Hi, I bought a phone in the states, apparently it was unlocked but I guess it's not.
It's rooted, it has busybox installed.
I've installed the rom pa_n7000-3.56-27MAI2013-063155.zip (paranoid android) and after doing it, the phone asks for the sim unlock code which I have not. I've read plenty of threads and Galaxy S Unlock seems the way to go. I followed the steps but it wouldn't work.
Step 1: Save actual efs folder? after clicking yes i get the messate "One efs save exists, for made new save, delete or rename it." I click Ok and then i head on to step 2.
Step 2. Sim Unlock: change lock-bytes for unlock.. Sim unlock? click yes and after a while the phone goes black (not turned off, just like when it's idled, So I press a key, and it shows the Galaxy_S Unlock saying "Done: If the signal work: use step 3, if the signal don't work: restart your phone and use step 3. (Some of the times I've tried it, the program goes black and says "Galaxy S Unlock is not responding.. wait /stop)
Honestly I don't know if the signal worked, but I've tryied both options and still, everytime time I reboot the phone it asks for the sim unlock code.
Any idea that I could try for fixing the issue? Thanks a lot.

I've been trying to unlock my friend's phone, but it appears he's tried an incorrect code too many times and thus it does not give him the option to type in the network unlock code after putting in a foreign SIM. How do I go about using the Unfreeze code sgux.exe gave me?
From what the thread states you need to flash to a nandroid backup and retry. If that doesn't work you might need to Odin one click back to stock. The best way to do it is use a separate Sim card, because I couldn't get the alternate method to work without a Sim card. Not saying it can't be done because there are steps to do so, I just didn't see how to figure it out. I bought a Sim from T-mobile for $10.

Just a note for people who's code might not work. The samsung I have had freezed from previous trials but the phone does not display that it froze or any other msg. so when we got the network unlock code (which is what this tool showed) it did not work but the phone did not display anything other than this code is wrong.
So I tried the unfreeze code for the heck of it, and then the unlock code and it worked."

Thanks for the post, I'll PM him to see how he entered the code exactly
any ideas?
I had frozen my Tmobile Vibrant by entering an unaccepted unlock code three times in a row.
I'm not exactly sure which of these steps resulted in a successful unfreeze, but was able to unfreeze the phone twice:
- Remove SIM and reboot phone
- enter *7465625*638*# and relock the phone to another network other than the one u have u'r sim card (eg 22610) using the 'unlock code'
- enter *7465625*638*# and relock the phone to another network other than the one u have u'r sim card (eg 22610) using the 'unfreeze code'. You won't get any message that it was unlocked, just a bad code message.
- Reboot phone.
And it unfreezes the phone...

When you say it unfreezes the phone, do you mean that you are then able to enter unlock code?
I just bought a HTC G1 from an ebay user from USA.(I'm from Romania)
I did a hard reset on the phone and now when I put a sim I need to enter the unlock code and can`t turn wireless on if I chose not to enter the unlock code.
Are there any option on how to unlock the phone without the code, or to get past the 'fresh start' screen?
Two things you can do:
1st, contact the user back that sold you the G1. Ask them to obtain the unlock code from T-Mobile (USA) to send to you.
2nd, you can obtain the unlock code yourself by purchasing the unlock code from one of the site.
There are no option to unlock the phone without the unlock code. (as far as I know)
And what about the activation screen? how can i get past it?
Once you get the unlock code and put it in. You can activate your google account with your data plan. You might have to setup your APN setting thou.
Another thing you might or have to do is downgrade and root your phone. Then flash the custom ROM of your choice.
Done unlocking & activating, now it keeps restarting, what can I do? Also the battery lasts 1 day max
// also the screen remains black when I try to unlock (sometimes)

First you want to find out if you are still on stock or you have a custom ROM on your G1.
If you have stock, then you have to root your G1 first.
If you phone has a custom ROM then you G1 has already been rooted. You can load other ROM that you want.
I tried to update to 1.6 but it says error line 1 etc. all the time.
Please help
I`m on stock & when I try to root it says to force close app
Also, i`m running android 1.5 & marketplace is beta & I can`t see all the stuff
Ohh! Boy here we go. You'll need to downgrade to RC29 (since your G1 is from US). Don't worry about the unlock. Once unlocked it stay unlock.
First you want to get ADB setup on your PC and have it setup with your G1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719
Once you have that going then you can start with the downgrading to RC29. After you have downgraded, you will have to go through the activation screen again.
Once the activation screen is done, then you can do the rooting process.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-root-the-htc-g1dream/
After you have rooted, then you can flash the custom ROM.
Done, the phone is rooted but now I have some other issues with it.
First, my earpiece dosen`t work
Second, my screen sometimes dosen`t come 'back to life' when I try to unlock it

this problem
Can anyone help me?
So I would like to tell you how to unclock your Samsung Mini/Gio/Ace and others.
1) What you need is to Root your phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noshufou.android.su&hl=lt
If your phone is rooted you can skip this section. By the way if you are not sure is your phone rooted. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=lt This will tell you is your phone rooted or not.
2) Download BusyBox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=lt When you open it will ask you for Permission just press Allow.
3) Download Galaxy Ace Unlock http://www.4shared.com/file/WO-CmYsA/Galaxy_Ace_Unlock.html This is different version. Which works for most of the Samsung Phones. Do Not Download this from Google Play because it won't work then.
4) Open Galaxy Ace Unlock press Unlock it will ask you do you want to unlock your phone press Yes. Then it show you at least 3 or 4 Codes. Ignore zeros. Just put your codes on the paper or somewhere where you can see them.
5) Put unsupported sim card in your Samsung switch it on and it will ask you put the code. So you just pop in the code which you get from Samsung galaxy ace App. If it fails try different code.
For your Safety , DO NOT PUT WRONG CODE TWICE BECAUSE IT MAY BLOCK YOUR PHONE EVERY TIME PUTING CODE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RESTARTED YOUR PHONE.
If you have any questions or problems just ask me I see what I can do.
And Sorry For My English I am Lithuanian.
First off: I am a noob, both here and when it comes to rooting/flashing/etc. I am speed-learning out of necessity LOL
I cant seem to unlock my phone's sim card pin no matter what I do... I have a Samsung Galaxy S gt-19000M, it was purchased in Canada and used for years on the Bell Aliant network. I have now moved to Belgium and would like to use this phone with Base network here. I love this phone and would prefer to not have to buy a new one
But of course when I put in a local sim card it asks for a pin code and Bell Alliant refuses to give it to me.
So I rooted the phone with SuperOneClick, and put on busybox (I thought it was installed through SuperOneClick but the galaxy_s unlock app was complaining of busybox errors), terminal emulator, root file browser and titanium backup.
So far I have tried:
-> galaxy_s unlock app
Result: it looked like it worked but no dice
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7776555#post7776555
-> Hex edit
Result: still asking for pin code after reboot
-> SGS Unlock Tool apk
Result: cant find codes
-> generate unlock code for windows
Result: errors if my phone is connected to the PC, if I copy nv_data.bin into the folder and run it like that it gives me a code that did not work (20404)
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8942669&postcount=94
-> attempted setting the pin to "12345678" (it asked for 8 digits)
Result: the inserted pin didnt work
GalaxSim still says it's locked and sounds like the pro version would work but I cant try any paid apps since the only sim card it accepts doesnt have an account attached to it anymore so I have no compatible sim card with a phone account that could be used to pay for an app...
So....... 2 of 3 pin attempts used up and not sure what to do short of a full factory reset >_<
I then did a factory reset, doesn't reset the pin code attempts (of course), galaxy_s unlock and sgs unlock tool still wont work
Now I downloaded a factory rom and am considering to learn how to flash the phone >_>
Fingers crossed I don't brick it!
My question: Am I missing something?
Did I skip something really noobishly obvious?
Please someone tell me I made a stupid mistake and make this all go away!!
Please? >_>
EDIT:
Ok so I'm a noob alright... I think I have been trying stuff for the wrong model -_-
Which means this is probably posted in the wrong forum section too, I'm sorry...
Back to square one I go
I just unlocked bootloader and the settings were wiped. Now I cannot get past Sprint's Hands Free Activation. I do not have an active SIM card and there is no way to access anything at all on my phone except Emergency Call. I have tried removing the SIM card but to no avail. I cannot use any part of the phone.
If you are not on Sprint, when the hands-free activation is trying to do its thing, press the "try to place an emergency call" button, and on the dialer enter *#*#4636#*#*, then on the network options list choose CDMA only and go back. Hands free activation will fail and the first time setup will continue. After that is completed, you can choose the GSM option back. Also, sometimes when you turn your phone on the hands free activation will appear again but now you can dismiss it.

I managed to get an OS on...but not a functional one. I used adb-sideload to get a ROM on (and have tried several) but they all have the phone infinitely rebooting and I cannot figure out why. Any ideas?

Enter your custom recovery and wipe /data, /cache and /system, then flash the latest radio from here, and finally reboot into fastboot and flash a zip RUU, follow these instructions.
excellent it worked like charm
I get "signautre verify fail" on the radio step. A quick Google search suggests this means the bootloader is locked-but it isn't
