On the One X it was done by deleting a file in root. I'll try to dig that out.
EDIT : Here you go
1. Use Root Explorer and head on over to System/App
2. Mount as r/w from r/o if you haven't
3. Delete HtcSyncManager.apk
4. Reboot and Enjoy

The version attached below will play in HQ by default.
Install through adb:
Code:
adb remount
adb push YouTube.apk /system/app
adb reboot
Install through Astro, or similar:
Code:
Place the file on your sdcard
Open Astro
Find YouTube.apk on your sdcard -> Click & Hold it -> Edit -> Move
Go to /system/app directory
Menu -> Edit -> Paste
Reboot your device
Enjoy!

Sweet. Thanks a lot.
getting the hang of using adb, worked like a charm.
thank you!
Glad to help
not sure what I did wrong but I couldn't get this to work. I didn't do ab method cause I rarely have access to a computer. did astro way and it wouldn't allow me to paste on system / app. I used Linda and that allowed me to copy / paste. I rebooted and tried YouTube but got same ole normal quality. I took a a look back at system / app and saw that YouTube apk was indeed there and it was. LOL this seems so simple and really isn't a huge deal but would be really nice for me to get this to work

Go with the ADB method, it'll work. Make sure you push, not install, install will fail with a message to the effect of same version already installed.

installed it last night, it actually makes the YouTube app worth using. where did you get the apk from?

If using astro or any other file manager you have to turn on the root settings. Also setup the SU and then mount the system via the app. I use ES File Explorer. Works great, in sure.

I did it with root explorer but when I rebooted the App was missing all together. Not listed in app drawer. I will give adb a shot but my adb drivers are all jacked.
Thanks for the apk.

[Q] IncS - How To disable the Noise Cancellation

I don't know if anyone knews this:
the Incredible S is unable to be used as a Hands Free Set with the Ear Piece Cabel plugged in.
I use my phone to make calls while driving. The Phone is connected via an adapter to the car audio kit and I wanna use the interal microphone.
Now, the internal HTC Noise cancellation blocks my voice... bad idea.
HTC don't want to help me.
On Nexus One, we have had the same problem, but we found out, that we can change one value in the build.prop to disable the noise cancellation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700958
Now I've searched the build.prop about this value, but I can't find it. Can anybody help me?
EDIT:
OK,
I've figured it out! ROOT IS REQUIRED!!!
You can fix this with root explorer or any application like this.
1. Navigate to the system folder
2. open the build.prop with an text editor
3. Search this line
htc.audio.alt.enable=1
Click to collapse
4. and change it to the follow (yes, it's only switching from 1 to 0 - enabled to disabled)
htc.audio.alt.enable=0
Click to collapse
5. save this as build.prop
6. reboot
7. ready
I want to know it too. But have you try adding that statement to the build.prop file even if it doesn't exist? I assume your IS is rooted, of course.

Thanks alot...
This is built into CM7 7.1 RC1 and still the mic does not work.
Any other suggestions?

Xperia TX Jelly Bean - Possible solution to wifi connexion issues

Hey,
So after updating the Xperia TX to JB, i have noticed that there is an issue with wifi connexions, meaning that the phone will no longer connect to some access points of software access points (connectify, virtual router, etc...). After entering WPA key, it just says connecting then goes back to previous state.
I fiddled a bit with this and finally compared wlan .ini files from ICS and JB.
If you are having the same problem, a small modification to the .ini file might solve the problem...well in my case it did.
Please note that you need root access to modify this file.
1) Mount system folder as writable using your file manager or root explorer
2) Navigate to /system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima
3) Make a backup of WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini
4) Open WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini and look for g11dSupportEnabled=1
5) Modify it to g11dSupportEnabled=0 and save the file
6) Power off your wifi and Power on again
7) Forget the SSID you've had issues to connect to and try to connect again
and you should be good to go.
To understand the g11dSupport property please refer to here - from wikipedia
if the above did not work, there is another property which has changed:
gEnableFWRssiMonitoring=1 in JB was gEnableFWRssiMonitoring=0 in ICS
You may wanna try that.
works on tx build .67
before i changed this damn 1 to 0 i couldn't connect to my wireless modem !
but now its ok.
tnx:good:
great it worked!! pressed thanks..

Make sure you have root access and that system is mounted as R/W
If you have root, you can usually remount in your file manager application (File Manager or ES explorer). Check in settings

There must be something wrong with your RW access if you cannot modify the file.
Try this:
1) Copy the said file to your SD card
2) Connect your phone as Mass Storage
3) Using and Editing software like Notepad ++ open the file and make the changes and save the file
4) Go back to your File Manager and rename the existing file (the one in the root folder)
5) Copy the modified file from your SD card to the correct location
If copying or renaming the file fails, means you dont have Read/Write access to the root folder.
I am also using xperia tx and although my wifi doesnt disconnect , it really makes my phone lag a lot while I am using wifi...should I also try this method ?

If you have root access you may try it. Though i don't know if it will solve it. The wifi problems are very eratic. Most of the issues depend on the access points being used and their settings.
Try it and keep us posted.
Don't forget to make a backup of the file before modifying.

I just rooted my phone today and after mounting the system to r/w on root explorer, my phone restarts suddenly.
Search for and flash the reboot fix. It's a known issue

Silent Camera

Requires Root
Requires ADB
Requires USB Debugging to be enabled
Make sure you backup!
APPS AND PROGRAMS (WINDOWS):
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480429
Install Google Play Apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477702
Google Play apps needed:
- SuperSU or SuperUser
- Busybox
ADB File Explorer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1772338
DOWNLOAD:
Modded camera: AMII firmware (original apk is in Restore folder)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Root your device
2. Install SuperSU or SuperUser and Busybox via Wondershare MobileGo
3. Use Droid Manager (Start Device Manager -> File Manager) and browse to /system/media/audio/ui
4. Create a new folder (Right click -> New -> New Folder)
5. Right click any sound file (you can ctrl+select multiple files) you do not want and select Move -> Move
6. Go into the folder you created and right click -> Move -> Paste
7. Open Windows explorer and copy apk
8. Paste into /sdcard/download
9. Move into /system/app (it will overwrite with no warning)
Note: keep an eye on the watch as it will popup a few times with messages (eg. grant root, grant adb access)
Media files to delete/rename/move (/system/media/audio/ui):
Auto_focus.ogg
Cam_Start.ogg
Cam_Stop.ogg
Shutter.ogg
I tried to make it as easy as I could for all of you
Alternatively, you can use root explorer and Google keyboard to move/rename/delete on your watch itself
Alternative Solutions:
- Hold finger over speaker

Just like Samsung phones, the sounds are both in the ui folder and inside the apk. You need to replace apk to stop remaining sounds. So in short, yes it gets rid of the sound

copy and paste with droid manager. also if i deleted the camera apk if wont let me copy another one in the system/app i guess i will reset and try again unless there's a way to restore the original without resetting the watch.

Sounds like you have a permissions problem? Do you have root? Perhaps try replacing on device with root browser (or similar)

Try this out - in Dev options (settings), tap "Select USB configuration", change it to "charging", back out all the way to home screen, and then, go back and change to MTP, and back out to home screen - see if that helps.
