Hi guys,
I recall seeing in a thread that it was possible to revert from HTC's recent apps to the stock vanilla type by deleting a file. Not sure if i am remembering this wrong but is it possible? Not a fan of the HTC recent apps and closing each app one by one.... pretty crappy imo.
THanks!

This can be done if your phone is rooted. Atleast it works on mine (Rooted and running ARHD 12.2 with stock kernel). Look for the fields 'isHtcStyleRecentApp' and 'support_HtcStyleRecentApp' in '/system/customize/ACC/default.xml' and change their values to 'false'.

You can't kill them any other way than one by one on the stock recent apps so other than the look being vertical instead of 9 cards, you will still have to swipe them away one by one.

True. I personally like the 9 card HTC style, except that it doesnt have a kill all button. I have made a small mod which adds a kill all button to the HTC recents app screen. This is an Xposed mod so it needs the Xposed framework to be installed. I am using this and its working fine on ARHD 12.2 . I am not sure about others ROMs but it should work on all sense based ones.
Install instructions.
1. Install Xposed framework.
2. Install the apk.
3. Enable it in Xposed installer.
4. Reboot.
If it doesnt work on your device please let me know. I ll look into it.
As always, take a backup before trying this out (shouldn't be necessary but just in case).
My issue with the stock multi tasking is you cannot get into the App Info screen from it so you have to take the long way... very annoying that they removed that feature

Is there a ROM available which does not have HTC Sense, and has only Native Clean Andriod in it..
There's no Generic Android rom atm. I'm also waiting + hoping for one.
What about Nexus One ROM? I really digg the UI
If you pay for a premium MoDaCo account, you can cook a MoDaCo rom without Sense UI
I no longer care for Sense. It's great when you have a current Android version, but it creates a big lag-time between new Android release and new HTC rom release.
I wish I had gotten the Nexus One instead.....

I feel you mate. I had the same thought. Looking at how slow HTC were in bringing 2.1 to the Hero, I have a bad premonition that the same gonna happen to the Legend.
And I really like the UI/UX on the Nexus One. Any custom ROM that has Nexus One app launcher, photo app, etc.?
Well I've searched and there's only a few (3 that I could found) custom roms available now, all with Sense. I decided for myself to give it another 2 wks and then, if there's still no clean Android rom, I'm selling my Legend and getting Milestone. And no more HTC phones for me as they only make them with Sense now.

There is a rom available on Modaco without sense.. Espresso
It works very smooth and looks great!

Edit: No, there still is Sense.. Just with extras.
if you hate it so much, why don't you disable it...
well it isn't quite disabling but it will work fine...go to settings application management and find htc sense and click "remove defaults" or so....next time you hit the home button you will be prompted to use sense or android home...if you want to keep the android home, simply hit "make default" in the same window that pops out when you press the home button

Don't think so Michael. I'm prepared to be corrected but I don't think default android apps wiill appear upon deleting HTC custom apps.
I did try to remove the HTCSenseLockScreen.apk and it did not give me the default google lockscreen... it was really strange... the lockscreen did work like the sense one where you drag it down, but no background on it and the text was messed up...
Right now i am playing with the Sense from the MyTouch and that look great...

Yeah they won't, but i would be willing to cook a rom containing the factory legend rom rooted, and with no HTC apps but stock android apps, if someone would be willing to test this method?
i am willing to test... if you want i have the system from the vodafon 2.02.178.2 build.. well it is in the 2.2 tread on modaco from some china dude.. i mean why not use the latest bug fixes also for the rom if it should be..

It's not about hating SENSE, it's about wanting the stock Android because of updates, ie. a better phone. SENSE is great, when it's paired with the latest Android. But when it's used with an older than current version, it creates lag time.
I am going to sell my Legend and get an Nexus One. It's older, but it's still betterish than anything else out there.

I did it this way, deleted allmost every HTC stuff. But if you remove a HTC-app, it will not give you the default android one. You have to get these apps from somewhere. I just thought about creating a rom without that htc stuff.
But i have to say that not every htc app is crap. Some apps are better than the android one.
Have you tried removing Rosie?
Any problems afterwards?
I have made a sense free (ish) Rom, there is still some slight differences like the black bar on top.
But it still beta, i will upload it tonight or tomorrow
EDIT :
Deffo tomorrow, i am too tired to keep working
I'm running 3.0, preview 4, and I had a question about the long press. On every video online, the long press on the home screen allows you to go into a screen that has apps on the bottom, and a display of all your home pages on top. In addition, there's a while boarder around each home page (that you can see when you scroll). Not only do I not have the thin white line boarder around the pages, but when I long press, it acts like 2.2 where it gives you a menu for widgets, shortcuts, etc.
What do I need to do to get the long press option everyone else has? Is that launcher pro, or am I just simply overlooking a simple setting?
Thanks everyone.

Sounds like you are describing the stock launcher, which I use. I am not sure if it is different with deeper blues build, if that is what you are running. I am running HC on emmc version 2. I thought the two were basically the same, however.

What's weird is I have the same version as this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CEC0fcfbpM
...and yet, I don't have the +apps button on the top right, nor the boxes around each home screen which can be seen when he swipes between them, or the long press widget screen. It almost feels like mine acts more like Froyo with a pretty layer of HC on top. To confirm, mine is Deeper Blue's Preview V04.

Same stock launcher that I have. You may try to reinstall the Rom with a new image.
Do you know good instructions here to download a version of 3.0 that installs internally and that's over clocked but has the launcher shown above? (IE: yours)?
Thanks man.

So, if I read your post correctly, are you saying you now want to go with Honeycomb with an internal build, to the eMMC?
If so, then you need to check out samuelhalff's thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947071
I have been running that build since it first came out and loving it.
Sam's build will give you the stock launcher you see in the YouTube video you posted earlier. You should have also gotten that with the SD build from deeper-blue, but I have never run that version of HC, so cannot verify with certainty.
If any issues, you can always PM me and I will help you where I can (from a user perspective, not dev).
Good luck!
Quick question. I'm trying to over clock my 3.0 HC system, and in the instructions on Androidtablets.net says I need to find a program called Rom Manager to boot from. Where is this? I can't find it.
EDIT: Ok I'm dumb, it's an app... just trying to get it to install successfully. Thanks for dealing with a noob .
Ok, I'm trying to put clockwork recovery on there (since I didn't understand I needed to do that.. duuuhhrrrrrr). I downloaded the zip file, and put it on my SD card. I booted up Rom Manager, and hit Flash Clockworkmod recover. Then clicked Nook (old). However, it says 'An error occurred when attempting to run privileged commands!'.
Did I miss a step somewhere? Hopefully this is a slightly less embarrassing question . Thanks!
UPDATE: Unfortunately I have had to abandon this project, please accept my apologies.
I would like to introduce a little project I'm going to be starting, my first attempt at an App for android, one which will bring added functionality to the stock launcher on rooted devices.
Having tried a lot of different launchers, I actually prefer the stock launcher, for all but one thing which is the way it sorts Apps in the app drawer. The stock launcher sorts apps by name like most other launchers, but it splits them into System Apps and Downloaded Apps, so it can be hard sometimes finding the app you want.
My App is going to provide a way of sorting the Apps how you want, without modifying the stock launcher, so that it can last between updates.
My main aim is to provide a simple interface to pick how you want the Apps sorted, primarily alphabetical, ignoring whether they are system apps or downloaded apps.
You could do this by moving apps around manually but it would take a long time, so the idea is to automate this process.
While I work on the base of the app, I would like feedback on what other ways you would like the apps to be sorted, so that when you open the app, you can pick from different options as to how to sort the apps.
I look forward to reading some of your input.

good luck. I'd add:
1. Most used
2. Last updated
3. Recently installed
4. Also if it is possible add search bar on the first page
All these options are available in GoLauncher. So if you refer to that you know what I am asking

Great,
But can you even add or mod the default tasker like when we long press home key at the bottom it takes us to task manager where we have to kill all unwanted application one by one, can you add a kill all button to that it wwould be amazing if you can do that.
By the way thanks a ton.

obviously u dun have htc phone..
lg's contacts and phone is ugly. plain and simple.. join feature is ineffective.. stock icons are lame.. lockscreen is LAME and slow and buggy with faceunlock.. if u manually join contacts, u cant edit the name.. and the names can be random and wrong..
themes are jus 4.. and ugly.. weather is ugly.. its slow..
list is too long.. lg made an epic device.. *WAAYYY BETTER THAN ONE X* but ****ed up with the software..
I like the launcher but this is annoying, nobody wants to.continue this? I think it would probably be easier to just mod the launcher itself

Ok guys and gals. Had my htc one for a few days now. Unlocked the bootloader today, installed twrp custom recovery so far and running stock.rom at the moment. Now the question i have is:
Like on my HTC Evo 3d you could replace the task buttons on the bottom of the screen up from the soft keys. Im not seeing how to do that now.
Any one have a clue about how to go about this? I removed a few apps and disabled a few for example the stock internet browser. And it took the task icon off the bar but i cant seem to replace it with anything. I am adding a attached screen shot pic for a better idea
I do appoligize if this has already been asked before. I have been the past while trying to make sure it hasnt been

Now, Sense 7 work has been taken over by xpirt, here's his OP link:

All the Recent Developments are on the Last Pages of That Thread So If You Want to Help With the Programming, Please Post There & Here.
I'm on 5.1 Verizon Lollipop Build... Rooted & Stock... Due to instability with most custom roms and 5.1, I'm running stock right now until everyone works out the bugs
KNOWN ISSUES
- Since HTC still decided not to go with 2K screens for the M9. There's still a centering issue when trying to bring the Blinkfeed launcher over for Sense 7... Last time 532 DPI worked great for Nexus 6 with the blinkfeed launcher, however under 5.1 Lollipop it seems that Google changed something with the programming to not accept certain DPI settings causing an "optimizing apps" bootloop. With that said, it does not appear that this is a 100% issue with everyone but just so you are warned and don't get stuck in a "optimizing apps" bootloop, please be careful when changing DPI settings... fully power down, reboot, try creating backups to make sure none of these cause you bootloops. For me, I had to go to 520 DPI now... not as perfect as 532.... but no boot loops. Some experimentation maybe needed on your own. Make sure to do a "full backup" (cache, efs, system, data, etc.) before installing and changing DPI Settings.
- Although You Can Install Without Root Access. Some Functionality MAY REQUIRE ROOT at this point. :crying:
- FitBit & FourSquare apps will cause Feed Content not to Load due to Their Integration into The Real HTC Version. :silly:
- Animations in Weather App Require Separate File to Be Flashed In TWRP or Custom Recovery of Your Choosing
- BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP!!!!! THUS THE NEED FOR ROOT AND CUSTOM RECOVERY!!!
THE FILES
I plan to mirror the files here but for now use the xpirt's thread to get the latest updates:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/htc-blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438
This now includes working HTC widgets (clock widget!!!) including the new locations based home, work & away widgets....
Google+ plugin still seems to cause issues with login... all others work great!
They are working on getting some of other apps working as well (Camera, etc.) and trying to get themes working as well.
Omar1c also has been working on getting some HTC Sense 7 apps up and running for Nexus 6... He had a thread going that came out before Sense 7 was released, so he had to stop work on it. Hopefully now with the release of Sense 7, he will start work back up on it... (He has a working camera, file manager and music!!! but he will have share or give me the OK)
I am keeping the link to the weather animations as it still works with Sense 7 perfectly.
Weather App Animations
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57463857&postcount=7022
Weather Animations require being flashed in TWRP.
SUMMARY
Just so I don't get bashed up, once again, this all came out of the original GAKU GAKU thread here:

If you want to thank anyone for the programming to get these to work & have any technical questions, they might be a better resource. A LOT OF DIFFERENT PEOPLES WORK WENT INTO THIS. THANKS TO ALL OF THEM!!
My hope making a post over here in the Nexus thread is to maybe get some interest from some good Nexus programmers that maybe able to fix specific issues Blinkfeed has with our phones. Like the DPI issue and get some specific bugs addressed for us. Feel free to comment, help out or whatever. I personally like Blinkfeed, others don't, but I really like Blinkfeed on Nexus. :good:
Thanks!
SCREENSHOTS TO COME!!!!! :good:

Just trying to get some development interest here directly for Nexus 6. Since the other thread is ALL android devices, some of the issues that we experience may not ever get looked at since GAKU doesn't have a Nexus 6 or to try to get some quicker fixes. Like for the DPI issue. Someone here might know how to fix that quick...
Plus the other thread is getting really disjointed as of late, so I was hoping to get some clarity for anyone that might be interested in using this Port and not having to dig through 100 pages of posts.
Not taking any kind of credit, just looking for some more directed help in making this perfect for us that want it... :highfive:

I'll try to look at it with pure shamu this weekend. Works with rooted stock which is what I am on. I would think that some of the clean up that is done when running a custom Rom like Pure does eliminates some of the background files that BlinkFeed may rely on.
That would be great thanks nice work.

My 4x2 widgets work so don't know what's up particularly with that. (See picture). The clock widget I will look at tomorrow but my battery is dying tonight. As you can see from the picture. Trying to see on the Generic Lollipop development thread if we can get the HTC widgets working... I can get clock working with optional clock install (file on page 1 of this post) rather than the packaged one in the zip with the launcher. However, there seems to be a disconnect between that apk and the widgets since I keep getting an error when I go to set the city when editing the widget that says "Install HTC Clock App" on the bottom of the screen even though it is installed... there is probably some kind of "helper" app needed that I am missing... I even installed the the HTC location Service and a few other files with no change. I am going to keep trying though. Update tomorrow maybe. :fingers-crossed:

got it working on Pure Shamu newest version.... so I used the newest GAPPS pack and installed the "stock" configuration from a wipe (like how you are suppose to install Pure Shamu) and Blinkfeed, Twitter (well, I have yet to install the app because wifi is unavailable, but it show on the content as well as Facebook). Clock works by not using the one in the ZIP but rather the optional APK. No force closes. I assume that if you do a minimal GAPP install that its missing apps that Blinkfeed needs to work properly. Once I am home tonight, I plan to setup mine on Pure Shamu w/ BlinkFeed Launcher support... just can't right now with wifi I will post an update on the first page as well :good:
