Need help about white balance of Sony Z C6603 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I,and my friend also build 9-220 for the white balance setting. But when I take a photo of us and send it to her by NFC. I found that her screen looks betten then mine.
On her phone, the Picture look more reality and the skin looks betten then mine. About my phone,we look like to be albino
As my friend told me that her screen was produce by Sharp and mine from JDC
So, Do you have any idea to build the white balance for JDC screen? ??
Very thanksful for your help !!!!!!

Try it at around 3/165 for the JDC display. 9-12/210-220 is excellent for Sharp.

[Q] Which display is 'correct'?

Hello all,
The other half and I both got Xperia Z's at launch, and today I thought I'd compare the two phones side-by-side. I was shocked at the difference in the display. Below are photographs taken on another phone. Both Z's are set to full brightness, same theme, no screen protector etc. The one on the left is the other half's, the one on the right is mine. Now I have looked at the other Z, my colours are considerably less vivid, and the whites are grey as opposed to actually being white (this is very noticeable in the icons in the notification tray; all the colours look greyer than they should be, especially reds and blues. Overall, the brightness of my phone is considerably poorer. This is very noticeable on the display test I ran from diagnostics and by loading up the same page on Eurogamer. What do you guys think? I am seriously considering emailing and asking to return my phone for a new one.
Right one seems to be right

This is in German but compares 3 of them to give you some idea;

Try setting the blue flower wallpaper and snapping a photo from the home screens like in the video.
To be perfectly honest none of yours look up to scratch compared to the leftmost device in the video, and mine.
Blue flower wallpaper
Attached are pics using blue flower wallpaper. My other half's phone has the battery widget on the screen. All pics taken on same brightness setting using Lumia 800 camera on auto at same distance from the handset. The final pic is taken using the 'incandescent' mode and there is a stark difference in the amount of detail picked up on the flower.
My phone appears to have much less contrast. When comparing the Google Chrome icons, the three colours are washed out in comparison to the other phone.
I'd never have known if I'd not put the two phones next to each other. What surprises me most is how different the luminosity of the display is when they're both on full brightness.
Okay yeah, the right one is definitely like the one in the video (and mine).
It's one bad and one good for you.

Thanks for the help. Bit confused though, you originally said yours was like the one on the left in the video, but now you're saying it's like the one on the right in my pics. To clarify, which one do you think is the 'correct' one out of the blue flower wallpaper one?
Cheers.
Now this is problem, how would I make sure that, "Z" I am purchasing is not having display issue.
I mean how to make sure that I am getting proper display with better contras.
I will be purchasing "Z" coming week.

I said that originally because it is difficult to compare screens when they're not displaying the same image.
Mine is like the one on the left in the video, which is like the one on the right in your photos.

Thanks for that
In the photos they appear differently to how they are in reality - the OH's phone has better contrast - the blacks being blacker, whites being whiter, and the colours more vivid.
I feel I should contact the online place I ordered from as when forking out £520 for a phone, it should be perfect.

Do it. Return it. It's your right to return without reason within 14-30 days (depends).

This is the problem. From online, you have the hassle of sending it back. When buying in store, places like Carphone Warehouse only let you check the phone for physical damage, not turn it on.
One more video of comparison of display.

Also I noticed that Japan Docomo has different skin, their notification bar color is also black then International version has dark grey.

With the flower wallpaper, should I have almost an outline/glow coming from the flower, or is it just the photos making it appear that way? the black background appears very black and I don't think I've got an issue with contrast but I'm not sure...and of that last video - which is the correct display - the left one?

The glow comes from the last pic being taken using the Lumia 800's 'incandescent' mode. What's really noticeable in that pic is that in the left phone you can see the lighter details on the petals, whereas on the other, you can't.

How is white balance for you ?

Hello there,
I bought my z3c off amazon, noticed after a while the screen got quite pinky when at lowest brightness.
So i got a replacement. Just before I send back the pinky one, here is a comparison between both screen (left : pink & old phone, right : yellower new one). The picture was taken at custom 5000K with a nikon reflex, then color balanced to 6500K in lightroom.
not sure what to think about this pretty big white balance difference between only 2 random devices.
Any insight is welcome.
Cheers.
Do you have any of the color enhancement options enabled (X-Reality or Vivid)?
I have both turned off and find the phone's white balance is actually better than most people seem to be experiencing.
I do notice that some Z3 Compact displays look different. For example, the ones displayed at a Sony Kiosk here look different (more bluish) than mine.
I think that Z3 Compact is not the best screen I've seen. I've just sold a Galaxy S5 and it was a better screen.
What I see in my Z3c is that the screen is not very uniform, specially in low bright modes.
Despite all, the screen is good. I hope that Z4c would be a bit better.
Tried with xreality things on and off. doesn't change a thing.
Oh and the replacement device i got from amazon, it has lightbleed this time
Seriously, poor quality control from Sony. sending them both back. tired of this $h1t :/

Z1 display colors to washed out

Hi guys, I'm facing a problem with me Z1 C6903 with S/N CB51xx which I guess it's packed with JDC panel and from what I've understand, are one of the worst kind for Z1.
The colors are way to washed out for my taste, even if I look at the display dead on. I hate this....I've played with "White balance" on different settings, but didn't find anything that could fix colors being washed out. It's like, the screen is to bright from the factory to compensate the sunlight visibility, which I understand, it's really nice, but consequently the saturation gets washed out. I don't know what SONY was thinking....Opticontrast my asssss, I WANT VIVID COLORS damn it
Is there any solution to this ? A tweak in the build.prop or something, a workaround ? I'm running stock 4.4.4 / 14.4.A.0.157 btw.
Thx!
I know it's not justice for comparing the IPS desktop PC display vs Z1 display (see screenshot attachment), but just to get the idea of what I'm talking about.
Well... I didn't knew about different panels packed with different S/N groups. I have one starting with the same S/N CB512xxxx and to be honest I can't say it's bad or defective or simple placebo effect. The only thing that I've noticed is even on the highest brightness settings, my Z1 is way darker than my sister's M2 Acqua.
If it's a hardware issue as you stated then the only thing we can do about is change the panel and digitizer...
Edit: I bought mine on Germany.

Xperia Z screen saturation and white balance problem

Greetings everyone,
This is what happened. I dropped my phone on a rock and smashed the screen and the touch screen was not working, although the display was ok. I took it for servicing and they replaced it with a 'original' screen. As soon as I got the phone in my hands I noticed a terrible white balance and washed out colours on the UI. I balanced out the white balance as much as I could, turned on Mobile Bravia engine, and its still not a perfect white balance and the colours are still wahsed out on logos of Facebook,Viber etc. At first I thought it was a non genuiune screen, but when I opened the album and viewed the pictures, the quality is just as before, crystal sharp image and very vibrant colours. This absolutely blew my mind because it doesnt make any sense, how can the UI be washed out and the pictures are perfect quality? If anyone could get me some feedback is there anything I can do to fix that I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

There are two different genuine screens used in Z. Sharp and JDC.
the Sharp screen is know for its washed-out feel and the JDC has better colours.
Also, bravia engine is not system wide, it works only in sony's stock album and video app.
You can try flashing Zombie kernel by @Tommy-Geenexus, it has pre-tuned and adjustable gamma controls. Though, I prefer the gamma settings as they come with Zombie.
Thanks for the reply and information. I'll try the Zombie kernel and see how it goes.
