Hi
Optimus rookie time. I have tried to understand from the faq but no one has answered this specifically that I can see. I'm in Australia, I have got an O4X from Kogan. It has arrived and has lots of Asian menu's, I have no idea if Taiwan, China or Singapore perhaps so far. It has lots of apps with 'hama' in the names if that helps. This is what is listed in about phone:
Software version: LG-P880-V10d-OCT-16-2012
Build number: IML74K
Baseband version: L6260_MODEM_SIC_02.1216.01
Kernal: 2.6.39.4
I would like to try JB, I get some people hate it, some say it is ok. If not, back to ICS or CM. Which JB firmware do I go for, the euro version or must I get the right regional version for my phone?? If so, can anyone tell what is is or is all that is important is v10d?
Thanks for any advice
Hi. I also got my 4X from Kogan, so I've been through the issues you've mentioned.
First thing I did was update to 4.1.2. I didn't spend any time with ICS, so I can't comment on differences - I WANTED JB and that was that! :cyclops: To update to 4.1.2, I used the LG update software – info about this procedure is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
To check which version of the LG software to use, I used this URL: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=
You need to put your IMEI (from Settings / About phone / Phone identity) in the url after "?esn=", and it returns the URL of the software you should download to update your phone. That told me to use the Taiwan version - I don't know if others (eg Europe) are compatible with our hardware - would be interested to hear!
2nd step was to root the phone (as an Aussie, you need to ignore the obvious sexual joke in that phrase!) – I used the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2180688 with some help from the better English at http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-root-lg-optimus-4x-hd-android-4-1-jelly-bean.html [NB – the comment below this points out some errors].
The next step was to install Titanium Backup and use it to remove all the non-English apps. I had no problems with that step, so whatever they are, they're not critical.
G'day, nice one. Will look into links later. Appreciate the reply
Thinking about this a bit more, if you only want to flash the "official" (Taiwan, in your case) updated firmware for your phone, you can use the LG Update tool "as is". The instructions in my earlier post can be used to flash other versions and a lot of people seem to be using the Euro 20A. I'm out of my depth here though, so hopefully someone else can confirm:
Can any version (ie any country) firmware be flashed onto any 4x?
Ok, all done. Running jelly bean fine. Think it better than ics, using iodak kernel. Thanks for help. If anyone comes across this thread, when flashing to jb using kdz, the 100‰ battery is essential before flashing

Hi Guys,
I bought a Galaxy Tab P1000N and i have Froyo2.2
I would like to update to GingerBread 2.3 at least but with all the manuals out there, i'm affraid i'll brick it.
This is the info i have:
Model number GT-P1000N
Firmware Version 2.2.1
Baseband Version P1000NUBJM2
Build number FROYO.UBJM7
Can you please point me to the right manual? if it is even possible to update it?
I tried installing the latest Kies from the EU site, but it says my version is up to date..
Thanks,
Roi
can i say if you going to update to gingerbread you should use a custom rom based on gingerbread and the OVERCOME ROM is the best so far as for the battery life is amazing and the tab will be much faster ... head to their thread and read about it and step by step will will find everything you need to know ..
Thanks!
Medoo88 - 2 questions:
1. I need to be absolutely sure that with the specs i gave above, my tab will handle this.
2, Since you're in Egypt, this question is even more relevant: Does the Gingerbread ROM have good Arabic/Hebrew support?
Thanks,
Roi
Shalom
I used this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854&highlight=tmobile+rom and it worked for me. I used the "with bootloader" methed.
Take your time and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS...I found CF-root 3.3 at another thread and used it.
Good luck.

Did you do it on a P1000N ?
How complicated is it? (not a complete noob at ROMs, but not familiar with tabs nonetheless..)

It started life as a Tmobile Model SGH-T849. After the GB upgrade, it now shows as a GT-P1000.
I am able to make and receive telephone calls with my tmobile sim. I'm very happy with the update. I have no data plan so don't know anything about that function. Very stable and working great.
I'm very new to all this. I took my time, followed the instructions and it work just like they said it would.
Overcome doesn't have Arabic language or locale, but at least two team members are Arabic or Egyptian, so they made a patch that you apply to the Overcome rom for those languages/locale of that region.
The reason kies says you are up to date is samsung hasn't released any new roms in your country.
Any tab with a sim card can be upgraded to 2.3.3.
Get the guide from Team Overcome, read everything twice. You have a windows 7 pc available?
Remember I told you to remember JM2. You'll understand later.
Rangercaptain -
Many thanks. thats the answer i needed.
Although i need a hebrew support and not Arabic, i still think its worth upgrading to.
I'll do the Overcome team patch, and will remember JM2
Yes i have Win 7 on my PC..
[Edit]
One thing i found out on Overcome website, is this announcement:
"Overcome ROMs/Kernels will NOT work with Latin American Tabs (the P1000L/N Galaxy Tabs)/CDMA-Based Tabs (If your Tab doesn’t have a SIM card, it won’t work…sorry!)/Wi-Fi Only Tabs (P1010 models!)"
Am I in the wrong place?
This is your thread:

How did you end up with a South American tab in Israel?
Anyway, there are big differences with your N-model, in drivers (for the tv app, and the digitizer). Read it all, and let me know if you have any questions.

Orange Israel ran out of tabs. and offered to credit me if i buy one from other vendors, so i bought from a vendor who, probably, self imported it from South America..
Thanks for the help!

There is no JB update available for Note yet, the information in that link is incorrect.
And it's mentioned in the same link that it's 4.0.4
"Select files that you have to flash or install on your phone, files found from the extracted files after download of Android 4.0.4 N7000 XXLRU"
I don't think that software was really jellybean. As far as I know there is no official jelly bean update for N7000 yet. If I was you I wouldn't flash it, go with an unofficial build in android development section. As for language, you can select on boot so shouldn't matter, but I would still stay away from this '4.1.4 leak'
Edit: was beaten to it ^^ as jeetu1981said ^^

I'll be brave and try it out. YOLO? lol
I'll be brave and try it out guys, backing up my phone as we speak, I'll update you with screenshots if it actually works.
Hopefully this won't brick my phone (I've fixed quite a few bricked phones in the past so I should be alright)

Yes, I do understand the consequences, but I just wanted to try it out since no one seemed to have tried it yet and see if the leak is legit. If all else fails I'll just claim insurance for it.
Already such experiment was made with
Odin
CWM
Mobile Odin
Nothing was useful, and this kind of thread already burried 2 days ago.
seems to be an OTA update?
there's none ever official JB release yet. I bet Official JB would come perhaps early next year.. I doubt it'll be primed for this year as there's still too much devices that needs to be upsold and marketed (with official stock JB already, e.g. Note 2). Once the new stocks are being sold in the mainstream... then that will be the time the official JB would be released.
Hi All
I have a UK GT-P1000 3G. Never really used it as I just didnt really get on with android (sorry), and I am selling it on, so therefore wiping it and updating it before selling.
However, I bought it used, and I have discovered that it has third party software - overcome- on it - which I would like to remove and install at the very least the factory supplied software, and preferably the latest available official UK software on.
Current details shown are:
Firmware version
2.2
baseband version
P1000XXJK5
Kernel Version
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #171
Build number
Overcome v1.4.4
For a TOTAL alien to anything android, could some kind soul please help me out with links and steps to get rid of this and install the latest official uk software on please (ice cream pickle gingerbread sandwich or whatever it is).
I have absolutely no knowledge of anything android, so I need this as quickly and easily as possible please. Googling this stuff gives so many different types of android stuff and variations I really wouldn't know where to start.
Thanks in advance!
There is a link on my signature.
It is overcome method,
But if follow the first part only, it will put you back to stock donation, but an Italian jq1 Gingerbread ROM
Just download the PDF guide, and gb-stock-safe-v5 package.
Jump to page 7 and flash and done.
But you seems pretty inexperience, why take the risk?
Just perform the "factory reset" from the tab, and sell it advertise it as having Overcome custom ROM.
plenty of people will appreciate it.
(But make sure to mention it is Overcome v1.4, which is quite old)

Hi
My simcard reader has died on me and googling suggested it was a baseband/RIL problem. Only that those problems surface from rom changes etc. I have not changed my rom so its been decided it is purely a hardware problem.
I still have warranty and will need to unroot and put stock rom back. I have done that using NVflash, I am just worried they will suspect I rooted the phone. I bought the optimus 2x in Australia and fear they will know I installed the european rom ( not sure if the roms are the same or not ). What can I do to maximize the chance of LG honoring my warranty?
I have updated the official firmware to ICS, I know for certain it is out in europe, but i was not sure if ICS was out in australia. This is another potential suspicion. Help appreciated, leave thoughts and comments on how I should go about doing this.
BUMP sorry for doing this BUT im taking it tomorrow and need last minute help!
I am paranoid they will think it was rooted etc so I want to know if the official ICS software version P99030b is out in AUSTRALIA? (im running this version atm, its official LG but i don't know if this is out in Australia yet. I think I have the european ICS).
Another BIG question I really need to know is how do i flash a rom that is a zip file that has a .bin and fls file? Is this NVFlash?
The rom I found is from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041
Can anyone let me know what I need to flash these roms? I found the same rom on another site and don't know how to flash it. Please help the warranty expires really soon.

if you have to flash the ROM using the .bin and .fls files....try the AllinOneTool kit by sprosk....then you can unroot...
but the best way is to connect the device to LG update tool....the job is done....you will lose your personal data...so just backup
no one can then find it out....dont worry
hope it helps

Yes, the official Australia ICS is out, you can download it from here, under the Australia section.
http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?mod=Lg+Optimus+Dual&paese=Tutti&id_mod=3
If you check out this thread by felipemadox and download the contents, in the instructions (in the downloaded files, not the ones in the thread) there is one part where you can "clear software update registry", that might help.

Seeing as it's just a hardware problem, I doubt they will even look at your ROM.
Hope this helps!
Hello all.
Firstly, i strongly appologise if this post is in the wrong place etc, and i really have tried very hard to search through everything without having to post but i'm so lost i need a point in the right direction. There's just way too much info on the forum, and links, and threads, a lot of it assumes you have a very detailed understanding of custom android roms etc etc and i'm going round in circles.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, purchased in the United Kingdom and on o2 network.
It is not currently rooted, however i am preparing to do this also.
My current Firmware version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: I9000BUJV4
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000BUJVG-CL719381 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.BUJVG
I want to root and then flash a new rom to my phone as currently it is SO slow i can barely use it so my main aim after rooting the device is either to remove a load of unnescesary apps and streamline the stock gingerbread rom OR update to a stable rom that does not come cluttered with lots of apps. I can soon add the apps i want or need.
With there being SO much information on i9000 and the info being a bit dated (handset is very old model now by todays standard) i'm just overwhelmed with too much or conflicting information. I really would benefit from someones knowledge and advice.
Firstly i do have Odin and the PIT files.
Secondly i can't seem to find matching relevant files to be able to root my handset as nothing seems to match what i see on the 'ABOUT PHONE' screen and as listed above, nor can i see a stock rom that matches my info.
Thirdly, i'm considering something like using: [ROM][GB][JW8] MesoROM v2.0 but don't understand the instructions (they assume you have flashed roms to and from the handset before). I cannot establish from my phones info whether i am all set to begin with some of these roms as some are labelled JW8 and referred to if you are on Gingerbread JW8 or not etc and i don't think i am as these letters are not meaning much to me at present. The references to using certain kernels (eg semaphore) have confused me also. I need things dumbing down
I am confused as to the order i need to begin. I have attempted nothing yet, due to not being able to get my head around everything 100%. I don't understand the seperate parts of Odin, and which i must flash and which i can leave as standard, i have flashed Samsung galaxy Aces handsets using CWM before but i just desperately need a list of the order to do things and confirmation what files are a compatible match with my info not seeming to match any references on the forum.
If someone could inbox me or just simply point me in the right direction i would be so grateful. Any order to work from no matter how brief would be very helpful.
I understand this post must look like i'm not making any effort to read or search but honestly i have and appologise for coming across as a complete idiot, i have tried vigourously to learn about flashing these handsets i'm struggling to work out the correct files to get going with, and their relevence to the operation of the phone.
Thanks for your patience.
Drew
Additional info
In Samsung Kies the current firmware lists as:
PDA: JVG / PHONE: JV4 / CSC: JV5 (VOD)
This helps make sense of some of the individual rom instructions but i am still a little confused... which is kernel and which is system os / firmware so to speak?
I believe i want the Semaphore 2.74 kernel but completely don't understand the abreviations used within the instructions.
Will that kernel work happily with MesoROM v2 rom, and what order to flash via Odin etc? Just can't get my head round all the jargon. and all the JV4/5/6/7/8/9 references.
Try this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434225
If you don't manage, ask again here or PM me.

Yes, it will work.
BTW, Semaphore 2.7.4 is a stock kernel in MesoROM v2.0
Thankyou, all working with MesoROM and Semaphore. Really pleased
