i recently flashed Faux123's M7 (UV/Intelliplug/dfsync/FauxSound/s2w/Hybrid Linux 3.4+) [May-25] Kernel using TWRP. Now after checking everything else out, everything is in full working order except the Camera's. This is extremely upsetting because although I've been in the android modding scene for nearly a year now, ive never encountered this problem, nor do i know what to do. If anyone can offer help or links to help, I'd appreciate it very much. Thank You in advance.
There's a camera fix that's needed for roms running the 1.29 and higher firmware. It should be in the aroma installer if not, then somewhere in the thread

My software # is 1.26.502.12 will it work for that? And where can i find the installer?
Oh yes
i should also mention im running stock Sense 5 w/ 4.1.2 and tried flashing both listed camera fixes in the Fauxkernel thread to no avail. This is the biggest pain ever, and i am finding many other people are having this problem too.

Are you trying to run a custom kernel on a stock ROM? If so, there's might be your problem. Further, stop doing that--it's a very bad idea.

Yeah I am. Any stable custom ROMs you suggest for me to try? And supposedly it was only changing the Liboemcamera.so file or something like that. It doesn't matter though. I figured out that restoring it to a backup I made before I flashed the kernel fixed it. But now I have the problem I did before, with not being able to OC or especially UV and Fast Charge. As you know, this phones battery dies fast, and in the short time I was using Faux's kernel with UV/FC its battery life already had drastic improvements. So, can you help me get something stable like that?

Honestly, I'm surprised your phone booted without an issue. I've seen other folks who've flashed custom kernels on stock ROMs and be stuck in bootloops from hell.
TrickDroid and ARHD are both fantastic and I've frequently used both. They're also both running on Android 4.2.2, so they're the absolute latest you can get. ARHD focuses on refining and bettering the stock experience as much as possible without much changes. TrickDroid also has a stock look, but it lets you customize things a little more like the battery icon, clock location, etc. It's more your typical custom ROM, but it's not typical in it's awesomeness.
Thank god I'm so lucky. I never saw these problems in the forums for the kernels... No warnings, no instructions. I just followed the ones I remembered from my flashing days with the GS3.
I can find both of those on the forums, correct? And which do you prefer as a daily driver? Which one can I keep until stable CM10.1 comes out? Or maybe might want to keep even past that?

I bounce between these forums and the AT&T One forums trying to help folks out so I'm not sure where I first started seeing the stock ROM/custom kernel issues. Also I may spend too much time on these forums... >_>
Regardless, I'm a flashaholic. I swapped between ARHD and TrickDroid quite regularly. ARHD seems to be updated a lot quicker, probably due to the fact that it's tweaked less than TrickDroid. The fact that Mike has been around forever too probably helps. I don't know Torxx's work quite as well. That being said, I prefer TrickDroid over ARHD because of a couple tweaks that I like such as SMS screen on, center clock, and replacing the battery icon with a numbered percentage. Not sure if those tweaks are in yet, though, since the change to 4.2.2
Just a head's up on the AOSP front, there's been alot of reports that AOSP-based ROMs are having issues with the camera. Not that it isn't working mind you but that it's taking absolutely absymal shots. This is likely because HTC baked in some software magic to improve the the image quality and those features are missing from AOSP. I wouldn't use an AOSP ROM as my daily driver until the HTC One Google Edition has been released and hopefully it will have that software magic. Figured you'd like to know since the title of this thread is regarding the camera. :
Alrite well, cool. I think I'll check out ARHD tomorrow when I get home from finals. And thanks for the foresight on the AOSP, I doubt that I would've thought of that before hand. Don't wanna lose this camera, its beautiful. xD Anyways, I'll PM you tomorrow with an update on how that ROM works out or if I have questions before hand. For now, goodnight, and thanks for all your help!!!!

I need a cam fix for this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40819216&postcount=2
My details:
Android-Version: 4.1.2
HTC Sense: 5.0
Software: 1.29.401.16
Kernel: 3.4.10
Camera not working
Same here, bit new to this whole ROM thing, but basically I need full OTG support on my HTC One - So I can use DroidPlanner and my USB stick that talks to my Quadcopter - if I plug it in with the stock HTC, it pops up with "unsupported device. Now using the 4.0 rom you linked too and the OTG works fine, but now the camera just shows as a black screen... My HTC One (International) has software version 1.29.980.17 . not sure if that's the problem?
any help appreciated

From what i understand, OTG is based on kernel, not ROM. And this is definitely not the thread to post this on. Use Tbaldens kernel for sense or GE, and thatll be your best bet.

Thanks Toxicoblivion
Yes I'm running - teaMseven_kernel_SENSE 4.0 . The OTG is working fine with this kernel (sorry got ROM and kernel mixed up).
I tried to post a reply to that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255160 , but get this stupid message below and as you will see it clearly tells me to ask about this in the General Q&A, so i'm pretty sure I'm in the right place to ask about "HTC One camera not working"?

Basic info about my device:
Model : HTC Incredible S
Android Version : 4.0.4
HTC sense version : 3.6
Software number : 4.12.720.1
I have started to feel that my phone is getting slow and I read about the benefits of rooting. So, I am planning to root my device. While going through the online tutorials, I came to know that once I root it, I won't get updates from HTC and there are also some risks of ending up with a bricked phone. Some posts said that after the recent android update, the old methods of rooting won't work.
Can someone please post a link or method of rooting my device in easiest way possible? I'd also like to know whether android version/looks will remain same after rooting? As per posts, I won't be able to get HTC updates. What are my options of staying updated in case my device supports new android versions? I kinda like the UI of my phone. Is it possible to root my phone without altering anything else?
Detailed answers would be better.

There won't be any more updates from HTC that's for sure. I mean I once read that HTC plans on stopping the One X after 4.2.2. I think HTC was already extremely generous to give us 4.0.4. Besides, Sense 3.6 is the crappy version of Sense 4 anyways and Sense 4 looks nicer in almost every aspect in my opinion.
Rooting is as basic unlocking the bootloader via HTCdev.com and flashing a custom recovery. However, you will notice that some people have something called S-OFF. Unlike just unlocking the bootloader (which still leaves S-ON), S-OFF grants you permission to certain parts of a particular partition (which I don't seem to remember but what I say here should be enough) and in that way, you do not need to flash the boot.img within each custom ROM (which is probably, the biggest limitation of leaving your phone at S-ON). This is quite a bit to swallow but you'll understand more as you go along rooting and flashing custom ROM plus a bit of Google searching on the side.
As for guides, look at the top of the General Section (you're in it right now!) and everything that's labelled [GUIDE] should be good to use.
To answer the last question, yes it is possible to root the phone and leaving everything as is although there is absolutely no point in doing so. Unlocking the bootloader WILL WIPE your phone clean (ie game data, sms, call logs.....). It would be best to just start fresh. If you are so intent on staying on Sense 3.6, then I would recommend you to either Android Revolution HD or Blackout ROM which you can find more information on in the Android Development section.

Well, I gave a thought and I don't plan to stick to the sense 3.6 looks coz sense 4 will definitely be better. Can you suggest a good ROM for me? I have heard about Cyanogen Mod. What's your opinion regarding that? They have provided full tutorial for flashing their recent ROM. Does that also mean that I will get the superuser access or do I need to do something extra?

Depends on what you're looking for really. CyanVivo10.1 is Android 4.2.2. Id say I'm only using CyanVivo10.1 for the sole purpose of having a theme engine plus theres always more free RAM on AOSP ROMs which Id like since multitasking its pretty essential to me.
However in terms of battery and overall performance Id have to ViperVivo is best. Nik Project_X_Rebirth is also a very good choice but the lock screen ticks me off -.- My favourite Sense ROM is either Blackout or KingCobra although the latter has had reports of not booting past the splash screen for a number of people.

okay, after reading your statement, I have to tell you a thing, rooting out HTC IncS which running on Android 4.0.4+Sense 3.6 is impossible (guys, correct me if I'm wrong) If you want to root it, you have to downgrade it back to Android 2.3.5, which is a VERY troublesome thing.. here's a guide might help you understand something about rooting our HTC IncS! >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987687

rooting and S-OFF are not the same thing. Rooting is just unlock bootloader and flash custom recovery. That is certainly possible on any android OS. S-OFF on the other hand, you need to downgrade back to 2.3.3 (in order to get HBOOT 1.13) and then run revolutionary to get S-OFF

Sorry, but it is possible to gain root access on the HTC ICS/Sense 3.6 ROM without the downgrading option that you referenced.
Unlocking the bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com will allow you to install a custom recovery such as CWM or 4EXT and then you can flash SuperSu which will allow apps to request root access. With a custom recovery in place, a user can also flash a custom ROM, but the drawback is that /boot partition is mounted R/O in recovery mode, so you manually have to flash the boot.img of the custom ROM in FASTBOOT USB mode.
Gaining S-OFF is another form of 'unlocking' the bootloader and giving you full access to all of the partitions as well as the radio. S-OFF by itself does not necessarily provide your apps with root access. That is dependent on the ROM that is installed.

Uh no, the download link is still there. Nevertheless its still a great ROM with virtually no bugs so the only thing you could be improving is battery life and performance and if you still want more then you would be very greedy to do so because it already performs well in both.

Nup your argument doesn't work cause VilleC2 (One S with snapdragon s3) has JB Sense
It has the exact same chipset as the Sensation but runs at a higher clock. Its got a linux 3.4 kernel with JB Sense from HTC so it definitely supports it.

Hello
It's been a while since I've got my htc one and I was waiting for the release of the stock 4.3 firmware before going into the custom world. Unfortunately, it's been quite some times now and I'm pretty tired of waiting.
So which rom should I take as a daily driver.. I'd like to be able to control tv (so I think I need to look into stock based roms?)
I'd also like to put a custom kernel and to be sure there is no problem betwen the rom and the kernel
So I was thinking about Android revolution and elementalx (no **** ahah) or can you suggest some?
is there a big chance that android revolution will be updated to 4.3?
(I'm still on 4.1.2)
Thank you!
Ps. What's s rev-on?
This thread's probably going to get closed because some people here are a little sensitive about people asking for ROM suggestions, but before it does... I LOVE ARHD and Elimentalx kernel lol. They're both super srabel, which on a phone like this with its awesome stock set up is a necessity for me... There's just no incentives for me to flash a custom ROM that's gonna be anything but perfect when stock is so close to perfect itself...
I get great battery life, performance, and stability. So that's my suggestion
And if you're talking about s-on, that means that certain partitions of your internal memory are still locked... You can still flash a custom rom, but you wouldn't be able to update your firmware or anything like that without getting s-off first.

You can update your firmware without S-Off. Android Revolution is stable because it's boring, just like stock. I'd recommend Viper Rom due to the vast customisation options, and it's just as stable. As for the kernel, stock kernel is best for most people. It's the perfect blend between battery and performance. Custom kernels such as ElementalX overclocked to 1.8/9GHz will give better performance but will drain your battery faster.
Everything can be done without S-Off. All S-Off is good for is changing your CID, MID, removing tampered from boot loader, and easily unlocking/locking without wiping anything or alerting HTC to your request of an unlock token.
the best rom is stock and the best kernel is stock. you sound like a man who will end up with a brick so i'd stick with stock

I flashed viper and messed around with it for a couple days and it was just a little too stuttery and I had apps force closing every once in a while... Tried a clean wipe, and still a couple problems.. Nothing huge or intolerable, I just value performance over the colorful theming and fun appearance settings of viper, but that's just my opinion and experience ... Everyone is different.
And I wouldn't worry about bricking... Being stuck on 4.1 sucks lol so if you wanna stay close to stock, arhd with stock kernel is the way to go. As long as you stay s-off and don't mess with your hboot (and always read read read before you do anything) you'll be fine.

Thank you for your reply ahah
Well so I'm like a noob because of my poor skills with english then...
I don't mind going with miui or cm10.. but I really love the remote control app ahh
Also, I want to do the s-off thing because.. I'd like to install ubuntu when it will be stable enough ahah
And i'd like to have the s2w function
Oh! I'm also very tired of the touch menu button on the bottom of many app... Dunno if stock have solved this tough.
Thanks again!

(I'm still on 4.1.2)
Thank you!
Ps. What's s rev-on?

if you want no problems then you have to stick to stock kernels and rom.
android revolution is just another fancy name of a stock rom with minor tweaks Incorporated from other developers (such as APM). so thats the only rom which might fit your needs and has stock kernel too. actually there is nothing which is revolutionary in that rom... lol.
note : i am not a hater of that rom, but there is nothing i like about it too and it did sound funny so i wrote. anyways chill out arhd lovers .

I found this extremely funny. Anyways, I suggest getting ARHD with its stock kernel. Personally, I like GE roms but I cannot overclock on 4.3 because elementalx is not out .

cm is just for flasholics.. and it might not fit your needs
i doubt miui will ever be stable on this phone and ubuntu is just out of question.
stick with stock, enjoy life and have beers.

yeah ok if the OP REALLY wants to do it and knows what he's getting into, then id recommend ARHD.
i'd recommend S-OFF first, then it gives options later
So Ubuntu touch will never be good on this phone :/ sad news ahah
Okay... I'll stick with stock roms then or arhd... I do like aosp roms too... But since nobody suggested one.. seems like I need to use stock to fully use this phone.. another sad news ahah...
Nofrills vs setcpu?
Anyway.. thank you then..

get S-OFF first, then you can try ARHD 12.3...
and if you want logo2wake then i recommend tbaldens 2.1.5 kernel
I'm surprised my thread isn't closed yet.. but I'm happy since the htc one world is very different from the xperia ahah
and.. well ahah I didn't s-off since the only reason for me to s-off was to get ubuntu someday :/
Anyway, such a big difference in rom size vs the xperia play ahah 150mo for xplay vs 1go o,o
Thank you everyone for your reply
what's for S-OFF ? is it mandatory for installing custom rom ?
what's kernel ? what's the function, sorry for noob, I've read quite a lot threads on xda explaining this, but I don't get it in a simple way ??
still confuse....

Because this phone is so old/unsupported hardware, there is no real stable 4.4 rom, just szeszo's built, which has a LOT of bugs.
For a stable rom, you can try CM10, 10.1, 10.2. iirc there are no major bugs.
Sent from my Nexus 5
szeszo's CyanVivo is definitely pretty stable (the version based on android 4.1.x). If you wait a bit though, I'm sure all the Vivokat bugs (minus video recording) will eventually be sorted out...I'm actually using that as my daily go-to phone, it works well enough.
Thanks for reply
Thanks guys for replies.
Sorry, got too busy in work.
I could wait on VivoKat. Just checked, szezso is optimistic about fixing the (only) 2 bugs in that build..
I have installed HTC official ICS OTA for the time being. Enlighten me if anyone knows more about any other stock 4.2+ ROM.
Also let me know views on this: NikRoms (Can't post links being a new)
Had considered this when installing the above...

I used Project X Rebirth for several months and it works great for me. Change the boot animation to one of the ones in the Theme folder here as the stock one hangs up a bit.
I reverted to Rebirth yesterday from VivoKat because I grew tired of charging my phone everyday.
Clear the Air please...
Going to install it since VivoKat seems pretty stable now.. :fingers-crossed:
I unlocked the bootloader on my Inc S from HTCDev.com. The process was easier than I had thought.
Now the doubts are --
Do I still need S-OFF to install VivoKat? I was reading this FAQ, which is quite nicely put, but still a little confused whether to S-OFF or not. I would prefer not to unless it is absolutely needed.
Second is, what if I want to revert to the official ICS RUU? Can I do that with unlocked bootloader and how? If S-OFF has to be done for above, how to and is it possible to revert to ICS RUU in that case?
Appreciate your time guys. Thanks already.

For many ROM's S-Off is not necessary, but it definitely make life easier.
This is a straight forward guide

Well I did do vivokat, it was smooth transition. Although I happened to do a mistake (I suppose. Posted in vivokat QA thread.)
flashed boot before recovery.
Does anyone have any links to downloading official ICS ROM with Sense 3.6?
@DuffyBank : you reverted to Rebirth because of battery drains in vivokat. Apart from that, can u pls compare the two? which one u find better?

Both are smooth, VivoKat is much faster and frees more memory (Sense I imagine?). I like the Sense interface and the camera is better in Rebirth than VivoKat.
Hello everyone, my name is Manuel and I'm Italian (so excuse my bad english)
I am an unhappy owner of a HTC Sensation XL, unhappy because since I bought it, it's really never worked, despite having been in reparation for 4-5 times.
I have two questions then:
What is today, the most stable, lighter and faster ROM for this smartphone?
I had ICS 4.0.3 with Sense 3.6 and it worked decently, then I have flashed the recovery (TWRP before CWM after, because TWRP would not turn off) and I installed 4.0.3 no sense v1.1, Pac-Man,Tik-Tak and RunnyKitKat v17, with none of them worked properly, especially, poor pictures, frequent crashes and wifi that does not function.
My second question is:
If I wanted to restore the original OS that is ICS 4.0.3, is it possible? He was the one that worked best.
Where could I find my ICS ROM STOCK?
P.S.: Of course, for best ROM, I mean I need lighter but that it works everything we need, without having great things because I know that it has very limited hardware.
Thank You
"Best ROM" threads are not allowed in XDA as it tends to start a series of opinion-based rants. The advice is always to try ROMs for yourself as only you can determine what is "good" or "bad" and so on...
However, in the interests of allowing others to help, I'll leave this open. If it deteriorates, then it will be closed.
Thanks
I think you should check sticky thread in android development are.
RUU word suggest htc ROM which are original.
Download, relock your phone, start fastboot, and easily install downloaded specific RUU.
Device will restart and done.
About best ROM;
I hace used multiple ROMs but finally i uses runny kitkat with blinkfeed and xposed framework module.
I didnt found any bug till today(approx 2month use)
I think it will be helpful.

Btw i dont have s-off, same as you, s-off is not necessory..
Download XLmultitool kit and do as screen shows , ( s-off)
Other option for s-off is farjadb software for it.
And runny kitkat does not have any remarkable bug yet. And wifi issue is/was/will be not there.. So feel free and enjoy it.
For xposed module, search for xpised in xda, and download gravity box and you will get even more customization which is provided in ROM inbuilt.
More advanced Sensation XL u will get.

Press Thanks if you like it.
to be honest theres issues with all roms for this device,
with sense there was issues with bluetooth and audio
with aosp there was various nuances, i tried my best to fix what i could.
not any one person will have the same opinion on this matter as it depends per person.
runy kitkat when i stopped building it was pretty much stable,
there is no tik-tak rom im aware of though...
The title says it all. Is anybody interested in a Stock GPE Build for the Sprint S4? The purpose of this build would be a Stock GPE ROM with changes only needed to make it function correctly.
Basically, Keeping it as close as possible to stock GPE for the device with the exception of root/supersu and busybox.
The reason for this would be so dirty flashes work better and be somewhat supported and tested.
Danvdh's GPE build is awesome with many features however there is people like me that need a somewhat stable phone and don't feel like re-building and wiping the phone every time for a new flash.
Let me know what you think.
I think it would definitely be a good idea. Everyone has different needs and as you can see from reading the threads, it seems each phone acts differently on each of these Roms. Thank you for taking time to work on it if you do. If you need someone to test to see if your work causes a phone to glow in the dark, let me know!

Ahhhh was wondering why dirty flash wasn't working. I'm gonna go with Yes! but it's honestly not much of a hassle either way.
As long as I can get voice-mail.

Go for it just as long data, voice, sms and mms work and it does say sprint not digital roam or no service or insert sim
As long as everything works and there aren't any crapola CM add-ons, I'm in for a try.

No, it doesn't. That rom has been modded to hell and back and has nore issues with each release (which usually requires a complete wipe to even function). The OP of this thread is asking if we are interested in a more closely stock, more stable GPE rom without the mods and CM junk.
Would be nice if there was a actual source of the GPE I have a pure stock aosp build for jflte but its kk no mods no CM crap
Hey guys sadly this idea will have to be placed on hold for now. Somewhat busy with life. Sorry
I have one and love it. Do not know if voicemail works though...
