I have an issue whereby some Apps freeze my P1000 (Rooted, stock 2.3.3 ROM) if they are run after the device has been active for some time, but will run without any issue if they are run immediately after the device boots. Notable examples are Amazon Kindle, Google Maps, and Waze.
Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have a solution?
I am using Seeder to keep my system Entropy high, & have modified my sysctl to keep 8M free for the VM (vm.min_free_kbytes - that was a suggestion from one of the Kindle forums). Anyone any suggestions?

I'm running CM7 and I'm happy with how it performs compared to stock rom. I see improvement in battery and memory usage. So that's good.
However, some apps like facebook, maps, tango etc still appear to become active in the background.
Is there an application which will easily let me manage rights for every app I have on the device? I dont want to freeze them, just change their permissions so they never do anything unless I intentionally start an app.
When I was on stock ROM i tried an app killer with auto kill. So i'd kill apps that were displayed. Check back a few minutes later and everything was back running again..
So to sum up..a good app manager that works nicely with CM7?
Edit: i found something called privacy blocker but I think that wont let me prevent apps from running by themselves....
Edit-2: Nevermind, its not going to work I think...reading this made me realise that some apps me be terminated at start-up, but preventing from booting at a later point is near impossible. Too bad. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14889
Just ignore them, Android knows how to manage it's RAM effectively.
If you won´t use some apps, use TitaniumBackup (from Market) and freeze apps you are never using.
Can anybody advice, which system apps and services absolunely safe to remove after rooting?
Or, at least, describe the functions jf system apk's?

I'm a very happy user of Titanium Backup Pro (with other phones) so I immediately installed it to my KFHD after rooting.
I'm now keen to know if anybody did the same and tried "Freezing" apps.
Freeze is a nice way of temporarily removing apps (to first see if everything keeps on working fine), but it is still dangerous because if anything really bad happens preventing a full boot, it would be impossible to run Titanium Backup again and Unfreeze the app.
Any of you had the same idea and tried experimenting a bit?
I would love getting rid of some of the Amazon system apps running in the background...

Of course yes! Me too a very happy and maybe happier a bit user of Ultimate backup (Titanium played some dirty with market links).
And i've tried to freeze safe way.
But some apps like:
- Amazon device client platform,
- Amazon Web runtime
- DRM protected content storage... (I don't use any of amazon services)
I really afraid to experiment untill nandroid will be released for KFHD. That's why was the question.

These are all processes appearing as active (I use System Panel Lite) after a boot.
Anybody knows what these processes are about and if there is anything that can be safely frozen?
I would not mess with many of the Amazon applications at this moment in time.. But there are still some things that can be removed without hiccups.

I have installed dozens of apps on my Galaxy Ace and I think it's becoming too much for the poor device. I found out it frequently reboots because of RAM shortage. I tried killing all running apps, but all the memory-hogging services will just restart themselves, which also drains my battery.
So, is there a way to permanently disable Android services, other than to remove the corresponding apps? I don't need Google Maps running in the background (I don't care for tile caching), nor do I need Google Play to check for updates, yet they are active all the time and consume ~25MB of RAM, which makes the difference between freezing and a snappy phone.
Disable/force stop the apps that you do not use from the manage apps option in settings. If you are rooted, use titanium backup to get rid of apps that you don't use. Remember, do not disable any android system service unless you know what it is. You might get into trouble.

Try this...
Use RAM managers, decrease VM heap size and remove JIT also use root startup managers to avoid apps from starting automatically other then system apps.
try autorun manager..
disable useless apps which constantly runs on background and auto starts after killing.

If you're rooted, then you could try Android Assistant or All-In-One Toolkit (both free), there's an option to disable specific startup apps.
You shouldn't be able to change anything regarding the Stock B&N ROM, unless you're rooted. If so, TitaniumBackup fits the bill. You can freeze pretty much all system apps there; including those which you have mentioned. However, this process requires you root your stock ROM, and that you allow superuser access to TitaniumBackup.
The apps you listed should be good to freeze, however I've not tested much with the stock ROM; so I would take caution. I'm unsure that "Home" cannot be frozen safely; I would assume that's a key process, which interacts with the user. Of course, all in the name of testing, I don't know.

I don't think there is a safe way to disable them, i have tried a bunch of apps and most don't allow freezing and if i disable them I get reboot loops.

After some work and running into multiple roadblocks, I was finally able to flash the new CM 11 rom and get off that terrible stock KFHD OS. However, I am running into a couple further issues with apps crashing. Some frequently crash, while others crash immediately upon startup. I'm not sure if it's because they are not optimized for tablet use or what. I've never run into problems with my HTC One (M7) using them.

I think I've run into a couple others, but they are apps that I don't really care about. Anyone else had similar issues, or experience using any of these apps with CM on the Kindle Fire HD? I've attached a screen of my tablet info, as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
