Broken speaker - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hey guys I accidentally put my phone in the pocket with chocolate and it melted onto the top speaker. Now the speaker is super quiet I'm guessing it's blocked by chocolate. What will sprint do when I take it in?

They'd likely make you pay for a replacement.
Why not just turn the phone off and heat up the part of the phone that has chocolate in it, and let it slowly come back out? You don't need to heat it very much (I'd say use a hair dryer from a good distance away, as too close will heat the phone up too much), just enough to melt the chocolate and wipe it away with a damp cloth.

Dip it in milk and make chocolate milk. No use crying over melted chocolate

sprint will LOL.

Lol well I was at a pub and they gave me a Hershey kiss with my check. I forgot that I put it in that pocket.
I'm hoping I can slip it by and get a replacement with my insurance. I'll just play dumb and hope for the best.

You ain't gotta lie lmao.
I would try to clean it as well as I can so when you take it its not obvious. Or try the hair dryer suggestion mentioned.

You can heat up your phone to about 150° for a short time without harming anything. Just turn it off and let the chocolate melt back out
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Lol you can't actually see anything on the outside that shows chocolate. This hairdryer method I'll go for if I can't get it replaced.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Forgive me for asking, but did you try powering off your phone, waiting for 15 mins then actually washing the speakers by submerging them in water or better yet: distilled alcohol?
Is that safe?
I have no idea.

Two days after I got mine I was sitting at taco cabana eating some nachos. I had my baby on the table face up. I went to take a dip in the cheese with my chip and as soon as I went to bring it up to my mouth a big drop of nacho cheese splashed right onto my speaker grill. I don't even think I hesitated, left my food and rushed out to my truck. I have a small bottle of rubbing alcohol that I spray on my screen and wipe with a microfiber. I tilted my phone it a downward angle and put the spray nozzle right up against it and flushed it out. It was still nice and soft so it did a pretty good job with no side effects. don't know how well it would do for hardened chocolate.

Smart man. Yeah well me in my one too many drinks frame of mind just rubbed it off lol, and here we are.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Same thing happened to me. Got half melted chocolate on the lower part of the phone, including grill. Then wiped it without thinking. Now there is chocolate stuck in grill and in space between display and grill. Tried hair dryer yesterday to see if it would drip out, but it didn't work .. I was too scared to heat up the phone too much and ruin it. Maybe I'll try rubbing alcohol...

Ever since my phone screen size had gone bigger than 4 inch I have used SPI body belt. It fits any size phone and doesn't bounce around. Also I can put my car key in with it. I use Bluetooth stereo headphones so I don't have to worry about wires.
And yes I think running around with a galaxy note 2 strapped to your arm would look ridiculous.

Have you found an SPI belt that will fit the Note 2? My buddy just got one, and said it's tight on his Galaxy S3. All of the ones I see on Amazon say size "small".
I haven't got the note 2 yet as they are not in stock in my area.
They make a large pocket version of the spi belt. They actually gave me the larger one for free because they made the mistake of sending me the smaller one when I asked for the large one.
Edit:
I have a pre-order note 2 case from last week. I just tried putting the note 2 case in my large pocket spi belt and it fits no problem.
It definitely will not fit in the regular size spi belt.

Keeping the black clean

I didn't believe those that said smudges would be problem on this phone, but it definitely is. To top it off, grit is stuck in some of my speaker holes and I've no idea of how to get it out. It sticks out like a sore thumb when the phone is clean...

I've been searching for a week for a gear charger. It makes no sense not to be able to get an extra. Maybe even a traveling version.
Would be great to see a desktop watch stand/charger that holds it at 45 degree angle.
Hello,
Try to use original power supply and leftovers from the original charger cradle - or make some adaptation - but be careful not to make any shortcut.
If You see the back back of the watch, with SAMSUNG name visible + is on most right contact (close to "G" letter) minus is second from the left (over the M letter)
see the picture -

You have my total sympathies with this. Its absurd for any brand to issue a device that is totally dependent on one part and have that one part not available to the customers for replacement. What are we supposed to do buy another complete watch. I want one to keep in the car and one for the office. Not a chance in hell. I contacted the importer here and there apparently isn't even a part number that can be given to order stock!
You now have a brick! I despair with such short sightedness on the part of a major brand like Samsung.
Again you have my sympathies.
Kind regards.
Good thing I'm taking good care of the charger. Good to know they not selling extra accessories.

going to be working on making a magnetic charge/sync cable over the next few weeks. Plans are to have the magnets "lock" to the screws on the back of the watch above the existing sync/charge port.

Sorry for blowing up the thread. Was busy getting my new phone set up and preparing for Christmas vacation. Just now got around to going through the thread

Yea even a thin case around the phone will prevent this from happening - it will absorb a lot of impact since its a compressible material...
basically w/o a case if u drop it on the front corners it will likely crack the screen
This is because the impact is abosorbed by the metal- which will not compress, it will just push all the force down to the glass screen and crack it.. if they just had a little bit of rubber or plastic between the metal and the glass it would alleviate the impact enough so that the screen wont crack as easily.
I power slammed my phone and the screen broke. HTC makes crappy phones. I'm buying a iPhone

Bent xperia Z1 !!!

So.. I've read this topic on other website about a user who found his Z1 bent over a night by itself.. And he claims that "no external force was applied".. Well i didn't believe at first.. I'm an engineer and i know that it's not easy to bend a phone like that not even by heat.. Unless the aluminum reaches the melting point.
After a quick search i found similar topics about user who encountered the same issue.. But i didn't really found any other pictures for a bent Z1 unit but the pictures that the first user posted on the Internet.
So.. Did any of you guys had the same problem? That matter really freaked me out as i bought my unit just a week ago and I'm afread that maybe it's going to be bent like that!
Thanks in advance.. And sorry for my bad English!

being an engineer... you should be able to figure this one out... does aluminum + glass bend by itself?

I know l know.. But the thing is, do you know when you are overprotective for something that you lose all the sensible thinking!.. Besides, Lots of discussions were made about that issue on xperia blog and G+ that freaked me out.

I've had mine since October and it hasn't bent itself

I can't help but laugh if you believe glass will bend by itself

Mine is just repaired, it was magically bent by my elves and their wizards. I was watching and thought: "Nooooo!! Damn elves, I'll kill you!!" Anyway it's repaired and the elves are magically killed by my cat, so I'm happy now
Sorry just kidding
I don't think the phone will bent over by warming up to be honest

Or maybe it was the underpants gnomes?
A quick change in temperature drop..since metal and glass have different temperature coefficients... May be a rapid change in any of those have caused it??

And then dwarves had a battle with the elves under the command of your cat
You made my day man
Well.. If the temperature was under the melting point of any metal.. That particular metal may be deformed.. But after the metal is back to the normal temperature.. It bounces back to it's original shape.. So i thought maybe the aluminum was made by some bad forging or something like that.. I know it's highly unlikely but the pictures and the discussions were terrifying

Maybe.. But the strange thing is, even if it's caused by those reasons, or by applying external force "which is most likely" the glass didn't break! And the metal is terribly deformed.

Maybe it transformed into Xperia z1 Flex? You know, who knows what that Japanese guys can do with electronics

I know what the problem is and you won't like it - I think your friend's house is haunted by ghosts!!!!
We better call Dean and Sam!

No but seriously I've never heard of anyone bending there phone ever! PLastic phones, metal, alumium, glass etc. not a single time.
i have my z1 since decembeter and belive me i've tried heating it up as best as i could! 3 hours of asphalt 8 a day for weeks... it doesn't get any hotter than that and yet the phone don't bend! so you can rule out the temperature effects...
my theory is that it's just bad manufacturing proccess and the aluminum frame has inner forces that wants to relive itself and bend... only happend in few rare cases.
The reason for bent phones, is in fact quite simple...
- and allmost allways the same...
Just like any other bent phone, eg. the iphone, the Z1 really don´t like to be in a rear pocket at all.
The force from your wight, when you (accidently) sit on a chair is more than enough to bent the phone...
Actually if you have tight pants, and have it in the front pocket, that might also bent the phone when you sit down...
These things might not bent it enough for you to notise the first few times, but then one day you notise it...
Nothing strange in that at all...
- just look at how people use the product...
Pictures is what we need!!!

It is possible for a metal to bend under its own material stress if it has not been machined properly but it only happens in rare cases. My experience with my z1 is a good one, I have accidentally dropped it many times on various surfaces and even my Japanese akita has stood on it! yet it's still in perfect working condition so I don't see how some z1's are bending without intervention.

Wow that looks so odd, this guy is either lying about something or something is really odd and I mean REALLY ODD!
I would've expected something of this happening if it was warm and in your pocket while you were biking for example but the guy said he didn't touch which makes that hypothesis incorrect.
I think warranty would protect that because the phone is not suppose to bend by itself!
I still think something smells a bit fishy about his story!
