Noticeable Lag with any and all ROMs on my AHD? - Motorola Atrix HD

I recently traded my Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket for an AHD and so far; it's been complete hell. It was a mess to try and flash a custom ROM to the phone and once I did, I've found out that every ROM I try (Which is the old PAC by Gunny and the newest PA ROM, all others I've not tried or don't want to work with my phone such as SlimBean) is laggy. I wipe cache/dalvik/system/factory reset and then flash ROM + Gapps. Do I need to possibly flash a different kernel on my phone?
I've noticed with CPU monitoring apps that it spends most of it's time in 384 MHz, around 56% and I was unsure if that could be a problem or not. I have no clue what to do or try besides selling the phone and going and buying a S3/S4 to save myself from all the hassle from this phone that I've had thus far.
If anyone could help, it'd be gratefully appreciated!

Check your governor and try stock. You could also try arrrgh's kernel if you're using 4.2.2 or bell stock.

I just flashed the stock fastboot ROM, JellyBean, and oh my goodness it is so much better. I've had so many problems with flashing ROMs and trying to get back into recovery mode whenever the ROMs wouldn't work. Hehe.
Can you give me a link to the kernel you're talking about and how to flash it? I'm going to update my CWM to 6.0.3 instead of my current 6.0.2 one.

You have to be using 4.1.2 stock to use it. Bell or Mexico retail.

Ahh. So what could I do to improve the speeds like I'm seeing in stock with the custom ROMs? Right now stock > any custom ROM right now because of how bad the lag is, which sucks.

Sorry for double post, but I won't be able to get a link until my Internet fixes. Can't even edit posts. It's in the photon q original android development forums.

Best thing you could do is play with governors, i/o schedulers and maybe some pimp my rom optimizations. Just tread carefully.

Is it just me with all of these problems with custom ROMs or is it everyone that has the lag but it doesn't bother them enough?

Came back to say I fixed all of my lag problems by fastbooting back to JB and ensuring the fastboot files were the snapdragon fastboot binaries/files.

Too heavy lag with all the ROMs

Hi Guys,
I tried to help my girlfriend to have the latest and best rom on her SGS but now it seems somethings wrong with her phone or with me
Hope you can help me...
Tried some different roms already, then I decided to go with the stable CM9 as I love their work very much and seen many promising videos on the net so far. But I ALWAYS end up with the same result: The phone is laggy... I mean laggy that its like not using the CPU and GPU to full capacity or something...
This is also given when the system is fresh and clear. Its really frustrating slow to even change the homescreens, go into the app drawer and so on. According to the videos about CM9 it is almost 'buttery'.
What shall I do? I always do all the wipes and things that are needed but I am still quite sure I miss something...
Could you please provide me some tips to test?
Thank you very much in advance!

Slim BEAN is not an option as it does not support hungarian language which is essential for my girlfriend... looking at CM9 videos captured on I9000 it should be smooth like butter but it is not...
Each device is different you could try latest cm10 then install semaphore kernel(semaphore speeds up a lot) then post quadrant results

I had the same problem. Videos captured in 720p won't play smoothly....I installed Devil3 kernel, LiveOC 110% and changed QuickPic as default photo/video viewer. Now videos play smoothly

I advice you the last Devil Kernel with ondemand governor , with the smooth governor profile , and the bigmem ram setting .
Lagfree governer works well too and isn't to heavy on battery

V6 SuperCharger... link is in my sig...
Thanks all but I would still say it should be much smoother and stable...
What should be the recommenden flashing method?
Do I need to revert to some kind of stock now or just simply wipe everything , including the /system as well?

Are you talking about supercharging?
Just run an interactive script that explains it all.
If on ICS/JB there's now a windows exe to mod your current services.jar and supercharge your launcher.
And yeah.. it should be much smoother out of the box... but it isn't... hence the script's success... not to mention that it works

Ultimate cause you can install cleanest. Safe kernel and format system and data.
Alliance is good, but I always had issues cause I couldnt format. Also not everything was installed as I liked, becausebsome options for install are available onky throught scripts called upon bij installed app, which is why formats arent possible for mounts.
What's good for me maybe your poison, but ultimate is way the best
From box 13......

the rom today is angry v3................it comes with multiwindow, airview, inkeffect on lock screen and have multiple dpi options u can use tablet mod etc.
I suggest ultimate.but alliance and angry are good too
I only tryed the ultimate and im pleased

[Q] [i9001] Please recommend a ROM to flash

Which ROM would you recommend for a i9001 considering the following criteria:
Stable
Reasonable performance
As little 'not working' features as possible
Can work without update/fix for months
Excellent battery life
Reason is I need to update the phone of a family member which is still on 2.3.7 but can't update it more often than once a year or so.
Many thanks in advance!
Depends...
Games..Music..Videos..Internet...need to consider all these
As well as all CM / JB and GB Roms look different (Themes)
So you have to consider these factors then its a matter of choosing the right one
Go for JB roms. Just find a suitable one for you. Also, you can flash custom kernels too so you can have optimum performance.
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
Xylon is a great ROM, fast, stable and probably the best JB ROM ever created. CyanASOP is apparently a really great ROM for gaming if that is on your check list?

Well the C-Rom by Aways are pretty good. I personaly use them but you shuld flash some and see for yourself which suites you best.
Only thing that sucks is that you have to complettly set your phone up every time you flash a new Rom.
But since I have tried C-Rom I am hooked runs fast and stable. Games are sometimes laggy but rest works like a charm.

[Q] most stable 4.1+ rom?

Can anyone provide feedback on which of the custom 4.1+ roms is most stable for a T679M? The more stock it is the better. Preferably I would like an AOSP rom.
by most stable I mean
- all hardware working
- good battery life
- good performance
also, can you install roms for the T679 on the T679M, or do I need to find a rom specific for this version?
Thanks

You can't use t679 roms you need to find a rom compiled for your device.
The T679M can use all the same Roms as the exhibit which was clarified in cams a lip thread. My best experience was with the smoothie jb v3 rom for 4.1

thanks for the link. hasn't been updated in a while and still had the beta tag, so I probably wouldn't have looked into it without your recommendation.
how is battery on yours with the different kernel? I'm getting about 6% drain per hour sitting in standby without a SIM, with screen off, but Wifi on. A bit disappointing I guess.

[Q] Note slowed down after upgrading to Jelly Bean.

Hello guys,
I use Galaxy Note-N7000 and the issue with my device is ever since I upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.2,my device has slowed down,I am now starting to think its because of Note unable to handle Jelly Bean.I even tried factory resetting and re-installing Jelly bean a couple of times, but it hasnt helped.I also see RAM consumption being very high with only a few apps on my device.
What could be slowing down my device?I was told Kernels speed up our devices, will it work?If so can you guys recommend me any good kernels and steps to install them?
I would really appreciate any help, guys. Please be kind
Thank you!
That's normal. Whether use ics or higher than 4.1.2.
It will always lag.
To flash custom kernel do it via Odin or root Your phone and install kernel from cwm.
Sent from note, a phone like never before
That's stock jb for you, it sucks. If you want jb then go for cm or paranoid.

Flashing through Odin shouldn't need root, just USB debugging enabled. I have never flashed anything via goo manager, but if You will get the flashable file You will be able to flash it then. And it will change the cwm.
To download kernels just go to android development section for our service and search the forum for "kernel" in the topic. Our You can also Google "kernel n7000"
