-....tar.md5
- Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
- (USB) Connect the phone to your computer
- Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
- Click the Start button
- Wait for Android to boot
- Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you need practise!)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install root and such, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, manually shutdown your device and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.
New to Samsung? Unfamiliar with Odin? Think all the above is a hassle? Get used to it. It's very simple, and us Samsung folk use Odin (or Mobile ODIN ) for everything! It's so very very convenient once you get used to it. Notice the 30 second comment above? For experienced users, the entire process indeed takes only 30 seconds!
Flashing with Odin
1. Put your phone into download mode. To do this turn the phone off and then press volume down+home button+power button at the same time. You will then get a warning saying press up to continue and down to cancel, press volume up and you are now in download mode
2. Start Odin
3.At this point please make sure that ONLY TWO OPTIONS TICKED are "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" (otherwise you could end up with a very expensive paperweight)

4. If there was only one tar file when you extracted the firmware put it in the PDA section. This just means this file contains the PDA+PHONE+CSC all in one firmware
If there are three files they should have one of PDA/PHONE/CSC in their names look for this and put them in the corresponding section.
5. Plug your device into the computer, wait for the drivers to install and then wait for the ID:COM section to turn blue.
6.ONCE AGAIN CHECK YOU HAVE NOT TICKED RE-PARTITION OR PUT IN A PIT FILE
7.Press start and the flash will begin, once this has started do not remove the usb cable or turn of your computer or the device the phone will reboot once the flash has finished.

L.E. 2 : I've wiped data/cache a few times and re-downloading the TWRP tar file, and now it is working. Thank you!

I'm sure one of the things new users will find confusing is the precise button combination needed to trigger each of the different boot states, download, recovery and normal modes. Pressing volume up will lead to a boot state different from pressing volume down, since the two buttons are externally the same (the volume rocker). Maybe you can highlight or emphasize the UP or DOWN since it's easy to overlook.

Maybe a little confusing for t700/705 users as their volume button is the opposite I believe.
I think your instructions were clear enough. The user of the device should at least know which is up and which is down tbh. No need to spoon feed imo.
Actually, if you install TWRP from odin, you don't even need to download the supersu separately. First, download twrp package for your device. Install it with odin. From my experience, you don't need to disable the auto-reboot option in odin this time (but you need that when you're installing full ROMs and want to keep the custom firmware).
Shutdown.
Boot into recovery, by pressing volume up, power, and home buttons.
Confirm that TWRP recovery is installed.
Now reboot. At the moment you try to reboot, the custom recovery will offer you to install SuperSU. Go ahead and accept it.
Now reboot, go into google play and update your SuperSU.
One nice side effect of installing TWRP this way is that you may want to keep TWRP without having root. TWRT is useful as a recovery for backups etc, but there are some apps, like AT&T Uverse, that will actually break if you have root.

Reboot to recovery and wipe data.
Remember your recovery is stock after odin and it will erase int storage data too.
And please don't use development section for this purpose

Press power +Vol down. Once you see blank screen, immediately press Vol up +home +power and see if it goes to recovery.
Also after flashing with cache with odin you need to wait 5min to boot

No sir, its not going into recovery mode, always stuck at boot logo.
Thank you
Two options left to try that I can suggest
1.extract cache. Img from tar repack it to tar and flash using cache tab of Odin
2.flash rom + including pit file.
If you search and get pac firmwares then it's best as this will have all separate file +pit
If that fail then possibility faulty battery but n5 we can't do else with non removable battery

I can try removing battery out, I have removed few batteries before in note5 and galaxy s6, s6e+, though, its a headache to remove those, also I was wondering whether anything else is left to try, like DRK etc.?
This is all the files that I have been trying so far as per thread
Try kies
You should have serial number of your device handy then try that.
Open kies - Tool - there will be restore or something option. Just select and follow wizard
Try this:
- get into download mode.
- flash stock rom with odin(uncheck autoreboot)
- after flashing is done, phone should be still in dowload mode. (unplug usb cable)
- press and HOLD (vol dwn and pwr) for like 5 sec. ***as soon as the phone's screen turns black, immediately press and hold (vol up, home, pwr) and HOLD it for a LONG time untill you see little andy/or recovery mode. (remember to keep holding even if you see any error message)
- in recovery mode, wipe data-factory reset.
- reboot and wait for your phone to bootup. will take a while.
*to get out of any frozen screen - press and hold (vol dwn, vol up, home, pwr) all together for 5~10 seconds.
Pay particular attention to the "immediately" instruction!

Did anyone find a fix I'm in need of Help I have a similar issue flashed NobelKernel build3 then made a mistake a flashed xposed 1rm64 bootloop wont stop tried to flash back to stock in Odin ( Odin doesent response when I choose n920TUVUA1AOGE file it only responds when I choose Nobelkernel build 2 or 3 what am I doing wrong how can I just go back to stock with a functioning phone
None of you have reported you are wiping the device. The first thing you need to do is establish if you can or cannot get into recovery properly. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to get into recovery because what you have flashed does not touch the recovery partition whatsoever.

[Q] Stuck in bootloop after trying to install a custom ROM, unable to detect the device through ADB/Fastboot [Solved]

Title says it all. But for those that want to know a bit more in detail about what's going on, I tried to install this custom ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-oneui-2-5-twrp-ncx-2-5-for-a71-sm-a715f.4174135/ Clearly I did something wrong (a bit more clarification in that guide would help people not used to rooting an Android device getting through that process easier), so now I want to go to square 1 by installing the stock ROM again. But the thing is, after installing multidisabler through TWRP, the phone is not permanently stuck into a bootloop and now I can't even go into safemode, nor download mode, and I can't enter the recovery mode, the only thing my phone is capable of doing is to restart by itself by holding the volume down and the power buttons at the same time, and now ADB nor Fastboot can't detect my device (the PC does a Samsung device being connected though, so it's not a hardbrick, I guess).
Samsung devices do not use Fastboot. You should restore through Odin instead.
Try the following:
1. Download Odin on your computer, you can get it from here. Extract it into a folder.
2. Download the firmware for your device. Find out your device model first and then look on http://samfw.com, I've downloaded from there a lot in the past, it works great.
3. Extract the firmware, you should get five files: AP, BL, CP, CSC, and HOME_CSC.
4. Make sure your device is powered off, and press power + volume down + bixby. You should be asked to confirm you want to enter download mode, press the volume up button.
5. Plug your device into the computer, then select the files for all the slots. Use CSC, not HOME_CSC for CSC (CSC is for fresh restore, HOME_CSC is for software update).
6. A device should show in the top bar, something like [COM:6]. This means your device is connected. If it isn't there, make sure your device is plugged in and in Download Mode.
7. Click flash. The firmware should start to flash and there should be a progress bar in Download Mode. Once it's finished your device should reboot into the system.

Well, trying to reflash everything through Odin has been a thing I tried to do, but how am I supposed to shutdown a phone that is stuck at the Samsung logo (is there any combination to shutdown a Samsung during the boot process?)? And even after that, how am I supposed to press "power + volume down + bixby" if both the power and bixby buttons are the same buttons?

I tried entering Download Mode hours ago, but to no avail. Even before flashing mutidisabler through TWRP (and thus, the phone was working), I had to use ADB in order to make my phone be able to enter Recovery Mode, since the combo for recovery and download mode just made my phone make a loud noise and restart my phone onto safe mode.
Ok, here's an update, apparently pressing those buttons, makes the screen have the same, but at least Odin recognizes the drive, but now I'm stuck at this error: "Complete(Write) operation failed."
Something's weird here, I'm 99.9% sure I did activate USB debugging for this phone, although that was just before wiping the entire drive before the phone got stuck in this loop.
Fixed. Many thanks to @hainguyenthao for helping me out ^^

I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble installing the ROM and I'm glad you were able to fix it.
I unfortunately can't see a way that I could make the tutorial on how to install the ROM any easier. I'm almost certain I covered all my bases going over the perquisites and how to install the ROM. I also have a Telegram group in that thread so that users can join if they are ever stuck in any of the steps so that either me or other users that have successfully installed the ROM can help people in doubt since I'm not available 100% of the time. If you ever decide to give it a try again, don't be shy, you can always join the group and request for help.

Samsung Galaxy M31s stuck on Download mode boot loop

Hey, everybody!!
I seem to have incurred an issue while I was manually trying to install an OTA update in my Samsung Galaxy M31s through the ODIN Mode with the help of this video...
After I successfully followed all the steps in the video... after the last step when ODIN showed in pass in bright green colour. So it did in mine.
My phone rebooted as predicted in that video, only to get stuck in the endless Download/Odin Mode. Now, whatever I do, including pressing the Volume Down + Side key (for 7 seconds) while it's connected/disconnected to/from the PC... it keeps booting into the Download mode... I also tried pressing the Volume Up + Volume Down + Side Key(altogether), yet it keeps booting into the Download mode...!! Can you please suggest me a fix for this ASAP, 'cause I'm scared AF for my phone right now, and the data it stores. PLEASE HELP!! And...
Thank You(in advance)!!

It's some vbmeta issue...
Try going back to download mode or recovery and flashing null vbmeta.img... and then your patched firmware again...
-> For booting again to recovery mode:
▪︎ Press vol_up + power key [for few secs](it will force restart your phone)
▪︎ As soon as black screen appears, press vol_up & power key and connect cable it will take you to recovery
mode.
-> For booting again to download mode:
▪︎ Press vol_down + power key [for few secs](it will force restart your phone)
▪︎ As soon as black screen appears, press vol_up & down and connect cable it will take you to download mode(Note: Even after having experience sometimes this trick take me 2-3 tries, so don't get dishearted easily).
Correction...
That was vol_up(not down) for recovery mode (typo).

Hey, for some reason neither ODIN nor my computer can to recognize that my phone is linked to it. Even after installing the Samsung Mobile Drivers for Windows, I gave it a shot. However, I was out of luck there as well, and my phone continued to refuse to appear in ODIN or be recognized by my PC.
I also tried using your approach to start it in recovery mode, but it didn't work either; all it did was boot into Download mode after displaying the Samsung logo. I believe it may be that my PC isn't picking up my device by itself.
How should I proceed?

Although my device does seem to show up when I connect it to another phone (same model in this case), but yet when I open in the settings, the USB transfer is controlled by my device which is currently stuck in Download mode, and I can't seem to switch it back to the functional device.
And one more thing, I know that my PC's USB is working since, before the flash ODIN, as well as my PC were able to detect my device... but after the Download mode boot loop, none of the attempts seem to be identifying my PHONE...
Thanks @killerboychetan your help is much appreciated!!
I hope we're able to fix this thing together

Ok, got you...
See bro, as like windows have secure boot Android also has AVB(Android Verified Boot). While flashing anything other than pure stock stuff, you need to disable AVB(if what you are flashing has not something to disable it) & to disable AVB, you have to flash null vbmeta.img to set AVB to zero.
[ Note: vbmeta is some sort of file which has verify boot metadata]
So, basically you are exactly not in flashing page of Download mode but rather in AVB warning page, to to get out of AVB warning you have to let phone battery die... [if it ain't]
& as far as i know restart drains battery a lot faster(i even tied my friend phone's vol_down & power button with something, when he get into a similar situation)
And when the battery completely died, pressed vol_up & down key together & connected the cable & then it went to real Download mode than i flashed stock on that case but in your case flashing null vbmeta will work.

Thank you so much for your response... Just two questions here:
If the battery is dead and then I connect it to the PC... wouldn't the phone just die out again... in between the flash since, my PC won't be able to charge the phone with the necessary power... so what do I do then?
And, would flashing this null vbmeta.img file factory reset my phone...!!? I mean yeah I get it that, it's better having the phone bricked... but I was just asking if it does/doesn't factory reset my phone... Honestly no problem, either ways!!
Thank You, so so so so so so so much... my friend!!
I owe you bro...!! FR... Thank You so much!!

• After phone battery get dead, charge it till 3%(not more than that as if you get stuck, drain again will problematic)
Also, download mode don't require much battery & phone charge even in download mode.
• No way man... never... it's just a 4kb file carrying secure boot info. (It's just for some security purpose, which i feel some useless)

Oh! Sry, i forgot to tell you, how to flash vbmeta with ODIN.
So, first zip/archive vbmeta.img to .tar format by using 7zip or something...
Then flash that vbmeta.tar in AP in odin(Also, whenever you flash something with odin always remember to Turn-off auto-restart.
This issue has been already fixed...
It's requested to MODs, pls close this thread.
~Thanks
