I just got an LG Optimus 2x from Wind and after *thwip*-ing the screen left and right for several hours, it came to my attention that smartphones can do a lot more than simply sliding the screen horizontally. They can do it vertically too. So after several more hours of that and 11 minutes of porn later, I decided I wanted to root this thing. Burying it in soil and sprinkling water on it didn't work for some reason so I questioned the almighty Google - it led me here.
My phone has Froyo 2.2 (I think?) and I want to gain root permissions and upgrade to CM7. At least that's what I was told on Youtube, dude named analcobra said I want CM7 and who am I to question a guy named analcobra?
Any help is appreciated, I'll post a pic of my tits in return.
well first off welcome to xda, secondly all the info you need is right here just use the search fucntion, people dont like it when you dont use it lol,
i wish i could help you root your phone etc, but i have only just got the o2x myself , did have previous phones but each phone has a different way of getting root etc,
Just download superoneclick, follow instructions, root, download rom manager off android market to flash a recovery image, download cm7 to the root of your sdcard, reboot into recovery and flash cm7 the end, tits please?

Dude, you're funny.
Congrats to both of you for your new toys and welcome to XDA.
My personal recommendation, is to read around, stay at stock for a week. Root it maybe, stay for another week or 2, before choosing the ROM that you want to try first.
Staying on stock with all LG crapware and stuff will allow you to:
1) Know if there are any hardware issues your phone might have which should prompt you to return it to the store.
2) Allow you to appreciate rooting and custom ROMs better.
I also recommend lurking on the Android development threads and back reading maybe 5 pages of the more active threads. That way, you'll know what the pros and cons of each ROM is. And you'll know what you'll get yourself into after flashing. (So you don't cry out that you don't have FM radio when you just flashed an ICS ROM.)
My immediate recommendations for 1st time CyanogenMod flashers would be Temasek's CM7 of course. As it is a very active thread, and support is definitely abundant.
Anyway, adjust your LCD brightness, and prepare to read stuff.
Above all, have fun.

All the folks are right above, proceed accordingly.
However, keep in mind that your device is not an O2X(P990) but a G2X(P999), so to prevent yourself from some hassle(bricking your phone, etc.), check the T-Mobile G2X thread.

Thanks, probably would have missed that.
Also, what's with the battery on this thing? I switched my phone off last night (at 62%) and when I turned it on this morning, it was at 25%. Is it supposed to lose that much power even while it's turned off, or do I just have a faulty device?[/color]
Damn, that's bad. Is it a new phone? I only lose 3-4 percent a night when it's not even turned off (just the screen). But I can imagine it's the fault of the original LG ****ware, I had to install it a week ago because I bricked my phone, and after 2 minutes of the CLEAN install it was already lagging heavily.

How new is your phone? You might just need to drain the batt, then charge it to full.
If it still happens, something's wrong with your phone. Take it back to the shop.
Stock froyo roms only use 1% of battery on idle. (2g network use only. No wifi or gps.)

The phone's brand new, I got it like two days ago. The battery was already really low when I got it so I let it die and then charged it back up to like 90% before unplugging it. I'll drain it, charge it again, and then see how things go before returning it I guess. It lost 1% (with the screen turned) off in the last 12 minutes. D:
I don't have a data plan on this (aside from the free 100mb that comes with Wind25) so I had Wind disable the data on it. I also turned off the wifi before turning the phone off last night because I thought it'd save power. Would that have anything to do with it or is my inner noob showing?

Yes. Turning off wifi if you're not going to use it would help.
Having an enabled wifi either:
1) Keeps searching for networks that it can connect to
2) Once connected, will background sync/update certain apps. (i.e. Google Play)
I just noticed that if I do things that are supposed to conserve battery power, they use up more. Switching to 2g only, turning off wifi, etc. I lost 5% in one hour doing that, but when I turned everything back on, I only lost 1% in one hour.
In any case, the battery seems to be doing a little better than yesterday, maybe I just have to drain/charge it a few more times to sort it out? Has anyone else ever had similar problems before?
Gavin, I'm a new smart phone user too and have the same phone from windmobile and the first thing I noticed about the phone was how quickly the battery can drain. I thought it was defective or something but no, that's how it is. Mine would be dead from a full charge in less than 14 hours and that's without any usage, which is shocking and made me consider cancelling my plan. I do have data running however. Anyway, there are a bunch of apps available that can preserve the battery life. I've tried 3 or 4 and the last one (just found it 2 days ago from the Play Store) is the best by far. It's called "battery defender". I fully charged my phone yesterday and after a whole day (24 hrs) I checked the battery status and it showed 90% left (the app adds a battery icon that shows % left). Pretty damn good for a phone that used to be dead in less than 14 hours. I'm extremely happy. You can also try "juice defender" (the first app I tried) but that will probably give you 2 1/2 days on a full charge, which isn't bad.
BTW, draining and charging the batt won't do much if anything at all and in fact it ISN'T recommended that you let it drain below 20%.
Check out those apps and download one. They're free and they DO work. Also, get yourself a car batt charger too and maybe an extra battery.

No need to repeat cycling the battery. You can maybe do it once every 2 months and that's plenty for Lithium Ions.
Electroman is right. Optimum charging cycles go rom discharging only to 20%, then charging back up to 80%. And repeat.
About your battery being worse when you actually disabled your network stuff. I'm thinking you have apps or widgets that are configured to update every so often. And with the network out, they keep on refreshing themselves.
I personally didn't see huge gains from Juice Defender, but those batt saving apps are definitely worth a try.
Wonder if wind is putting any dodgy apps on the phone that use battery up?

Cuz the voltage gets high and reduces the life of the battery. Sort of an increase in MAH at the risk of overcharging and slowly killing the battery. 20-80% is ideal but **** that!

Hello! So my phone is new, just bought it on 22nd Dec! It's not rooted, and i havent done much to it other than downloading apps. Till now, the battery has been charged to full, drained to 0 and then charged to full again. So today, i tried rebooting my phone and bam: battery drain! O_O Is this normal? I've looked around some forums, but all of those are related to rooted phones so, yeah >o<!! It's running ICS also, btw.
Since the phone is new, i think its normal, but i don't know actually. Anything i can do about it? Or will it become normal after a few days?

I have same "BAM" sometimes after reboot. :crying:
But don't drain to 0, its better to charge when its 20-10% left.
This is normal. After a few charge cycles, the measuring of battery will be accurate.
But if you do factory reset, or too many restarts, you'll notice this inaccuracy again.
And again, when the battery has 1%, it has about 3,2V, which is safe and does not damage the battery. Control mechanism for battery is good enough, there is no need to worry about damaging the battery by discharging.

I hope it's really normal then, since another problem I found is that the phone sorts of heats up throughout the night and sometimes I can't unlock it. And other times, after locking it, if sort of can't be unlocked anymore until I pull the battery.
This is my first Xperia phone, got to say I'm kinda disappointed.
So i posted this during christmas right? It's like the 4th now, and the problem still persists.Over ONE WEEK. ROAR. This morning, the phone heated up for no reason (again; don't know how many times it happened now ,_,) and i couldn't unlock it and i pull the battery and bam! Over the course of the week, it's obviously been happening again and again. I'm getting so frustrated with this phone, but i don't want to go without a phone by sending it to repair, not to mention the center is so FAR away from me.
Just hope for the problem to be solved, or go away soon.
Does anyone else experience this too?
(PS: I've charged my phone quite an amount of times, since i'm a heavy user and it's a NEW phone, so yeah, i get busy playing with it, to the extent i almost charge it everyday. Is that bad?)

Yes, going through the sleep of death on my xperia v. It started when I switch on the location-based wifi service, and stopped when I disable that service.
I also turned off google location reporting which sort of saved my battery life.

okay so i know i'm the OP and i haven't been on in AGES but i'm here to update on the situation.
i guess the problem is.... perhaps solved? i don't know what i did or if i did anything but the problem seemed to have went away by itself.
the only 'problem' now is that the battery level is still fluctuating whenever i restart the phone :insert facepalm:
and contacting SONY didn't really help, they just told me to go down to their service center -_- i would go down, but i don't want to do a 1-for-1 now. i mean, the problem is... sorta solved, somehow, now.
Hey Guys,
I have been searching for hours now and cannot find anyone having the same or similar issues with the One as me
and I am really becoming desperate..
So, the problem is that I cannot charge the phone anymore, whenever I try to do so the battery symbol becomes grey with an exclamation mark.
I have no clue what the reasons for this are and why it occurs, also this is the second time now that this happens to me.
I have already sent it to the repair service 3 days after I bought the phone, this time it lasted around 3 weeks until it happened again.
So far I am loving the phone and its features, but this problem is driving me mad, any help would be appreciated!
Edit: it ran out of battery and now I can neither turn it on nor is it charging

Yeah it's bad. Too weird. You are not alone a couple other people are having this issue just this morning. Like four or so ONES decided they would all just say goodbye at the same time. It's odd as I have not seen any other problems like this until this morning.
Guessing this is a DEV edition or you can't go to a carrier and have to go through HTC? If so make sure to tell them this device has already been in before for the same problem and at this point you want a new device not this defective one.

Hello,
I came here to ask for help.
i bought this device about ~2 months ago.
firsly i didnt notice it, but as time passed and it got worse i noticed my battery is draining un-logicly fast.
my battery got bad and i had to replace it (it got fat, was some cheap chinese battery).
i got an original LG battery, thought it will solve the problem.
it didnt.
depends on use, my battery drains from 100% to 0% in about 2-4 hours. (depends on 3G on/off, screen on time, if im playing games.)
i downloaded BBS, nothing looks unusual.
still, i tried every solution i found that was suggested in this forum:
I did a factory reset/full wipe.
I froze most of the bloat. (lg stock apps)
nothing help, and the phone is not really use-able with this kind of horrible battery life.
im running stock 4.1.2, 20a.
any suggestions? im frustrated.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

Try a custom Rom and kernel, and under clock the kernel. The way to tell a bad battery is to put it on a flat hard surface, if it lays flat it's still good, if not then it's time to get a new one, this phone notoriously has a bad battery life and we need to squeeze as much out of it as we can which can be a challenge, buy a portable charger will help too!
The more the battery Discharges the more damage it does, keeping it topped up and constantly charging is good. To my knowledge anyways.
see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48894811
Yep we should avoid to drain battery complitly but once in a while dropping to 3-5% and then charging it can be good.

Bump. Battery is horrible and i dont know which rom should i flash..
i prefer something stockish or aosp/cm. only bugs free is important.
suggestions?
Try cm11 official nightly i am currently on it and i got 2:40 hours onscreen time without any tweaks. You must firat update CWM then download it and flash gaps.I am using dalvik build gaps and rom.

Iv'e heard cm11 got a camera bug, is it true?
Zaiben RC7 is very good in battery and stability. Zaiben modded stock kernel is very good also. You should try it.
Meanwhile? What is your deep sleep percentage?
Try greenify on your most used apps, i helps a lot...
Hello everyone,
I've enjoyed this watch even if the battery life sucks since the beginning!! especially coming from the Samsung Gear S3, which has never ever lasted less than a day (24 hours).
Since the last Android Wear 2.0 update, the battery life is even worse, although I doubt it's actually linked, probably just a coincidence, but my watch hasn't make it through the afternoon for few weeks now. Barely 6 hours (with EVERYTHING disable, even bluetooth, in Airplane mode).
As of today, the watch will turn on and turn off few seconds later regardless the battery %.
Lg answered nicely that they would take a look at it, and ask $20 for the diagnostic if I don't want them to process the fix!!! And I read online that the battery replacement is $60. I would rather throw it away...
Anyway, I have 2 questions :
Does someone knows where to source this damn battery (BL-S7)?? Out of stock on ebay
Did someone try to fit a Watch Urbane battery (BL-S6) which is 570mAh instead of 430mAh? Or anyone knows this battery size? (I know the connector is different but at this point it's not the biggest issue )
That could help many people meeting issues with this watch... (I'm done with LG!!)
Thanks!!
Ok, I found the answer to my second question, and obviously bigger capacity = battery battery
the BL-S6 (Urban 2nd G) is about 31x27
the BL-S7 (Sport Watch) is about 28x27
So I'm still interested to know where to buy the BL-S7.
Thanks,
Assuming I can find a BL-S7 battery, how easy is it to strip the watch down to change?
My watch is so random with shutdowns and % battery left remaining I am thinking it is all down to the battery after over 18 months daily usage/charging.
Also interested in this.

Disassembly is fairly easy if you take your time and disconnect the connection points. Nothing is really glued in place aside from the bottom cover and the battery to the rest of the chassis. I was able to get to the battery within 20 minutes.
I was also able to find a battery on ebay. We'll see how assembly goes when it's delivered.
That is great, do you have the link to the battery on ebay?
Did you also have the same issues with random shutdowns, not being able to restart unless on the charger etc?
Keep us posted!
Thanks.
I confirm that disassembling the watch is pretty easy and quick, the only thing is you can say goodbye to the waterproof!
@sirdizzle415, does it come with the sealing? Please keep us updated if it does fix the reboot issue and if can even share the link
I only found 1 used....

I wouldn't trust it to be waterproof anymore, but I'm mostly ok with that. If this watch survives a little while longer with a used $25 battery, I'd call that a win over buying another $300+ watch.
I should be getting the new battery tomorrow, should be pretty quick to put it back together. We'll see what happens.
FYI, My new battery is still in route, so haven't had a chance to test it. It is available brand new on ebay though... If anyone wants to give it a try, the link is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Wa...1e1230fc8:m:mALL_k1FrV1tgtB_vyDJXTg:rk:1:pf:0
Make sure to select the LG-S7 battery for the Watch Sport.
Successful install of the battery! Watch no longer shuts off, and doesn't need to be on the charger to turn on.
I did try to carefully take my old battery apart. Multiple sources mentioned that it can be repaired by soldering a zero ohm link/resistor between two points. I could not identify them on the BL-S7 battery, so I probably won't be doing that.
All in all, it was a $25 dollar battery for me, so not a bad price to pay to extend the life.
I just ordered the one from ebay! That's great it's back in stock!! @sirdizzle415 Yours was a used one?? how did you glue back the back cover?
I know the watch won't be waterproof anymore, but I'm ok with that too.

My existing seal was mostly intact. The back cover also has tabs that snap it back in place.
Placed my order for a new battery.
There is simply nothing else to replace the Sport with LTE currently...unless you like apples.
I just received the new battery!
Results are not so great so far, the watch does stay alive and do not reboot/ shut down randomly anymore.
But after an hour using it to update app, hard reset it, I lost 40%... I didn't charge the battery yet, so I don't want to be pessimistic (yet) but I think my main issue wasn't the battery.
The watch seems too warm to me, probably something wrong with the hardware, other than the battery.
Plus, damn the watch is so slow with the new version of Android wear, so laggy!!
But true there is no better android watch anyway, which is a shame...
It seems that replacing the battery actually fixed the issue! I'm getting now a day and half of battery with only the bluetooth and NFC activated...
The watch is still slow from time to time, I have to tap the screen several time before it actually wakes up.
But for 20 bucks I guess it was the right move.

I think right around this day, I received a Wear OS update that really hurt the battery life... it's been better since, but I definitely remember a day recently when I got an update and battery life was terrible for me.
Just replaced my battery.
Straight forward job, managed to keep the seal in place too.
Watch started up with what little charge was in the new battery, 16%, which is promising, it wouldn't before, and also all the apps /configuration haven't been lost either.
The only disappointment is that the new battery is not actually new.
Okay it may not be used, but it was dated late 2016, actually slightly older than the battery it replaced, early 2017.
See how I get on with it now....
A new battery is a must!
I'm getting a constant 7am until 11pm, 16 hours off cradle, with 50% still remaining, and that is with LTE on all day, including everything else too!
The combination of new battery, and latest firmware updates has just transformed the usage and battery life.
It is a must upgrade!
Hello, I'm from EU, is there any possibility to get new battery now? I looked on eBay and it looks like all are sold out.. :/
