[Q] About CID and S-OFF situation? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I have T-Mobile version. So, I have unlocked, S-OFF, changed to CID to 111111 and installed custom recovery. So now, am I able to have official firmware and software updates from T-Mobile or should I install Developer RUU from HTC. If I want to install Developer Edition RUU, which one should I choose? I have checked HTC website and I am lost .
Thank you!

[Q] Looking for advice on how to proceed regarding root

Hey, I recently bought my HTC One and have been reading up on how to root etc. I'm looking for advice on how best to proceed. Currently my HTC one is running 4.1.2 with HBOOT 1.44.
Things seemed to have changed a bit since I last had a HTC (wildfire), now theres CID's, MID's, supercid and no goldcards. Things also seem a bit complicated compared to my SE Arc S, where you had one customization number and sony's software pulled the respective software.
At the moment, I want to be able to use root only apps (eg Titanium Backup) and update to the stock version of 4.2
Reading around, I've seen that rooting by unlocking the bootloader will block the OTA update to 4.2. Also, upgrading to 4.2 will update the HBOOT meaning that I won't be able to s-off. Even though, I currently don't need this, I don't want to update to the new HBOOT just in case.
My question is what would be the best way to get a stock rooted version of 4.2 without losing the ability to s-off?
Just looking for a bit of guidence, Thanks!
mike
I rooted to get 4.2 update bunch of custom roms already have them and there great roms I'm on viperone now but also have had revolution, trickdroid, cleanrom, ext all are stable don't need s off to flash but give it time and there will be an s off for 4.2.2

My phone is on HBOOT 1.44, it can be s-off at the moment.
My question was how to get stock 4.2 with root access without upgrading to HBOOT 1.54?
S-off,
Unlock boot loader,
Change cid to HTC__001,
Lock boot loader,
Run RUU for European developers edition,
Update by OTA,
Unlock bootloader,
Flash custom recovery,
Root device.
You will be on stock 4.2.2, and rooted. You also won't have to worry about the hboot because once you have s off you don't lose it.

Thanks for the reply
My cid is already HTC__001 (I bought it and it came with WWE ). Does that mean I can skip steps 2,3,4 and 5 in your list?
What is European developers edition?
Yes I suppose you can. WWE is world wide English. Which is what I believe comes on the developers editions. So you have HTC__001 already and have not received the ota? Like I said, if you want s off, get it before you upgrade. But if you don't need it you can upgrade without it and still root.

What EU developer edition? I assume he has the UK version so his stock rom would be the "HTC_Europe" version. Need his CID and MID numbers to confirm. I agree that he should run the S-off process first thing if he wants it.
My CID is HTC__001, I don't know what the MID is. I don't think it's the developer edition, I bought it from a retailer not HTC directly and it's 32GB. My software version is .401 and the OTA to 4.2.2 is available to me, I haven't updated yet because I don't want to be stuck on HBOOT 1.54.
Then you can s-off, update, you will retain s-off on the new hboot, unlock boot loader, flash a custom recovery and root.

Thanks, if I unlock my bootloader with revone after s-off, is that exactly the same as doing it through htcdev?

Yes it is, with the added bonus of HTC not knowing you've done it!

I guess another advantage is that your device doesn't get wiped on unlocking.

Reverting Back from Google Edition !

So, first of all i want to say that i wouldn`t have written here if i hadn`t tried every possible way. I want to know where i did wrong, because this is the case and i wand to ask for your help.
The situation : I flashed the google edition to my htc one, it was fine, and i didn`t quite like it so i wanted to go back.
Now the show starts. I flashed Hboot 1.44, got the old bootloader back, and then when i tried to flash the old ruu zip it says : couldnt allocate 1034027008bytes. Also i have tried the exe file and it stops right at the start and says connection interrupted or some sort like this and it doesn`t continue.
I have S-off, unlocked bootloader. I had stock 4.2.2 with htc__001 cid, and twrp as recovery and of course it was rooted. I flashed the Google Edition after i put the stock recovery.
Thank you in advance for all your help.

What phone is it? Developer Edition?
First thing is to change your CID to a Super CID 11111111
Then you need the proper RUU file for the phone. If its an ATT version
you can flash the 4.3 Developer Edition RUU on the HTC site.

Then your Hboot 1.44 may not be the correct one. PM me with your email and I will give
you the correct one.

I have tried once again with the 1.44 Hboot and the zip from htc official website , the developer edition one.
Still no luck.
With the help of cc999 i managed to revert back to 4.3 Developer Edition.
Apparently there was a mess in my adb and usb drivers.
So i managed to install the 4.3 Developer Edition on another laptop and it worked just fine.
Thank you again cc999 for the support.
You should use the stock recovery to flash the ruu.exe. Makes life so much easier!

Stock Android 4.3 Rom update?

Hello! I flashed the stock google play edition 4.3 rom on my HTC One. My old rom was the stock htc sense 5.0 which I got with the phone. What I want to know is that will I receive updates automatically from my phone if 4.4 comes out on HTC One when it is released and that etc... Because I'm scared I'll need to do it via PC. Basically, if you still don't understand, on my HTC One when I first got it, I could perform a software update from the phone, can I do that with the stock Google play edition rom 4.3 if an update comes out from my phone or do I need to do it through my computer? Thanks in advance!

If you do not have stock recovery, you will not get OTA's. If your bootloader is unlocked, you won't get OTA's. If your CID and MID don't match that of the GPe device, you won't get OTA's while you're running a GPe build.
To get OTA's, your CID and MID must match with the version of software you're running (if you have an ATT CID, MID, and stock build, you have stock recovery and your bootloader is locked you will get ATT OTAs - OR you changed your CID and MID to that of the GPe device, and you're running a stock GPe build with stock recovery and locked bootloader and you will get GPe OTAs)

Pardon me for my lack of intellience and ignorance, but what the hell is that? I know OTA is over the air, but what is CID and MID and how do I know if they match? All I know is that I have a stock recovery but my bootloader is unlocked. Do I lock it and I just get OTAs or do I need to do something else? I'm super confused at this moment of time. Please feed me with more of your knowledge! How'd I find out the CID and MID?
EDIT: Also, how do I check my GPe to see if it the same as the CID or MID? Please, I don't want to go online and do it via a zip file etc.. I just want to update OTA!

[Q] HTC unlock question

If got my HTC one unlocked I am runnig ARHD revolution.
My friend also has an HTC ONE and also wants to unlock it.
The only differents is that my HTC has CID: HTC_001 and was running stock version *.**.401.*
my friends has CID from O2, so his stock version isn't *.**.401.*
Is it possible to flash a custom rom that is based on *.**.401.* on an unlocked htc one witch other version? Or would he have to go S-off for this.
Yes, that's fine. He won't be able to flash a 401 firmware, but any ROM can be flashed with unlocked bootloader.

Is it possible to make a AT&T HTC One a Developer Edition?

Okay,
I have a AT&T that I have bootloader unlocked and S-off and have been running pretty much any ROM from this forum.
I'd like to know if it's possible to change it to "Developer Edition" so I can receive the latest updates directly from HTC.
I'm assuming that I'd need to change my Model ID and CID number and flash the correct RUU?
Thanks
You can always side load the update, international is pretty much the same but it comes unlocked bootloader, which is something easy to do with the HTC Dev

Stock recovery, HBoot 1.44, relock bootloader, leave S-Off, run Brightstar RUU from HTCDev site. Once done you will have 4.3 and can get the new 4.4 updates. ATT MID is the same, I played with different CID's, and either SuperCid works and BS_US001 works. Simple as that.
