If you search a bit you can find that same question is already asked with same title just a little below your question.
By the way when you start a new thread here on XDA you will always get a recommendation from server that this question or thread is already started by someone.
Reading with opened eyes has many advantages.
And by same person lmfao.

Will rage thee cage method work now that my n1 us unlocked?
Is there a noobs guide to rage the cage? Also I haven't done much research on the radio. Would I need to download something for it? I'm lost as hell. THNKS FRG83
It will still work, but if you're unlocked it's pointless. Flash a custom recovery and use that in install a rooted update.zip (ChainsDD)
The Wiki is a good start, too...

I flashed amon-ra's recovery and once I rebooted I got an android with a "!". The guide I used was on nexusonefourums. It said that if I got that symmbol that I was not rooted. I used modacos frf91 superboot to root. I was told it'd work. Apparently not.
O and now my wifi doesn't work at all. It just says error under settings-wireless.
Easiest way to see if you have root is to download a flashlight app from the market that requires root, and see if it works.
I always understood that the exclamation android guy was because you had stock recovery (I'm sure someone will correct me).

No need, you're spot on. Unless you remove a couple of files, the stock recovery is re-installed.
Thanks for that!
It's been so long since I've seen the lil' exclamation bugger, that I've forgot why he appears!

There is. "Root FRG33/83 without unlock" contains the thread with the explanation, and "SuperOneClick root app" is simple to use. Both in "Guides".
To the OP: Read the Wiki, for God's sake. The questions here come over and over again, and the interesting threads and questions all get lost in the maze of "how to root my phone". There's a guide for flashing recovery, read under "Recovery", and it says - "for unlocked bootloaders". That would save you the trouble of trying to root through rageagainstthecage method, because with unlocked bootloader you don't need any of that. There's also a guide, called "Flashing custom ROMs", at "Guides and Tutorials". That would cover everything you need.
N1 torch asked for super user permission and the full brightness is now working. It wouldnt work without root. So im rooted.... hate to ask it but.... now what? do amon-ra again?
Looking to add CyMod... and whats the deal on the updating my radio? do i need to? I hate being ignorant, but I gotta ask to learn.. Or I could brick my 500 dollar phone.
Pretty sure you're still on stock recovery, so yes, flash Amon Ra or Clockworkmod (if you're on an SLCD screen, only Amon 1.8 or 1.9 will work).
The wiki has instructions, or use Clockworkmod ROM Manager (but read the wiki either way).

Good heads up danger-rat. Downloads most recent radio and updated. I used rom manager and flashed most recent clockwork recovery. Now my next problem is getting cyanogenmod to download through Tom manager. It got 95% complete and said "rom download error. Google Apps: (outside link I can't post because of being a new member)" in my notifications.
Found a manual download site for gapps hdpi. Hopefully I can install it correctly
Try here:

Thanks for the help guys. I'm well rooted with restored GApps. Running CM6. One question though...
My age of conquest apps says that I have not purchased a license and now closes. I have emailed the app developer and haven't gotten a response. Any solution? I have uninstalled and redownloaded and still no fix.

Read it again. Also read what is on your actual phone when in bootloader/fastboot. Or search the forum.

When you read the Wiki, concentrate on "Recovery" / "Installing recovery with unlocked bootloader" guide.

I have flashed CWM via RomManager multiple times, with no problems. You only brick your device if you flash CWM that is for other devices. You can't blame RomManager for your foolishness.
For install CWM via ROM manager you need stock rom with stock recovery and with root????

Well, official CyanogenMod always have this app as the updater but I always uninstall them.
i dont know why the developers include Rom Manager even they know that it won't work and cause bricking problems
CWM supports galaxy mini!!! Dony choose different device.

Help for mini-bricks
Like others, I wish I'd read this post before I hard-bricked my phone :crying:
In my case, I just selected the "Reboot into Recovery" option, where I planned to do a nandroid backup. The screen went black and I was hard-bricked.
Anyway, I thought this might be a good thread to repost the information that restored my galaxy mini to good health.
Remove the battery, SD card and sim card.
Hold down the "Download" key combination - Volume-down + Home + Power.
While continuing to hold all three down, insert the battery (almost impossible without a friend).
Continue to hold all three down, and in about a minute, you should get you into "Download" mode, from where you can use ODIN to re-flash your phone with a stock rom.
If this doesn't work at first, keep trying; I tried it several times without success, took it to a local techo who took it to a big city techo, and it was only when they both gave up that I tried this technique again in desperation - and fortunately this time it worked.
Also, the drama was not quite over yet for my phone. When I tried to flash a stock Gingerbread rom via Odin, it failed.
That was solved by first flashing ARM11boot_GT-S5570.tar (attached) in the "Boot" section (everything else blank except for TASS_V1 ops file, which is included in the standard rom). For more information, see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588892
After that, I successfully flashed stock Gingerbread. And finally installed CWM Recovery properly following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342190&highlight=cwm+recovery
BE WARNED: On the thread about ARM11boot_GT-S5570.tar, there is a warning from kitrax59:
be careful on flashing the bootloader buddy.. it can hard brick your phone.. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK..

Of course, if like me, your phone was already hard-bricked, you haven't got much to lose
Anyway, I hope this helps someone else with a Rom Manager inspired hard-brick!

I'm guessing that a lot of these problems have a similar cause to mine, where I saw a reference to ClockWorkMod Recovery, searched for that on Google Play, and Rom Manager was the only relevant result returned.
There is an excellent guide to installing CWM Recovery by Bunnybugs_007 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342190
Just wondering if there is a "sticky" function on xda? Making threads such as this one and Bunnybugs' more prominent would save a lot of heartache and hard bricks.

If you used ROM manager and bricked your device. Theres no way. Give it to the service center and they would replace the motherboard.
Hah I flashes cem recovery via ROM manager nothing happened .....maybe I was lucky cause I first installed it via of in and then via ROM manager just to see what happens ....

Hi all,
I have problem with rooting of my moto.
I had finally found solution to bring recovery into phone by this thread (any other didnt work)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2166646
Then I try zip from mattlgroff thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123369,
in recovery is writen that flashing is complete, but after reboot there isnt any superuser application in drawer so it seems that phone isnt rooted.
I have XT890 JB, retail.en.EU, bootloader unlocked
Do you know where can be problem, or what Iam doing wrong?
Thanks in advance
Hmm, dunno. Maybe reinstall the zip a second time? Otherwise, u can always use a pre rooted ROM from the development section

Alright im not new to flashing roms, I am unlocked, s-off and have a custom recovery, the other day I wanted to try a CM11 rom, everytime i tried to install the rom on my phone through TWRP it would fail, after reading up on a few threads, I decided to upgrade my firmware and change to clockwork mod recovery. after doing that i was able to install the cm11 rom, i used the rom for a few days and decided i like sense roms more so I wanted to install viper rom like i have a million times before without issue. clockwork mod would not allow me to install viper rom, so I switched back to TWRP through i believe it was rom installer from the play store, it asked to install busybox after, and i believe it said something about switching mounting points, I said yes like an idiot not knowing what I was doing, anyway now i am at the point where TWRP is on my phone, i cannot ruu back to stock because it is failing at 4% giving me an error, and when i fastboot install it i get (bootloader) read zipped android info fail
FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail) CHECK THE PICTURES
I have tried relocking bootloader then running the ruu zip though fastboot, didnt work, I have tried a nandroid backup, that didnt work either. When ever i install any roms now, they act like they install just fine but when the phone boots up, it runs me through the startup wizard, and from there the phone just keeps getting phone dialer force close about half way through, and from there it will boot loop after and acts like it is setting up the phone everytime, Any body have any ideas of what I did to mess this up, or how to fix it??

Hmm alright I'll try that and report back my findings, did you also notice in the bootloader menu pic where is says OS, there is nothing after that, I was reading through other peoples Help forms for an answer, and they have version numbers and all that, where I just recently noticed mine is just blank after it says OS.
My OS field is also blank; no issues with that.

Wow!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!! the radio was the problem, after installing it, no more bootloops on any roms. Thank you.
