Bootlooping after S-OFF, Root and Clockwork Recovery - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have just performed the revone s-off on my phone, then rooted it using PaulOBrien's simple method then finally flashed clockwork recovery.
Everything seemed to work fine and my phone booted perfectly.
Now i have just come to reboot it and it after trying out clockwork recovery has just been non stop boot looping. I can get into recovery fine still but im not really sure how best to proceed with the least pain possible. Im quite happy on the stock rom so dont really want to start again on the phone with a new rom if i can avoid it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Reboot to bootloader
Connect to pc in fastboot mode
Using adb <fastboot erase cache>
Reboot.
Try and see if it works

Does your phone happen to be a sprint version?

Not quite sure why you followed Paul's method as it is pretty redundant these days. All you have to do is flash the Superuser.zip from CWM for root access...
Can you still get into CWM? If so, flash this via adb sideload:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip

I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time. Regreting it now tho! :-/
Just tried the adb sideload and all flashed fine but still now working
Any more ideas?! Feeling stupid now!

So I'm assuming CWM recognised the adb sideload and flashed the ROM file and said success afterwards? Might be worth trying CM 10.1 instead of a ROM using Aroma (seeing as it's crap and keeps crashing)

Im not quite sure how it works but stock ROMS are not rooted, wait till one of the modders posts the stock + root, and then flash over your current.
Flash the third file on this page, the one under root: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?p=67177#post67177

No, it will give you recovery back, and then you can flash the zip to root FRF85B from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713019
And yes, fastboot would be through command/terminal on a computer.
Ok thanks a lot I will have to try it later I am at work right now and do not have access to a pf... but thanks again... so just to clarify... my phone is STILL ROOTED?? I just lost the recovery and have to reflash it via fastboot... once I do that I will just do a nandroid restore... and stop messing stuff up... lol... thanks again...

If you just flashed a factory FRF85B rom, then no, it's probably not rooted. You have to run the zip file that I linked to root it.
Ohh one more question... since I was not the one who rooted the phone to begin with I have never rooted or really done this before am I going to have to download and install the USB drivers theybtalk about in the q&a forum on rooting?? (For fastboot access)

You're going to need to use fastboot in order to flash the recovery via fastboot. When you turn your phone on, the first thing it shows, the multicolored X...just the picture, not the animated X, does it have an open lock icon below it?

That means your bootloader is unlocked. You just need to flash a recovery image, since you can't seem to boot to recovery, then run the rooter.
Ok... so I am just flashing the recovery and sorry again but do I need the USB drivers or that adb thing they talk about in the instructions or is that JUST FOR ROOTING.....

You need USB drivers to manipulate your phone via USB, more specifically, via ADB, which means Android Debugging Bridge. You'll be using a variation of that, a script called "fastboot" to flash a recovery image to your phone, from your computer, via USB. So yes, you will need to be able to connect to it via USB.

Stock FRF91 unrooted to rooted FRF91?

I searched and read through some of the threads and really didn't find a conclusive answer to what I am looking for. So I decided to create a new thread.
My question is: Is there any way to root the N1 that has Stock FRF91? I'm not a noob in rooting, just wanted to make sure. I don't really care about unlocking the bootloader (warranty isn't an issue for me).
Can I just use the fastboot oem unlock command to unlock bootloader then install the custom recovery and install custom roms? Or is there a new method to rooting Stock FRF91 currently.
Thanks
Yes.

The instructions in that link wont work for stock FRF91 with stock recovery. I couldnt get the Amon recovery to load onto my phone in order to flash the root. I have tried to ADB it 5 times and each time it says successful, but when i go into recovery all i get is the android with the !.
By all means OP, you can try this and if you get it to work, let me know what you did. I tried 5 times and couldnt get it to work.
my bootloader is unlocked also.

after you pushed custom recovery, did you press Volume Down button while rebooting to go directly into recovery? because after you install custom recovery and let the phone reboot, the stock recovery will remain; you should try to go into recovery immediately after pushing the amon ra recovery without letting the phone boot up
let me know if that works
What is the method for rooting "without using SDK tools"? There are emulator apps in the market but they refuse to work without super user permissions? I have stock frf91 and looking for a way to root my nexus one?

Problem with flashing & booting recovery? Go here!

Hey guys,
when I tried flashing CWM on my new HTC One it just booted in normal mode over and over.
I tried every recovery-image available and it nerver worked.
While playing around I finally got it working without flashing the recovery image to the boot partition!
No need to copy root files and CFW files before flashing the recovery!
Instructions
Unlock your device at http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Reboot into bootloader
> fastboot flash boot boot.img - thanx to Paul O'Brien
> fastboot reboot-bootloader
> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - thanks to Flyhalf205
> fastboot erase cache
After this you should be able to enter recovery via bootloader or 'adb reboot recovery'.
The recovery image is CWM Touch 6.0.2.8 which worked great for me, didn't try the other ones right now.
I hope I could help
I had issues booting recovery if I used the All in One kit to flash recovery.
So people should flash it manually instead to avoid problems.

Didn't have that on my One until now.
I flashed my friend's One and it froze 3 times...then it worked.
I think it's recovery-related. Maybe wait for a fix.

It is AROMA related, amarullz have to update the binary
You can flash it 3 times or more, should work.
You can also use Hardware Buttons instead of Touch.. will help as well.
Device still rebooting
Can't flash recovery
same here - no access to recovery so far
Same for me too
Why ?
Got a HTC One from Orange france, and NO RECOVERY seems to stick. That thing boots, but i cannot enter recovery
I've tried using the AiO-Kit to flash CWM touch and normal as well as TWRP as well as the two CWMs manually and then this method. Still can't get access to recovery though

Had the same problem again and again flashing TrickDroid on my HTC One (M7). Can confirm, that avoiding touch will relieve things but freezes can still occur. A few times I even could not reset the phone long-pressing the power + volume up buttons, means I was completely stuck on the frozen aroma screen (since a battery pull is not possible with this device). For anybody who may be in the same situation, try the "fastboot reboot command, this still came through and rebooted the device.
has this method worked for anyone else?
i'd like to try, but since i currently can't access recovery, i'm afraid to flash a new boot.img

Yes, worked for me. I had the same issue. While flashing Renovate rom, Aroma crapped out right at the end where it was installing the kernel. I was then stuck on boot image until i found this thread.
Also, for what it's worth, i thought I'd flash the boot image again after i got my device running again but it killed my wifi. I had to reflash the rom as wifi in settings was `out of order`....
//edit: okay. i've been able to reproduce the crashing. seems it's an aroma/rom issue (i couldn't tell one way or the other). what matters here is flashing boot image with the provided image does the trick. whatever magic it does, i'm able to flash cwm recovery 6.0.3.1 but I have to flash boot image before, else flashing recovery is fruitless.
anyways, thanks. this thread help me solve what i thought was `bricked` device.

Hello, i got my One yesterday and promptly rooted it via the HTCDev site. i have gotten supersu installed and cwm installed. however, when i try to install a rom, everything says it works but when i reboot it stays at the HTC screen. the only one ive gotten to do anything is viper rom and it comes up with no signal and no apps installed and then reboots about 2 minutes later. any suggestions? any info i need to give?

What i need to know to root?

Hey everyone. I just recently bough a new Atrix HD since my other phone broke but anyways...
1. i noticed i can access the root of the phone (like / partition) but i cant edit it? so is this sign of root? I tried installing superuser binary and it didn't let me so i guess there is no root.
So
How do i boot into the boot loader?
What is the best method for rooting and instaling SU on my atriix (running 4.1.1)?
How do i flash a recovery and which one is best if i want to get cm11? (on my other phone i needed a completely different recovery to get kitakt)
Do i need to unlock bootloader first then root or vice versa?
So the more details the better i will understand if THANK YOU ahead of time.
sorry for such noob questions
PS yes i did google on how to do this and its a bit choppy. like no step 1 step 2 step 3.

No, its far from choppy. The only root method that works on 4.1.1 is Motochopper, and thats an automated script. So how you can say its choppy is beyond my understanding.
Since you are new to AHD, I highly recommend you reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350721

Yes. You have to unlock the bootloader to flash anything, including a custom recovery.
Um....okay the fastboot part....
How do i flash CWM after i have unlocked the bootloader which i just did. I just kind of wonder....do i have to dowload the 400+ megabyte .zip for fastboot?! or im getting something wrong.
okay awkward....
i flashed the recovery and it said the recovery (i got cwm from official cm instructions) and it said it installed fine.
The phone boots and stuff...but when i cant do the following
1. Reboot into recovery using volume down and power button
2. Reboot into recovery using fastboot command (it reboots but instead of a recovery it gives me an android with an exclamation point in a red triangle)
