I haven't been able to find stock .img files for anything...
Most especially need a stock boot.img and a stock recovery.img
It would nice to have all of them though. Where can these be found?
Yes i also would love those files, or another way to get my phone COMPLETELY back to stock. Recovery and everything... if possible
I could use a stock boot.img as well... that is the correct size to flash with fastboot.

Koush has the the stock boot.img: http://koush.tandtgaming.com/samsung/crespo/
But it wont flash with fastboot.
He said we need to truncate it so it will flash via fastoot.
Anyone knows how to do this?

Yeah, I have that one as well. But it doesn't work with fastboot. It's too big. I'm going to wait until someone links the correct boot.img for fastboot.
I just posted a thread with aosp images. The factory images everyone wants aren't available from google yet unfortunately, however the ones I posted should work just fine.
People reported not being able to flash the OTA with your AOSP img's

Will those allow you to update the new OTA update?
I'm pretty sure that is why everyone wants the stock boot.img right now.
edit: Nope that boot.img won't allow you to update, at least not through CWR. I get an error. Also breaks wifi (assuming wifi works if you flash all the .imgs).

I fixed the wifi bug. See my thread's OP. As far as the not being able to update, it's a recovery issue, and nothing to do with the boot.img

Thanks for fixing the wifi on those, but the update still won't flash using this boot.img (sadly) and CWM.
Koush is claiming that we really need the stock boot.img.
To do the update just do the nandroid for it that the other guy posted around here... It works well
here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884416
Worked great! Allowed me to update to 2.3.1.
also this will work:

First off, yes i'm a noob
Secondly, i apologise if this is a question that has already been answered but i swear i've been looking for a good while now and can't find the answer.
Thirdly, if this is in the wrong section then i apologise.
Now that i have that out of the way, onto my problem. I have recently purchased an HTC One and I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, i now want to i try out some custom roms. The trouble i seem to be having is that recovery mode requires you to flash a .zip file but whenever i download a rom, the end product is not a zip file but a folder that contains numerous other files that contain no zip file. I have still copied the folder to the phone but when i try to install through TWRP there is no recognisable zip file.
I have even tried converting said folder and files into a zip file and trying to flash that but to no avail.
I am downloading the files on a Mac, i don't know if this bears any relevance but i thought i should mention it.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Which rom are you trying to flash? and if it is downloaded into folders, surely making them into a .zip should make it flashable via recovery? if not then it's a bad rom?
I've tried several ROMs but the latest one I've tried is ViperOne. Well I thought converting it to zip would work also but no.
I never had this issue downloading or flashing ROMs to my Sensation or S2.

hmm not sure, im running rayglobe v 5.1 at the moment, maybe its a bad build? what recovery are you using?
Save link as
What's happening is your browser is unzipping the file instead of just saving it
Thank you very much for that, such a simple solution but its been driving me mad. I'll have a look and see if there is a setting to stop it from unzipping when it finishes downloading.
Thanks guys.

Hi,
For those of you who don't know , flashing an Aosp source built ROM that was compiled with the command " make otapackage" will break and overwrite your custom recovery (for example Twrp).
But I came up with a fix for it when i saw that Scroler made a script to fix this problem for the Nexus 7 (2013) .
I modified it to work on the Nexus 4.
You only need to flash this in recovery as a zip file just after you flash your ROM.
So for example you would flash your ROM, the Don't_lose_Recovery. zip and after your gapps.
With this script your good to go and you will keep your beloved custom recovery.
Please note that I tested the script with Twrp and not with Clockworkmod recovery since I don't use this one.
Don't forget to hit the thanks button.
Happy flashing.
Link for the script : https://mega.co.nz/#!3wxB2azJ!nBoVqsrDWmfGDHP-egRt_Fwy3b2rRrseMSUPrj1PWzY
Thanks to Scroler for guiding me

Thank you !
Can't you just remove the recovery from the zip....along with the line that flashes it from the updater script?
Its also easy to fastboot a recovery back when no one removes it from zips....

It's not as easy as " if it break something I will remove it and everything will be fine", unfortunately.
But now this fix is built into my rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2931659so there is one less zip to flash.

A clean aosp build will produce the recovery also. Its as easy as deleting it, and the corresponding lines from updater-script or using the git commits to not include it...

Cool story
I've noted that many people that use rom, have problem with the updater script file, because they first need to delete the row of control....so my question is: why the developers doesn't generate the rom files already with modified updater script? We always need to make this process every download, and it's so boring....
Can any developer aswer to my question?
Your post doesn't give much information for what ROM or other zip your flashing, so I doubt anyone can give you any useful answer.

This is not a question this is a rant.
Most developers maintain several devices and nightlies get generated automatically.
You find it boring don't do.
The updater script is necessary so that other devices don't get bricked flashing it.
You could also try Philz recovery which doesn't have this problem

Just use Muniz_ri method then install the NCE flasher apk. Then it'll take you to SS, flash your new ROM or mods or whatever then just flash the OC4 kernel and you're back in the game.

Couldn't you just unzip the Twisted Lollipop ROM .zip file and replace the boot.img that they have with the stock OC4 one, re-zip it up and flash via FF?
Seems a lot simpler...
That's what I did @dorqus and flashed the kernel zip to be safe but after a couple fails found out it will not work unless your lollipop already had to Odin back twice lol but its running good so far 1st boot super long phone got to got for me rebooted and it updated 26 apps and started up fine

So just to be sure, all i need to do is replace the boot.img to the oc4 one and rezip and i should be able to flash it. I'm on 5.0 using muniz method. I'm running alliance 7.1 right now but have been wanting Twi5ted for a while now.

Yep if you want to be safe chase it with the kernel zip too but kernel sway should be sufficient... I'll do a test real quick with mine with just the swapped kernel no extra zip I'll be back with results for ya shortly

A lot simpler than just two flashes? First one when you open the app and it flashes the NCE for you and takes you to safestrap. And the second one is when you're done flashing whatever you want just flash the OC4 kernel and boot back up to your phone.
I've tried FF and it was more complicated for me. Also, not everyone knows how to replace the boot.img like you did. I guarantee you that a lot of don't even know what it is. LOL

Easy now. Lol. I'm still learning myself. I just extracted the OA1 boot loader that muniz uploaded for the "5.0 update and keep root" copied all that was in that folder and placed in the Twi5ted folder and removed the Twi5ted "boit.img" is that not what should be done? I haven't flashed yet.

Downloaded twi5ted v4, unzipped it and extracted the boot.img from the G900A_OC4_Stock_Rooted_Firmware.tar.md5 in the g900a update to 5.0 thread, and deleted the one in the rom zip and replaced it, and rezipped. Upon trying to load it into flashfire I got a crash as someone as the verification got to 100, I tried 4 times, all of them with the same java.lang.outofmemory error, which was confusing cause I have plenty of memory free. I'm giving it another shot, if it works I'll come back here and give a link to the zip for anyone else who wants to do it with some steps that worked for me.

I'm back after attempt number 5, still no dice, it gets to 100% crashes, I'll go ahead and post the zip anyway in case anyone else wants to give it a shot. The exact process I did, was download the v4 zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3037766 then extract it with zarchiver, replaced the boot.img, then zipped it again with zarchiver, and the file size went from 1.25 gb to 1.26 gb. It seems strange this one fails to load but the stock lollipop tar which is double this one's size loads much faster and perfectly fine. If you want to give it a go, download the zip, reboot your phone (to clear out as much memory as possible) and then open flash fire and add the zip as a firmware package, as it won't even show up if you click "flash zip or ota", for me at least. As usual, I'm not responsible if you brick, and can't provide any assurance you won't since I haven't even been able to flash it in the first place.

When you use nice apk it automatically takes your kernel back down to kitkat...so I assume...after your in as and install your ROM..you use oc4 kernel through Odin...am I getting your question right?
