Sprint is one of the faster carriers to release updates, and it's not like the One launched with 4.2 in any event. Give it another week or so, hopefully. If not, devs may pull through with a port from the int'l side.

Yeah I know bro,Ive been with sprint for almost ten years now...and seems to me they take longer to roll out their updates for thier flagship devices

There is no Sprint branded 4.2. It is for the international devices. As such there is nothing to release yet.

I also believe that if you're lucky enough to snag one destined for the Asian market that those have microSD slots, owing to the smaller size of the radios used.

There really won't be any difference other than compatibility with the Sprint One, visually that is... It will look and operate the exact same.

Since you guys have the international phone (identical to other SGSs except USA) you guys can flash your phone as Euro firmwares, right?
All USA phones is different from the international model.
For instance, Samsung Captivate (ATT) has 4 keys (capacitive) instead of 3 keys (1 hard 2 capacitive). No FFC.
So.. it'll be harder for us to flash our phone to the custom ROMs
It takes time...the Euro version came out around a month or two.
The US version isn't even available yet.

okay does this mean custom rom for US AT&T Captivate will not be available until another month or so... this is a deal breaker. SGS is coming out next week. Mang if no custom rom i don't know if i get it.
This SUCKS.
@sl8125: there never are custom roms for a device that hasn't been released yet. The denbigh galaxy s variants that are coming to the us are going to have different hardware from each other and it will take at least a couple of weeks after general availability for the devices to get custom roms. Actually those galaxy s derivatives will probably be able to take advantage of the work that had been done on the galaxy s but nobody can say for sure since nobody has any pdt the for devices that are going under the galaxy s flag in the us.

The CM team has a team of developers that officially support the IncS. The IncS is among the devices that are in the build and development rollout.
Plus its said the Nexus S will be getting it and it is only a single core processor. That being said, I'll wait for CM9.

I understand this team has taken the responsibility to develop the software to IncS in future CM releases?
Google said that all gingerbread running devices can run ICS without any problem, so it basically means that our Inc S can run it as well..
so even if HTC doesn't update our phones then we can hope to see some love for Inc S via custom ROMs..
Officially supported: I know what it means. You don't know means.
Sory for bad English.
The CM team were the ones that coined the next version as CM9, skipping CM8 as there was no Honeycomb based ROM for our phones.
I would think they plan on continuing to include CM9 for the IncS.
My 2 cents.

Agreed..
I'm pretty sure officially supported doesn't mean for one single cm version..
At least it hasn't for any of the other phones.
The HTC Magic is "officially supported". Does that have CM7.1?
If Kali and Attn1 decided they no longer wished to keep supporting the IncS then someone else would have to step up and take over.
Just because a phone is "officially supported" it doesn't mean that it's definitely going to get a future version.
it'll be such a letdown if only cm has ICS.. i'd like to see sense roms with ICS too.
(been a sense freak since day 1 of getting my incS)
One of the major reasons why I bought an HTC mobile is because HTC is the front runner in releasing updates. I hope HTC gives support to my reason. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not being a troll. I agree our phone is probably quite capable of supporting ice cream, I was just pointing out one reason why just because a phone is officially supported it does not mean it's guaranteed to get a future version.

This is all just speculation at this point it time. You both bring up good points, especially about what Kali and attn1 may decide as far as CM9, so we just need to wait and see how this plays out for the IncS.

Until we actually see 4.3 released at all, speculation is pretty useless one way or another. I was somewhat surprised it didn't turn up at I/O, but considering Google's continuing focus on severing out core platform elements from Android, that's not actually altogether surprising.
Waiting is getting a bit tedious. The only part I'm looking forward to is a new radio. The rest is just icing on the cake.
I'll just be glad when it is released so that we can use a wide variety of ROMS that are being used on the International HTC One such as Android Revolution and the AOSP ROMS

Released at all? I see you are not aware that there's a 4.3 leak for the Google edition S4? That means that Google has made the source available to the OEMs before making it public. Maybe even in the hopes of faster updates. Either way, it looks like Samsung's trying to pull a fast one on HTC.
The reason 4.3 did not show up at the I/O is because it's a very minor upgrade from 4.2.2. If you run it yourself, as I have, you will practically not notice any changes from 4.2.2.
However, Google chose to make sure that KLP WAS at I/O.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

Thanks for the assumption, but wrong on both counts. I've been aware of it since leak date and have run it on a spare device, and from what I've seen and read, I don't consider it to be complete. Just because something runs, as I'm sure you're aware, does not mean that it's either ready or close to release date.

The point of 4.3 was to give carriers and OEMs a chance to catch up update-wise, it only makes sense that 4.3 will be a minor upgrade so that carriers and OEMs can easily patch it in. It's only natural that a an update meant to give a breather will contain minimal changes.

And if you look back at my posts, I don't disagree with this-- and in fact, this was even the subject of my first post. I don't think it's an incomplete leak because the changes so far have been minimal-- it is possible to have an unfinished point update.

Cincinnati Bell HTC One could skip Android 4.2, go straight to 4.3

If true this COULD happen On the major carriers as well, hence the "small" update recently.
I saw that article, and while I wouldn't really mind, I'm not sure if I believe it. Other countries have already gotten 4.2.2 for the GSM One.

It does seem strange to me that we haven't seen 4.2.2 on the sprint htc one... As I recall on the HTC 4glte the update to 4.1 came fairly quick. I think HTC just said fk it let's release 4.3 which has back end features that we benefit from. 4.2 isn't such a big deal when HTC has highly customized version of android.

No GSM carriers in the US have updated to 4.2.2. But, Europe and Asia have gotten the update, which does work on ALL GSM phones, in any country.
However, there are no CDMA carriers (maybe a few, but it's a very small number) outside of the US, so the CDMA version (Sprint) has no update yet.

This is exactly why I have been wondering why people are pissed about a lack of 4.2.2 on the Sprint HTC One. There aren't that many new features to justify the outrage and there aren't any performance enhancements... 4.2.2 is barely a step up from 4.1.2 (the main improvements relate to tablets).

I disagree (regarding tablets), but that's mainly due to how fast Google's native implementation of quick toggles grew on me. It makes more Sense though for a 4.3 update, given that a fairly long time has already passed since the last point release and the relatively minor changes (compared to 4.0->4.1).
Then again, I'm also mildly concerned that the real story here is that Sprint's carrier testing is taking longer than it should and we'll just get a delayed 4.2.2 update instead.

If you want quick toggles, just installed ViperRom... The changes aren't important enough to justify spending a lot of resources into upgrading the OS. The main changes in 4.1.2 -> 4.2.2 are in tablets, specifically multiple user implementation in the tablet environment.
