So I received my Razr I today and it already has JB on it
So I was wondering, any chance that I could downgrade it to ICS?
From what I've read on xda and some German forums it did work for some people...
I'm referring to this threat:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184877
So in the end, is it possible or not?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, you should definitely be able to do this. You need to install a custom recovery on to your device to start with. I think the ROM Manager app on the Play Store supports your device. If you download it you can flash CWM Recovery onto your device. Then you need the zip file for the ICS stock firmware which can be found easily by Googling it (I've already seen it so it exists). Once you've moved the zip file on to your SD card, boot into recovery and install the zip file and you should be back to ICS stock.

But for CWM I need root, for root I need unlocked BL and I don't have it and also don't want to unlock my BL.
So, locked BL JB -->locked BL ICS
Then you must stay with unrooted JB. Downgrade to ICS with RSD is not possible afaik.

This post will contain N8013 stock kernel and recovery images. For UEALGB these were dumped from a device that was rooted using the "root injection of /system" approach. For UEALH2, they are simply extracted from the Kies dump at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706 so that you can get a stock kernel or recovery without downloading 1GB of files.
If you flash any of these using Odin, they should not trigger your flash counter. Note that for some reason, flashing these in Heimdall will trigger the counter (unlike Heimdall on most other devices).
Pardon for some ignorance. What should be the steps to follow in order to root from an updated to latest OTA update stock Rom on a 32gb USA version? Do I need to flash the kernel, or just recovery should be ok?

Why don't u ask this in the root thread?
Here is what you should do:
Root Via CWM (method 2 in the root thread)
1. Download and put the superuserzip on your internal memory on your device
2. In odin uncheck auto reboot and load the cwmrecovery tar in the pda slot
3. Start odin
4. Once finished boot directly into clockwork (volume up and power til the samsung screen then let go of power while holding volume up)
5. Use the volume rockers to scroll in clockwork cause its finicky and flash the superuser zip you put on your device.
6. reboot
7. Make sure you have root and touch screen and pen works
8. Download goo manager
9. In goo manager hit menu and hit the install recovery script
10. DONE
Have any problems odin back to a stock image and if things go bad flash entropys triangle away kernel and clear your binary count
Any chance you could update the thread to account for the updated kernel for the N8013, that adds support for exFAT?

I have the Canadian 8010 model, and installed the prerooted firmware that was provided. It didnt flash right the first time but the second time it did. Everything works great and Im rooted with CWM. The only thing I noticed is that it says I have the 8013 model now which is probably because of the firmware but its not a big deal.

You can't, but you can flash the entire H2 ODIN image from here (about 1GB):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
and not lose your data. You lose root though (which you can get again through the alternate recovery method)
Can we get a kernel and recovery from UEALI3 please.

N8013 UEALI3 Recovery
Can anyone post the UEALI3 stock recovery? I want to root my Note, but want to root my Note with the CWM method, and go back to stock recovery so I can get OTA updates.
Thank you.
In the future we may be blessed with a Jelly bean update, like the n7000 is getting now. In that case we may want to install our stock recovery. Well in the absence of a CWM/ TWRP flashable stock recovery I created one for our phone.
Step one download file to your SD card. (Internal for CWM External for TWRP)
Step two reboot to recovery.
Step three install from sd card.
Step four Choose RecoverystockT879.
Flash.
Confirmed working on both CWM and TWRP.
A special thanx to tomin.fhl for providing the stock Recovery.img.
Thank you. Now I feel a little less inhibited trying this.
No problem.

No it won't. You need to have your phone nand unlocked and have the unlock code. Unfortunately you can't legally do that anymore. Att might do it for you for a small fee, I don't know for sure. About the ota update, don't do it it will take you for a bootloop. The update is for the T879 not for the I717.

Hello,
So I just want to clear something out. So once I have used a the Asus app and unlocked my tab, I CANNOT relock it again? Also once unlocked, I can no longer receive OTA from Asus and therefore have to download it manually?
I just need clarification on these two questions. Thank you.

Yep, it's a one-way process.
But we can still download the official update from Asus and flash as long as we are on stock recovery, correct? And if i'm not mistaken, we can always revert back to stock recovery. Just can't go back to a locked bootloader.
Damn if I knew this I wouldn't have... oh well. Thanks for the answers!

I wanted to revert back to stock firmware, so I downloaded the zip from asus site and put in root directory, however when I flash the zip with CWM it always gives me status 6 error. I searched this and I tried a possible solution using notepad++ but didn't work. Can anyone help me why I can't install stock firmware without getting the status 6 error?

You can't flash the stock firmware from cwm. You need to fastboot flash the stock recovery from droid basement and then extract the stock zip onto your internal card and boot that way. Alternatively you could just flash my stock ROM in the Dev section.
Why do you want to go back to pure stock?
Wow lol I spend hours trying to flash through CWM. thank u very much sdbags. I wanted to revert back because, lol my WiFi was acting wiered with the ROM. some apps like "showbox" worked fine with stock, but with cromi it would go very slow and take really long to load a list of movies or shows. I Donni maybe wifi drivers are not same on cromi? Anyway, thanks for the stock installation solution.

Why don't you just flash my Asus Stock ROM first? It's 99.9% the Asus files - just with ROOT added.
I haven't tested the following but if you MUST flash the Asus Stock from a PC you would do it using the following. I won't take any responsibility if you brick and you do this at your own risk. Personally if I were you I wouldn't do it this way as flashing my Asus Stock will do EXACTLY the same. Note that the below instructions are for 4.2.2. Be warned - it will erase the bootloader so if it doesn't flash properly you will brick permanently.

+1. Just download the flashble zip, copy it to sd card, flash it from your existing custom recovery.
I had my phone download this and then just copied it off. My phones build was 98.18.94. Not sure what the difference between this and 98.30 is. I'm rooted so I haven't installed it but it's here for anyone that wants it. My phone downloaded a different version than I found online. It was version 182.46.10XT907.Verizon.en.US. I don't know what other phone builds it will work with. Either way use at your own discretion.

My understand is that it should leave the bootloader unlocked. It will replace the recovery, radio and other system partitions. If you removed anything from the /system/apps folder then I think it will fail/abort install. I've removed some so I need/want to RSD back to stock and then update but if I do then I'll lose root which I use.
Yes, and with SELinux and some other enhancements in KitKat I wouldn't even take a future root for granted.

Posting updates on how to use this thru the stock recovery.
This is how it is supposed to be used:
1 - Flash LATEST stock SBF of JB thru RSD. (Android 4.1.2
Blur_Version.98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US)
2 - After RSD flash reboot phone on stock recovery and proceed to install update from SD card, here select the file that is provided at the beginning of the thread.
3 - After this first flash completes, phone is going to reboot in recovery again, to open the menu of this specific recovery, the combo of the buttons is power + vol up.
4 - proceed to install from sd card again and select the same file that you selected on the second step.
5 - Wait for it to finish
6 - Wipe data/factory reset
7 - Select restart system, Phone will restart in KK, enjoy guys.
Keep in mind that you have to follow the explanation at the beggining of the thread or this one, if you dont follow this steps like this, you wont be able to install this update or you wont be able to finish installing the update.
is this the offical KK update?

Hmmm..

My understanding is you can retain some root functionality using SuperSU Pro's Survival Mode. I believe you'll still lose R/W capability.
The best approach would be to unlock your bootloader. I've heard some success with custom recovery, though stock recovery would be best bet.

my bootloader has unlock. and does it mean I can have root permission after I flash the stock zip package?
OK here it is, black and white and very simple:
Bootloader Locked - NO ROOT, NO CUSTOM RECOVERY.
Bootloader Unlocked - CWM Recovery and FULL ROOT with SuperSu.
That's it, no if ands or buts.
