Hi All,
Can someone tell me if i must get better battery result with the stock version of a rom (like the one provide in revolution HD post) or with for the revolution HD10 itself ?
I updated to the last Radio, boot and Revolution HD, and I found the result not so good as previously (currently I loose 20% for 1h web browsing)
Shall I wait a couple of days to let the phone optimised itself with new software (full wipe, clean reinstall...)

Best thing for battery is a custom kernel, you can undervolt
I fixed it:
Reboot in recovery mode (no reboot before the last none at the bottom list)
Wipe the device
Purge \SCCARD by using ADB SHELL --> RM -R \sdcard\*
Flash RevoHD 10.1
Wipe the device
Flash ROM_Cleaner_v1.4
Reboot
Config + Only install really needed information
After 9h make some web browsing, read news, download/upload some stuff throug WIFI, Facebook post, quick phone call and sms : 67% left (looks good for a small usage)

List of common issues (and solutions) for ICS stock ROMs
I see the same questions again and again... so a FAQ is in order
This is mostly targeting the P7300 & P7310 ICS ROMs that are just getting out now. These devices are very similar to the P7500 and P7510 (10.1 tabs), and all these tabs (8.9, 10.1) tend to share the same common issues.
without further ado...
1. "screen" flickering / garbled / messed up when resuming from standby.
solution: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867124 (summary: flash P7310UELA3 ROM via Odin, then flash your ICS ROM)
2. System freezes mysteriously, needs a forced reboot. (also: when an app force closes, the system freezes)
solution: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843837
3. I flashed stock ICS via Odin, and now in recovery I can't flash any update.zip ("can't find /sdcard").
solution: flash another recovery via Odin. The stock ICS one can't find /sdcard. (unlike the stock HC recovery which did)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31196953#post31196953
4. How do I root after flashing ICS
Solution: If you flashed a stock ROM via Odin, then first see point 3 above to get another recovery installed, then flash any root .zip you can find (there's one in the link for point 3)
5. How do I kill the boot sound
remove or rename file /system/etc/PowerOn.ogg (you'll need root access, or you could do this via adb or via an fabricated update.zip thru recovery) - this is same as under Honeycomb
6. I don't have "universal search" (a.k.a. When I search with the google quick search box, I don't find contacts or applications).
Solution: Samsung has removed that feature in ROM for the USA region, but kept it in other ROMs. You can fix this easily, if you have a USA ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31043430#post31043430
7. I'm not seeing my WIFI router anymore
Solution: The ICS rom seems to contain a setting that prevents it from seeing wifi routers using channel 12-13 (2.4 GHz) or using 5 GHz. You have to edit /system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt (change "ccode=GB" to "ccode=ALL"). Credit: original + repost + repost + repost + repost for 8.9
8. Youtube HD video or netflix lags (is choppy), same for some local HD video.
No solution so far. (it helps to lower the quality, in youtube or netflix, but that's not what I'd call a solution).
9. Can I activate voice calling?
There are solutions floating around, for the ICS stock ROMs, and for a few others. See for instance tracid's Stock ICS P7300 ROM which has some add-on's linked in OP. For further reading, visit the voice calling MOD thread
10. Losing too much battery when idle / Deep sleep issues caused by USB Storage safe removal.
There's a possibility that your tab does not deep sleep (and loses extra battery power while idle) after attaching and removing a usb storage device. Workaround = Avoid using the "Safe Removal" option in the notifications. Read more
11. Losing too much battery when idle / Unknown reasons / l2_hsic wakelock / etc
There seem to be other "wakelocks" keeping the CPU from going into Deep Sleep (basically, powering off). The wakelock keeps the CPU at a higher speed, e.g. 216MHz, drawing more power, at least 2% per hour. There is more talk about this on the 10.1 forum than the 8.9 forum, but given the similarity of the devices and stock ICS ROMs, it probably the same issue. If you want to keep an eye on this, install BetterBatteryStats. The most cited wakelock is called "l2_hsic", and according to some occurs only on the 3g tabs if it is set to Flight Mode. (understanding of this issue is still limited and evolving) - link1 link2
... I'll update this post if I see other topics repeated over and over ...
Update 1 (2012-10-14) - added 9, 10, 11
Update 2 (2012-12-25) - clarification 7
I added Q9, Q10, Q11
noob question
I'd really like to know how to do a 'full wipe' of my device since some ROMs suggest it.
Flashed a rom, now my device looks pretty. nothing downloads and it's lost its usb connectivity. please advise?
issue 1
I have looking for this tread for two days, google not help much
Whet i install ICS the flashing display issue occure, and 10x to this tread, now i will try to install UELA3 first and i will post if it is work or not. Hope to work becouse i do like ICS on GT 7310 but im sick of restart the tablet evry 30min if i dont tuch it
What i have try (for issue 1) :
Install HC 3.2 again and enter in odin recovry mode for swipe cache and date, becouse on ics i cant see the recovry mode. Then install ics again and the problem is back. Maybe its some kernel problem becouse the problem can be seen and in odin???
Maybe if i install the the USA 3.1 or 3.2 is it possible to upgrade from kies??? Becouse if i change the rom i have spot that my tablet is connecting again to kies YEI
EDIT: After install UELA3 evrything is looking normal, my problem/issue1 is now fiewd and i can wake up my tablet after sleep
After 2 days im happy to find this thread and fix my problem
With the arrival of many new p7300 ROM's these questions are being raised again... So a little bump.
Note that at least the OpenAustria p7300 XXLQ6 ROM includes a bootloader, so issue number 1 can probably also be resolved with that ROM, instead of the old solution.
Fred isn't that nvram_net.txt?
Yes, I guess you are right. I first read about this in August in the gt 10.1 forum, and several posts mentioned nvram.txt, probably copying the mistake from each other. I'm updating the OP, but I'm waiting to access a laptop currently used by family member.
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
I've flashed the OpenAustria ICS on my P7300 via Odin.
Is this a valid CWM Recovery which I also can flash for the P7300 or is there another link. This is the only one I found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30839339&postcount=52
Is there also the ICS stock recovery somewhere available?
Thanks!

Besides, it is quite unstable that the CPU is 100% consumed resulting no response.
I am forcedforceswitch witch off.
Did I miss any driver or setting to stabilize it?

testing for the results and waiting for any discrepancy from my previous installation.

Yes you must update the bootloader - if you don't you will have issues like you are having.
Just flash, from recovery, my bootloader and recovery package It's in the first post of the Asus Stock 4.4.2 dev thread or the CROMi-X 7 dev thread.
EDIT: Ah - ok you posted again as well - you should be good now.

i try to run some heavy games and programs for the stability. Thanks again:good:

The "?" appears again when I unplug from the docking.
So exhausted that I flashed over 10 times from 4.4.2 > 4.4.3 > 4.4.4 today

You do know that you have to do a full wipe in CWM (cache, Dalvik and data) switching between CM based roms (like CROMBi-KK) and Asus stock based roms (like CROMi-X) - do you???

sbdags, yes I did a full wipe (data, partition cache and Dalvik).
it is originally work as normal, everything is good!!
however, it is crashed when i play a 3D game. I am forced to switch it off.
afterward, the battery signal become "?".
when it recognizes the battery volume, the docking is functioning.
when it shows "?", the docking don't work.
is there any hints to solve it? thanks!

berndblb, thanks!
I read the tutorial. it is quite an advance function for me.
i need some time to diguest and master it.
sbdags, I try to full wipe again and then choose "wipe Dalvik on cache" during installation (it should be in step 3 or 4 about Dalvik).
I completed the installation around 6:30pm.
The battery "?" is likely to be fixed.
I perform some simple tests as follow:
1. plug/unplug the docking and charger (around 20 times within 8 hours)
2. restart/shut down (around 5 times each)
3. 3D games (played around 4 hours)
4. FTP/Cloud upload and download (10GB files)
5. surfing on net (including this reply with the docking)
6. chatting apps (typing and voice recording, around 30 mins)
The result is satisfactory. There is No crash and no "?" so far. Batteries in both devices are functioning. The docking is functioning (charaters function keys etc). overall performance is smooth and responsive. :fingers-crossed:
hope it is the end of this thread.
thank you so much for your help and i am so appreicate to your effort on the android development.:fingers-crossed:

Finally, it is the hardware problem. The problem is possibly fixed after two maintainance service. Asus charges me HKD$570 for battery (1st time) and HKD$537 for the mother board on the dock, the connector and some IC (2nd time).
I have show my unpatientness to the unfair repair cost and the total time for doing so. the point is a new docking with 1 year warrenty is around HKD$1200. a repair service consumes me nearly 3 months! (the 1st time, it consumes one month and few days. 1 week later, I give it back with same reason. they tell me more parts are out of serice and charges me the 2nd time. again, it consumes me nearly one and a half month)
Sorry Bros!! TF701T would be my last ASUS product. Asus will always on the black list in my IT dept. Of course, there is no more referal to my friends.

Sounds like you need to recalibrate your battery. Basically use it until it dies then turn it on and and use it again until it dies, then put it on the charger until its %100. Should be good after that. Its not a ROM or kernel issue. Just needs done every so often.
Ok OP awesome work! I have OTA available, is it ok to download and install it?

SuperSU issue & some Android settings
I have just tried this ROM on my M7. I have to say it's really awesome. Thank you very much for your effort.
I have 3 questions with this ROM, hoping s.o can give some ideas. Thanks.
1. I can't find Restart/Screenshot option in the menu when I press Power button anymore (These options can be found easily in KitKat)
2. I have SuperSU up and running, I tried some Check Root apps and it says the device was root. But XmodGames said otherwise. I am not sure if you can try installing Xmodgames and check that. Thanks.
3. I can't find option to display the percentage of battery left. Does Android 5.0 still support this feature?
Hey nice rom just have a small issue where phone screen turns on when I push the volume keys even during music playback screen always turns on when I push volume up or down. Anyone else experience this?

I installed my first custom rom (this one) yesterday and i'm thrilled about lollipops features. but i challenge a few problems.
My questions:
1. I'm experiencing problems with Whatsapp. It does not refresh itself and gives me push notifications, i always have to navigate into the app to receive my new massages. Any help here?
2. Is there any possibility to remove the annyoing energy saver mode notification in status bar?
3. What do I have to do to mute ringtones and media only and keep my alarm clock loud? The simple "tap" like it worked on Kit Kat roms to mute e.g. the ringtone doesn't work for me.
I'd appreciate your help. Sorry for my english (Im from Germany)

Issues updating the supersu binary
I am having issues updating the supersu binary. Supersu version installed is 2.40.
Installed elemental-x kernel, and stock kernel. Both have failed.
Used boot.img from liquidsmooth version 4.0 (5.0.2), but phone wouldn't boot up. Extracted boot.img from skydragon 6.0.0 5.0.1 and flashed into phone. Might try boot.img from a 5.0.1 liquidsmooth rom.
Tried updating the binaries in normal mode, failed to update. Tried twrp/cwm mode, it won't reboot.
Downloaded busybox on rails from the playstore. To my surprise, I was able to grant root access to the app in order to install busybox. It seems that 99% of the applets installed. The only applet missing is "nc"
Tried another busybox apps, but they all fail.
Keep getting a notification to update busybox, missing binaries.
Running T-mo htc one m7, S-off, unlocked bootloader. SuperCID.
Thanks for the support in advance
SIGNAL/IMEI and adb issues
I'm not sure if they are related or not, but I've flashed this ROM several times and I'm seeing the same two issues:
1. All the values under About, Status show "unknown" for IMEI, and IMEI SV. I've popped the sim out and reseated it. Still nothing.
2. I am not able to connect to the phone via adb. At first, the device was showing up as "offline". I tried a couple fixes (restorecon fix, updated adb) and now it's not even showing as a device. I'll reboot my mac in a bit to see if I've just effed the adb install/state.
This phone was originally an AT&T Sense HTC One (m7). iirc, you had to mess with one of the id's to get GPE on it, but this ROM claimed somewhere that you didn't need to do that. Is that my issue? the CID is wrong.. (I think there were two ID's)
EDIT#1: possible derp moment. Baseband also shows Unknown.
EDIT#2: I'm S-ON. I got adb working by extracting boot.img from the ROM and flashing via fastboot.
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
still trying to resolve the baseband/IMEI issue
I'm getting unusually high Android System usage. Sometimes it outnumbers screen usage. If I start using the phone at the end of the day(10% battery life), my max SOT will be something like 2hrs with 20-30% Android System use. It happens on every single kernel and rom (SM-N920C). So here are the things I tried:
Stock russian based image with deepsleep fix/stock kernel (CF 2.66) N920CXXU2AOK6_N920COXE2AOJ5_N920CXXU2AOK5_HOME.tar.md5
Stock AUE based image with deepsleep fix/stock kernel (CF 2.66) N920CXXU2AOK6_N920COJP2AOJ5_N920CXXU2AOK5_HOME.tar.md5
Stock based image with arter97 v11 kernel and philz recovery.
Stock based image with SkyHigh v3.5 kernel with philz/twrp recovery.
Dr. Ketan rom with arter97/skyhigh kernel
Venom rom with arter97/skyhigh kernel
The problem is not in deepsleep, because the device does deepsleep when checking through betterbatterystats.
Tried disabling location/location history, android device manager, most of the samsung bloat through titanium backup. Also ejected the sim to make sure its not a network issue. Wifi is connected but when I check from betterbatterystats everything seems ok. No unusual wakelocks or anything. I literally tried everything.

Let the phone settle down after flashing. I guess it so happens because it keeps system wakeclocks to check your usage patterns and then try to save battery accordingly from 2nd or 3rd charge cycle.
I'd recommend to wait after flashing a firmware.
Assuming you have a N920C (single sim), flash the OK7 version ROM (or even the iOiO custom ROM) with SkyHigh v3.5 kernel and allow it be stable after 1 or 2 days and then check. (You'll be surprised with good battery life)
Sounds good?

I wish it worked as great as it sounded. I have done that. It came to the point where the system started asking about optimizing apps (after couple of days) and I agreed. Nothing changed. It most likely is not a wakelock. Standby drain is normal but once I turn the screen on it starts going down really fast, like I can see it going down in front of my eyes.

Like I said, I have been doing full stock installs, meaning everything is wiped off and I always set everything up from scratch, no backups.
Hi, I have got my N910F rooted phone with stock firmware build
MMB29M.N910FXXS1DPH1
and E-motion kernel.
These days I've installed L Speed to get a faster phone but I'm noticing many lags..unfortunately..
I notice the kswapd0 and Android system often suck my cpu.
I found on the web that if you want fox the kswapd0 issue you need to use Semaphore kernel but I installed E-motion kernel because I'm using a Zerolemon large battery and this kernel can read the battery in a correct way.
Therefore I'm thinking to change the Rom for example but I don't know them..
I thought about Emotion Revolution that you can match with the Zerolemon kernel.
In my phone I have installed about 650 apps (Titanium finds 660apps).
What do you think? Can I solve my lags issues?
Thanks!!

Sounds like you are suffering from the same symptoms I have. After over a years worth of usage and a couple "dirty" flashes to improve speed / stability my device was suffering from random reboots, slowdowns and lag spikes. In the end the only real solution is a factory reset
I've tried wiping cache, re flashing roms / kernels, trying different kernels (even though I need the zerolemon fix) all without any meaningful success
I'm unsure of the exact cause of the lag though. Even completely stock devices will experience lags / slowdowns after several years and the recommended fix from the manufactures themselves is a factory reset. This is only exasperated by flashing custom roms, kernels and patches which may introduce memory leaks, data leaks or other instability.
Personally I went back to a stock (debloated) Samsung based rom with Emotion's Zerolemon kernel, restored most of my apps and re-setup everything system related. It's now running like-new again.
Sadly there is no "quick fix" for this issue and, like me, your attempts to solve issues regarding speed / reliability by flashing various patches and fixes have come back to bite you.
So:
Backup userapps in Titanium (Do not backup / restore systemdata)
Perform a Nandroid Backup
Flash the rom of your choice (Do not flash the kernel yet)
Factory reset (Wipe system, Cache, Dalvik Cache in recovery)
Boot into android and perform the initial set-up
Flash the kernel in recovery (No need to wipe anything)
Boot back into android and begin restoring user apps and setting everything back up the way you like it.
I know "factory reset" probably isn't the answer you were hoping for but it's the only option I have found which fixes these issues for longer than a couple days..
