Menu button/ lack of - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Question about the lack of menu button.
So before buying the phone I I check into it and found out it used the 3dots and not a menu button like other androids.
Also found the back button long press as menu hack.
I have that install but I am still having problems and got questions.
First what do you do when the app your on doesn't have the 3dots?
Xda app doesn't have it to make a new thread. Also found a few of my older apps don't have it either.
Next the problem.
80% of the time when I press and hold the back button it just goes back. Or it will go back and then open the 3dot menu.
Is there any way to fix this or map the menu to long press home?

You can use Elemental X kernal and have the HTC logo as a menu button that's what I use and it works a treat. Are you on a custom OS as if you are you may have flashed something with the 3dot away mod explaining why you never see it?

Stock rooted tmobile Rom.
Xposed mod for back button.
And I don't truly like custom kernels. Had problems in the pass and had to update them weekly

That kernal is stable and doesn't require updating every week so it's a good option for you

+1 for elemental X. It's great. What about if you download pie control from the play store and set a menu control that way? I used to use the back button method but find it doesn't work half of the time. HTC logo2menu from custom kernels work 100%

If you prefer to avoid custom kernel, then use a Rom based on 4.2.2 as these allow long press home to be enabled for menu

Thanx for the information.
I'll try the pie control for now. And look into the 4.2 Roma and kernel.

I'm so dumb. If you use the hack it hides the menu. Never knew that since I rooted and install the Xposed hack hrs after having the phone.

Volume wakup for stock rom?

I'm using the official htc stock rom (sense 3.6) and I was wondering if we can use the volume buttons to wakeup the phone. Is there a tweak or an app for this that really does work?
Anyone any ideas?

You can try this
Made for ARHD, might work for stock, make a backup just in case

Go to the Development section and take a look at the XS-ICS 2.2 Kernel. It works great with thr stock ICS ROM and has the Swipe to Wake feature. When it is in sleep mode you can swipe across the touch buttons to wake it up. You can also swipe it right to left to put it into sleep mode. It is a great feature.
@eRadicant:
I see that there is a zip file. I assume that you have to install it with 4ext recovery.
But my phone is back to stock. So I'm not rooted, no revcovery and relocked. So I can't install the zip file (I think).
@tpbklake :
don't know if the XS-ICS 2.2 kernel is stable enough. I'm reading that there are still some issues.
So I wanted to try this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285187
But I don't have the classes.dex file. So I think I'll just give up and wait for the Nik's transformer.

[Q] power saver off

How to disable the power saver off in notification bar? Permanently preferred. That one is really annoying.
Thank you
If you long press it after dragging down notification bar, then click on 'App Info'.
Then click force stop it and it should disappear from notification menu. But I think when you reboot phone it will appear again unfortunately

Yes, I used this method, but the problem is it will appear once again when the battery is low no matter whether you reboot or not.

If you're rooted, you can use the JMZ Power Saver remover app from the Play store.
If you're unrooted, the Force Closed method is your only option at this time.
I read this was fixed with the latest 4.2.2 ROMs...

Just wait for the 4.2.2 update or flash a 4.2.2 rom.

I already root my device, and used a custom ROM. I will wait for 4.2.2. Thanks folks.

yea 4.2.2 solves this issue but since it just came out none of the custom roms have any of their mods and changes incorporated so like most people i'm probably going to wait until i can flash all my stuff over.

Any mod for removing 3 dot menu.?

Is there any mod available to remove 3 dot menu and assign it to some button? I tried looking in forum but didnt found anything.

install a custom 4.2.2 sense rom or a kernel with those options
Actually dont want to install any rom.... Just looking for a mod, if there is, any....

are you on 4.2
Xposed mod will give you long press back for menu and hide the 3 dot menu.
But I must say it doesn't work all the time.
Then there is logo2menu hack but you need a custom kernel.
Also try pie control from the market. Then you can swipe the side of the screen for the menu. Use pie control with the Xposed hack.

[Q] Lost screen capture feature after installing GPE ROM

I recently unlocked and Rooted my AT&T HTC One. I decided to install the Google Play Edition ROM and after doing so I lost the capability to capture a screenshot. Is this normal? Did I install it incorrectly or Do i need to install an aftermarket screen capture app?
Thanks in advance!
isn't it the same as Sense 5 Edition?
I was running stock GE or ARHD GE w/o problem
It should be Vol- & Power together also
Thanks for the reply keystang. Volume power is not bworking for me.

Either do
Hold Power slightly before pressing Vol-
or
Hold power slightly before pressing home
both work for me on 4.2.2
Redbull123 thanks... Still not working. Was I supposed to install something else? Or should I re install the ROM?

Reflashing the Rom is the best posibilty for now, you won't use any data any way when choosing not to wipe.
Tell us if problem still exists after that.
Konstidee, thank you for replying. I'm new to the rootng / ROM world and I don't mean to sound ignorant but how would I flash the ROM? Is reflashing the same as reinstalling?

Just do it like u did when u installed the rom for the first time.
I had the same issue. Apparently, it's much easier to do it on sense than Google play. You have to press lock and volume down at the exact same time and hold for like 2 seconds. Once you get it the first time, it won't be so hard.

Spark plugs. Thank you!!! I feel like an idiot! This was purely operator error.

if it is for stock ROM i will ask why you would need to do that?
I have the same question, is a bit tricky to press home and power button to take a Screenshot everytime, and im om Stockrom becuase i like it =P
i have a rooted SIII Mini, there is a way to add the Screenshot menu ?
Yes it is possible but no one's gonna bother with that cause most of us are using Vanilla version of Android.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=how to add screenshot to power menu 4.1.2
just used the search and this is what i found
i can help you to do it, but i won't be adding this feature to any of my work
It is hard to make flashable zip or addon to our device specially all stock rom base?,i think it is a good feature.
