Gsmarena shows that there are two versions of P990(not P999 G2X), one with HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 and the other with HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100. I have a P990, but the box is missing. I wanted to use the phone on WIND(AWS only) and so wanted to know whether there is anyway of knowing whether the phone supports 1700(AWS) frequency from the phone itself(maybe some dialer code). I know I can do it on my Vibrant by going into the service mode.
There is only one P990, but there is a P990h that supports 850/1900/2100
The only AWS one is the G2X/Wind O2X.

I thought the same initially, but was a bit confused after I saw gsmarena showing the phone supporting 1700 3G band.....does anyone have a P990 with AWS frequncy support..
I read this thread while Googling and made an account to ask a question because now I am really confused.
So if I buy the P990 from Asia, will it work on Wind/Mobilicity? GSMArena says it has the 900/1700/2100 bands (LG site says P990 supports Edge 900/1700/2100, but what is EDGE?) but this thread says that only the G2X/Wind O2x P999 supports AWS? Is there a difference?
I reckon the 900/1700/2100 bit on GSM Arena is a balls up, although it's not their fault. LG UK's website actually states that they are the WCDMA frequencies for it, but on the box is 900/1900/2100.
EDGE is the 2G frequencies, which are 850/900/1800/1900 on the box.

So pretty much only the T-Mobile and Wind version of G2x/O2x support AWS will work on Wind and Mobilicity.
I am looking into this question of the att note getting lte speeds on t-mobile once their lte is launched on the 1700 aws band -- after t-mobile refarms their 3g/4g to the 1900 band they won from att in the buy out fiasco.
The att i717 note uses the 700/1700 bands for lte on att service.
The tmobile note uses the 1700 band for wcdma (hspa 42?) - not lte on tmo's service.
When all is said and done, will the att note running on tmobile's network get the lte speeds on the reconfigured 1700 band?? :fingers-crossed:

As the title implies, is the htc one dev phone quad band? and if not, is any htc one quad band? of course they are locked down to use certain frequencies and what not to specific carriers.
Thing Im getting at is... if it indeed does have quad band then there is room for devs to find a way for people like me to get LTE on t-mobile and not just 3G. Unfortunately, the devs phone tend to favor ATT and leaves t-mobile hanging when it comes to 4G.

I have been told that when a radio is available then we could flash it. But I haven't been able to confirm this and I too want to know about this. 1700mhz band is what Tmobile uses. This really could be the difference between me getting an S4 and this phone.
I believe that the dev edition out of the box will not support 1700 for TMO but I also believe that is a software limitation and not a hardware one as I believe it is the same hardware as the at&t version.

Dev version has same frequency as AT&T version
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
LTE:
US (AT&T): 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
3G for Tmobile is not supported but I guess 4G is supported because it has AWS
1900 mhz is t-mobile 3G network it will have 3G but no 4G. Unless the devs get there hands on the 1700 soon.
My other question still applies from above. Is this phone indeed a quad band one?

Anyone know for a fact that a radio flash would enable 1700?
I couldn't find exact specs, but the report on ifixit (can't post link) tells that there is a Qualcomm MDM9215M Communications Chip for GSM/UMTS/LTE. The other chip TriQuint TQM7M9023 is for Quad Band usage, GSM etc.
I am trying to find out, which Frequencies this chip supports.
I want to buy the US Dev Edition 64GB for use in Europe and I am still hoping that flashing a new radio rom is a work-around to get it working everywhere.
Maybe somebody has already done it?

It's actually 7-band (700/850/900/AWS/1800/1900/2100)... but not all bands are available for all technologies. Here is what you get:
HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz - This will give you 3G support on AT&T and MAY give you 3G/4G support on T-Mobile, but only in the limited areas where T-Mobile has already migrated their 1900MHz spectrum to HSPA+. In most areas, their 3G/4G service is limited to the AWS band which the HTC One Developer Edition only supports for LTE.
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz - This will give you 2G/2.5G support on pretty much every GSM provider.
LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz - This will give you 4G LTE support on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Hi, T-mobile uses band 4 via 1700/2100. Also the 3G support. And tmobile HSPA must use 1700/2100 BOTH or it wont work which makes T-mobile 3g unavailable till 1900 is completed.
But perhaps when it says "AWS" maybe it means band 4 ? is that what your referring to? if so I stand corrected. Then again, LTE 4G is in so little places now.. lets not compute it -_-

Hi everyone !
I came here because I'm about to buy an HTC One 801N Red (which I suppose is imported from the UK) but I'am unsure of its compatibility with Canadia carriers, in particular mine (Fido).
Fido's network uses 850/1900 Mhz for GSM, UMTS, HSPA & HSPA+ and 2100/2600 Mhz for LTE. The phone is advertised on Amazon as supporting 850/900/2100 Mhz for 2G & 3G HSDPA and 800/1800/2600 Mhz for 4G LTE.
Does supporting only one band for each service (850 for 2G/3G and 2600 for LTE) enough? Will it causes problem with using the data network?

So, from this post, I understand it seems to be compatible. My question was about how many bands it needs to support in order to work effectively. Is one band enough, or should it support both (850/1900) in order to work best?

It depends on your carrier's network coverage. They may have predominantly 850mhz with 1900mhz towers in remote/legacy areas, or the other way around, or a mix.
So you could be buying a phone that works everywhere you go, or not at all.
So after the denim update, AWS (aka 1700/2100 or LTE Band 4) support for the icon(929) became available, and because of this I purchased the Icon and I love it. However I live in Canada and have a month to month plan with Mobilicity. I guess I didn't do my research well enough (I'd like to think the internet was a bit misleading but....i guess its matter of perspective). Mobilicity solely rely on the AWS band frequency. They don't offer LTE but instead use HSPA . I knew that already but I figured that since AWS was supported I could receive HSPA signal over the 4G radio but nope I was wrong.
So I guess there are enough distinct differences between HSPA on AWS and LTE on AWS enough for them to be not cross compatible? Is this a hardware "issue" or a firmware/software one that I could do something about? Is it possible to enable 2G/3G/HSPA over the 4G radio? Or maybe I can get it to work by setting the APN correctly? I looked at some phones specs over on GSMArena which do offer HSPA + LTE support over AWS, I really want to say that it seems unlikely that 2 or more pieces of hardware are required to offer 2 services on what is essentially the same frequency.
