Battery life of ROMS - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just a question, is there any difference between the battery life of the different roms (trickdroid, ARHD, ordroid, etc) or are they all pretty much the same?

Interested to know this as well.

I've heard most of them are the same, but I still would like to know the actual difference, if any.

I've had the best battery life on luna so far. Went to bed last night at around midnight with 100%, and it's now 10pm the following night and I still have 41% left. I've spent most of the day texting and using gtalk/hangouts.

Stock rooted Odex I got slightly more battery life then TrickDroid... but then again yesterday it went from 7am to 10pm and I still had 52% battery left with a little over 2 hours on the screen and everything syncing like normal.

Best rom out now with good battery life?

Ok, so I told myself I wasn't going to root or flash my Galaxy Tab til I saw a working Honeycomb port or whatever, but I may root and flash mainly bc the stock battery life sucks so much...and I currently have a all day roadtrip that I wont be able to charge my tab hardly at all. So, yea, I need a rom with good battery life. ASAP
im using overcome right now. just got my tab yesterday. so far i had it charged 100% when i woke up for work, 8 30 off the charger. its now 11 so from 8:30 to 11:00 my phone is at 83% and ive been using it heavy..[texting, video calls, rebooted like 3 times with rotos modem switcher.. downloaded a bunch of apps and played some games.]
ill let you know by the end of the day where im at, it seems like this will be around 10% by the time i go to bed if i continue to use it alot.
Ok, cool, ty keep me informed
+1 for Overcome have bee using my Tab all day and down only 50% in 8+ hours of moderate use.
hey checkin back in, almost time to get off work. so far from 830 to 330 with pretty good amount of use[texting, no phone calls tho, downloaded and installed some more apps].. im at about 48% right now.. so thats about 50% in 8 hrs with heavy use.. im sure if i didnt text all day at work ill be at like 60-70%
oh yeah wifi was switched off the whole time except on my lunch break for an hour.. gps is on.. sync is on and my screen brightness is about a little less than halfway[on the slider]
i was expecting better battery life but i must admit this is better than my vibrants battery so far, the vibrant wouldve been at 20-30% right now.
ill let you know where im at in a couple more hours..
Can I install Overcome on the Korean Version of the tab? Model number SHW-M180S.
I really want to install a rom, but I can't figure out what works on my tab.
Thanks!!
I used my phone heavy when I got home the batt life dropped to 10 by 8 o clock...

+1 for Overcome have had no problems with it and battery life is impressive even when using all day

I think is good to know the version of Overcome/other firmware that you use.
Been keeping track of battery life since I flashed to overcome. Getting about 8 hours with moderate to heavy usage like some of the other posters here. Really not bad.
While overcomes does have a battery issue it is not a bad one....( Drops three percent as soon as I unplug the charger....does NOT happen with the stock ROM ) it is the best ROM out there with no comparison.
Piece of advice....NEVER update a rom. If a new one comes out do a FULL flash ONLY to avoid problems.
The rom that gives the best battery life is still the stock rom!
I am running latest Overcome on P1000 GSM and has 50% left from 50h idle and 3h usage on WiFi only. (no gsm radio usage)
Is there another ROMs with bettery battery??
overcome is good while boca is so damn good... ive use either of them and didn't have battery issue although overcome has a little better battery life than the faster and smoother boca rom.

2 things the V8 update helped with

First is my 4g connection......I don't lose it at home like I did at all, not even once since the update.
Second, the dag gone battery won't die I have the extended, After using the phone all day yesterday and using my flashlight last night, almost for got the 7, 1 minute videos I made, this battery is at 73%. The stats are telling me I have been on battery for 21 hours, 27 minutes and 37 seconds. THATS AWESOME
I updated and for 2 days my battery ate at 15% an hour, then on day 3 everything reversed and like you my battery usage is amazing. I posted some screen in another thread, at the 12 hour mark I was still at 84% on a stock battery. When I went to bed this morning around 4 am I was still at 73%, that was nearly 21 hours of light to minimal usage. I was amazed.
As of this moment I have been up for about 4.5 hours and I am at 98% battery so 2% battery usage in 4.5 hours. Granted I have not really touched my phone but still that is amazing stand by drain. I think they fixed a memory leak in several of the apps that was causing drains. I am not one to be easily impressed but well played LG... well played.

This makes me want to update so bad but I hate to lose GV, CWM and Beats Audio
It makes you think... Either LG really screwed up and fixed a battery issue , or they did something amazing and made it 2x better.
Seems to be amazing took my phone off the charger at 7:30am used modestly all day, fell asleep and woke up at 1am the next morning and it still had 13% battery

I just completed everything yesterday, and my battery life was abysmal today. I really hope mine behaves like yours and is okay in a few days.
Well I got no recognizable improvement in battery or anything else. I am back on gingervolt until the next rom is made.

Wow... Second day and the battery life has definitely improved. Better than GV already.

[Q] How long do your battery last on ICS?

What is common battery life on ICS? The reason I'm asking is because my battery only last for about 24 hours before I need to charge again, and it's no matter what ICS ROM I use. I came from Darkys ROM where my battery lasted for about 2,5 days and it's a bit disappointing with the new ROMs.

i get on average 36 hours with dark knight 4
Day or two, depends on the usage ;-) AOKP M4, Semaphore 0.9.7
After 14 hours of use I usually still got ~30% battery. After that I charge it again as it's better for LI-ION batterys not to be discharged completely.
I don't get all those discussions about battery life since smart phones are no cell phones. Today there are jacks nearly everywhere, so you can easily recharge the phone. Plus it's very bad for LI-ION to be discharged to 0%.
Specs: SlimICS 3.2 with MNICS LR 143 conservative governor, 1800mAH battery.

It's annoying if you constantly have to think about whether your battery is running out or not or you can't go anywhere for the weekend without your charger.
I usually don't discharge my battery to 0% more like 20-25%, but I just did it a few days ago and did a full charge, which improved my battey life a lot! I guess it has something to do with the phone displaying the proper percent, and a full discharge once in a while probably corrects the battery percent displayed on the phone.
Battery lasts about 2 days on ICS for me: SlimICS 3.2 + Devil2_0.64_i9000_CFS_BLN_CMC_XL_20120405 (smartassv2)
aokp build 31 + semaphore 1.0 (smartassv2 + sio) lost about 1% in 2 hours of idle..
with very light usage (7 minutes of calls and a hour of 3g) i've got 71% after a day(22 hours) of usage...so i think it is equal to gingerbread roms
NEW ICS 4.0.4 EXTRAordinary_4.0.4_beta with default kernel (Glitch B6)
I am proud to say that the battery is really good. My phone usually was out of juice by 5 pm (games, movies, etc). Now it's about 50%!
May b i sud also switch to ics as my battery drains in 12hours. I use 1hour call, 2hr of web surf n may b hour or 2 in playin games. Ryt nw m using faryaabs v7(galaxy s2 looks)

If the display is off and DIDLE is active, it could be that you come through 3 days or more, but if you only turn it on for checking Mails or something else the battery is sinking so that you can see it.
I'm with 10% at evening with 1500 mah original SAMSUNG battery if I charged it over the last night with normal usage.
ROM etc. in signature.

I am bit confused earlier I was using dark knight 5 it was pretty i was getting around 16 or 20 hours but then I moved CM9 and i my battery drain out of death barely in 8 to 10 hours :'(
is there any stable I.C.S version for long lasting battery???

You should specify your usage. It's almost impossible to say if it's good or bad without the details.
If you could push the battery for 2.5 days(60 hours +/-) ROM/kernel not important, I guess your usage isn't very high.
I have no problem getting 2 days with my low usage on Slim ICS and Semaphore.
But I charge it full every night so I can avoid getting a useless phone the next day.
I can go 18 hours with heavy usage. 4 hours screen, game, surfing, other stuff and a lot of listening to music. I try to dim the screen and use black themes as much as I can.

[Q] Bad Battery Life?

Is the O4X's battery life as bad as gsmarena is saying? Just a little over 4 hours of video playback and 4 hours of web browsing?
If you read the comments of the blog article on it, you will see that there is a lot of discussion over the brightness.
By comparison to the SGS3 and One X, the Optiums has a much brighter screen which will mean a lower battery life. Of course if they set all the phones to the same actual brightness (not percentage) the numbers would be different.
I am currently waiting delivery of my 4X, but after I have conditioned the battery (let the handset configure itself to the battery), I'll definitely be seeing what its capable of.
Alright thanks, I hope you'll be able to get back to this thread when you find out more.
I've had mine since friday and I think I've charged it about 3 or 4 times now and the battery life is getting better. It lasted only about 2 hours when I first charged it and started it for the first time. But I was using it constantly.
Today I started it in the morning (fully charged) before going to work and now, 10 pm, it's been on for about 16 hours and I have 40% left. Data have been on all day and I've been signed in to Google Talk all day, I've browsed the web for a total of aprox. 1 hour, used the camera, tested the GPS and been chatting with a friend on talk. So I'm pretty satisfied so far.
It's better than my O2X.

That's good to hear. How many hours was the screen on?
I'm not sure unfortunately. But i would say between 2-4 hours.
Edit: okay it was a little less than I thought. The. Battery usage in settings says the screen have been on for two and a half hours. And that's including the time I have used after 40%. I'm down to 25% now.
My Battery lasts after a few cycles all over two Days with medium Usage (No gaming - WA, FB, eMail)........
i ca go for 1 day, with a bit gaming and usual use.
I have slightly longer battery life on my 4X HD than on my Nexus S when using the phones in the same way (casual use). But I think there is room for improvment on the battery life with more optimized software either from LG or when we start seeing custom roms for this device.
I charged mine to 100% and just dropped 8% in 25 minutes, 20 minutes of that was driving and not using the phone, no Bluetooth or anything like that. The battery life is shocking and can't wait for extended ones to become available. Besides that I truly love this phone

How many complete charge cycles have you done?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
When I got my p880 I did 3 battery cycles, and I could only get about 8 hours of standby alone, no other use at all. I then did a factory reset and formatting of the memory card, which I hadn't done when I switched from my old SE X8. Now my p880 can easily go more than a day with some gaming, calls, browsing etc. My guess is that old android files on the memory card was the reason for the bad battery life. No expert though, maybe someone else has a better idea.
Today I tried the Chrome browser, and it really drained the battery. Something like 20% after browsing for 15 mins. Anybody else have experience with this?
Overall I'm really happy with this phone, great screen, fluid operation, good battery.
I've had battery drainage issues with the chrome browser as well. Even in stand-by the browser would drain the battery. It has only happened like two times for me in the four weeks i've had the phone, so not a biggy but still something you should be aware of, if you experience battery drainage issues

all those that get 5-6 hours of sot, are you decrypted or stock

Just finished reading through the 58 page post about battery life. Seems people are either getting about 6 sot or only 3 sot. I'm in the second group. Was curious if those that are getting near the 6 sot, if you are stock, rooted and decrypted, or running something custom.
Also, might not make a difference, but is your phone from Google or operator like t mobile
i get from 6 to nearly 8 hours sot, depending what im doing. root or stock, that didnt matter, same as encrypted and decrypted, it doesnt matter(im encrypted). i changed to the rastapop rom and lean kernel, and im still getting about the same battery life. most importantly for battery life is your signal quality, how you decide to set up your device, and which apps you chose to install. where i bought my phone has no bearing on its battery life(lol).
That is the purpose of the battery thread. It'd be nice if all posted the stats I mention in the OP. But to answer your question I get the same either way... All stock locked encrypted or rooted unlocked decrypted.
I got 5hrs sot with 24hrs unplugged until recently but that's because I installed some apps that want to keep my device awake for 3hrs a day. I am encrypted and running stock but am rooted.
I get 4hours on lowest brightness.. Includes WiFi browsing, 4g, videos, camera, music.. About 30mins of calls..
Also includes pushbullet that's on most of the time..
I don't understand how people get such good battery life.
Also that's only 12 hours of the phone being unplugged.. I'm at 12% right now.
I get 6-8 hours SOT, and three days between charges. It does not change if it is decrypted or not. I have tried it both ways and there is no discernable difference in battery with or without decryption.

3 days? How little do you use your phone? I couldn't make it a day and a half, nonetheless 3.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I understand where the OP is coming from. I can't get that kind of battery life either. I notice that I can get nearly 5 hours SOT if I constantly use the phone as soon as I take it off the charger. If there is a lot of standby time mixed in, 3.5 to 4 hours is around the max I can achieve. I'm 100 percent stock unrooted.
I'm on at&t, rooted, and no encryption. Other than that, completely stock.

I need to root to have service disabler working. I know that in the past this did not make a difference to ota updates, but i think in 5.0 it does. If i root, will i still get the ota updates when they come out
Is it possible that some units have bad battery or hardware that causes the difference. I have greenify running already and it did not seem to make a difference today. Phone still only got 3.5 sot. I loose about 10% per hour.

Here is my post in the battery thread where I explain what I did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57088676
Stock, ordered from Motorola, and getting 4-6 SOT.
Stock ROM and kernel, rooted, encrypted , adaptive brightness on, ambient display off ( i use double tap to wake) getting 4-6 hours SOT with 16ish hours off charger
PureShamu + lean kernel decrypted. No greenify, No app freezing. However I'm currently undervolted - 75 mv across the board. I avg 6 hr sot.
I'm running Validus ROM + Sensei Kernel, Decrypted , Greenify and Ambient Screen is off.
I average around 7 hours SOT. I have no issues making it through my typical day. Loving the Nexus!
Stock unrooted
I average about 10 hrs. Off the charger, with the screen on for about 8-9 of those hours. I plug it up at 10% and 1hr later I have 93% battery. I've noticed that all of my phones required this. LgG2, evo 4glte, evo 3d, ogevo.. I guess I'm just a heavier user than most.
