Here is the situation as of this morning after taking out the headphones that came with the phone(the "unbranded beats") and then putting them back in the phone, the sound doesn't play through them anymore. I've tried the latest versions of ARHD, trickdroid and even CM10 and they still don't work. However when I plugged them into my mom's Note 2 and laptop and they work fine. Also when I plug another pair of headphones in to my One they work fine.
I'm probably just going to move on to another pair, but I'm wondering what went wrong here. Any ideas?

All,
I have an AT&T Tilt, which I have had a for a while. It has had various different ROM's on it. Currently running one of Dutty's latest for the Kaiser.
However, the blasted device no longer recognizes headphones (the ones that shipped with it, or either of the adapters I have). It charges fine, it connects via USB just fine, it just ALWAYS plays music and sound over the internal speaker rather than the headphones.
I've even pulled the thing apart, following the instructions on the wiki, and have taken a good hard look at the jack and connectors, everything seems to be fine visually.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks much

Id maybe switch the radio just to be sure as the radio firmware controls audio. Just a shot in the dark

Shot in dark appreciated tho...

you've really got to do some more searching before starting new threads...it keeps clutter down and it is a mind set that is in harmony with the spirit of the forum
please see my post in this short thread that is just TWO WEEKS old...you will find that your problem sounds EXACTLY the same as this person's problem:

good luck!
It's like the elephant in the room around here. The bluetooth service on 2.1 is some crazy, broken crap. No matter how many times and how many ways I try to get it to pair to my brand new Kenwood x994 it refuses to save. It will eventually link up BT audio if I search for devices and let the pairing fail, but what a PIA to mess with every time I get in the car. I rolled back to Fresh 1.1 today and I had it paired and working perfectly in 10 seconds.
So here is the question, can we put the 1.5 BT stack into the 2.1 ROM? I already tried the 1.5 libbluetooth.so in the /system/lib filesystem, but it didn't change anything about the pairing problem (obviously I have no idea what I am doing and stabbing blindly at anything bluetooth related).
Anybody have any ideas? Is the BT compiled into the kernel? Can we recompile it with the 1.5 version?
I've asked this question a few times already and the answers are usually 'no'. Gawd I wish we could as no 2.1 roms (I've tried almost all of them) will pair voice (audio is OK) with my Pioneer Avic D3 car radio. 1.5 works perfect
Mine works exactly the opposite. The hands free phone works perfectly, but the phonebook doesn't download and BT audio fails to connect.
It sounds like it may be your phone, your should update with the official 2.1, then take it to a sprint store and have them replace it.
My phone has worked flawlessly to my jeep stereo with any 2.1 rom I have used in the last several months.
So this whole time I thought it was because we had a leaked version, but is this the official ROM that still has this problem. It's not the device cause I've had it replaced twice and my wifes doesn't work either.
I am not able to connect to my Pioneer AVH btw.

I agree, if it was the hardware it wouldnt work with 1.5 either. Besides, Dan Hesse is my boss. He'd get hacked if I took back my phone

Hi,
I have the following problem:
Everytime I pair my Samsung Galaxy SII I9000 with my car (Renault Fluence 2012) and its built in bluetooth System, it says that it's correctly paired (and honestly doesnt even take a minute to pair correctly and to find each other), but it plays no music. It just has no sound (even when the song is playing correctly) but everything else just works perfect. I mean, i can control the music (songs, playlists, etc) from my car correctly, but the sound just wont come out. The only way to make it work is to 'unlock' the sound by calling someone. So when the call starts, then the audio starts working.
It does EXACTLY the same thing with my bluetooth headphones (Motorola S305) so I realized it was my phone. I have tried other phones with my car and they work just fine. I have tried other things with my headphones too (like my Psvita) and they work smoothly.
The weird thing about it is that my phone used to work perfectly fine with the two things, and just a random day it decided not to work anymore.
I used kies and re-installed android from 0, and that solved the problem for a few days and then it all started again. I have tried cleaning all the bluetooth devices that my phone is paired with. Going back to factory settings in my car, removing the battery on the phone, resetting the phone, taking everything out (including the sim card( everything. And nothing seems to work.
Please, help!
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy SII with Android 2.3.6 (it came with 2.3.3 and i upgrade it twice through kies) I have never rooted my phone or done anything to it, except for upgrading Android through Kies.
Thanks so much!!!

If you have SGS2 go to the SGS2 Q&A this is only for SGS1
Thanks
Oh boy... I am very sorry for that.
I know I'm not the only one having this problem, but past solutions don't seem to work anymore.
For some reason my phone does not recognize if I plug a headset into the audio jack, so the audio keeps playing through the speakers. I have to reboot the phone with my headphones plugged in to be able to listen to music using my headphones. I f I want it to switch back to speakers, I need to reboot once again with the headphones unplugged.
In the past the solution was to delete the "alsa" folder, but that folder does not seem to exist anymore. I'm using Omar's rom from August 2014 I think. When installing it I did a factory reset, so I'm not sure what else to try. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I have the same problem and it existed on 4.0.4, 4.1.2 (both stock) and now on 4.4.4. (Hazou's CM11) so I'm not sure it's ROM-related, as like you i did a clean flash.
I also had the same issue with ICS and JB stock. I was convinced it was a software issue because it always started to work when I restarted with the headphones in. I know it sounds crazy but have a dig around in the headphone jack for fluff, I picked a few bits out and I *think* that mostly solved the problem. Also try different headphones, I found some fit tighter than others.
Hello,
I am having the same problem on my RAZR i. I am under Android 4.4.2. I installed this: susomena.headphonesindicator (apps Play store) (in french : Indicateur de Casque)
and everything works perfectly. . I am new user and I can not post outside links.
hello
I bought a used I9305 (stock rom 4.4.4) for my girlfriend but the back speaker/buzzer did not work.
Easy fix, I thought and put in a new buzzer, headjack unit.
But suprise: didnĀ“t help.
With the headphone plugged it works just fine, every sound ok.
front speaker (phone) works, mic works, so you can actually phone.
Tried some settings as found in the web, tried pulling in out the jack, but that doesnt seem to be the prob as the phone recognizes the headphone and when unplugged.
Last thing before selling on was as here.
Maybe here are some experienced users who can help.
