Hey man
it's already a good thing you can get into download mode.
First off, you'll have to search for a stock rom for your country on Sammobile, go to this page and enter your device's information and your country: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
Second off, you'll have to unzip/unrar the file from Sammobile, which will give you a .tar file - that right there is the stock firmware that we'll now flash onto your device again.
Third off, you should put your device in download mode and connect your S3 Mini to your computer via a micro-USB cable (if your computer doesn't recognise the phone, download Samsung Kies and that will install the correct drivers so your computer does recognise it).
Then open up Odin and put the .tar file in the 'PDA' section. Leave the other sections empty! Hit start and wait until it says that the device is all good to go. Don't disconnect the cellphone until Odin says so!

They have other methods of getting into recovery mode as well such as ADB method as i am using that method. Just search how to install adb and boot into recovery.

To achieve with ADB mode I need to install some application on android?
when I searched about it, the tutorials show before installing an application

You install onto computer and use the command prompt in windows to boot to recovery just search how to install adb. It can get confusing to download and install it might take a bit of time.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S stuck on boot screen

Hi, i'm noob in Galaxy Flashing so this is my problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 blocked from italian carrier.
Few times ago i tried to enable 3-buttons download/recovery mode installing Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5 with Odin. The installation finished successfully but the download/recovery mode still didn't work.
After some reboots (where the phone worked right), now the phone stucks in the boot screen (the one with Galaxy S GT-I9000 SAMSUNG).
With the JIG i can enter download mode but my computer can't detect the phone (Windows feels my USB connection but Odin does not detect it).
If i connect the phone to the computer in normal mode (not in download mode, so with stuck screen), Kies can detect the phone but says that it can't talk with phone in this way(like if it was in USB Debug mode).
I Hope someone can help me
Restart your computer>>>Go to task manager and close all Kies applications (I usually have 2 Kies running from startup)>>>Start Odin and select all the files>>>Put your phone into download mode and connect>>>It should be detected now.
If it is still not detected, close odin, disconnect phone. Start Kies go to tools and install drivers. Once this is complete. Close Kies and start from the top of this post...restart...
Solution Is HEIMDALL.....
Here Comes your solution:
You can easily back your phone with Heimdall.
It's a flashtool which is more complicated than ODIN.
If interesting, simply PM me and we will do it.
I'm Here...
Well,first go to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
Second: Download 7-zip PC software & extract your official md5 firmware to obtain several other files.
Third:Search the web for a Heimdall How-To(if you didn't find,I'll provide You links)
Last:You'll flash the firmware via Heimdall & again your peace of mind will be back.
Try to reflash your phone normaly with another Rom, it should work

Sorry, your advice didn't work, Odin still doesn't detect the phone
Try to change the USB port and install ONLY the phone driver -if you don't find you can contact me.

I don't understand, your download mode works?
Sent from my Galaxy S with ICS 4.0.4 (Italy)
he said download mode works but odin cant detect the phone .
Try reinstalling the samsung usb drivers and/or try from another pc and see if it shows the same thing (meaning nothing) .
Hi,
sorry but i tried all the ways, Odin and Heimdall.
I tried Odin on Windows and Heimdall on MacOSX but always they say
"Failed to detect compatible download-mode device."
I'm sure that phone is in download mode
May i install drivers on OSX with Heimdall?
I have not original samsung USB cable, but i think this is not a problem
Rooted my GT-I9000, and now it has crashed!
First off all my Galaxy I9000 was trying to software update via Kies, and it failed. The it would not start, but i managde to root it with a stock "VOD" rom.. But after a while i wantet to root it back to "Nordic Version"... But i could not do this, because the 3 button combo dont work on my Galaxy I9000 anymore.. :/ So there for i baought a USB JTAG, that puts it into download mode. So far, So good But when it is finished rooting, it fails to mount/unmount a bunch of stuff.. I have a picture of the screen, so that you guys can se what the problem is. I have tryed to root it with the same version that worked before, but it dont work. I have also tryed with som pit files, and so on... I give up, i need help with my Samsung Galaxy S - GT-i9000. Please help me out with this..
Getting Hopeless...?
1)For you to become sure,my Galaxy S Aka I9000 was exactly the same as yours and right now there is nothing wrong with that of course after flashing by HEIMDALL.
2)Remember,if your are going to do anything,Your first and your last key,is your HOPE so be so hopeful and let's start to get over this.
3)Download I9000 USB driver from here and simply install it on WINDOWS OS.
http://hotfile.com/dl/48893334/93383a1/I9000_USB_driver.rar.html
4)Before Using Heimdall, Enter it's folder and you'll see another sub folder called driver and you'll see just ONE executable program, run it and follow these instructions:
(I'll Shortly Provide You A How-to)
5)Enter Heimdall and follow these instructions:

generally no, but I recommend strongly to try another micro USB-Cable & another USB Port!
No one of these method does work for me,

My dear friend, please note you should NEVER EVER WIPE on ICS, as it is a clear guaranteed BRICK.
Please press the THANKs button if this helped you.:cyclops:
Hope your issue has been resolved.
If not, here's something that worked for me when i was stuck at galaxy note logo.
i was not even able to get into recovery mode but i was able to get into download mode.
if your computer has the drivers installed for your note,
download and uinzip the attachment ADB-files.zip
Unzip the contents to a folder and hold down shift while right clicking with the mouse. You will get an option that says "Open command window here"
In that CMD window, give the command "adb reboot recovery" and voila, phone should force reboot to recovery.
If you get Error: Device not found. It means the drivers were not installed properly OR the pc is not detecting the phone properly.

Sorry but adb won't work unless the phone is detected properly by the computer.
Generally some drivers are installed in the pc with installation of kies. However when the phone is in recovery or download mode it is detected differently in the pc's device manager.
Are you able to get into download mode?
IF YES: Consider flashing a stock rom using odin

My phone also got stuck on the Samsung GTN7000 then turns back off and on on that very same screen.

But I have a few problems:
I'm located in the Philippines with an open-line Galaxy Note
It doesn't update to ICS over-the-air; I haven't tried KIES though
I lost all my contacts and software (but it's ok)
I just need to bring back my old familiar interface using ICS or if possible, Jelly bean (if it's stable)
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: N7000XXLA4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000ZSLA2-CL899610
I appreciate the help.

Did I download the correct ROM? (it was "Hongkong", when I am in the Philippines should I have downloaded a different country?)
If you have access to pc, install Kies on it and connect the phone. Check what it says. You may need to manually select the correct csc using the code *#272*IMEI#. This will wipe the phone. So make sure you make a backup of imp stuff.

I think I should've downloaded the ROM with the "DX" code in it (where Philippines country falls), instead of the "ZS" (Hongkong).. hence, I will first try what you mentioned. So there's no chance I could get my old contacts back eh?
btw, how can I "thank" you?
If you had synced it with Google or ever made a backup, you could restore it.
You could try the code. If there is no Philippines, the you can go to samfirmware.com and download the firmware you want. There's Philippines (Globe, Smart, Sun) firmwares. I don't know which is what but you may. You can flash the ICS rom directly using PC odin. Just be sure not to wipe or factory reset on stock ICS kernels.

[Q] No root recovery aymore

Dear Forum,
I have a I9001. I've been busy with it for a week now and read and tried allot. Nothing seems to work!
So , my I9001 doesn't have a recovery any more. No root or CWM. The rom works (2.3.5) but crashes or freezes. Then tried every
combo in the book to get into the recovery mode but nothing works.
So I ask you biggest android forum of the world: What the hell is going on??
Tried to get into recovery by recovery boot by pc, tried installing other roms or kernels or whatever.
Also getting a mmc boot mbr read failed when trying above stuff by odin.
Also when I shutdown the phone and I start it up again then it has to be installed again like country and date etc etc...
Thanks in forward for answering.
Greetz,

But download mode still working? Then you could try to flash the recovery via Odin again or a stock Rom, AFAIK those contain the stock recovery as well so afterwards you'll have a "fresh" installed phone... Might work, no other ideas...

Yep did that. Doesnt work. The thing is also that I cant change anything. Everytime when I reboot I need to install again. So it doesnt remember. Same when I connect it to the pc and I remove a file from download that I do not need it doesn't remove the file because the next time I reboot its back. It's like the internal is locked?
I can't find a good page with an explanation, so I'll just type it out myself. If anything isn't clear, ask!
You can try getting into recovery mode using the Android SDK, maybe that could work...
Install the latest version of Samsung Kies if you haven't already (for the USB driver)
Install the Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) You'll need just the SDK, everything else is useless for this
Open a command prompt and go to the directory where you have installed the Android SDK (basically you'll run the command cd "<folder>", where folder is something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk")
Start your phone and go to Settings > Applications > Development
Enable USB debugging (if it's not there, just find that option and enable it )
Connect your phone using a USB cable
Go back to your command prompt and run the command tools\adb reboot recovery
Hopefully your phone will boot in recovery mode
Good luck!

Ok so thank you for this but unfortunatly it just didnt work. I think it is dead. Does Jtagg do any difference? Like hook it up to that machine?
So what it does at this moment:
It starts up but everytime you start up it will ask you to install everything again. So it asks what country etc.etc...
When I am in it appears to work but starting apps just makes it all crash or freeze.
Im a bit lost at the moment to do anything. It just looks that it doesnt memorize.
I can hook it up to the pc but you cant remove or add anything. You can just look and scroll through it.

[Q] No SIM Message After Installing Latest CM10.1.3

Hello.
I recently installed CM10.1.3 on my GT-I9000 running stock GB. I did everything according to the instructions (though, mind you, this was not my first time installing a ROM just the first time on this device).
When I booted and tried to set up a CM account it gave me a message saying "Insert SIM card". I tried installing the kernel again, as well as installing other ROMs (AOKP mostly).
Nothing seems to work. It will simply not recognize my SIM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Might be also worth mentioning that I tried it with a few different cards, all of which work with other devices, and not with this one.

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this but it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced. so best to test with Stock ROM to check if its a software or hardware problem. also try to flash without SIM card and insert after flashing and first boot.

For a clean install and root, flash JVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below

1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11.Unplug the Cable to the Phone
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!

it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced.

But the hardware was functioning perfectly well before I flashed. Why would flashing a ROM damage my SIM contacts? (or any hardware, for that matter)?

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this

In this guide, when I am trying to download the PIT file, it wants me to log in with my google\facebook account. Something about that smells fishy. Are you sure it's reliable enough? Alternatively - could you provide a different download link for the file?

The password doesn't match, or so peazip says. I can't get the file to extract.
Thank a lot, guys, for all your efforts.

I assume you have a software issue, that's why I asked you to revert to Stock ROM after you confirmed the SIM card was not inserted the wrong way round. , only IF the sock ROM also gave you that result than you need to consider hardware, as I have not heard of anyone having this issue after flashing CM 10.
AS for PIT file its in 4Shared site, all they would require is you should be a member and register with them ( you can do that with any name and password) the ROM site is FileRio, there you should only use free download button , clicked a number of times ( same button) for download to begin, both uploads were by me, so its virus free. I will upload pit file to the thread asap as its very small file.
EDIT: already uploaded PIT File to thread uploaded 3 PIT files in a package used for i9000, only use 512

Hey. Thanks again.
One more problem, and it's a big one:
Odin won't respond to my device. No yellow rectangle, or any kind of response...
What can I do to make it realize that it's there?

the guide to solve such problems is right on top (begining) of that thread
Note:- It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable . If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu>Developer options> tick USB Debugging. After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )
If unable to connect your phone to PC for any reason, refer to this guide

I tried everything in that guide, and it still the same.
Might be worth noting that the computer totally does recognize the device. I mean, I can access the internal SD from the computer, when the phone is on. It's just that when I connect it in download mode, Odin doesn't respond.
Might also be worth to stress that I used Heimdall to flash the recovery, when I did it. Could it be related to why I can't use Odin now?
And another thing regarding my main issue - could the "Insert SIM" message be a modem thing?
The password for XXJVU is samfirmware.com
If you are still unable to open this, then download XXJVU by Google searching and then try. This is the best way to get rid of the problem.
If you are able to go to download mode, install USB drivers for Samsung and restart PC . Now exit the Kies program and its related services from your PC. If you are using windows, you may find the tray icon and exit by right clicking. Now run Odin and flash.
If you are not able to go to download mode then search "homemade usb jig" and use the jig method described in those threads.
I'm trying to download the XXJVU again. Will see how goes.
I am able to go to download mode. So that's not it. I also don't have Kies installed on my computer, so that's also not it. I installed a few different Samsung drivers, and did the whole process a few times. The computer always recognizes the phone, but Odin doesn't.
I don't get why I can't delete stuff, if I accidentally posted twice. Anyway - feel free to disregard this one. Sorry for spamming..
OK. Managed to open the XXJVU.
Still have the problem with Odin not paying attention to my phone being there. Do you think it might be a problem with dl mode, that I should try fix with a jig (the phone does act LIKE it in dl mode - yellow triangle and all...)?

You seem to be having strange problems. I assume you pressed the correct combo keys ( as shown in image on that thread) and you did not get download mode ( this could be due to ) you don't have an i9000 but a different version of Galaxy S? or your keys are not functioning or you have a wrong bootloader
so use this methods & tool from PC to boot into download mode after you are sure you have an i9000 international version by checking under the battery. just to give you an idea , read this
Odin will only connect when phone is in Download mode, so as you mentioned you have NO problem with drivers and PC, its only your phone not being able to enter download mode.

You assume correctly - I did use the correct combo. And the battery says I have an GT-I9000. I think that's only the int'l version, isn't it?

I will try the ADB solution tomorrow. But doesn't the fact that the phone displays the download mode screen say that it is indeed in that mode? (because it does display it, as I mentioned above). I mean - is it possible that the phone seems like it is in download mode, when it's actually not?
Thanks!

hmm, i got the impression that you are not getting the download mode display , if it does than it is in download mode, so now you need to check your Odin3 download, what version are you using , try and download again and always use fresh Odin3, meaning, if it had a problem or even when no problem restart it a fresh. And best install Samsung USB drivers again ( link on that thread), if that did not solve it.

I tried both versions that from here (i.e. v1.83 and v1.85). I'm not really doing anything else with Odin, so there's nothing to restart.
I also tried uninstalling and installing the drivers a few times, using a few different installation files, and by letting windows figure out on its own which drivers to install.
Non of it changed the result.

this is weird, anyway since heimdall is possible, right? try and download a heimdall rescue kit from MY Android collections and try flashing , if the phone boots you can also install Mobile Odin from playstore to flash stock ROM too.

Galaxy S3 mini boot-loop

Hi,
I installed Cyanogenmdo 12.1 sucessfully but after i rebooted my S3 mini it will only stay on the first screen (Samsung I8190...screen) i wanted to solve it using recovery but i cant enter recovery cause of my broken home button. I already tried to connect device to computer and use adb reboot recovery but adb dont see the device as connected (cause it´s just in the first screen).
Sorry for my bad english
I hope somebody can help me
I think that only solution ist to buy a USB Jig.

easier & cheaper to fix home button than buy jig, then do wipe in recovery & install rom

Thanks, so have the USB Jig now when I put it in it will not enter recovery but download mode. That´s good ´cause I know now that the only wrong thing I did was to hit yes when TWRP asked me ´Do you want to root your device now´a my recovery doesn´t work now. So I flashed CWM recovery via odin but I can´t enter it ´cause of my broken home button. So the next thing that I will do is to flash a new ROM via odin and then I hope I will be able to connect my device to ADB. When I will be able to connect my device to ADB I will try adb reboot recovery and see what will happen.
